Salam everyone, Just had a couple questions just can't seem to find the answer to: 1) While on the menstrual cycle (haidh) does everything i touch with wet hands became najis? 2) When in the state of jannaba if I wash my hand, if I touch things with these wet hands do they become najis? 3)How so I clean my hands after touching an iteams that ia najis and wet?
  4. Salam, Sorry if this has been asked before. My question is for the ladies and please try to be considerate of my situation while replying. I’m leaving for Iraq Ziaarat with a group in a week from United States. My trip was planned just a couple of weeks ago and I was suppose to get done with my period well before the start of my trip (Hence, I didn’t take any pills to stop/delay my period). Unfortunately, my period is delayed and now it’s just 3 days before we leave for Iraq IA! There’s nothing that I can do at this time, so Im reaching out to find out what are my options in terms of visiting the shrines/Haram of the Imams while I’m in Iraq ( in case I get my period there). I’ve searched online and couldn’t find any answers. I know that a woman can’t enter a mosque or pray during her period but could you please tell me what limitations do I have have while visiting all the Holy places in Iraq? This includes Imam Ali’s house, Haram/shrine of Imam Ali, Imam Hussain, Hazrat Abbas, Imam Musa, Tilla e Zainab? Can I go in and sit in the courtyards without touching the tombs? Can I enter Masjid e Qufa? Please let me know, it would really mean a lot to me. Thahk you,
  5. Assalamualaikum, Is it better to do something that could be wajib but may be haram, or to abstain from it because it could be haram but may be wajib? Let me explain (brothers be warned, this is a menstruation question). I am a woman whose menstruation is unpredictable. I never know when it will start. Most of the time, blood is just very brief spotting rather than the start of a period, but obviously sometimes it's actually the start of menstruation. I also can't tell by the color or consistency of the blood which one it is. Whenever this happens, I'm always thrown into an ethical dilemma. Salat is wajib, but it's haram during menstruation. So I panic -- should I pray, or should I not pray? If I pray and I'm on my period, I have done something haram. But if I don't pray and it turns out I'm not on my period, I have done something haram. Normally after around 20 minutes of agonizing over this question, I opt to pray. Usually this is the right decision, but occasionally I am wrong. Rarely, I am confident that yes, I am in fact starting my period, and opt to not pray. I have been wrong, though. I am leaning towards that it is better to pray and be wrong than to not pray and be wrong. Would you agree or disagree?
  6. Assalamualaikum, I am a new convert to Shia Islam. I have some questions about menstruation and salat. 1. Do we have to make up salat missed during menstruation, or is dhikr during the time of menstruation sufficient? 2. My period is very irregular, sometimes lasting full months at a time. Do I just not do salat for months? Or is there a time when it becomes permissible to do salat during menstruation? Thank you.
  7. Salam Alaikum sisters! Many times during my period I experience so much pain that it's not even bearable. At first, when I experience the pain I start to feel sick and lightheaded and it feels like I'm going to faint any moment. I feel so cold all of a sudden but at the same time I'm starting to sweat a lot, even though I felt very cold. The cramps starts to get worse and trust me when I say that it really hurts like hell. After about 10 minutes later the dizziness goes away, but the cramps get worser and worser. I noticed that the cramps only last for about half an hour (which by the way feels like a century) until the pain comes and go in waves. After almost 2 hours I feel perfectly fine, as if nothing even happened. I have cramps almost every time when I get my period but they are bearable. But this kind of period cramps comes once in a while and I really never want to experience it again. Do you experience the same pain? If yes I really feel for you sister, what do you do against the pain?
  8. Asalam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakato I hope my sisters are all in good faith and good health inshallah <3 Before i begin, i ask again that please if there are any sneaky brothers on here, respect the situation and stop reading. Bismillah. Sisters i need your help, coming from a sunni family and being an undercover shia, i need the answer to this difficult question. Can i still fast, pray, fulfill marital obligations, etc...if i am "spotting"? As in, i'm finished my menstrual cycle but i keep seeing a little bit of blood everyday. Can i still pray? This has never happened to me before, it's only because i messed up on my contraceptives, thats what my doctor said. And i asked my mom but she is unsure of the answer, she told me that i still cannot pray. Please provide hadiths with answers if you can? Thank you sisters <3 Walaikum Asalam
  9. Salaamun 'alaykum Brothers and Sisters in Faith, I'm deeply sorry if this has been posted before or answered. Under Islamic jurisprudence a women is not allowed to pray her salah during menstruation. However, I find this difficult to understand. Firstly because Salah is the Me'raj of a believer i.e. it's the pinnacle of worship, thus I do not understand why Allah swt would deny a woman that pleasure/ascension. Secondly menstruation is a natural phenomenon that Allah swt has placed upon a woman, which she has no control over. Therefore, I would be eternally grateful if someone could explain to me the philosophy behind this ruling and how it has been derived from Qur'an and ahadith. Thank you. JazakAllah Khayr
  10. When I was a teenager I had pretty regular cycles and was always sure of when to do ghusl e haiz, but now the duration of my cycle keeps changing every month from 6 to 8 days. My question is a little difficult for me to explain so I' ll try asking with an example. If its my 7th day and I see no spotting and I consider that my period is over and do ghusl and pray and fast on the 8th day.. but just after Zuhr (on the 8th day) I see spotting. What should I do then? What is the maximum time we can wait to be sure that now we are no more in Haiz.? Should I continue with the fast even though my fast is now void? Is it valid to miss prayers to be sure that we are no more in Haiz? Which will be a greater sin.. missing prayers to be sure or praying and later on finding out that you were still in Haiz? This maybe quite confusing..but I am still waiting for replies or maybe more questions to understand my question. :) JzK!
  11. I am so confused about haydh/istihadha. It is really embarrassing because it's been over a decade that I have been dealing with these questions, but it seems like every time I am unsure about something and read the same few lines of rulings, my confusion grows worse. My period does not have a fixed time and I don't think it has a fixed duration, but maybe it does and I just can't tell because of my uncertainty about what is and is not haydh. It usually starts off light for a few hours, without the characteristics of haydh, but then it darkens and thickens (I have no idea about warmth and gushing, I have never noticed this as my flow is body temperature and I guess just drips). Is this beginning part considered haydh? More importantly, my period always tapers off such that the last few days are pink then brownish, but light, like it is diluted. It seems to match the description of istihadha, but since istihadha is meant to be odd bleeding, I am not sure whether this tapering off time should be considered istihadha. Is it? Timewise, I have something like 4-6 days of dark blood and 1-2 days of pinkish brown discharge. Anyways, last night my discharge was mostly pinkish, with a little bit of redder blood, and I didn't do ghusl because I didn't think or wasn't sure my period was over. This morning, it is just pinkish brown, and I don't expect any more blood blood, just more of this flow, and I am confused about my fast. I can stay on the safe side and do ghusl and not eat until maghrib, but I am not sure about my intention (haydh or istihadha). Please help! Honestly, part of me just wants to hear that my fast won't count regardless because I feel so bewildered by my confusion that I really could use some comfort food right now. In future years, should I do ghusl before going to bed when my period might be ending soon just in case it has ended? I follow Sistani, by the way.
