In the name of Allah, the most beneficent, the most merciful. *IN THE ADHAN The third Shahadah is something you will find never missed out in almost every single Adhan, so much so it is pretty much part of the Adhan. However, to examine the origins of the third Shahadah - and this may come as a shock to many- we need to look at our most eminent scholars who lived very close to the time of the Imams a.s, who would have been exposed to bidahs and deviance's. Now, some individuals are going to say: "It is not part of the adhan , we recite it for the intention of seeking nearness to Allah swt". Before i go on, let me add, i believe in wilayah, i believe in the twelve chosen imams of the ahlulbayt a.s, the preservers of the sunnah of Muhammed pbuh, and Ali a.s is the rightful successor of Muhammed pbuh as ordained by Allah swt. And therefore i want to copy what the Imams a.s did without adding innovations. Holy Quran: "And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has revealed," they say, "Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers doing." Even though their fathers understood nothing, nor were they guided?" However, such a view is flawed on the following premises: 1. Why did our Imams a.s, nor their companions, nor our classical scholars ever adhere to this view, or ever were informed of the added benefit of reciting it ? 2. Why did our Imams a.s not add it with the intention it is not part of the adhan, and its to seek nearness to Allah swt? 3. The fact is the 3rd shahdah being added into the Adhan came from the ghulaat who were upon ghuluw - without a doubt we can give great historical weight to this statement, and it is even testified by our classical scholars. 4. So that begs the question, why are we still doing it? Chances are, if you lived among the great shia scholars in the past, you would have never added this in the Adhan and they would have forbidden it. You may be shocked at reading the following: Allaamah Hillee(The man who wrote works on Shiism, and Ibn Taymiyyah wrote his famous refutation Minhaaj as sunnah) One of our great classical scholars (d. 726 AH) has said about the 3rd testimony in the Adhaan and Iqaamah: و لا يجوز قول «إن عليا ولي اللَّه» و «آل محمد خير البرية» في فصول الآذان، لعدم مشروعيته "And it is NOT permissible to say إن عليا ولي اللَّه and آل محمد خير البرية since there is no ruling for it in the sharee'ah" Source:1. 'Allaamah Hilli, Nihaayah Al-aHkaam fee ma'rifah al-aHkaam, vol. 1, pg. 412 ere is what Al-Toosi (one of our great reported scholars) (d. 460 AH) had to say about the 3rd testimony in the adhaan. و أمّا ما روي في شواذّ الأخبار من قول: «أشهد انّ عليا وليّ اللّه و آل محمّد خير البريّة» فممّا لا يعمل عليه في الأذان و الإقامة. فمن عمل بها كان مخطئاTranslation: "The are some odd (shaadh) reports of saying أشهد انّ عليا وليّ اللّه and آل محمّد خير البريّة. You must NOT do it in the Adhaan and Iqaamah. And whoever does this action is in mukhTi (error)" Source:1. Al-Toosi, Al-Nihaayah fee Mujarrad Al-Fiqh wa Al-Fataawaa, pg. 69 Sheikh Al Sadooq is one of our great scholars! He lived not too long after the major occultation, and infact, living so close to the time of the Imams a.s relative to the others means he had the ability to see historically events, when they originated and so on. He testifies that the addition of the third Shahadah in Adhan has come from a form of Ghullah, and that may Allah swt curse them! Here is what Al-Sadooq (d. 381 AH) has said concerning the 3rd testimony. Here are his actual words. هَذَا هُوَ الْأَذَانُ الصَّحِيحُ لَا يُزَادُ فِيهِ وَ لَا يُنْقَصُ مِنْهُ وَ الْمُفَوِّضَةُ لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ قَدْ وَضَعُوا أَخْبَاراً وَ زَادُوا فِي الْأَذَانِ مُحَمَّدٌ وَ آلُ مُحَمَّدٍ خَيْرُ الْبَرِيَّةِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَ فِي بَعْضِ رِوَايَاتِهِمْ بَعْدَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً رَسُولُ اللَّهِ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ عَلِيّاً وَلِيُّ اللَّهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَ مِنْهُمْ مَنْ رَوَى بَدَلَ ذَلِكَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ عَلِيّاً أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَقّاً مَرَّتَيْنِ وَ لَا شَكَّ فِي أَنَّ عَلِيّاً وَلِيُّ اللَّهِ وَ أَنَّهُ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَقّاً وَ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً وَ آلَهُ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ خَيْرُ الْبَرِيَّةِ وَ لَكِنْ لَيْسَ ذَلِكَ فِي أَصْلِ الْأَذَانِ وَ إِنَّمَا ذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِيُعْرَفَ بِهَذِهِ الزِّيَادَةِ الْمُتَّهَمُونَ بِالتَّفْوِيضِ الْمُدَلِّسُونَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ فِي جُمْلَتِنَاTranslation: "This is the Authentic / Correct (SaHeeH) adhaan; nothing is to be added or subtracted from it. The mufawwidah's (form of ghullah), may Allaah curse them, have fabricated traditions and have added to the adhaan مُحَمَّدٌ وَ آلُ مُحَمَّدٍ خَيْرُ الْبَرِيَّةِ (Muhammad and the family of Muhammad are the best of mankind) twice. In some of their traditions, after saying أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (I bear witness that Muhammad is the Prophet of Allaah) (they add) أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ عَلِيّاً وَلِيُّ اللَّهِ (I bear witness that 'Alee is the Walee of Allaah) twice. Among them there are others who narrate this أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ عَلِيّاً أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (I bear witness that 'Alee is the commander of the faithfull) twice. There is NO doubt that 'Alee is the walee of God and that he is the true commander of the faithful and that Muhammad and his family, peace be upon them, are the best of creatures. However, that is not [part] of the original adhaan. I have mentioned this so that those who have been accused of concocting tafweed and have insulated themselves in our ranks should be known." As Basheer Hussain Najafi has chosen to reside in Najaf, Iraq, Muhammad Hussain Najafi is the only marja' on Pakistani soil, running a Hawza in Sargodha.[1] He was included in the lists "The 500 Most Influential Muslims" for the years 2010 and 2011 Question # 1: Why is it not permitted by you to say "Ali-un-Waliullah" in azan? If we don’t say this, what is the difference between us and the others? Answer: It is established through all Shia books of Hadith, Fiqh, etc. that the azaan which was made a creed by Allah, which Allah then revealed through Jibrail (as) to the Holy Prophet (SAWAW), which the Prophet (SAWAW) first taught to Hazrat Ali (as), which Hazrat Ali (as) then taught to Hazrat Bilal (ra) and he continued to pronounce it until the demise of the Holy Prophet (SAWAW), that azaan consisted of 18 sentences i.e. this sentence was not included in it. It was the azaan which the Imams of Ahl-e-Bait (as), starting from Hazrat Imam Ali (as) until the Ghaibat-e-Kubra of Hazrat Imam Mahdi (as), used to pronounce and let others pronounce. Therefore, we also pronounce the same azaan. As far as difference with others is concerned, the difference of "Hayya ala khair-il-amal" is enough. Sallam, As we know the Hadith of the prophet (as) when Imam Hussain (as) was born they asked Imam Ali (as), what will he name him, he said it's up to the prophet (as), and when the prophet was asked, he said it was up to Allah. And I've heard multiply scholars/lecturers say that Allah gives the names of the Imams and Prophet. But in this hadith by Mufadhil Ibna Umar narrates that when Imam Jafar Al-sadiq's wife Hamida was giving birth, he went to her...and when he came back to his companions he said "Allah has gifted me with a son that resembles Nabi Musa, so I shall name him Musa." As far as I understand the Imam (as) named his son, I don't understand what the deal is here. Anyone have a reasonable answer?

O Allah, (please do) make me of his supporters, sponsors, defenders, and those who hurry in carrying out his instructions, those who comply with his orders, those who uphold him, those who precede others to implementing his will, and those who will be martyred before him. O Allah, if death that You have made inevitably and certainly incumbent upon Your servants stands between me and him, then (please do) take me out of my grave using my shroud as dress, unsheathing my sword, holding my lance in my hand, and responding to the call of the Caller who shall announce (his advent) in urban areas and deserts. O Allah, (please do) show me his magnificent mien and his praiseworthy forehead, delight my eyes by letting me have a look at him. And (please) expedite his relief, make his reappearance easy, clear a spacious space for him, guide me to follow his course, give success to his issues, and confirm his strength. O Allah, construct Your lands through him and refresh Your servants through him, For You have said, and true are Your words: “Corruption has appeared in the land and the sea on account of what the hands of men have wrought.” So, O Allah, (please) show us Your vicegerent, the son of Your Prophet, and the namesake of Your Messenger, peace be upon him and his Household, so that he shall tear up any wrong item that he will face and shall confirm and approve of the truth. O Allah, (please) make him the shelter to whom Your wronged servants shall resort, the supporter of those who cannot find any supporter save You, the reviver of the laws of Your Book that have been suspended, and the constructor of all signs of Your religion and instructions of Your Messenger, peace be upon him and his Household, that he will see. O Allah, (please) include him with those whom You protect from the domination of the aggressors. O Allah, (please) delight Your Prophet Mu¦ammad, peace be upon him and his Household, as well as all those who followed him in his promulgation by making (us) see him, and (please) have mercy upon our humiliation after him. O Allah, (please) relieve this community from the (current) grief through presenting him and expedite his advent for us: “Surely, they think it to be far off, and We see it nigh.” [do all that] In the name of Your mercy; O most merciful of all those who show mercy.   6. Sallam, What did Rasool Allah mean when he told Imam Ali "You're unto me what Aron was unto Moses" Why did he specifically use Aron and Moses? I guess I don't know the history behind it. Thanks, Sallam Alikum.
  7. Salam, I heard that at a time of severe illness of a sahabi (s.a.), Imam Ali (s.a.) visited him. He (Imam s.a) told him that he (Imam s.a.) will be there, three times, for every believer, 1. at time of death, 2. in grave and 3. in barzakh, so no need to worry about it, or afraid of it. (Please note that it doesn't mean that not to worry about their deeds, just mean that not to worry/afraid of change of environment and also to have biggest wish come true of meeting with Ameer ul Momineen s.a., and best to have him (s.a) as companion.) Can anyone please tell me the source of above story and its authentication, I will be grateful to you. Thank you.

He appreciates the opportunity granted to him to prove his abilities. His attention and sole focus is nothing but to excel and prove his sportsmanship. During the competition he will live very much like a Zaahid - he would be detached materially from the splendors and attractions of the location. He will keep away from feasting and merrymaking. He will exercise self-discipline and orient his lifestyle with the single goal of excelling in the competition. He would be cautious and wary of the dangers that could impair or harm his performance. He would be knowledgeable and learned in the ways and techniques of his sport. And when victorious, the sense of achievement and the accompanying feeling of satisfaction would suffice as his reward and compensation.   9. Asalamalikum War'hamtual, I have recently started going in to depth and educating myself through The Holy Quran, and books about Islam until I find the right Hawza to attend. So sometimes when I can't find answers I will turn to this generous site. My question I have been researching for a while now, and no luck; is about Ghadeer Khum. I know that there is a lot of narrations from both Shia and Sunni that this took place. I have no doubt that Prophet Muhammed (SWT) appointed Imam Ali (AS) as his successor but what I am confused about is: 1. Some Ulama and Ahadith say that the Ayah "Oh Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your lord, and if you do not you have not conveyed his message, and Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed Allah does not guide the disbelieving people." (Chp.5:V 67) was sent down before the event of Ghadeer and was meant to say that Imam Ali is the ​Khalif after our Prophet. My question is what is the proof that this ayah was really sent down for this reason? 2. Just a weird thought I've had, if Sunni narrators mentioned Imam Ali and the event of Ghadeer Khum, why are they Sunni?

  11. (salam) I was wondering if there are any rewards for wearing a turban to Jummah in the context of Shi'ism. In Sunni books, there is a hadith that states that if a man wears a white turban to Jummah, two angels will seek forgiveness for him from the time of his entering the masjid till Maghrib. Is there a similar belief for us? If so, then why don't more people practice it? Or does it only refer to the ulema? Salam.
  12. Imam Husain Says: "Some people worship God coveting his rewards. This is worship of merchants. Some people worship God, fearing His punishments. This is worship of slaves. Some people worship God, thanking His blessings. This is worship of the free superior persons". Some people worships God, because they fear of God's punishments. It is the worship of merchants, but it doesn’t mean that this kind of worshiping is meaningless. Actually worshiping like everything has different and prefect levels. The worship of merchants isn’t the prefect one. They are seeking interest like merchants. The second group that Imam Husain mentioned to them is those who worship God as slaves obey their boss. Slaves obey their boss because they fear of punishments and sanctions. So some people they obey God and worship Him because of hell and His Tribulation. But the most prefect and completed kind is worshiping God for His grace. As Imam Husain (s.a) worshiped him in this way at the night of Ashura. As Imam Ali (s.a) mentioned to these levels of worship of God. He says "There are people who worship Allah to gain His Favors, this is the worship of traders; while there are some who worship Him to keep themselves free from His Wrath, this is the worship of slaves; a few who obey Him out of their sense of gratitude and obligations, this is the worship of free and noble men".
  13. Salam. The Holy Qur'aan constitutes on two fundamental components; it's Tanzeel (Revelation) and Taweel (Exegesis). The Tanzil of the Holy Qur'aan is the revelation of it's verses and it's Taweel is the exegesis of those verses. Both components are combined together to complete the Holy Qur'aan and each one is dependent on the other. Moreover, one cannot be separated from the other in a sense that, one cannot conduct the Taweel (Exegesis) of the Qur'aan if there was no Tanzeel (Revelation) of it, because if we were to assume there was no Tanzeel, then there could not be any Taweel performed since there would be no verses to conduct the Taweel of to begin with. Like wise for the other way around, that is; if the Tanzeel of the Qur'aan occurred but there was no Taweel conducted on it, then the Holy Qur'aan would be an ambiguous codex scripture which cannot be understood to benefit mankind. With that being said, up to this point, we can affirm that the Holy Qur'aan does not consist of solely the Tanzeel, but rather it has both the Tanzeel along with Taweel working hand in hand to complete. On one side she was against Imam Ali and on the other the Mother of Momineen. Are we allowed to love or Hate her? Answer: Please note. The character of big personalities, The Sahabas (Companions), has been different in history from early Islamic days. The issue has been quite overstated and understated. On one side the ahl-e-sunnat hold the view that this, to be precise a couple days earlier I was listening to a clip of a scholar from the ahl-e-sunnat. He actually made the claim in regards to the Sahaba being infallible, free from error, free from sins. This is absolutely against the teachings of the Quran, history, and even against the view of the ideology of the ahl-e-sunnat itself. The Sahaba are not infallible according to their ideology. This is a very ifrati view. On one side we should keep in mind, evidently there have been different characters of the sahaba that history has noted. Both the shia and the ahl-e-sunnat brothers accept these facts. But now, after these differing characters, what do we need to do? What is our right? And how far can we pursue this right? Its clear, that during the battle of Jamal. The wife of the Holy Prophet commanded and led the army to war against Imam Ali. When the war ended, and they had been defeated and accepted defeat. Hazrat Ali got some of his men to accompany her on her camel from Basra to Medina with the utmost respect and dignity. And also got her brother to accompany her so at no point would she be disrespected. Yeah she made a mistake, and it was apparent. And we can’t be more grieved than Imam Ali was, because even when she went to war, it was with Imam Ali (A.S). So now you don’t say you are a bigger Shia than even Ali (A.S), and care more for him than even he did for himself. No one is more caring of Ali than himself. But with respect, Hazrat had her escorted to Medina. Disagreements aside, even gave a sermon and condemned her actions. BUT never did he disrespect her. Why? Because of the Prophet (S.A.W). Because of that Relation.Because of the Prophet (S.A.W). This doesn’t mean that her actions were acceptable! No, her actions were not acceptable in any way. But there are some things,.. like us, we making/make SHABIHS and Alams (Standards), and buy cloth from the stores, and even the sticks from the stores. We buy ordinary items from the stores, but when you associate them and connect them with Imam Hussain (A.S), and make it a SHABIH (replication) of Karbala. Now would you be able to disrespect it? Audience: No we can’t. Someone can say, I bought the cloth myself. Yeah you bought the cloth yourself, but when you gave it association and connection (NISBAT). Now you can’t disrespect it, although it is a normal piece of cloth. In the same way, this wife of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W). Her actions, from all angles, were insupportable and can’t be justified. What she particularly did against Imam Ali (A.S). And no one in this day and age, justifies her actions or accepts them. Even amongst the Ahl-e-sunnat, many scholars have written as well as said her actions were erred. But since she had a connection with the Prophet (S.A.W), because of this, to go to such an extent that it is a disrespect to the dignity of the Prophet, is not permitted. It is not permitted; there should never be disrespect towards the dignity of the Prophet. She was a wife nonetheless a wife of the Prophet (S.A.W), so in that respect she should not be disrespected. Her actions stand at fault, don’t go towards that. Neither are they justified in the Quran, and nor will any knowledgeable scholar justify them. Video Link with English Subtitles :
  15. Salam, I had to revise history in regard to who was the first who made the islamic coin. Sunni scholars claim that it was Abdul Malik bin Marwan. There is a narration that mentioned that the caliph summoned the imam al baqir from Madinah to ask him about it so imam baqir told him to change the roman coins to islamic coins. Shia scholars say that Imam Ali was the first who made the islamic coin and that imam sajjad, not al baqir, who was summoned by abdul malik and he told abdul malik to revert the coins to the way imam ali made them.   17. Why Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan (MWM) (Urdu: مجلس وحدت مسلمین‎) is cooperating with TuQ and letting TuQ use Shias for his ulterior purposes? TuQ has insulted Imam Ali (AS) by making statement that Imam Ali (AS) government and governments of first three caliphs were equivalent. Plus, TuQ has numerous times equated himself as Imam Hussain (AS) and his agitation as against Yazid. That is an insult to Ahlul Bayt (AS) and the sacrifice given by Imam Hussain (AS). Aren't these leaders of MWM followers of Imam Ali (AS), then why they are ignoring sayings of Imam (AS) and specifically the following one by letting themselves and common Shias of Pakistan be used by TuQ for his ulterior purposes. "Amir al-mu'minin, peace be upon him, said: During civil disturbance be like an adolescent camel who has neither a back strong enough for riding nor udders for milking." 1. قَال(عليه السلام): كُنْ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ كَابْنِ اللَّبُونِ ، لاَ ظَهْرٌ فَيُرْكَبَ، وَلاَ ضَرْعٌ فَيُحْلَبَ.
  18. I often wonder why there is so much squabbling over who deserved to be the first Caliph. I mean, beyond the sectarian religious arguments concerning right of successorship, what would Ali have done in terms of policy-making that would've been significantly different to what Abu Bakr did? Eventually, Imam Ali became the 4th Caliph anyway. How did he govern? Was he a proponent of big government, socially or economically? How did he approach welfare, housing, healthcare, employment, business? What was the amount he levied on lower class and higher class income? How did he deal with foreign nations? Did he believe in the right of a nations' sovereignty? I.e. not imposing one's values on another nation? Did he debate any issue in the legislature or put out a referendum on any issue? Or was it strictly authoritarian? It would help a great deal if someone could provide a short historical insight as to how his government operated.
