  2. I'm sick of hearing so-called experts saying that masturbation is "perfectly fine", "healthy", and even "beneficial". You'll find many internet articles with responses from doctors saying that there's nothing wrong with masturbation. They also make it look like it's part of normal human behavior. But after independently researching the topic in depth, I found that masturbation can be quite dangerous to our mental and physical health. Masturbation is not normal/instinctual/natural human behavior; masturbation is in fact virtually nonexistent in all studied isolated hunter-gatherer societies and primitive peoples. I'm not questioning the expertise or intentions of doctors and sexologists who normalize masturbation. What I am saying is that perspectives on masturbation tend to be unusually positive in the secular world - a tendency that may give us a skewed or biased understanding of masturbation. There is a lack of quality material that offers different or non-traditional secular perspectives on masturbation. This lack is surprising because there is plenty of evidence of masturbation being an unhealthy thing. Maybe this lack has something to do with sustaining the $14 billion porn industry (which is bigger than the NFL, NBA, and Major League Baseball combined) or just governments trying to make people complacent by rewiring their brains with hypersexuality. Conspiracy theories aside, I would like to spearhead my call for action. Below is an article I wrote in which I give a couple secular reasons why masturbation is harmful and why not masturbating may be very beneficial for our physical and mental health. This article is focused mainly on male masturbation. http://thereligionofreason.blogspot.com/2016/01/how-masturbation-can-be-bad-for-you.html?m=1

  4. This is NOT the National Enquirer. This is India 2015!!!!! "Ancient knives so sharp they could slit a hair in two, 24-carat gold extracted from cow dung and even 7,000-year-old planes that could travel to other planets. Those are just a couple of the startling claims made at this week’s Indian Science Congress. http://rt.com/news/219851-india-science-congress-gems/ "
  5. Salam all, Subhaan Allah Al-Ali Al-Adheem for revealing to us the Quran, a Book with incredible inimitable text structure: Attached is the full Excel workbook for your validation. For those who say Waw is a word, you should know that unlike English or Persian/Urdu, in Arabic Waw is NOT a separate word and there is no space between it and the word that follows it, and this is EXACTLY the case in the Quran. Those who separate waw from its words are following a new trend influenced by foreign languages. However, the Quran was revealed with 7 AHRUF meaning 7 overlapping structures (not 7 spellings) and one of these could be with Waw as separate word, and another is Shadda as a double letter, and QuranCode support these text for research purposes but the original text of the Quran NEVER separate WAW from its word and Allah is witness on what I say. Subhaan Allah, the more I study the Quran's structure, the more I am convinced that the Quran is The Design Document for the Universe and was created before it. Allah A3lem, God > AmazingQuran.zip

  8. Hello! I'm new posting and the reason why I have become part of this community is because there are some questions in life that I have that I cannot ask others in my family (either because they'll call me crazy or not understand me, not because of any shameful reasons). Anyway, the point of my post is to ask what your thoughts on Evolution are. Please, if you are not informed on what evolution really means then try to refrain from merely giving negative comments. In my opinion, the evidence on evolution is overwhelming, to the extent that if it is not real then it must be to some extent true. I am a true believer in Allah, but I'm not a native speaker of Arabic and find it difficult to read the Qur'an. I have it in my list of top things to learn, no need to comment on this. With the knowledge I do have however I find no clash whatsoever in the writings of our holy book and evolution... unless we were to take everything literally. So what do you think? Some people call it a sin to find evolution feasible and call me names for appreciating the beauty of the mechanism. On the other hand, it just strengthens my believe in Allah that he could have possibly created us so perfectly and simply.

  10. Salam, I heard that Imam Sadiq wrote many books about chemistry and science. (Well it was either him or some of his students) Does anyone have any links to the books or the names of the books?
  11. They took lots of men and women and showed them beard ranges from non to full out mullah beards. A normal beard came first, mullah beard came second and clean shaven came last. It was also known that men with beards were most healthy and masculine looking. Islam does it once again! Source: http://www.ehbonline.org/article/S1090-5138%2813%2900022-6/abstract
  12. Assalamwalikum Borthers and Sisters! I'm a young Muslim man, and I was just wondering about the general views of science today and how they relate with islam. One particular question is about the creation of the universe, or the so called big bang theory. When I was a kid my shia madrassa teacher would always disregard and laugh at the concept of the big bang. Saying it was completely false. This makes me wonder, does Allah describe or mention the creation of the universe in the quran, and what part of the big bang theory would conflict with the the islamic view? I mean the theory describes a single dense point where the universe expanded from, nothing before that, so whats to say that Allah did not expand the universe this way, does islam disprove this? Thank you, wa Salaam.

  15. (salam) A christian has asked me that Why Quran has mentioned that male sperms originate from between the back and the ribs. I could not answer him because of my little knowledge. Any one can help? (bismillah) خُلِقَ مِنْ مَاءٍ دَافِقٍ {6} يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ {7} [Shakir 86:6] He is created of water pouring forth, [Shakir 86:7] Coming from between the back and the ribs.
  16. So, some of you might remember, most of you won't, I once created a thread for exam revision and this, well, is just the sequel to that. I'll just copy the OP from there: Last time, there wasn't much of people asking questions but, just to stimulate the thread, I was asking random questions from different subjects. BUT, the response wasn't that good so it was like I was taking time to make questions but no one, except one or two, even tried answering so, unless someone asks, I won't do it this time.
  17. Salaam uleikum, Is entropy proven through the Qur'an? For instance, in the verses which state that every self shall taste death and that all is perishing save His Face?
  18. Salaam Alaykum Bismillah. Now days it's quite normal for people to ask question regarding the existence of God. I wanted to ask, for example, can you ever base a truth on half of knowledge, the example is, Charles Darwin was never quite sure about his theory of evolution and some perhaps many have pointed his mistakes, if he was never sure, how can he spread a knowledge in which himself has a contradiction? If you know that your brother was hungry, he ate some food, and you started telling people he ate 12 plates, but in which reality he at 2, so how may you spread a wrong 'information' and people believe you, why do people want not to believe in God, what makes them arrogant, I believe if there is a God which he must be (exist) he must be a very justful God ,i.e Adalah (see...Usul-e-Din) but yet some people are blacks, some are different color, why is it so? they never knew they will be born in such way, (A poem I love to reference is [Life bought I came, death took me I go]) poverty,richness,knowledge,etc...I have read the hadith of Imam Ali (a.s) about "The one who has higher taqwa among you, is most beloved to Allah, than let him be of any sect, cast etc..." But the spiritual world is influence by the physical, if your born black, and people hate you, ultimately (it's a human physiological development) you will think Allah hates you, isn't so? Which I know he doesn't but, how does one not let physical influence spiritual, Please guide my ignorance and take a lesson from my knowledge.
  19. With Salaams to all my respected brothers and sisters, I've been in the search of a Credible source (Shia is Preferred) that examines the Scientific facts included in the Quran that have been proven up until today. A collection of these would be a very helpful resource for discussions and presentations not just within the community but also as a means to generate discussions with people outside our faith. Please don't hesitate to share any links, books or any media along their relating sources that make them credible. Jazak Allah, Abbas N.
  20. AOA, I've been thinking, and I've come up with a conclusion, the big bang could of been how the universe was made. Maybe God has created the universe like this, maybe he had a single dense point explode and expand to create the universe, I mean Allah is capable of creating something out of nothing, and many many years later (about 13 billion) he sent humans down later. Because the universe and animals and planets were all here before prophet Adam came. I mean Allah is able to do anything so he could of just created the universe like so. I am not questioning Allah, nor denying his creation, just wondering. Salam, Thank You
  21. Assalamo alykum wa rahmatullaha wa barakato Salaams to all on shiachat. Long time member and this is only my second post in about four years. I have a question about a story ive heard concerning Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) and a hindu doctor. I'm sure youre all already familiar with this story so I'm not gonna post it again because it can be found right here on shiachat already anyways. The part of the story that concerns me is where the Imam supposedly says that the kidneys are bean shaped so that sperm can pass through them and then he says that sperm comes from the backbone. As im sure most of you know this is an argument that has already been refuted concerning the verses from the holy quran that state that we are created from a fluide eminating from between the backbone and the ribs. I believe that the refutation was that the word in the quran thats translated as backbone actually is referring to reproductive organs and im wondering if thats the same issue here in this story. However, this still dosent explain why the Imam(as) would say that sperm passes through the kidneys when it isnt true and is apparently an ancient idea belonging to Hippocrates the greek scholar. I wanna know how accurate this story is and whether its been changed or added to throughout the years if possible. This issue with the embryology in the holy quran has been racking my brain for some time now and it seems like every time ive figured it out I find something that puts me back to square one. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated InshaAllah. salaams
  22. (bismillah) (salam) This is a relatively long post, regarding the initial stages of creation, or to be more specific creation on Earth. I have written much in order to connect some dots together, and in order to paint a picture that is more in harmony with contemporary science as opposed to dogma. As I also mention in this blog post, "I am not attempting to reject or ascertain any specific view. Rather I hope to have provoked some thoughts and curiosity in order to encourage us to see if we could re-examine our views" http://unveilingthelight.blogspot.ca/ As always, your feedback is very welcome. I would like to hear different perspectives. However, whether you agree or disagree with what I have posted, to support your positions, please post acceptable traditions/hadiths. Thank You Enjoy Reading Eltemase Dua :) P.S. I had some trouble moving the texts from Microsoft Word to Blogspot. You may notice some asymmetry in the position of the points. I apologize in advance if that is something that bothers you. (salam)
  23. (bismillah) In The Name of Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì, The Most Beneficent, The Most Merciful. (salam) I hope you all are in the best of health and, most importantly, in the best of Imaan. I have noticed that most of us are writing our examinations in this period and I thought if you all come to Shiachat, even during this time, then why not use Shiachat to do a bit of revision and help us rather than "just for fun". I know, its most probably, not the "coolest" idea because most of you might come to Shiachat to "let some steam off" after studying the whole day and, so, it would be torture if you even have to revise here but, still, I believe it can be helpful for you. Plus, if you are responsible enough to be studying, then there is no need for you to join and you can just "let off your steam" on Shiachat without getting involved in the academic work. :D So, on this thread, we (Shiachat members) can ask the other members to help us revise any topic on any subject or to help us solve problems that you are finding extremely hard to do on your own. You can ask anything on any subject ranging from the science and mathematics to languages and humanities! As the cliche says, "anything goes"! :D NOTE: this thread should not be used for asking others for help in doing your homeworks if your teacher does not allow you to take help from others. I, or the other members, can't know whether what you have posted is a homework or not so we will answer you but you should remember that this is a breach of the rules - both your teachers' and this thread's. So, since I can't regulate as to what you put is homework or not, I will leave it on your "moral deterrent" to stop you from doing the wrong thing. May Allah (SWT) bless us all, our families and loved ones, guide us all to The Straight Path with His Perfect Guidance and may He, The Forgiver of Sins and The Oft-Forgiving, forgive all our sins for, indeed, there is neither any refuge nor any respite for the sinners except in Allah (SWT) .
