  1. Narrated Zaid bin Thabit: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) made a small room (with a palm leaf mat). Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came out (of his house) and prayed in it. Some men came and joined him in his prayer. Then again the next night they came for the prayer, but Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) delayed and did not come out to them. So they raised their voices and knocked the door with small stones (to draw his attention). He came out to them in a state of anger, saying, "You are still insisting (on your deed, i.e. Tarawih prayer in the mosque) that I thought that this prayer (Tarawih) might become obligatory on you. So you people, offer this prayer at your homes, for the best prayer of a person is the one which he offers at home, except the compulsory (congregational) prayer." Sahih al-Bukhari Book 78, Hadith 140 http://sunnah.com/bukhari/78/140 Narrated Zaid bin Thabit: The Prophet (ﷺ) took a room made of date palm leaves mats in the mosque. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) prayed in it for a few nights till the people gathered (to pray the night prayer (Tarawih) (behind him.) Then on the 4th night the people did not hear his voice and they thought he had slept, so some of them started humming in order that he might come out. The Prophet (ﷺ) then said, "You continued doing what I saw you doing till I was afraid that this (Tarawih prayer) might be enjoined on you, and if it were enjoined on you, you would not continue performing it. Therefore, O people! Perform your prayers at your homes, for the best prayer of a person is what is performed at his home except the compulsory congregational) prayer." (See Hadith No. 229,Vol. 3) (See Hadith No. 134, Vol. 8) Sahih al-Bukhari Book 96, Hadith 21 http://sunnah.com/bukhari/96/21 So the question is, whose sunnah is being followed when tarawih is prayed in congregation at mosques?

  3. Are Allah and the Prophet more Qualified to Appoint the Caliph or the People? To start the discussion I quote the following verse: ShakirAnd when your Lord said to the angels, I am going to place in the earth a Caliph, (2:30) In this verse Allah swt has mentioned that He will make a Caliph in the Earth, showing only he appoints the Caliph.
  4. I send my condolonces to you all for the death of the son of our beloved Prophet Muhammed (s.a.a.w.w.), Ibrahim a.s., [Inappropriate language was removed from this post.] "Dear Ibrahim! We can't do anything for you. Divine Will can't be changed. Your father's eyes shed tears, and his heart is sad and grieved for your death. However, I will not say anything which may invite the wrath of Allah. If there had not been the true and certain promise of Allah that we too shall come after you, I would have wept more and become more grieved at the separation from you".1 These sentences were uttered by the Prophet of Islam while mourning for his dear son Ibrahim, who was breathing his last in the lap of his kind father. The Prophet had fixed his kind lips on the rosy face of his son and bade him goodbye with a very sad face and a heavy heart and at the same time with full submission to the Will of Allah. Love for one's off-spring is one of the purest and most sublime manifestations of human spirit and is a sign of health and purity of one's soul. The Prophet used to say: "Be gentle to your children and display kind sentiments for them.2Furthermore, kindness and love for children was one of his most pleasing attributes.3 During the past years the Prophet had been faced with the death of three sons named Qasim, Tahir and Tayyib4 and three daughters named Zaynab, Ruqayyah and Umme Kulsum and had been deeply grieved on this account. After their death his only surviving child and the souvenir of his esteemed wife Khadijah was Fatimah. In 6 A.H. the Prophet sent ambassadors to foreign countries including Egypt. He sent a letter to the ruler of Egypt inviting him to accept Islam. Although he did not apparently give a positive reply to the Prophet's call, he sent him a respectful reply along with some presents including a slave-girl named Marya. This slave-girl later acquired the honour of becoming the Prophet's wife and gave birth to his son Ibrahim, who was loved very much by him. The birth of Ibrahim diminished to some extent the unpleasant effects caused by the death of his six children, and provided him consolation. However, to his great sorrow Ibrahim also passed away after eighteen months. The Prophet had gone out of the house on some business when he came to know about the critical condition of his child. He returned home, took the child from his mother's lap, and while signs of uneasiness were apparent from his face, he uttered the sentences quoted before. The mourning of the Prophet for his son is a sign of his human sentiments, which continued even after the death of the child, and manifestation of sentiments and expression of grief was a sign of his kind nature, which showed itself involuntarily throughout his life. As regards his not uttering anything against the pleasure of Allah, was a sign of his faith and resignation to the Divine Will, which none can escape. Baseless Objection Abdur Rahman bin Awf, who belonged to a family of the Ansar, was surprised to see the Prophet shedding tears. He objected to it saying: "You have been restraining us from weeping for the dead. How is it that you are now shedding tears at the death of your son? " The objector was not only not aware of the sublime basic principle of Islam but was also ignorant of the spirit and special sentiments with which the Almighty has endowed human beings. All human instincts have been created for particular purposes and it is necessary that everyone of them should manifest itself at its proper time and place. A person who is not moved by the death of his near ones, whose heart does not move, whose eyes do not shed tears, in short, who does not display any reaction on account of being separated from them is nothing more than a stone, and should not be called a human being. However, a delicate and appreciable point deserves attention here for although this objection was baseless, it tells us that complete freedom and perfect democracy existed in the newly formed society of the Muslims at that time, so that a person could pick up courage to comment upon the action of his absolute ruler with perfect freedom and without any fear or awe and could also get a reply. The Prophet replied: "I have never said that you should not weep on the death of your dear ones, because it is a sign of kindness and pity and a person whose heart is not moved for others does not become entitled to the blessings of Allah.5 I have said that you should not make excessive lamentations on the death of your near ones and neither utter indecent or objectionable words nor tear your dress out of too much grief".6 As directed by the Prophet the Commander of the Faithful washed the dead body of Ibrahim and shrouded him. Then the Prophet and some of his companions escorted the funeral party and buried the child in the Baqi' graveyard.7 The Prophet looked into the grave of Ibrahim and saw a pit in a corner thereof. In order to level it he sat down on the ground, smoothed the surface of the grave with his own hands, and uttered this sentence: "Whenever anyone of you does a job he should endeavour to do it in a solid way". Campaign Against Superstitions Solar eclipse took place on the day Ibrahim passed away. Some persons, who were ignorant of the laws of nature, thought that the sun had been eclipsed on account of the death of Ibrahim. Although this thinking was absolutely baseless, it could apparently be beneficial for the Prophet. In case, therefore, he had been an ordinary and a worldly leader he could very well confirm this view and thus prove his own magnificence and greatness. However, as opposed to this thinking, he mounted the pulpit and informed the people of the factual position. He said: "O People! Be it known to you that the sun and the moon are the signs of the Power of Allah. They move in a particular course which Allah has prescribed for them according to the laws of nature. They are not eclipsed on account of the death or birth of anyone. It is your duty, at the time of solar eclipse, to offer prayers".8 As opposed to many people, who not only interpret facts in their own favour but also take advantage of the ignorance and superstitious thinking of the people, he did not conceal facts and did not try to profit from the ignorance of the people. If he had endorsed this false thinking on that day he could not have been able to signalize himself and claim to be the eternal leader of mankind and the representative and the chosen one of Allah during the present age when astronomy has taken long strides and the reasons for the solar and lunar eclipses have become clearly known to mankind. His law and call are not for Arabs alone and are not confined to any time and space. If he is the leader of those, who lived in earlier ages, he is also the Prophet of the space age and of the period of the discovery of the secrets of nature. On whatever subject he has spoken, his words are so sound and firm that the recent scientific upheavals, which have disproved many of the theories of the past scholars, have not been able to find even one weak point in his statements.
  5. Salaam dear brothers and sisters, One of my Sunni friends told me something obscure (at least for me). He described to me a happening during the time of rassulallah (s.a.w.w). He said that once imam ali(a.s) missed his asr prayer and he came crying to the prophet about this. the prophet then order the sun to go back, and it did go back. This way he was able to correct this and pray asr on time. This is what he says is the reason why we shias combine our prayers. it may not be exactly what he said but as the friend told me this quite a while back, this is what i remembered. I just want to know if there is anything similar to this event that exists in hadith books. and how am i suppose to reply him in this regard. Jazakallah kair in advance for your patience and reply. wasalaam.
  6. AOA fellows, I had some questions in my mind for long and so i decided to post them on the forum.i know that my questions are basic and are a fundamental part of the Muslim faith but I never had an answer that could satisfy me. I would be really thankful if anyone could clear my confusions regarding TAUHID and Prophethood and other topics 1.The proof of the existence of a god 2.what makes us believe the fact that Islam is the right religion? 3.Why was Muhammad(PBUH) the last Prophet? every community before got a prophet and the answer that scholars provide to this is that they needed guidance. Why is that we have no prophet in this era who could guide us? are w better than those before us? 4.Why is that Allah revealed many religions (Judaism, christianity etc) before the introduction of Islam? i would be really thankful if anyone could help..

    Virtues of Ibrahim (A.S)

I just wanted to see fellow shia's view on prophet Ibrahim (a.s) and how he corresponds on the greatest creation list. I personally think he is the second best creation and that if it wasn't for him, Allah would not have made among his offspring the 12 imams were it not for his dua.
  8. Salam Aleykom! I am new to this forum so I hope I've chosen the right forum for this question. My friend's brother who is Sunni and I were talking where he told me that he had a "Shiabook" where there was a hadith stating that Prophet Muhammad (saw) said that Imam Ali (a.s) is like Surat Qul Hu Allahu Ahad in the Qur’an, therefore he said that the hadith is stating that Imam Ali (a.s.) is like Allah swt (Stagfurallah). However when I searched for the hadith, I found that one of the sources was "Muslim", one of Sunni's most authentic hadith collections. Anyone who knows if this really is included in Muslim because I can't find anything, also are the other sources that's stated from Sunni books and are they "Sahih" (i.e is this hadith considered sahih by sunnis)? “The position of Ali (A.S) amongst the people is like Surat Qul Hu Allahu Ahad in the Qur’an.” Muslim, 1/48; Al-Tirmidhi, 2/299; Al-Nisa’i, 27; Musnad Ahmad, 6/299; Ibn Al-Maghazeli, 191. Also is this hadith classed as Sahih by Shias? And what does this hadith really mean? /Mohamed
  9. Selam Guys, I have been working on unique ways to educate the masses. ------------------- THE HUMAN BODY MENTIONED IN QURAN http://www.OrganisedQuran.com/#!physicalbody/c1hz2 Select your body part and every mention of your selection in Quran The selection choices are: Head; which includes Hair, Forehead, Eyes, Nose, Ears, Mouth, Cheeks and Chin Neck, Body, Arms, Hands, Genitalia, Legs, Feet or Miscellaneous to the right ------------------- PROPHET STUDY TOOL http://www.OrganisedQuran.com/#!prophet-study-tool/csl2 What I've done is taken every reference and life of each prophet and put it together. Got to www.islamawakened.com/index.php/qur-an Select your Ayat. Select the tab "word for word" (Each word has an audio to hear it's pronunciation) Under each word are Arabic hyperlinked letters, these letters are called root letters. When selected every instance of the words ROOTS is displayed. In Arabic, Transliteration and English. ROOT LETTERS IS THE MOST ADVANCED WAY OF STUDYING THE QURAN. IT SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCES HUMAN ERROR OF THE TRANSLATION What is root letters? If you speak a European language, the root system of Arabic may be an unfamiliar concept. Arabic words are made from a few component letters, commonly called a "root". A root usually consists of three letters (sometimes 2 or 4), which convey a basic idea. By adding various vowels (i.e. changing pronunciation) as affixes*, associated meanings can be derived. For example, the Arabic letters: Siin–Lam–Miim س ل م ( remembering Arabic words go from right to left, unlike English) are the root for the following words: salaam (peace), islam (submission/compliance/conformance/surrender), muslim (one who submits/complies/conforms/surrenders). In all these words, you will see the root (component letters) are the same, and in the same order. In a root language, words mean what they mean because they are built from other words; these base words are called roots. Now, while most languages are concept languages, there are some words that can be likened to the root system, e.g: if you learn what the word "act" means, you should have no problem when you hear the word "actor" or "action" - you use the root to understand the word built from the root. Classical Arabic as one of the most primitive Semitic languages is primarily a root language. Almost every word gets its meaning from the roots it is built from rather than by associating a concept with the word. This gives Arabic an almost crystal clear aspect to it; there is little ambiguity or confusion in a classical Arabic sentence. The language is one of clarity, directness, and certainty - qualities that are hard to achieve in other languages. I have also added Laleh Bakhtiar short concordance and for every word Iand show a dictionary meaning from Hans Wehr. Insha'Allah this helps you all in your studies.
  10. I'm looking for a Sunni hadith that explicitly says EVERY SINGLE prophet is higher in rank than EVERY SINGLE non-prophet human being because as we all know Sunnis zealously hold that opinion but I want to know whether it's an innovation in their sect or that there is an actual SAHIH hadith in their books in this regard. So far I'm of the opinion that it's a really ridiculous and dangerous innovation with no proof whatsoever to back it up. Thanks.
  11. Salam :) Does anyone know any short stories or hadeeths of the prophet? Appreciated! W/Salam.
  12. Names of Partners beside Allah: 010:066 Look! To Allah indeed belongs whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth. What do they pursue who invoke partners besides Allah? They merely follow conjectures and they just make surmises. 006:100 They make the jinn partners of Allah, though He has created them, and carve out sons and daughters for Him, without any knowledge. Immaculate is He and exalted above what they allege [concerning Him]! The jinns are partners to Allah swt. Quran mentions about the Prophet: saww 003:031 Say, ‘If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.’ 003:032 Say, ‘Obey Allah and the Messenger.’ But if they turn away, indeed Allah does not like the faithless. The Prophet is to be OBEYED unconditionally to get Allah’s love. Allah swt praises the prophet with the following words: 053:001 In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. By the star when it sets: 053:002 your companion has neither gone astray, nor amiss. 053:003 Nor does he speak out of [his own] desire: 053:004 it is just a revelation that is revealed [to him], Do not invoke any God / Illah for worship beside Allah: 018:014 and fortified their hearts, when they stood up and said, ‘Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. We will never invoke any god besides Him, for then we shall certainly have said an atrocious lie. 028:088 And do not invoke another god besides Allah; there is no god except Him. Everything is to perish except His Face. All judgement belongs to Him, and to Him you will be brought back. Auliya (not chosen by Allah) are Partners to Allah: 007:194 Indeed, those you [polytheists] call upon besides Allah are servants like you. So call upon them and let them respond to you, if you should be truthful. 007:195 Do they have feet by which they walk? Indeed, to the faithless, their scheming is presented as decorous, and they have been barred from the way; and whomever Allah leads astray, has no guide. 053:023 These are but names, which you have coined—you and your fathers—for which Allah has not sent down any authority. They follow nothing but conjectures and the desires of the [lower] soul, while there has already come to them the guidance from their Lord. 053:019 Have you considered Lat and ‘Uzza? 053:020 and Manat, the third one? The above verse mentions clearly three (3) names (including Lat, Munaat and Uzza ) are Partners to Allah swt. Thus to avoid these partners we should obey Allah swt, the Prophet and Imams from Ahl albayt as as given under verses ( like 5:55, 56 and 4:59). The discussion can be concluded by the following verse: [This is] a blessed Book that We have sent down to you, so that they may contemplate its signs, and that those who possess intellect may take admonition. 038:029 ( Regards
020:090 Aaron had certainly told them earlier, ‘O my people! You are only being tested by it. Indeed your Lord is the All-beneficent. So follow me and obey my command!’ This verse was revealed describing the Haroon told his people that they should follow him and obey him. If we look in the quran then this word فَٱتَّبِعُونِى has been used only in two verses of quran. First in the verse 3:31 as given below where the prophet Muhammad saww has said that the Muslims should follow him. 003:031 Say, ‘If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.’ In the light of Hadith Manzila Imam Ali has same relation with the Prophet as Haroon has to Musa. The quran confirms that haroon was minister / adviser and successor after Musa like wise as per hadith Manzila Imam Ali is minister and successor after the Prophet Muhammad saww. This hadith also confirms the Ghadeer declaration. Also the verse (20:90) "Fatab-uni" confirms that the Children of Israel should follow Haroon in succession to Mosa as likewise Imam Ali should be followed in succession of Muhamamd saww. Also the people should obey Imam Ali likwsie they were ordered to obey haroon as. now we continue research on أَطِيعُوٓا۟ as mentioned in the verse given above. There are 5 verses in quran where this word (أَطِيعُوٓا۟ ) has been used twice those are given below: 2. 004:059 O you who have faith! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those vested with authority among you. And if you dispute concerning anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you have faith in Allah and the Last Day. That is better and more favorable in outcome. 3. 024:054 Say, ‘Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger.’ But if you turn your backs, [you should know that] he is only responsible for his burden and you are responsible for your own burden, and if you obey him, you will be guided, and the Messenger’s duty is only to communicate in clear ter 4. 005:092 And obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and beware; but if you turn your backs, then know that Our Messenger’s duty is only to communicate in clear terms. 5. 047:033 O you who have faith! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and do not render your works void. 6. 064:012 Obey Allah and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away, then Our Messenger’s duty is only to communicate in clear terms. Now after those there are 9 verses including (vesre 20:90 given above) in which the word أَطِيعُوٓا۟ (Obey) has been used only once. Thus this word has been used in total 14 verses in quran. 7. 003:032 Say, ‘Obey Allah and the Messenger.’ But if they turn away, indeed Allah does not like the faithless. 8. 008:020 O you who have faith! Obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not turn away from him while you hear [him]. 9. 8:1 They ask you concerning the anfaal. Say, ‘The anfaal belong to Allah and the Messenger.’ So be wary of Allah and settle your differences, and obey Allah and His Messenger, should you be faithful. 10. 008:046 And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute, or you will lose heart and your power will be gone. And be patient; indeed Allah is with the patient. 11. 024:056 Maintain the prayer and give the zakat, and obey the Messenger so that you may receive [Allah’s] mercy. 12. 058:013 Were you dismayed by having to offer charities before your private talks? Since you did not do it, and Allah has excused you [for not be able to comply], now maintain the prayer and pay the zakat, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah is well aware of what you do. 13. 003:132 and obey Allah and the Messenger so that you may be granted [His] mercy. 14. 064:016 So be wary of Allah, as much as you can, and listen and obey, and spend [in the way of Allah]; that is better for yourselves. Those who are saved from their own greed—it is they who are the felicitous. This confirms that we should obey the prophet and (his 13 ahl albaayt) including 12 Imams. These verses mentions to obey Allah swt, The prophet saww and Imams the first one of them is Ali and last is Imam Al Mahdi as per prophet sayings. These verses provide clear proofs of obeying Allah, Prophet Muhammad, 13 members of Ahl albayat including 12 Imams. 038:029 [This is] a blessed Book that We have sent down to you, so that they may contemplate its signs, and that those who possess intellect may take admonition.

  15. (salam) My question regards the Shia belief on the amount of Ilm al-Ghayb the 14 Infallibles possess. I do not believe that these personalities have no knowledge of the unseen at all, I am only asking how much they have. Some people claim that the Prophets/Imams knew just about everything, especially the happenings of the past, present and future. Some hadith, like the ones talking about the books al-Jafr and al-Jamia, seem to suggest this point. Others say that the Masumeen did not have exclusive knowledge of the past, present, and future, just some portions of the unseen which Allah chose to bestow on them. This seems to be evident from a large number of hadith, in which, the Imams saying something as simple as "Who are you?" or "What did you do?" implies their incomplete knowledge of the past, present, and future. This view also seems in line with the verses of the Qur'an, such as these: Sahih International And they say, "Why is a sign not sent down to him from his Lord?" So say, "The unseen is only for Allah [to administer], so wait; indeed, I am with you among those who wait." Sahih International Say, [O Muhammad], "I do not tell you that I have the depositories [containing the provision] of Allah or that I know the unseen, nor do I tell you that I am an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me." Say, "Is the blind equivalent to the seeing? Then will you not give thought?" I am not trying to say that these verses show that the Prophet had no knowledge of the unseen at all. However, these verses do seem to show that his, and the Imams', knowledge of the unseen is much less than we try to make out. So, to summarize, could someone please clarify and confirm how much of the Knowledge of the Unseen the 14 Infallibles possessed (especially concerning the past, present and future)? (wasalam)
  16. (bismillah) (salam) I hope you are all in the best of health and most firm in your Imaan. The separation of the Church and the state has been a matter of profound debate over the past few centuries. While I'm not here to discuss the issue in general - because that has been done to death already - I did find a particularly interesting video on the matter: https://youtu.be/EbUUNonUgE8 You can skip to around 3:40 for the relevant part but I would suggest watching the whole thing. Anyways, the part which piqued my interest most was when the scholar argued that hypocrisy is a natural product of an ideological state and that even in the time of the Prophet himself, this is something that could not be countered or mitigated, regardless of how perfect the ruler might be. This was particularly interesting for me and there are two aspects of this that I would like you guys to discuss and give your opinions about: 1. Is hypocrisy, as he states, a natural and inevitable product of an ideological state, such that in a secular state the problem would not exist at all? 2. This argument implies that even the Prophet's rule was not perfect. Now, we all know that it was, indeed, not perfect as there were bad people and so on but we mostly interpret that as a problem resulting from the bad people and that the system itself was perfect in and of itself (just like God created a perfect system but evil exists because of the people, to give a relatively similar analogy). This argument, however, claims an imperfection within the system itself. Do you agree or disagree? Or, would you just argue that this is an example of a problem resulting from the actions of the people and not a fundamental flaw in the system itself? Thanks.
  17. I want to ask the shias who they believe to be superior their 12 imams or the prophets? state you opinions and reasons why they are superior?

    Wali And His Authority

WALi and their Authority: 1- We need to know in the light of Quranic verses that who are Wali? 2- What is the Authority of Wali? A- Identification of Wali: 1- Allah is Wali of believers: Allah is the guardian of those who believe. He brings them out of the darkness into the light; (2:257) Surely my guardian is Allah, Who revealed the Book, and He befriends the good. And He it is Who sends down the rain after they have despaired, and He unfolds His mercy; and He is the Guardian, the Praised One. (42:28) Thus these verses prove that Allah is the Wali of believers. 2- The Prophet and Believers are also Wali: Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends rather than believers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming. Those who take the unbelievers for guardians rather than believers. Do they seek honor from them? Then surely all honor is for Allah. O you who believe! do not take the unbelievers for friends rather than the believers; do you desire that you should give to Allah a manifest proof against yourselves? General Meaning of Wali: And (as for) the believing men and the believing women, they are guardians of each other; they enjoin good and forbid evil and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, and obey Allah and His Messenger; (as for) these, Allah will show mercy to them; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise. (9:71) Special Meaning of Wali: Wila' in its special sense is the wila' of Ahlu 'l-bayt, the Household of the Prophet. There can be no room for debate over the fact that the noble Prophet has called and directed the Muslims to a kind of wila' in connection with his pure, sinless family; that is to say that even scholars from the Sunni sect make no controversy over this. The aayah of the pure relatives: Say: "I do not ask of you any reward for it but love of my near relatives" (42: 23) Sets down the matter of wila' in its special meaning. And it is also present in the famous and uncontested hadith of Ghadiri, where it is said: مَنْ كُنْتُ مَوْلاهُ فَهذا عَلِيٌ مَوْلاهُ “For whomsoever I am his mawla, `Ali is his mawla.” Hadith Thaqlayn: The Prophet chose his Household for the leadership and Imamate. He said: إِنّي تارِكٌ فِيكُمُ اَلَثَقَلَيْنِ: كِتابَ اللهِ وَ عِتْرَتي أَهْلَ بَيْتي, وَ إِنَّهُما لَنْ يَفْتَرِقا حَتَى يَريدا عَليّ الحَوْضَ, فَلا تَقَدَّمُوهُما فَتَهْلكِوا, وَ لا تَقْصُرواعَنْهُما فَتَهْلكِوا, وَ لا تُعَلِّمُوهُم فَإْنَّهُمْ اَعْلَمُ مِنْكُمْ “I leave among you two precious things: the Book of Allah and my Household. These two will not be separated until they encounter me at the pool of Kawthar (in Paradise). Do not run ahead of them, for you will be ruined; do not neglect them, for you will be ruined. And do not seek to instruct them, for they are wiser than you.” Only Allah is your Vali and His Messenger and those who believe, those who keep up prayers and pay the poor-rate while they bow. And whoever takes Allah and His messenger and those who believe for a guardian, then surely the party of Allah are they that shall be triumphant. (5:56) Fakhru'd-Din ar-Razi, who, like az- Zamakhshari, is one of the great men of the Sunni school and of the whole community, said: "This ayah was revealed concerning `Ali, and scholars are all in agreement that the payment of zakat in the time of ruku` (the position of bowing down in prayer) did not take place except in the case of 'Ali."'(at-Taf siru 'l-kabir, vol.xii, p.30. (Egyptian print- ing, 1357) 3- The Shaitan is Wali (other than Allah): وَمَن يَتَّخِذِ الشَّيْطَانَ وَلِيًّا مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَقَدْ خَسِرَ خُسْرَانًا مُّبِينًا and whoever takes the Shaitan for a guardian rather than Allah he indeed shall suffer a manifest loss. O my father! surely I fear that a punishment from the Beneficent Allah should afflict you so that you should be a friend of the Shaitan. By Allah, most certainly We sent (messengers) to nations before you, but the Shaitan made their deeds fair-seeming to them, so he is their guardian today, and they shall have a painful punishment. (16:63) 4- Meaning of taking Wali other than Allah: Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians besides Him, how little do you mind. (7:3) This means that we should not take the Shaitan as Wali / guardian. Those who are appointed by Allah are Wali including messenger, Imam Ali (& 11 Imams after him), we shall follow them (as mentioned in verse 5:55, 56). وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَوْلِيَاؤُهُمُ الطَّاغُوتُ يُخْرِجُونَهُم مِّنَ النُّورِ إِلَى الظُّلُمَاتِ ۗ أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ and (as to) those who disbelieve, their guardians are Shaitans who take them out of the light into the darkness; they are the inmates of the fire, in it they shall abide. O children of Adam! let not the Shaitan cause you to fall into affliction as he expelled your parents from the garden, pulling off from them both their clothing that he might show them their evil inclinations, he surely sees you, he as well as his host, from whence you cannot see them; surely We have made the Shaitans to be the guardians of those who do not believe. A part has He guided aright and (as for another) part, error is justly their due, surely they took the Shaitans for guardians beside Allah, and they think that they are followers of the right (7:30) And when We said to the angels: Make obeisance to Adam; they made obeisance but Iblis (did it not). He was of the jinn, so he transgressed the commandment of his Lord. What! would you then take him and his offspring for friends rather than Me, and they are your enemies? Evil is (this) change for the unjust. (18:50) So the Shaitan is addressed as the Wali other than Allah, instead of those who are appointed by Allah (the prophet and imams).. B- The Authority of Prophet and Imam (Wali): "Wilayat," derived from wila,' means power authority or a right of certain kind. In Shi'a theology, "wilayat" is the authority invested in the Prophet and the Ahlul Bayt as representatives of Almighty Allah on this earth. According to the late Murtaza Mutahhari, wilayat has four dimensions: -The right of love and devotion (wila'-e muhabbat): This right places the Muslims under the obligation of loving the Ahlul Bayt. -The authority in spiritual guidance (wila-'e imamat): This reflects the power and authority of the Ahlul Bayt in guiding their followers in spiritual matters. -The authority in socio-political guidance (wila'-e zi 'amat): This dimension of wilayat reflects the right that the Ahlul Bayt have to lead the Muslims in social and poitical aspects of life. -The authority of the universal nature (wila-e tasarruf): This dimension reflects universal power over the entire universe that the Prophet and Ahlul Bayt have been vested with by the grace of Almighty Allah. 1-The First Dimension: The Right of Love All Muslims unanimously accept the first dimension of wilayat of Ahlul Bayt. Loving the Ahlul Bayt is one of the essential parts of the Islamic faith." The inclusion of salawat in the daily ritual prayers is a sufficient proof of this. (Verse 42:23) 2-The second Dimension: The Right of Imamate Wila' meaning Imamate and leadership; or, in other words, the position of authority in the din (to which matters are referred for decision), that is, a position which others should follow, should take as an example for their actions and behavior, from whom they should learn the precepts of the din; or yet again, supremacy. (hadith thaqlayn, and verse of wilaya 5:55) 3-The Third & Fourth Dimensions: Socio-Political & Universal Authority The third and fourth dimensions of wilayat are also considered as part the essential parts of Shi'a believe." It is important to note the term "Imamate" or "Imam", encompasses all the four dimensions of wilayat. It includes the spiritual and universal authority and the social and political leadership. The fourth dimension is the universal authority that the Prophet and the Ahlul Bayt have been vested with by the Almighty Allah. It is an authority that makes it possible for the wali to exercise his power over everything that exists. In the words of Ayatullah al-Khumayni, "It is a vicegerency pertaining to the whole of creation, by virtue of which all the atoms in the universe humble themselves before the holder of authority."This authority of the chosen servant of Allah is totally dependent on His discretion and power. It should not be seen in the horizontal form but in the vertical form vis-a-vis the power of Almighty Allah. As long as we maintain the vertical hierarchy of the power, we have safeguarded the tawhid (unity of oneness). For example, all Muslims believe that it is Allah who gives life and death to the People. The Qur'an itself says, "Allah takes the souls at the time of their death." (39; 42) But at the same time, the Qur'an also attributes death to the angels by saying, "Say: It is the angel of death (who is given charge of you) who shall cause you to die." (32: 11) If you place the verses in the vertical form (with the power of the angels beneath and dependent upon the power of Allah), then you have safeguarded the tawhid. Similarly, if we place power and authority of the Prophets and the Imams in the vertical form (with the certain beleif that their power is beneath and dependent upon the power of Allah), then we have safeguarded the tawhid as well as the status of the chosen servants of Allah. The Qur'an gives various examples of the persons who had been given the authority on the universe. 1. Describing the powers that Allah, swt, had given to Prophet Isa bin Maryam (as), the Qur'an quotes him as follows: " I make out of the clay the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and becomes a [real, living, flying] bird with Allah's permission; I heal the blind and the leprous; and I bring the dead back to life with Allah's permission; and I inform you what you are eating and what you store in your houses ..." (3:48) 2. Describing the powers given to Prophet Sulayman, the Qur'an says: " Then We made the wind subservient to him; it blew by his command gently to wherever he desired. And (We also made subservient to him) the jinn: each (of them as) builder and diver, and others fettred in chains. This is Our gift, therefore give freely or withhold, without reckoning. Most surely he had a nearness to Us and an excellent resort." (38:36-40 also 21:81-82) 3. Describing the power of Asif bin Barkhiya, the vizier of Prophet Sulayman, the Qur'an describes the scene of the moments before the Queen of Sheba and her entourage came to visit him : "He (Sulayman) said, O Chiefs which one of you can bring her to me (i.e Queen of Sheba's) throne before they come to me in submission.' One audacious among the jinn, I will bring it to you before you rise from your place : and most surely I am strong and trustworthy for it. (But) one who had the knowledge of some of the Book said, I will bring it to you in the twinkling of an eye. Then when he saw it (i. e. the throne) settled beside him, he said. This is the grace of my lord that He may try me whether I am grateful or ungrateful ..."' ( 27; 38-40) In these three example from the Qur'an, we see that Almighty Allah had blessed some of his chosen servants with the power to breathe life to a shape of an animal, to bring the dead back to life, to cure the blind and the leprous, to subjugate the jinn for their work, to bring an item from far away in the twinkling of an eye, etc. These examples are sufficient to how those such powers can be given and have been given by Allah to those whom He likes. Allah has given various ranks to the Prophets and messengers (2: 253; 17; 55), and all Muslims are unanimous in believing that the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad al-Mustafa, is higher in rank than all the Prophets and messengers. All Prophet and (As-Sadiq, I'tiqadat, p.92-93; in its English translation, the Shi'ite Creed, p.84-85; al-Majlisi, "Risala fi l-I'tiqadat," p.310 ) messengers had come to prepare their societies for the acceptance of the final and universal Messenger of God, Muhammad (s. w. a.). If prophets like Sulayman, Dawud, 'Isa, and Musa, and also Sulayman's vizier, Asif, were blessed with power over the nature, then it follows by necessity that Prophet Muhammad must have been blessed with greater power over the universe. Two examples have been cleanly mentioned in the Qur'an. The ability of the Prophet of Islam to travel into space and beyond with his human body (17; 1: 53: 5-18), and the parting of the moon by pointing towards it with his finger (54;1)1 During the early days in Mecca, when the idol worshippers were rejecting the claim of the Prophet, Allah revealed a verse to console him by saying : "And those who disbelieve say, You are not a messenger, Say, Allah is sufficient as a witness (between me and you) and the one who has knowledge of the Book."(13; 43) (1. On parting of the moon, see in Shi'a sources, at-Tabrasi, Majma'u l-Bayan, vol.5.p 186; at-Tabtaba'i, al-Mizan fi Tafsiri l-Qur'an, vol.19.p 60-72 who also refutes the objections raised by the materialist minded Muslims how like to interpret all such verses in metaphorical sense. In Sunni sources, see al-Fakhr ar-Razi, at -Tafsiru l-kabir, vol.15, p.26; as-Suyuti, ad-Durru l-Manthur, vol, 6.p.133; Mawdudi, Tafhim l-Qur'an, vol.5, p.230-231. 2. As-Saduq I'tiqadat, p.92-93; in its English translation, The shi'ite Creed, p.84-85; al-Majlisi, "Risala fi I-Itiqadat" p.310) Prophet Muhammad is being consoled that it doesn't matter if the idolaters do not believe in your claim; it is sufficient that Allah and the one who has knowledge of the Book are witnesses to the truth of you claim. Whom is Allah referring to as a witness to the truth of the Prophet's claim? Who is this person 'who has knowledge of the Book? According to Shi'i report, supported by Sunni sources, it refers to Ali bin Abi Talib. This was definitely no one among the companions of the Prophet who could claim that he had more knowledge about Islam than Ali bin Abi Talib. ( Among Sunni references, see Ibn al-Maghazili ash-Shafi'i, Manaqib al-Imam Ali bin Abi Talib, p.313 (hadith # 358); as-Suyuti, ad-Duru l-Manthur, vol.4. (beirut: Dar al-Fikr, n.d.) p.669; al-Qanduzi, Yanabi'u l-Muwaddah (Beirut; 1390/1970) p.121. For further refrences, see ash-Shahid at-Tusari, Ihqaqu l-Haqq, vol.3, p.280, vol.14 p.362-365, vol.20, p.75-77. For a critical review of the counter reports cited by some Sunni scholars, see at-Tabataba'i, al-Mizan, vol.11. p.423-428). If, Asif Barkhiya, Sulayman's vizier, had so much power over nature that he could bring the throne of the Queen of Sheba before the "twinkling of an eye". Asif has been described as someone who had knowledge of a portion of the Book," not "the knowledge of the entire Book." In comparison to this, Imam Ali has been described by Allah as someone who had “knowledge of the Book", not just a portion of the Book. Therefore, it is not difficult to conclude that the power of Imam Ali over nature is many degrees greater than that of Asif Barkhiya who brought the throne from far away before the "twinkling of an eye". Again, as an important reminder, that this belief is to be held in the vertical form vis-as-vis the power of Alimighty Allah, and only in that format can we preserve the concept of tawhid in which Allah is the Absolute power and source of the all power. It is to remind us of the total dependency of the chosen ones upon Allah's will and power that He commands the Prophet to say, I do not control any benefit or harm for myself except as Allah pleases." (7: 188) This is not a denial of having power; it is affirmation of the belief that whatever power he has is according to the wish and pleasure of Almighty Allah.

    Rasool Allah To Imam Ali

Sallam, What did Rasool Allah mean when he told Imam Ali "You're unto me what Aron was unto Moses" Why did he specifically use Aron and Moses? I guess I don't know the history behind it. Thanks, Sallam Alikum.

    How Did Rasuallah Die?

Sallam, I was doing research and literally hundreds of answer. How did the Holy Prophet of Islam die? If he was poisoned, who did it, and is there sources or traditions which state this. (Shia traditions of course) If a natural death, what are the sources for that as well. May Allah bless you all for taking the time to educate the ones whom have question like myself. JAK.

    Moderately Religious?

AsSalam aleykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, I am not sure if this question was asked previously since I am new here, but here is the question: Why a lot of modern muslims use term suchs as "slightly religious," " moderately religious" etc (not as something bad but rather to what extent, in their opinion, Islam should be practiced). We have a Prophet (saw) , Ahlu Bayt (a.s) and our Imams (a.s) and they all followed the same religion, in the same manner. So are we trying to say that they were (authubillah) fanatics and we should not strive to be like them? If not then why muslims are using these terms ? Or are we just covering our lack of ibada by giving it a "moderate" name not to feel too guilty? WasSalam
  22. (BISMILLAH) (Salam) So, I was reading this article recently, which claimed that Ayatollah Seestani allows the depiction of the Prophet, as long as it is respectful: "By contrast the leading figure among the Shias of Iraq, Ayatollah Sistani, has said the depiction even of Muhammad is acceptable, as long as it is done with proper reverence." I wasn't aware of this before. Can anyone provide me with a source?
  23. Salam alaikum Does anyone know anything about the flag of our prophet Saww ? I recall hearing on tv something about it being green and had the verse/ words "inna nasrAllah qareeb". Does anyone know about this? Ws
What if we compare part 3 to part 1 !? Can part 3 be about relatives of Muhammad PBUH too.
I was reading Quran today and came across this ayah (9:43) which appears like the prophet (pbuhahf) is being reprimanded by Allah (swt). Why did you give them leave before you had found out those who spoke the truth and before you had known the liars?” I tried looking for a good shia tafseer online but no luck. Does anyone know of a good tafseer explaining this ayah and how it doesn't contradict the concept of infallibility?
