Does Allah ((سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى)) truly have infinite mercy?

Salam Alaikum. I've got a couple of questions regarding a topic if Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) truly have inifinite mercy. 1. Is there any Qur'an quotes or hadiths that tells Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) forgives no matter how big/small and how many sins a person has committed. I'm having a kind of hard time seeing Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) willing to forgive someone that kills,steals,drinks and so on. Even if this person has decided to stop and begin to repent. 2. Will doing Hajj in Mekkah really result in Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) cleansing you from all sins you've done no matter how many and how big they are? Please do enlighten me on this topic, I would appreciate that. Also posting source would also be appreciated WS. -
The Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wassallam) said that the best generations are the first three from his time. Does that mean that we should shape our society the way they did (to some extent)? In what context do you think or know they were the best? Or (if you know of a different translation or another hadith regarding this, please feel free to post it)

Salam alaykum brothers and sister, Everyday we as Shia pray according to a general method of salat that is agreed upon by the majority of scholars. Albeit very minor differences concerning the details, the method of prayer appears to be well defined in the publications of the maraja and follows a specific fixed structure. My questions is concerning the sources used to understand the exact form of prayer. What are the ahadith of the Masomeen (pbut) that tell us which surah to recite, when to bow down, what to say in prostration etc. I have come across one famous hadith from Imam Jafar Sadiq (عليه السلام) transmitted by Hammad ibn Isa. I would be glad if anyone could provide me with further textual sources regarding this matter. Wassalam -
I have always been confused about what is a hadith qudsi. It is a word spoken directly from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) to Prophet Muhammad (sawas) ? If so, what makes it different from Musa (عليه السلام) who was talken to directly, as per his title Kalimullah ? Why are they not counted as Quranic verses and what makes them different ?

as salaam alakim!!!! I know that in Sunni hadiths it says if you break fast out of forgetfulness or accidently, you keep fasting and that doesn't count as a broken fast. What do Shia hadiths say? is it the same way?

What does Islam say about writing fiction stories such as novels or short stories? I am not talking about adult or horror stories, although i am fascinated by horror and I am currently writing a horror story but I might never share it with anyone if it crosses the line. I find the art of story writing to be an excellent accompaniment to my psychology studies. By exploring different characters and their states of mind it helps me to deal with issues in my own life too, especially childhood. I enjoy creating chemistry between different characters. Writing stories also helps me to relax and express myself which has been a major issue in my life. I also think it has the potential to promote positivity in society between people and address complicated issues. Is there anything that islam does not allow in writing or reading fiction stories?

Salam Alayakom dear brothers and sisters! I just want to know why we can't ONLY follow the Quran? Why do we follow hadeeths aswell? And how can we be so so sure about the hadeeths when it's written by man? I am having a discussion with a sunni who says that he only follows the Quran.

Salam, brothers and sisters! I had this question in my mind for a while and it would not let me sleep, so i decided to share it with you. Hopefully, someone can either answer it perfectly or at least point me in the right direction. I am aware of the methodology used to authenticate the hadeeths, i.e. through Ilm e rijal. My question is: What if the chain of narrators itself is forged? Meaning that is it possible that the chain of narrators are wrongfully put into a hadeeths isnad to make it seem valid for the people who will then study the chain and realize that the narrators are fine and the hadeeth is sahi, but they wont knoe that the chain itself is not right. Cannot seem to wrap my mind around it. Any Thoughts/Opinions/Facts Based Reasoning? Wassalam! May Allah bless you and the blessings of the Ahlulbayt(a.s) follow with it! Jazak Allah, khair!

I would like to study Islam, but I don't know how

I apologize for my frantic tone, I am extremely stressed out by this. Hello, good members of Shiachat. I have a question for you regarding how to study Islam, I simply have no idea how to approach the matter. With languages, I'd get a beginners book, then intermediate, then advanced; but Islam is the most and complicated subject in the world, there's 80 different beginners, all completely different, and I have no idea what the first step is. I was recommended two great sources of information, https://www.al-islam.org and http://www.shiavault.com. But I am paralyzed with the lack of structure and direction. I have no issue with reading every book featured, but I need to know what order to read the books in, and in what order to tackle the broad subjects. I don't want to flounder in one subject because I didn't study its prerequisite. It would be like starting Calculus before Algebra. And I also would like to understand another matter. Whenever I come here I am absolutely stunned by the rainman-esque level of knowledge, specifically when it comes to citation. A question is posed and somebody would rattle off citation after citation like a wizard. "You're wrong because of Hadiths X:x,X;d, X;a, X;r, X;d, X;s, X:q, X:t, X:23, X:33, X:32, X:34, X:65,X:12". Then the other guy says, "Well, if you'd check Hadith X, specifically 3:55, 6:33, 5:12, 6:98, 9:09, 2:34, you'll see blah blah blah....". "Hmmmmm well, yes, but, I must say that Hadith 3:55, which you've mentioned, is tha3eef because the 15th chain down from the primary source was known to be a habitual liar, and his goldfish and cat were kaffirs. How on earth do you do this? Knowing all these Hadiths, the history behind them ( and anything they'd throw at you), and then somehow keeping it all in your brain. Again, I apologize for my anxiety, but my ignorance is killing me and I am desperate. I eagerly await your advice, and thank you in advance. -
Salam brothers and Sisters, I had a question. I have seen in a couple lectures by Sayed Ammar that Omar use to torture the early Muslims and he has said it's in the books of history. He's brought this up while talking about Ammar Ibn Yassir's parents. I don't doubt this about Omar, but can anyone show me proof? Shukran

As salamu aleikoum, Although the Qur'an has absolutly no issue with a round earth rotating around the sun, I found several weird hadiths from Sunni sources (the narrator is Abu Dharr) which seem to claim that it is the sun which is rotating, rotating around a flat earth: It is also found in Sahîh Muslim (159,205). Its text, as related by Abû Dharr al-Ghifârî, is as follows: The hadîth is also found in Sahîh al-Bukhârî in a highly abridged form (4803, 7433). Its text reads: I checked the references and they are correct, although I did not find such an hadith in Sahih Muslim 205. According to some people, there is an hadith which says the earth is round: I did not find the reference though. Is this a fabricated hadith or does it really exist? You can find everywhere. But according to a website, it is fabricated (https://islamqa.info/en/145202). According to a shia hadith, the earth is round: There is no reference for the "logical East and West" hadith though. Does someone know the reference? Also, can someone check in Wasailush Shia, Vol.I to see if it's there (maybe here: https://books.rafed.net/view.php?type=c_fbook&b_id=280)? If possible, it would be better to find another book of hadith, since Wasailush Shia is a quite late compilation (17th century, after the heliocentrism theory was already famous I think)? What do you think about those hadiths? Are they authentic? If they are authentic, how should they be interpreted (I did not read the arabic)? Are they any other hadith talking about the shape of the earth and/or helio-/geocentrism? Jazak Allah khair.

I remember reading a thread with all the conditions about when to accept a muwathaq hadith from a non-imami. Unfortunately i cannot find it anymore. Can someone please post the link if they find it or if you know the conditions, please post them. -

Salam brothers. The hadith we bring up in sunni books- "ali, you are the wali of every believer after me" is a strong proof to use to show that 'wali' does not mean friend and it has to mean leader because of the usage if 'after me'. However, after looking at the debate on this hadith, i have found that there are 3 chains. 2 of them contain shiees so they reject them but one of them contains no shia, the narration of abu balji. Although, I have seen some try and weaken this hadith because they say abu balj made a mistake and instead of narrating to amr bin maymoon, he meant to say mayoom abu abdillah who is weak and would make the hadith weak. thoughts?

As salamu aleikoum, As a law student, I would like to know if there is any hadith (shia if possible) about acquiring secular knowledge. I know there are a lot of hadiths about acquiring knowledge but I wonder if these hadiths only speak about religious knowledge. I recall a mollah talking about one of our Imams (as) giving a long chemistry lesson to someone though. Also, I heard that one is not considered a true shia if there is anyone better/more successful in their village. Again, I don't know what exactly this hadith means. The mollah stressed that as a muslim/shia you should be the best at everything you do, although he didn't mention any narration about that (starting from 7:30).

Preamble The first book of the first volume is the book of Intellect and Knowledge. Some short words on the Islamic conception of both is in order. Aql is the vehicle through which the initial queries about the reality of life and nature of the world is made. It is also an essential component towards the Ma’rifa [recognition] of Allah. Thus it becomes the preliminary ‘inner prophet’ which can lead to ‘outward’ guidance and consequently obedience of Allah. It has been attributed to al-Sadiq that he said when asked to define Aql: ما عبد به الرحمن واكتسب به الجنان That by which the Rahman [Most Merciful] is worshipped and by which the Gardens are acquired[1] Aql is what will be held accountable. The more perfect the Aql of the one doing the deed the more complete it becomes and vice versa. The messenger of Allah is supposed to have said: إذا رأيتم الرجل كثير الصلاة كثير الصيام فلا تباهوا به حتى تنظروا كيف عقله؟ If you see a man who prays a lot and fasts a lot then do not be overly impressed with him until you observe how his Aql is[2] Knowledge and its pursuit has been given such importance in Islam that a Western Scholar like Rosenthal could speak of the ‘Empire of Reason’. Knowledge is of many types, but the one which has been obligated is acquiring the knowledge which will make one succeed in this world and hereafter i.e. knowledge of the creator and one’s obligations towards Him. It is not enough to gain knowledge in theoretical terms, in fact the very definition of knowledge is the one which is put into practise. This is best summed up in a narration attributed to the Commander of the Faithful: حسبك من العلم أن تخشى الله، وحسبك من الجهل أن تعجب بعلمك It is enough to be considered knowledge that you be in awe of Allah, and it is enough to be considered ignorance that you feel proud with that which you know[3] [1] al-Kafi: 1/11 [2] al-Kafi: 1/26 [3] Amali of al-Tusi: 1/62- 13 comments

Asalaam Alaikum- Question~ A Sister friend of mine had this sent to her from another sister, I told her I am not sure of its validity but it is deemed false in a couple of Sunni Fatwa sites. Can anyone think of a source or is this just bogus? e THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAYER... Read it and tell me if you think the punishment part is right, we all know that not offering our prayers (salat) is HARAM! But little do we know the punishments that we will face... The Prophet peace be upon him narrated. "Convey from me, even if its one verse (Ayah)" Maybe forwarding this message to others can be beneficial for your Intercession on the Day of Judgement. The punishments of the one who doesn't pray. The Prophet peace be upon him narrated: "Whoever shows heedlessness (negligence) in praying salat, Allah punishes them with fifteen kinds of punishments" Six punishments in this lifetime. Three punishments while dying. Three punishments in the grave. Three punishments on the day of Judgment. Six punishments in this lifetime: 1 - Allah takes away blessings from his age,(makes his life misfortunate) 2 - Allah wipes out the virtues of righteous people from his face. 3 - Allah does not accept his Dua's. 4- He will be detested by all creatures on Earth. 5 - Allah does not award him for his good deeds. 6 - He will not be included in the prayer & Dua's of the righteous. (good people) Three punishments while dying. 1- He dies humiliated. 2-He dies hungry. 3- He dies thirsty. Even if he drinks the water of all the seas, he will still be thirsty. Three punishments in the grave. 1- Allah tightens his grave until his chest, ribs come over each other. 2- Allah pours on him fire with embers (red colour, hot coal made of immensely heated firewood). 3- Allah sets on him a snake called "The Brave" "The Bold" which rolls all around his body & crushes him. Three punishments on the day of Judgment. 1- He will be dragged face down over hot burning coal to the hellfire. 2- Allah gives him an angry look that makes the flesh of his face fall down 3- Allah judges him strictly and orders him to be thrown in hell. Those who do not offer their prayers of: FAJR: The glow of their face is taken away. DHUHR: The blessing of their income is taken away (even if he has millions, he will be poor). ASR: There is no strength in their body. MAGHRIB: They are not benefitted by their children. ISHA: The peace of their sleep is taken away. a beautiful duaa for thanking Allah for every moment "Allah humma Ainni ala zikrika wa shukrika wa husni ibadatika"

It seems a trend for many Muslims to easily labeling as haram on almost anything such as music, sports, driving, riding bicycles, movies, TV, INTERNET including youtube, etc. thus unnecessarily harming health, work and educational opportunities for many, especially for women. Such trend would be a catalyst for attacks on Islamic system as a whole from inside and out if left ignored. In going over how things are ruled as haram(prohibited), let us start with Quran as a source. Ayat can be muHkam or mutashabih. The muHkam /clear verse which can be ‘aam / general, khaas / specific, (amr and nahy)/(imperative and prohibitive), or mushtarak / collective. مشترك Amr(imperative) can be Fard (obligatory by clear textual dalil evidence) wajib(necessary by probable evidence), manduub(recommended), or mubaah(permissible/indifferent). Nahy can be haram or makruh(disliked). So haram ruling is derived from nahy type of MuHkam verse which is absolutely clear by its own. Thus, Quranic source of haram, makruh, mubaah, manduub, wajib or fard ruling is from muHkam verses. Since some of us are subjected to such rulings with real consequences with accompanying execution power of rewards or punishments by rulers, we all must understand the mechanism of the rulings. If the source of such ruling is only from hadith with vague wording with outdated situation, such as allowed traveling distance for women; is it OK to apply the lower standard in deriving hukum than from Quran? Please help me here by correcting me in any part, offering your knowledge in this area of Islamic jurisprudence. Thank you in advance.
