(salam) The Centre for Islamic Shi'a Studies held it's first book launch on Wednesday 29th February 2012 at the Brunei Gallery, SOAS in London to launch 'The Shia of Samarra' a book published by IB Tauris, based on the proceedings of the 2009 conference on Samarra: Heritage and History. Talks by book editor Imranali Panjwani, CISS Director Sayyid Fadhil Bahrululoom and a lecture by Dr Andrew Newman of the University of Edinburgh. Video of the launch can be seen here: The book is available from all major bookshops and amazon - http://www.amazon.co...y/dp/1848857799 They have also posted a 30% discount flyer to get 30% RRP - http://shiastudies.o...rra%20flyer.pdf In my opinion an amazing book that has really helped solidify the view that Samarra was originally a Shia majority town with Shia compromising 50%-75% of the population even before Mirza Shirazi moved the Hawza there. InshAllah we all benefit from such an amazing book! (wasalam)
