  1. Salaamu Alaykum, I have so many questions about the Shia population of Europe, especially where it may overlap with the Levantine Arab population. I, myself, am Lebanese, and although I cherish the opportunity to meet new people and learn about new cultures, I sometimes feel quite alienated not being around others from my same cultural background. For personal reasons, I am considering living in Italy. Of course, I plan to visit before making any permanent changes, nevertheless, I'd like to have some idea of the situation there. If you have any information, however relevant, please enlighten me. Jazak Allah Kheir.
  2. Asalam alaykum, wara waba. Inshallah you are doing well. I just wanted to ask if anyone knew how to/where to learn the arabic language to the extent that one may understand and speak it? (I am based in London - UK). Also, I do not wish to look into University courses as I cannot attend them currently. Perhaps any useful online resources, or Husayniyahs you may know of within London which teach Arabic? Ja3zakallah.
  3. For instance, there are Lebanese that openly call themselves Muslim but they will drink, fail to pray, and wear short sleeves. Where as other Arabs like Iraqis and Gulf Arabs have the Janbiya(Bedouin headgear) and various other cultural attitudes and beliefs that facilitate in this case a closer association to Islam in comparison many Lebanese have abandoned the hijab and adopted feminist and liberal oriented lifestyle i.e. liberation from religion as opposed to following it. A close friend of mine told me that Lebanese were embarrassed to call themselves Arab with one person going as far to only eat French food to associate with another culture. I went through a quick search of each region and found these photos in the first search results: Lebanese: Iraqi: Gulf Arabs: Jordanian: Egyptian: Palestinian: Syrian: North African Arabs:
  4. Iraqi and Lebanese people both speak Arabic and have large Shia populations why is it that marriage between Lebanese and Iraqi people is so uncommon as opposed to other Arabs?
  5. Can somebody please translate this Arabic song about Moussa al-Sadr. Thanks.
