  1. Read the Reddit comments to understand what the thread was about, since the post has since been deleted. ....................................................................................... I'm so tired of the utterly nonsensical and VERY COMMON Sunni notion of 'I am happy to seek unity with Shias as long as they don't curse/insult/abuse any Sahaba, and especially NOT Aisha, Abu Bakr, Omar, Uthman. Firstly, any Shia claim regarding the sahabi that happens to go against the Sunni narrative is considered insulting. Secondly, and more importantly, is that the same notion is true for Shias... You are insulting the Ahlul Bayt by not accepting them as divinely appointed leaders of Allah, and infallible individuals, and perfect preservers of the religion of Islam, and a high means of seeking closeness to Allah (intercession). Not only are you insulting revered Shia figures by not following them, you are commiting MAJOR shirk by giving a false attribute to Allah, by saying that Allah has not always appointed an infallible leader on this Earth, and that there currently isn't an infallible leader. Furthermore, the real kicker is that plenty of revered Shia figures, such as Abu Talib (رضي الله عنه), are considered kuffar by Sunnis. Is this not insulting? So, how can we Shias unite with Sunnis based on their own fallacious logic? Shias are the minority, and Sunnis are the majority. It makes Sunnis think that they are Orthodox and that they have to unite with Heterodox for political and humanitarian reasons, and that Shias must make [ridiculous] compromises. Shias are far more receptive to the unity message, because we actually understand Sunni Islam, and can see the commonalities. We understand that we can't make Sunnis compromise on their beliefs. Simply by being the minority within Islam, by nature we Shias already understand Sunni beliefs, whereas Sunnis have a basic strawman understanding of Shia beliefs... which is natural, considering that they are the majority. Anyways, the point of my post is the following: Let's compile a list of revered Shia figures that are not given their proper status by Sunnis, according to Shia Islam... with an explanation given. ...This is to show that we Shias and Sunnis can unite, but we cannot unite upon revered figures and imamah. ...This will also serve as a way of showing Sunnis that this argument of theirs makes no sense. Another important question we may ask is "What about commonly revered figures like Imam Ali (عليه السلام) who is given different status in both sects? Can we unite upon Imam Ali (عليه السلام)?" ...a common Sunni criticism of political unity is that "Ali ibn Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) is given an improper status in Shia religion because they call upon him... tawassul (intercession) of the 'dead' is Shirk! So there is absolutely no room for unity since we can't even agree on the status of the sahabi" [yes, I am aware that the Imams (عليه السلام) are still alive, but Sunnis don't believe this...] I would love to hear your thoughts. Wassalam. JazakAllah Khair. Fi sabilillah.
  2. Hello/Asalam Alaikum I ask if someone knows if this book belongs to twelver sect, or to ismaili or another shia sect. I mean if this is the essence of shia twelver. thank you. http://islamicblessings.com/upload/Essence-of-Shia-Faith.pdf
  3. Assalam O Alaikum, Wa Rehmatullah, Wa Barakatuhu. Respect the difference of opinion if there is no clear indication of shirk or kufr in it.
  4. I cant but notice the hate and takfiri acts , different sects have for one another . . I don't understand why all that hate for , don't we all believe in one Allah , prophat Mohammed is out nabi , quran is our book of revelation .. why and why do you ignore all the common stuff and jump on each other throats for the differences . if prophat Mohammed s.a.w come to us today and wanted to enter the majid to meet his people , what you gonna tell him , no this is shia masjids come here don't go to those sufis or sunnis they non muslims , if prophat Mohammed asked why don't they believe in me , what would you say , that you heard some hadiths from you that say they kafirs ? because of the different sects and the fights among them , I almost turned to atheism because of your useless fights that end up in wars and many blood was spill and shaded in name of false jihad and takfir of one another . I don't feel safe even among other muslims , I am afraid .. when I am with shia I act as shia , when I am with sunni I act as sunni , but when I am by myself I know all those sects are nonsense , only the quran is the true way and path toward the truth . this what I believe but even this I can't out it because I am scared of people around me ... muslims should stop this , but seems no one is ready to listen , they just ready to pick fight with one another and end up saying I am the true muslim and you are kafir etc etc . and salafits/wahabi take it to another level and chop your head off
  5. Salaam. To give some background, I have been brought up with Shia beliefs but recently, an encounter with another individual has led me to revisit these beliefs and its has made me realise, I actually don't know an awful lot about my own beliefs let alone the beliefs of others. I promised myself that I will look, discuss and seek to find that closest to the truth and to spot the discrepancies. I want to feel the peace that many believers do because they've found their path. But with little Muslim friends I have, my primary companion is the Internet. Since I've started researching into Shia'ism and Sunni'ism more, I feel I've become less practicing because I don't know what is right and wrong and this just pretty much had left me irritated with everything. Has anyone else felt or encountered a scenario like this and how do you deal with it? And please, no mean comments.
  6. I like to draw your attention to the below sources: Surely they who divided their religion into parts and became sects, you have no concern with them; their affair is only with Allah, then He will inform them of what they did. (6:159) This community will be fragmented into seventy-three sects. Seventy two of them will go to Hell and one sect alone will go to Paradise and about them Allah has revealed: ‘We have created a rightly guided and Just nation.’ They are my Shia and me. (Ihqaq-al-Haqq vol. 3, p. 413) What is a sect? Along what dimensions or yardsticks can we use to delineate "ahah! thats a sect by itself"? Can we say there are sects which are "in the fold of Islam" and some sects "fold outside of Islam"? More pertinent I like to resolve is the attitude we should take towards a different sect than our own. Doesn't v6:159 say that other sects are "none of our business"? If that is the case why do Sunni must bother Shia and vice-versa? Regardless of above hadith, we can co-habit, sing n dance together, and respect each other without slitting each other's throat. How do the Imams (as) of the past deal with this issue? Didn't Imam Ali (as) send an emissary to re-educate the Kharijites about their wrong beliefs, and when the Kharijites were adamant about their belief, Imam Ali (as) said to leave them alone? Now, I am not saying that if other people attempt to cause harm to our lives and properties we should not fight them. That is a different topic. I am talking about divergent ideas. This is an important area I like to explore because if my understanding is correct then Islam is quite accommodating to different interpretation and ideas and we can say that there is some sort of "pluralism" in Islam. (I am using the term loosing OK so plse do not get excited).
  7. HamzaTR posted in a different thread that all sects under Islam are believers. I think that is difficult to understand, because there seem to be some that are pretty out there on the edge - in my opinion. I can understand the logic, where HamsaTR say: "only believers are allowed to perform pilgrimage. And, never in history have any of islamic sects been forbidden of forbade others from performing it. Only this can tell you what the consensus of Muslims is on this issue. All sects are believers, thus brothers in faith. But some maybe misguided, but it is irrelevant." I just wonder if misguided - is not crossing the line to actually believing in something that is not Islam at some point, for some of these ? I am of course not talking about sunni or similar, im talking about bigger differences in some of the fundamental believes that some of them sects seem to believe in / interperate different, or be misguided to practice - however you define it. I came f.eks. accros some Muslim sects in the Philippines, that seem to practice something that i did not find very familiar with what I understand as true Islam. Are there some fatwas - or something to clarify more on this ?
  8. According to the shia school of thought are Sunni Muslims considered to be Muslims? Or are they out of the fold of Islam. Why or why not?
