  2. Dear All, I was listening to a lecture where the speaker mentioned Imam Ali (عليه السلام) compiling Qur'an in the order of revelation and giving a very detailed tafseer during the time of him being usurped of his rightful khilafat (time he stayed silent). I wish to know where that tafseer is, as that must be the best being a tafseer from brother and waseeh of Rasool saww. Kindly enlighten. Regards,

(( إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذهِبَ عَنكُمُ الرِّجسَ أَهلَ البَيتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُم تَطهِيراً )) (الاحزاب:33) I thought I understood this verse as رجس mean shirk but looking at it again after awhile I don't understand what is rigs رجس that Allah want to purify ahlylbate from ! thanks in advance .
  5. SalamAlaikum, I am currently reading topics on Islamic hermeneutics, i.e. interpretation of the religious scripture, Quran. What is the difference between Islamic hermeneutics and TAFSEER? IHH
  6. Salamualaykum, Can anybody provide some info on these verses? Who made the supplication(s)? Was it made by one persons or different individuals? On what occasions were they made? In v193, who is the caller to faith (singular or plural)? In v194, rusulika (messenger), is it singular or plural? OK, in v190, my educated guess is that "al-bab" refers to Ahlul-Bayt (as) but may include others that came b4 them ... Overall, to me, it seems like these verses are generic and refer to all periods when believers were guided by different messengers, my wild guess
  7. السلام عليكم! I was reading Quran today and came across this ayah (9:43) which appears like the prophet (pbuhahf) is being reprimanded by Allah (swt). Why did you give them leave before you had found out those who spoke the truth and before you had known the liars?” I tried looking for a good shia tafseer online but no luck. Does anyone know of a good tafseer explaining this ayah and how it doesn't contradict the concept of infallibility?
  8. Salam. The Holy Qur'aan constitutes on two fundamental components; it's Tanzeel (Revelation) and Taweel (Exegesis). The Tanzil of the Holy Qur'aan is the revelation of it's verses and it's Taweel is the exegesis of those verses. Both components are combined together to complete the Holy Qur'aan and each one is dependent on the other. Moreover, one cannot be separated from the other in a sense that, one cannot conduct the Taweel (Exegesis) of the Qur'aan if there was no Tanzeel (Revelation) of it, because if we were to assume there was no Tanzeel, then there could not be any Taweel performed since there would be no verses to conduct the Taweel of to begin with. Like wise for the other way around, that is; if the Tanzeel of the Qur'aan occurred but there was no Taweel conducted on it, then the Holy Qur'aan would be an ambiguous codex scripture which cannot be understood to benefit mankind. With that being said, up to this point, we can affirm that the Holy Qur'aan does not consist of solely the Tanzeel, but rather it has both the Tanzeel along with Taweel working hand in hand to complete. 13. Salam. Have started a page of 'Tafseer' on my website. http://www.marefatea...ait.com/tafseer The Purpose of this page is to highlight the status & authority of the AhlulBait (as) from the verses of the Holy Quran and Tafsir from the narrations of the Imam's (as). Narrated to me (Sheikh Sadooq) Muhammad bin Husain Al-Saffar, from Abbas bin Ma'roof, from Safwaan bin Yahya, from Aba Abdillah (as): I (narrator) asked about "Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem". Imam (as) said, 'BA' is for glory of Allah, 'SEEN' is for splendor of Allah, 'MEEM' is for Kingdom of Allah. I (narrator) asked what is meant by "Allah". Imam (as) said: 'Alif' stands for the Blessing (Nemat) of our Wilayat on Gods creations. 'Laam' stands for the obligation of our Wilayat on Gods creations. And 'Hey' stands for disgrace for those who oppose Muhammad (saww) and the progeny of Muhammad (as).” [source: At-Tauheed, Sheikh Sadooq, Pg. 230] http://www.marefatea...ait.com/tafseer I will continue to post on this thread as I keep on adding on to my website for the benefit of those who are on shiachat.com Wassalam
