  2. Salam everyone, I am a teenager and I do TikTok videos, I started making some money and since I wasn't old enough to get paid I lied and used my sister ID and age inorder to start getting payed. I made a good amount of money then later on got banned. With that money so far I have only bought a book and then started questioning if my money is halal. Since I lied in order to get the money is that money haram now? or maybe it is haram because some say that TikTok is a haram platform it self? Now if the money is haram what would I do with the remaining amount and what should I do with the book I bought with it? Any answer helps, Thank you.
  3. I have a question, is it haram to do the thing that Christians do when they do the cross on their chest? I have seen a few Shias do it on social media to show that we don't have a problem with christians and stuff but is it haram to do it? If you don't know what I am talking about I am talking its the thing where they touch their left shoulder then their right then their forehead.
  4. It is permissible to eat food from a restaurant in the west that serves HALAL meat but also serves NON-HALAL meat too at the same time? The restaurant has advised that their chefs are mindful of the HALAL and NON-HALAL meat not cross contaminating? Can someone direct me to a page or a marja that can answer this question?
  5. I know a lot of people that cheat on there taxes. Many people justify it as being ok because everyone else does it and its not fair for they save money and the people that are honest get screwed. Could this situation be justified as being ok or what? thanks

    Is gochujang halal?

Hi, I was looking to buy gochujang which is a Korean red chilli paste, but I looked into the ingredients and it says it contains grain alcohol (ethanol) which is not najis according to ayatollah sistani and it can be consumed if the quantity is less that 2%. Alcohol can be present due to two reasons, one is that it's naturally occurring because of fermentation, and other is that it is added to preserve freshness. So in these both cases, is it permissible to eat the product. Also I would be using it in cooking so the alcohol evaporates. Any feedback would be appreciated Thank you
  7. I want to adopt a Cat, but some people and my family don't agree with it and don't alow me. They say that Cat is a Haram animal and it will have negative effects in our home. Is this thought correct? I can take care of this animal and complete its every need as I have affection for these creatures and love them.
  8. I recently signed up on a site, where you get paid for doing other people's homework. I've rejected every assignment proposal that has asked for acknowledgement that the student has done it himself. I refrain from attempting tests or quizzes for people as well. Doing homework for people can be considered as help init? Just like your household or your tutor help you (that's my opinion). If anyone knows a proper mushtahid's verdict on the topic, feel free to answer, thank you!
  9. salam alykum wrwb. according to the above verse, we are told not to spy on each other. Now, in these advanced times where it is much easier to spy on the ordinary & make money out of it. is that money made out of spying on the life of someone halal? it is wrong in my head & oppressive, but not so in else's head. what about yours? ws
  10. Asalamu aleykum my brothers and sisters I want to ask help for this bad problem? I feel me very ashamed about this ASTAGHFIRULLAH and i want to finally leave it! Its a sin which follows me since my childhood and its masturbation. Maybe some will be shocked and I also read in a Hadiths that mastubation is a way to hell. I love Allah, the Quran and the Ahlul Bayt and i dont want to disapointed them with this, because i want also take responsibility when i want to marry a future wive, to be muslim father/husband and the masturbation destroys me physically and mentally and its need to stop. I even started to not do it for 2 weeks but it came back automatically in some pornography websites when something give me a influence like social media or even not from social media. I tried often not to use electronic things like smartphones or computer, but its impossible because i need to connect with people when its really important. I hope you can help me in some way, and please make Dua for me to stop it. Wa salam
  11. Hi all, I've many questions which I'd like to ask in this thread, please bear with me and I'd kindly ask you, please please please, try not to judge me as much. Before I get started, I'd like to let you know I'm a 14 year old boy who has fallen DEEP into committing the sin of masturbation. I'm not trying to return back to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) and I'd like some advice and I had some questions. Firstly, I'd like to know how I can quit of doing this sin. It's become very extreme, even to the point where I'm doing it even when I'm fasting in the holy month of ramadan. I've tried many ways, different techniques, but to no avail, I could barely go up to a week without pornography and/or masturbation. Furthermore, I follow sistani as my marja' so please when answering try to show as much proof. Secondly, I had 2 questions. Regarding the masturbation that I did in ramadan and while I was fasting during daylight hours, no ejaculation has happened and when masturbating, I had no intention of ejaculation. This actually happened, so does that mean I have to do qaza fasts AND kafarah, or only qaza fast or even none of the above? Thirdly, my other question is this. Because I used to masturbate before, I tried to keep in the ejaculation and most of the times it happened. I was also ignorant at the time, and I just searched my questions and based rulings and my sins and etc of a sunni basis. According to them, if no ejaculation happens, ghusl is not required and only wudhu would suffice, I'd like to know if it's the same for Shia islam too or would you have to do ghusl even when no ejaculation took place? I'll be looking forward to your answers, please please please, once again, try not to judge me, I'm already disappointed and embarrassed enough. Thanks.
  12. Hello, I used to masturbate before - I held in the semen and then did a wudhu and proceeded to read salah, for the times which ejaculation happened I did a ghusl - I'm unsure if I should read all my namaz as qadha again as I'm unsure if masturbation with no ejaculation invalidates salah that has been done with no ghusl before it - please guide!

I am thinking about pursuing a degree in law as it is my first year in college and have seen it is a career fit for me, however when I bring the topic up I am oftentimes bombarded with allegations that it is haram and is not permissible to undertake such a path. @Mahdavist @Hameedeh @Gaius I. 17. Salam, I am a very old visitor ShiaChat. This is my very first post here with this ID because of the type of Topic and because of needing help. I have been living overseas for a decade and now moved to Pakistan to make my religion stronger. One thing that is bothering me is the companionship of the opposite sex. I’d like to tell you I am a new convert to Shia from Sunni and my family disowned me and blocked me from family acitivities on that ground, but mashallah say by the grace of Allah, I have a high paying job and so it was easy to move on but feel lonely, left out and often wanders around. I need companionship, love as all of us. I don’t want to indulge in anything wrong such as prostitution or adultery or porn and after much through thinking and trying to be as close to the religion as possible I understand that a Mutah Nikkah or temporary marriage is my only solution. I am desperatly seeking your help and guidance. I am looking for advice on how to find such proposal. Society in Pakistan has become very hyper sexualize to the point that temporary nikkah is the best solution. I have thought about some ways, I thought about giving an ad in the local Newspaper here, but then do not know the legal repercussion that may come with it. I searched online and found only a few posts regarding this that gave me no help, I even approached marriage agencies in Lahore but it like most of them do not even cater to Shia let alone mutahnikkah. Please help and advice. I feel lonely, desperate and often times vulnerable. I do not want to go on the path of Shaitan and carry illicit activities (which has become all too common in Pakistan). Please let me know if you know A) Which local newspaper I should post this ad to B) Which marriage agency will work best for me C) Any family that is in need of such

I fear to do something haram not willing,or baddest to do magic to someone doing something normal but that maybe can means something bad...ans to hurt someone without willing! My mother do witchcraft and she done witchcrafts on me... Someone can give me an advice about this?
  21. Salam respected brothers and sisters, as a Shia Muslim who currently resides in the west there are certain restaurants that provide food that accommodates the regulations in permissibility to consumption. Such restaurants are of other cultures such as Hispanic, Asian, and the list goes on; is it permissible to eat at such restaurants if one consumes only food which is permissible to eat of course; taking into consideration that such restaurants sell alcoholic beverages to those whom desire to consume such intoxicants in bottled or canned form.
  22. Asalamualaykum, I have always (or at least in the past 5 years), refrained from music like rap, sensual songs, and just things with too much beat in them. For the past month or so, I have put haram music aside completely but ever since, I've been in this kind of paranoia and anxiety of what is haram and what is halal. I've read my marja's ruling on music over and over again this past month but I just don't seem to get it completely. My marja' is Seyed Sistani and if someone (familiar with fatwas and/or following Ayatullah Sistani) would please help clarify some questions for me I will really appreciate it and may Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) bless you inshaAllah. The following 2 links are what I am going based off of. One is all the basic rulings on music and the other contains more info from the Q&A. (please take note of what is noted as "compulsory/ obligatory precaution and what is noted as haram/forbidden) https://www.Sistani.org/english/book/46/2071/ https://www.Sistani.org/english/book/46/2072/ Meanwhile I've pretty much stopped listening to all music due to a post on shiachat with a whole long list of supposed hadiths from Imam Sadiq AS about music and they were so so strict and harsh that I've just been terrified of all types of music and I just feel very confused inside. It just doesn't make much sense that music is as great as a sin as murder, or any other of the greatest sins. I'd like to know whether these hadiths are even authentic? Is it just an exaggeration caused by translation errors? The hadiths are also found here: https://www.al-Islam.org/greater-sins-volume-1-ayatullah-Sayyid-abdul-husayn-dastghaib-shirazi/fifteenth-greater-sin-music I'm asking because some of these hadiths are not compatible with what Seyed Sistani is saying. The hadiths seem to say music, in totality, and anything close to it is completely haram and punishable, but Sistani seems to distinguish between haram and permissible music. and even says that haram music " does not mean that the music or the song’s tune amuses the heart or changes the mental state because there is nothing wrong in it. " I don't think I should doubt that my marja' has already read an is knowledgable of the hadiths of the Imams (pbu them). However, I'm still struggling with trying to understand what he means when saying " the music or the song that is suitable for entertainment and amusement gatherings". Does that mean dance party music? could someone please give examples of halal music or answer my questions below based on Seyed Sistani's rulings? To further clarify what the said phrase means: does "entertainment and amusement gatherings" mean two criteria? Number 1: entertainment and Number 2: amusement gatherings? or is "entertainment and amusement" used as a single description of that gathering? If someone knew the Farsi version maybe that would help because translations sometimes make it harder to understand. My more specfic questions are: 1. Is ney (reed flute) music halal? The ney I was told was halal before but I don't know now because of this: "The Messenger of Allãh ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم).) said, “And the person with the [sin of] singing (al-ghinã’) will be raised [on the day of resurrection] blind, deaf and dumb. The person with [the sin of] adultery, of wood-wind, and of drum will also be raised in the same way.” Is ney a woodwind instrument? It is rarely used in any type of " entertainment and amusement gatherings" but rather gatherings of religious poets and such. The ney has such a beautiful and simple sound that is just something I always listened to that made me remember and become presently conscious Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) and the purpose of our existence on Earth. Either way, In short, I just find it hard to think that it is haram. Is it? I feel like based of Sistani's description it is allowed but those hadiths supposedly from Imam Sadiq AS is what throws me off. 2. Is traditional (sonnati) persian music halal? (For example Shahram nazeri or shajarian?) Based on Seyed Sistani's description of what is and isn't ghina. Can you give me examples of other singing which would not be ghina? 3. I am a writer and I write fantasy and fiction. I have always enjoyed listening to what is called "epic music" while I write or even just for workout. Epic music is not commonly listened to by a large audience because it's basically the dramatic music used in movie backgrounds. Is that music considered as music used in " entertainment and amusement gatherings"? 4. Finally, would classical music be allowed? I know this post is quite lengthy but I believe it could help clarify things for many people inshaAllah. If I do not receive logical and descent answers here I will ask on Ayatullah Sistani's website and post the answer here inshaAllah in case it might be helpful for anyone else. May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) guide us towards the right path and make it easy for us to obey and satisfy Him. Ameen.
  23. Salam, I know many Muslim landlord (in the West). Their apartments are typically non-smoking and no pets, and they will ask you about your employment when you contact them (like every other non-Muslim lanlord). According to the Fair Housing Acts this is seemingly the maximum you can get away with before it falls under discrimination. That being said, people clearly violate these rules all the time (e.g. Chinese buildings). What confuses me is the following... Presumably these Muslim landlord are renting out their apartments to boyfriend/girlfriend couples... or else they wouldn't be able to survive in the rental market. One would assume that non-married couples are engaging in Zina. Regardless, it is free-mixing nonetheless. Furthermore, they likely rent out their apartments to gay couples, who are likely engaging in Sodomy, or lesbian intercourse. What does Islam say about this (from a Fiqh perspective)? Should Muslim landlord be able to discriminate in order to have NOT provided the tools necessary to perform immoral sex acts (I.e. housing)? OR Should Muslim landlord be forbidden from discriminating in regards to housing (since shelter is considered basic human right in the religion of Islam? Does it depend on how many listings are available in order for it to be considered reasonable or unreasonable (If many apartments are available, then you could argue that it's not really denying housing, but rather it's deferring housing? OR should Muslim landlord simply assume the best in their tenants, so that a self-proclaimed gay couple is really just two straight dudes hanging out? This question brings up more questions than it answers. Our traditions condemn living alone, as this is a huge gateway to commiting sin... so would it also be wrong to house any non-straight non-married couple? Another question to add on could be regarding transgenders and whether or not they are the sex that they say they are (when considering this question), and whether or not you should refer to them by their preferred pronouns, shake their hands (which sex are they really?) etc... Lastly, breaking the law is Haram in Islam. Discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender, marital status and/or relationship status is ILLEGAL in most western countries, such as Canada. But is it also Haram to break a law that you cannot easily prove as violated in order to follow God's law more closely? Anyways, for the sake of this question, we will assume that this discrimination is legal... despite it being absolutely illegal. TL;Dr...: My main question is the following: Is denying housing to straight non-married couples, and gay couples HARAM or HALAL?
  24. O alimento permitido dos 'ahlil kitab' é arroz feijão verduras e etc. Nao carne tipo frango boi vaca ovelha e etc.
  25. Assalamailakium brothers and sisters. I wanted to ask a question regarding a restaurant. There is a restaurant near my area that is owned by Arab Christians, but the meat, according to them, is Zabihah Halal. My marja is Ayatollah Sistani, and I know that according to him, one can eat the food of an Ahle Kitab, but my question is how about if the halal meat is handled by Ahle Kitab. The restaurant in question even has two halal signs, one in Arabic and one in english. Is it haram to eat their or not?
