  1. Is there any book comparing all human religions, sects, nations, tribes etc in one book. If there is none why do not shiachat try to manage to make one as an open book that can be filled by anyone, anytime, anyplace (but with certain references for every sentence he/she do/will make) for future generation reference. I hope someone more wises than me can categorize the topics of comparation such as the most important/distinguished characteristics. I knew in shiachat also discuss another sects, but it is in the forum format not the book. What do you think ? The category of the open book th
  2. People used to look to identity as a unifying force around a particular political project, or social endeavour, in order to protect the interest of a group. However, some view identity to be the biggest hindrance to progress (anywhere), and the most negative heritage that would lead a people to conflicts with no end or solution in sight. In fact, it is a drain of resources (human and natural), and it has taken us Arabs/Muslims (in the Middle East) in the opposite direction to the movement of history. I'm in the process of proposing a new Political Theory, the basis of which will be an eff
  3. I have recently been looking into the relationship or connection between modern science's concept of human origin and the concept of the Islam (in Adam and Eve). When do Muslims think Adam and Eve were created? The scientists believe humans (modern homo sapiens) came into existence around 200,000 years ago through a shared ancestor called 'Mitochondrial Eve' . They do not believe she was the only woman around at the time though (Adam and Eve were the first humans- were they the only?). Creation before Adam and Eve? Scientists believe, through finding Hominids fossils, that
  4. So there is a question that has come to my mind. A womans husband recently died, about 2 months before his death he was a really good muslim. Before those 2 months he was not. Another case if where a girl died at a young age and she was an average muslim, but about 6 months later she died, and during those months she was so religious and barely did any sin. A young man in England was a bad boy. He was always at nightclubs. He would party and dance and drink. Then THREE WEEKS (yes three weeks) he became the humble and caring person and always offered salat on time. After that he died. Obviousl

  6. As-Salaamu Alaykum. Do certain practices amongst the Twelvers have a more cultural aspect to it than religious? For instance, what is the basis of conforming to such practices as organising and participating in processions, matam and zanzir?
  7. What is Religion! We must know about religion, what it is, to develop to know our position to it. How can we practice Islam that is a religion-not any religion but religion to the whole creation beyond derby -, without knowing about what religion is. Sure all are good and excellent followers of Islam, but Islam is a religion so what is religion again! What specific thoughts occur in you, please let us know. If it is not cool to mention I, AGAIN I AM, than maybe we should use 'you'- hmm how logical is this sentence -. Our scholars say religion has three parts-or 3 whatever - that is: Ahklaq, Aq
  8. My prayers have been answered. Finally the lectures were posted on youtube, and believe me it is not a disappointment. What profound lecturers they are! I highly recommend watching them. At very least just watch the first lecture posted, I believe it is very beneficial. Before someone asks me to give a summary of each lecture, I will be happy to give a snippet, nothing more nothing less ^_^ I want you to watch the lecture for yourself and find out. (If I do not have a summary it is because I am still watching it or have not gotten to it) (wasalam) 1. Balance of Life & Soul - Br. Hassa
  9. Find out how differences within Islam shape attitudes on evolution and its most famous protagonist, Charles Darwin. Iran Military Vlog #4: Evolution and Islam Hello guys, I have a vlog on Youtube and In my playlist Iran and the Sciences I added a new video shedding some light on the treatment of biological evolution in Iran and Saudi Arabia. Note that I'm not a biologist nor at all involved in the natural sciences, and some statements may be simplified for general audiences. Most of my information is pulled from E. Burton's research on school textbooks in Iran and Saudi Arabia.
  10. بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته It has been said that one of the signs before Imam Medhi(Aj) is the Yemani rising in Yemen to defeat the Sufyani in Syria. There are a few theories I have heard of: 1. Scholars suggest that the only authentic hadiths in regards to the precursors before Imam al Mehdi(Aj) is the callings from the skies. (I have heard that one of these scholars was Sayed Khoi). 2. There is too much evidence to deny it. Yemen that is poor and has nothing compared to Saudi Arabia is winning against them to the extent that they have destroyed some of their
1. Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah , they would have found within it much contradiction. 2. [This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. (38:29) ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ نَزَّلَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ ۗ و

  13. (bismillah) (salam) I hope you are all in the best of health and most firm in your Imaan. The separation of the Church and the state has been a matter of profound debate over the past few centuries. While I'm not here to discuss the issue in general - because that has been done to death already - I did find a particularly interesting video on the matter: https://youtu.be/EbUUNonUgE8 You can skip to around 3:40 for the relevant part but I would suggest watching the whole thing. Anyways, the part which piqued my interest most was when the scholar argued that hypocrisy is a natural p
  14. Sallam Alikum, What's the difference between Juz, and Chapter? And also where do we know what chapter is a surah in? Just by counting the surah? Or how does it work?
  15. Hello everyone, I have read enough posts on the site that talk to Sunni/Shia marriages and the complications to it. But call me naive, I want to hear your opinion once more to ensure I am doing the right thing. I like a sunni guy, and he likes me back too. However, his family is hardcore sunni, and they have strictly told him he can't marry outside religion. He, himself, isn't very open minded and want his kids to be of the sunni belief when they grow up. He doesn't believe shiasm teaches the right things, and he will never be able to get along with my family as they are a bit religious. W
  16. MashAllah, Hossein Al Qazwini, in this month of Ramadan is talking about many interesting topics. This is one of them. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE at least check out the other lecture topics he talked about in this holy month: http://www.shiachat.com/forum/topic/235023615-hossein-al-qazwini-month-of-ramadan-2014-lectures/ (wasalam)

  18. Hi! Everyone! Sorry to be a bother but I really need help. Hello! :) My name is Kathleen Taylor. :) I am a third year student from the School of Psychology at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). For my dissertation project I am undertaking a study looking at emotion focused and problem focused coping in the Christian and Islamic religions in regards to stress. I was wondering if anyone would be able to take part. :) It would mean a lot to me because not many people are taking part in my study. :( It’s an online study which should take 5 minutes to complete. Here
  19. As'salamu Alaykum, brothers and sisters of the Ummah.., My name is David, I am 32 years old and I currently live in the USA (Detroit, MI.) Like most Americans, I was raised in a Christian (Roman Catholic) home. I didn't start taking religion seriously until I was about 20. At that time I enrolled in Seminary, to study for the ministry. I learned a lot about the Christian faith, but the more I learned, the more questions and doubts I had. Long story short: I eventually dropped out of Seminary after completing my B.A. in Philosophy. For about 10 years, I was an agnostic. Religion still interes
  20. Dear Brothers and Sisters, Have you ever read the books, the secret, or from Abaraham Hicks etc? Writing about the Law of Attraction, basicly, what you think you attract, what you imagine you become... Personally I believe that our thought create reality...and I find these books quite inspirational, I would love to know how you all connect this with our Religion? Because what I do miss in these books is the Consiousness of Allah s.w.t and the surrendering to Him. Do you believe in the law of Atraction and How do you connect it with your Faith and Surrender to Allah. s.w.t?
  21. Why is Islam the best religion? What is our position as humans? Whats the purpose of life? Why do I have problems? Why doesnt my prayers get answered? Why does Imam Hussain's sacrifice matter? Why is karbala so important? Why cant I see God? (wasalam)
  22. Salaams Brothers and Sisters, My question relates to istekhara for marriage Is it permissible for a man to do an istekhara for marrying a woman without informing her or asking her? I ask this because I have read that going against an istekhara is not allowed, so if the istekhara comes good, isn't it obligatory on BOTH of them to get married? Also, I hear istekhara can change with time. Is this true? Is it even allowed to do istekhara anymore because nowadays it's being used as a reason for not making a big decision and just relying on istekhara? When should istekhara for marriage
  23. I was watching this video on youtube. It doesnt bash religion at all, and in fact it sort of gives credibility to it. The maker of a video, near the end hints the idea that science suggests, now, that the big bag in fact, could mean that the universe was eternal. As in, so far we know from a scientific perspective, that by the big bang theory, science cannot work before the singularity, or planks time. Science cannot answer that question. Which shows a huge flaw in it. This is where now the religious folks bring God into it and say it was God who could have caused it, or it was God who created
  24. Asalaam Alaikum brothers and sisters and Ramadan Mubarak. It is early in the evening here where I live and with the cloud cover we are experiencing, we may have problems spotting the New Moon tonight. My question is does anyone know of a religious sect in parts of Iraq and Iran called the Mandeans? They believe John the Baptist to be the true messiah instead of Jesus. What is the opinion of most Muslims in regards to this religious order?
