Assalaamulayekum, For Poisoning of Imam Hassan(as) his wife is responsible under the Influence of Muawiyah. And for Imam Hussain (as), Yazid (la) is responsible for his Killing. If our sunni brother say Shia are only responsible, let them remind that our prophet has prophesied that his nation will slay his son (ie Imam Hussain(as)). It would simply mean that Shia are the only part of his Ummah and sunni doesn't come under his nation. If they include themselves also, it means then shia and sunni shares equal responsibility in killing of Imam Hussain(as), as prophet said his nation would kill him. Basically they are trapped. Nevertheless both person are condemned by our Aimmah (as) in our authentic hadeeth : : Ibn Mahboob from Abdullah bin Sanan who said that I heard Imam Abu Abdullah (عليه السلام) saying: There are there things of pride for momin, and (they are) beautification for him in this world and the world here after, Salat in last part of night; Disappointment which he gets at the hands of people; Wilayat of Imam from Aal-e-Mohammad. He said: and there are three amongst the worst of creation who hurt the best of creation, Abu Sufian, who fought Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله) and was his enemy; Muawiyah who fought Imam Ali (عليه السلام) and was his enemy; Yazid curse of Allah be on him, who fought Imam Hussein (عليه السلام) and was his enemy till he killed him. I remember when I used to post here there was so much spirit in the forum. It was a pleasure to come online and engage in dialogue and discussion with others. There were always activities going on central to the Islamic months.. For instance, in Ramadan there would be videos of selected speakers uploaded and daily contests.. It just seems so stale and dry, as if a tornado ran through it and sucked the life out.. Perhaps its the layout. I don't prefer this Facebook integrated format. It's sad to see this once powerful site go blank.

Salam Alaykoom. - Death has been my biggest fear in life, i'm scared of loosing a loved one someday like my parents, & i'm afraid of dying myself, but i always wish death upon myself first, before my parents. Thinking about death or hearing someone that have passed away, gives my life no meaning, i just keep thinking like what's the point of this, or the point of doing all those Dunya things ( Life things ) Dunya entertainments, when my time of death could be here at any time, i get thoughts in my head, that i should just sit & cry my whole life & just worship Allah nonstop until the time of my death, so i don't do any life entertainment things, because i find them useless, but yet, i cant stop my self from not having fun, like laughing, taking pictures, going out & having fun & that all will lead you to thinking like you're living here for ever. How can i help myself in this situation, either ways isn't good, if i chose to not do anything & just worship, or i don't know what's the proper word to use, but like cry, & pray, & ask for forgiveness from Allah non stop is not something someone can do their WHOLE life, or still chose to love life & do all those fun entertaining things, which will keep me away from Allah ( i feel like ), so i'm just stuck here, needing help. Or what if i die & end up in Hell fire, Jahanam. Because i'm not yet that one perfect Muslimah Allah loves, shaaytan, always makes me feel worthless, & makes me feel like i'm a bad Muslimah. Any Advice would be appreciated, i'm struggling so much.

Salam, I heard that at a time of severe illness of a sahabi (s.a.), Imam Ali (s.a.) visited him. He (Imam s.a) told him that he (Imam s.a.) will be there, three times, for every believer, 1. at time of death, 2. in grave and 3. in barzakh, so no need to worry about it, or afraid of it. (Please note that it doesn't mean that not to worry about their deeds, just mean that not to worry/afraid of change of environment and also to have biggest wish come true of meeting with Ameer ul Momineen s.a., and best to have him (s.a) as companion.) Can anyone please tell me the source of above story and its authentication, I will be grateful to you. Thank you.

Sallam, I was doing research and literally hundreds of answer. How did the Holy Prophet of Islam die? If he was poisoned, who did it, and is there sources or traditions which state this. (Shia traditions of course) If a natural death, what are the sources for that as well. May Allah bless you all for taking the time to educate the ones whom have question like myself. JAK.

That you're going to die very soon? (with these points) - you're not more than the age of 25 - you've family responsibilities although you're not married - you do religious stuff but god has not pardoned you and death is the punishment soon coming towards you Now What to do?

As salam alaikum, For some background: My mother is Hindu but more spiritual, doesnt believe in rituals etc., dad neutral about religions and a lot more spiritual, and brother is a downright atheist - I'm Muslim lol..and all of us live together so some of our discussions can be..well..interesting and disturbing.. Based on these discussions, I have a question: What is the purpose of creation and afterlife, as per Islam? I understand the purpose of our temporary earthly life is as a test to ensure jannah in the hereafter, through the worship of our creator....but then what? We enter jannah, live there...and then? Whats the point really? My dad asked me this...and I dodged the question coz I wasn't very sure on how to handle it....his view is that we don't know what happens after death, n there is no way to experience it, so how can you just believe something a book says? Mum believes in re-incarnation and the idea that the soul needs to be freed...but after its freed after several thousands of lifetimes, we don't know what will happen... My brother says: well we have no idea what happens once we die - so live this life fullest...following religion or rituals will not allow you to maximize your potential in terms of career and the rest coz it takes up too much time...in terms of creator and universe, he says "there's no way I would think that there is a creator who created this universe...its all physics and quantum mechanics" I ask him who created gravity, how did all of that exist? He says we are not qualified enough in the field of physics to know that...there may be 10 to 15 people in the world who can tell you what existed before the Big Bang and how it was created....but we are not at that level of education, but surely you cannot believe that a God created it...that would just make life so boring - imagine not being able to use your own critical analysis and science backed evidence of the existence of physics laws...and just coming to a conclusion of "oh one creator created all of this"...thats just plain silly and provides no intellectual stimulation in his opinion... They all see religion as being something just for people who haven't got a career or are not educated, to be happy and content with whatever little they have..in the false hope that there will be something better after death, so its ok if there's no money etc now...therefore they will not strive for the most, and will be more focused on religious things... All of them truly believe that religions are all man made to control and manipulate crowds who cannot think for themselves...but for critical thinkers like them (especially my super highly educated brother), it is a joke and very sad to think that you would need to live within certain limits set by someone (something) else....unless its the law of the state, noone else should have any authority over your being except yourself....he doesn't agree with a creator or soul or any of that...and immorality and morality to him is a social construct - the only things which all humans can agree are immoral are those that hurt others: murder, stealing, rape, and sometimes cheating but not always.....he can't understand why marriage is such a huge deal and premarital sex or LGBT is a problem...or the concept of chastity...according to him its all in the heads of people and society has formed it that way - in nature however, if we look at animals, there are many who are homosexual, and there is no such thing of premarital issues, or even issues with one night stands...so why do humans have to make such a big deal and complicate life so much? So based on the above viewpoints, there are many times I don't know how to answer them because I just can't deal with their perspectives...its inconceivable for me to ever think of the idea of not believing in a creator...I have pursued the quest for God since I was a kid...so I really need help answering some of these questions.. My belief is that life is temporary and it is there as a test for the hereafter....but what happens if we go to heaven, or hell for that matter...what is the purpose of getting gardens in which rivers flow? What happens after that? Yes our souls can get close to God, but then what? And ok God will punish those in hell, keep punishing them continuously, but then what? What's the point there? Why would a God do that anyway? What does He get by putting us in heaven or hell? These are the kind of questions I'm afraid to answer, but I really do need something to understand this..and I'm becoming curious of this as well..I'm sure there is a reason I don't know it yet, and I may even believe if Allah has said it is not for us to know, but that won't work with my family...so any help would be greatly appreciated in this matter... I know there are several different points - opinions on all would be great...but the most crucial is the purpose of creation, hereafter and the rest... JazakAllah...

Hi, hope all is well. I am a first time poster in this forum would like to thank everyone for this opportunity. Although this may seem a random topic to discuss on my first post, the recent news regarding the 'likely' hanging of the Sudanese ex Muslim convert has inevitably and unavoidably given rise to this jurisprudential issue. My question is in relation to apostasy (conversion from Islam to a different belief system) in Islam and the associated punishment. I would like to gain a more comprehensive and in depth understanding about this particular ruling and the reasoning behind it. I believe in religious freedom and feel that this ruling defies the essence of human rights and does great damage to those whom endeavor to seek the truth. I do however acknowledge that there is wide a variation of viewpoints within and between the Islamic sects. Nonetheless, even with the most moderate ruling (imprisonment) I have been struggling to fit this ruling within the realms of a logical and rationale framework. Kindest regards,

BEIRUT - Government forces backed by Hezbollah fighters took full control of the Syrian town of Yabroud on Sunday after driving out rebel fighters, state media said, helping President Bashar Assad to secure the land route linking the capital Damascus to the former commercial hub of Aleppo and the Mediterranean coast. The fall of Yabroud, the last rebel bastion near the Lebanese border, would also choke off a vital insurgent supply line from Lebanon and consolidate government control over a swathe of territory from Damascus to the central city of Homs. Salam everyone, I'm not sure how to pose the question but I guess what I'm wondering is if for example: Somebody I know killed a family member and I'm 100% certain that such person killed her/him... am I allowed to "make justice" with my own hands? e.g: killing them too? is it a sin in fiqh? Does Allah gives us the opportunity to make justice with our own hands? or are we supposed to just let it go because killing the person that killed ur mom, dad, sibling, child, etc would be haram? I mean I know we are able to battle and that self-defense killing is not a sin but...if we have the chance to make justice for something personal such as the example I gave, is it a sin?

So I grew up Sunni and my family is Sunni but never had a death in the family until this passed December. There was no recitation of surah Fatiha for him but there were other duas made for him and we read the Quran for him (tho on my own I did read surah Fatiha for him) and then about a week ago, my cousin's dad's sister passed away and we went to visit yesterday to give our condolences and my dad said we should read surah Fatiha for her and they did but my dad isn't Shia and the only time I had ever heard of a person reciting surah Fatiha for the dead was from Shias (the first time I heard of it was when I watched my fist Shia lecture and I had to ask why they were reciting surah Fatiha for the dead because I'd never seen people do that before) so I was just wondering if it's common for Sunnis to read surah Fatiha for those who have passed away?

Asalamu Aleikum, It is my very first post and i would like to ask a very critical question ( as we heard that only Imam can lead the funeral prayer of an imam so in the scenario of Imam Mahdi(as) being martyred | like our other 11 Imams| after appearance, who will lead his funeral prayer or will he live untill the day of judgement? Please if possible also provide references. Thanks

AsalaamOLaikum. First of all could you all please read surah Fatiha for my beloved Grandad who has passed away. My Grandad (Father's Father) whom I was very very very close too passed away five years ago, however all the memories live on and I still feel so close to him but all connection to him in reality has been cut off this makes me really upset and sometimes ill just sit there and cry. I do know that this does not help at all and dua is the best thing to do. I will just casually read Surah Fatihah and Surah Ikhlas whenever I do think of him. However, I feel this is not enough and want to increase my knowledge in this aspect. What can I do for the Dead - my Grandad? I really want him to go Jannah insha'Allah and for Allah to forgive all his sins (if any) How do I ask of this? And is reading Surah Ikhlas/Fatiha casually with him in mind helping him at all?? I truly love him to bits and wish he would come back alive, which is obviously impossible so I want to instead help him as much as I can. Please post your advice. :) Also could you increase my knowledge in can the Dead see us, hear us etc? Thank-you! Hope you are all well insha'Allah and enjoying Ramadhan as it comes to an end.

I noticed that there are not many threads for remembering the great sacrifice of Imam Ali (as) this year.....now i really can say SC people are fools to just let it slip this year.....Hayhaat, Hayhaat, what a pity, what a pity. Everyone should share how Imam Ali (as) 's martyrdom effects them.... And maybe share something you learned about him you did not know before..... Imam Ali (as) 's effects us all, in such a way that it cannot be described....it was shocking and also one of the worst things and pitiful things to happen to this Ummah....it amazes me in a way, it makes me think. It hits me, it annoys me, but it also teaches me and calms me that there will be no more Dhulm....at least we could say no more Dhulm until Imam Hasan (as)'s Shahada. Something new I heard from the Minbar this year is that the reason Imam Ali (as) spent the night at his daughter Umm Kulthoom (as) house was because she had no children, and nobody would remember and do Dhikr of her after her.....so he said whenever the Masa'ib of Imam Ali (as) are read, Umm Kulthoom will be remembered by hundreds of Shi'a....which will make up for no children for Dhikr. I also heard this the first time, that when Imam Ali (as) was being taken back to the home after the stroke, he said to Imam Hasan (as) to,put him on the floor and first clear people out of the way and tell them to go home so they do not hear Sayyeda Zaynab (as) crying. There is one more thing but the Shaykh did not say it completely, Inshallah I will ask him and post it.....I did not know this and it blew me away, so amazing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD4iBq_U088 ---- go to 13:40 I was watching this tribute to a man called, by his stage name, 'uncle frank' who died recently, aged 77. He was actually the real uncle of the presenter of the chatshow. Watch it and tell me how you feel. Anyway, after watching the video, i felt an overwhelming sense of grief and i couldn't hold my tears back. I'm not usual the one that gets too emotional, but this just got to me. It was a real wake up call and reality check. It jabbed my inner conscience. I literally had to go to the restroom and wash down my tears. I realized how short and petty this life is, how volatile it is and how abrupt a conclusion it is. I remembered my sins, at the same time thinking of how much i have to prepare for the hereafter. I remembered how the martyrs of Kerbala strove for the truth and how i must follow their example and strive to reach my true destiny, with the pleasure of Allah and Ahlul Bayt (as). I understand why ahlul bayt (as) always tell us to keep death in front of us, because it keeps us grounded and alert. I felt sorry for the showhost and shocked for uncle frank. He was a lively, funny, nice guy. I wonder how God will judge him. How will God judge me? I realized i have to make some rectifications in my life. Later on in life, we will all see our close relatives and family pass away but we have to deal with it and take lessons from it to reach felicity. I still feel emotional. I have a question regarding this verse of the Quran: 13:28] Who have believed and whose hearts have rest in the remembrance of Allah. Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest! Does rememberance of death constitute a form of rememberance of Allah? Thanks. Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD4iBq_U088 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD4iBq_U088 Sorry, i can't post the link on for some reason.. Go to Youtube and type in "Jimmy Kimmel's Tribute to Uncle Frank " --- go to 13:40

[LAWS]Are We Allowed To Sign 'do Not Resuscitate' Forms?
RayanJ posted a topic in Jurisprudence/Laws
Salams All, I've been wondering this for a while now, and was curious to see if anyone has any insight into the following matter. According to UK Law, a hospital patient (assuming they are of competent mind) is allowed to declare that if during surgery or under general anaesthesia they were to die (i.e. their heart stops beating), then they should not be revived. This is known as 'DNR' or 'Do Not Resuscitate'. This is not suicide - and the person is in hospital with the intention of getting well from whatever illness they may have. Therefore, does anyone have any insight into the permissibility of signing a DNR form? Thanks - just curious R -
I have noticed when people pass away, recitation of the Quran is carried out on people who are fairly popular. When someone who’s not as known in the community passes away, there is awareness, but prayers for those individuals is limited due to issues such as social circles to reputation. I find it quite sad that this happens, as we should be praying for everyone that passes away. Therefore I have come up with a solution to create a face book page called http://www.facebook.com/TheMissedOnes, The idea for this page is that when anyone passes away, the moderator can post or be given a post about a death in a family, community and friends . We can all pay our respects by Surah AL Fatiha, and recitation of the Quran or selected Supplications by choice or request. I hope you can ask your friends to join and their friends. Its a new page and I would like all the support I can get. Please dont take any offence Regards

(Note to moderators, i couldn't think of the *best* place to put this thread. If you see a better place, please do move it to there, i have no objection to such a thing.) I'll start this off with a little introduction, sorry to lengthen it but i feel it is important to the post. Please do read on, i'm sure you'll find it interesting. Lets begin. I was going for my evening run, as i usually do but tonight i heard something that wasn't usual. I heard a man screaming, a woman screaming and i saw the man throwing around things. My first instinct of course would of been to call the police but i was trying to figure out how serious the situation was, maybe just a minor dispute or misunderstanding. My second instinct would be to go over there and protect the poor woman or at least try diffuse the situation. I feel it is my moral duty to do such a thing and i will always stand up for others, no matter the cost. I would do this every time without fail, at least i believe i would stand up in a situation and not just cower away or ignore the wrong being done. I am not a Muslim but someone was hatefully arguing against religion and Islam, i stood up for Islam and did my best to open their eyes and protect people being targeted. I might not agree with Islam but i will protect, with every single inch of myself, your right to practice your beliefs and to be free from hate. I will stand up for all. Thankfully, the dispute between the man and woman looked minor (misunderstanding) and in any case, one of their neighbours just arrived in their car and they would inevitably sort it out. However, it got me thinking... What if i went over there to try break up this dispute and the man was armed. This isn't the nicest part of town and it isn't exactly unusual; one of my friends had a gun pulled on him, several people i know have been mugged around here; its not the safest place. So, i was imagining, say i went over there to protect this poor woman the best i could and the man was armed and he had stabbed me or something like that. It got me thinking, what happens to me if i die? Now, I'm agnostic but that doesn't mean i totally reject the afterlife either. I currently do not hold such a belief but my beliefs aren't the primary question of this topic, as you will soon see... I've tried to live my life the best i can according to the morals i think are best. Indeed, we probably share many similar morals, i assure you of that, without going into too many personal things that would make me uncomfortable. These things include romantic relationships to a degree, ethics, diet (vegetarian, obviously different but haven't had any pork ect in 10+ years) ect. I'm not trying to score points or anything or boast. I am a human being like you and im sure we have all done some things we wish we hadn't. I just wished to give a general idea of myself. You have my word that i am honest about all these things i say. It got me thinking, i share similar values to religious people and i am good people like they are(most anyway, not the hateful or intolerant). Also, they do good deeds partially or entirely out of love for God and because they know it is what God wills. They do it out of want for virtue and want for heaven. They try not to sin because they do not wish to displease God and they do not wish to end up in hell. Obviously, they are good people like I and wish to do good things for the same reason i do but they have additional motivation. I do my good deeds not out of want of reward or heaven but just because i believe it is the right thing to do and i wish to do them. Surely this is also virtuous, if not more virtuous (i think so anyway but i dont want to argue over this point much) because there is no motivating factor or reward. I like to study comparative religion and all the religions of the world. It has came to my attention that all three books/Abrahamic religions, regardless of how good of a person i am, seem to say i get a ticket to a place full of interesting volcano's, mustard ( i hate mustard) and fire. I am hellfire bound as they say. No matter how good my deeds are, if i don't do them with God in mind or to please God apparently i am bound for the hellfire. Obviously, i don't really enjoy being told all my good deeds are worthless in the grand scale of things and i don't like being told i am going to hell for being a good person or even going to hell for that matter. I dont really want to believe a loving God would still put me in such a place for being a good person but thats why i came here, to get everyones views. It got me thinking, imagine i died when that situation happened, where would i ultimately end up from the perspective of all the major religions. So, please do share your opinions. I know it isn't the most polite thing to tell me I'm going to hell and i won't exactly enjoy reading such a thing but a truth is a truth. If you believe it to be the truth please don't be afraid and tell me as such. I won't hold any personal thing against you of course. Perhaps, also, if you could please include a little explanation, to make it easier for me to digest. (I'm not sure if all Muslims hold one view to this issue or there are many different views by many different scholars and interpretations, same goes for all other religions but i'm happy to see a diversity of views and all view points.) (I also realise the fact you are not divine, you are a fallible human being like I and you are not Allah/god/brahman/ect... I realise you obviously can not know such a thing for certain and it is up to the supreme force to decide. I am not taking anyones words about the literal truth, so do not worry about misleading me. I just want to know what your religion and particular scholar you follow/ your beliefs say about where i will go and even what you personally think, which is also very important to me.) Edit: I put a poll in so those who were a bit cautious of telling me where i would end up or just out of politeness or respect did not wish to do such a thing could voice their opinion as well, the poll seems to of not worked. Apologies to those people but really, please do speak your mind, i won't hold anything against you, i promise. Regards, -kingpomba
