  1. Salaam Aleikum everyone, I have a question regarding incense sticks on a persons grave after they have passed. Is this something we should do? Is it recommended? Is there any Quranic References or Hadiths on this subject? My reason for asking is my father has recently passed. I arrived at the Graveside and found my brother at his grave and he had covered it in incense sticks apparently to send him sawaab because the Imams tell us to do so. I would appreciate any answers on this subject.
  2. I was wondering about the process of burying someone, like right from the moment a person's soul leaves their body, what happens next to said body? Is it just buried right then and there? Are there steps and procedures before the burial? How is the family informed? And how long after they are informed is the burial carried out? How long can a body stay before being buried? - I'd like to know the Islamic process and answers to this if possible. Thank you
  3. Was Maradona an anti-imperialist? I literslly lack any knowledge on this topic. But recently I have found a lot of Islamic and specifically shia channels honoring Maradona specifically. Not his game, but his humane part. Can someone share their knowledge regarding Maradona's political and social stances???
  4. Assalam-o-alaikum. I was curious if anyone here has listened to these audio episodes in Urdu? And what they thought? It's based on a true story of an Irani soldier who had died for 3 minutes then came back to life. The story Chronicles his experience of that 3 minutes when he had stepped into the Barzakh realm. This was really an eye opener for me and a must listen to for everyone specially for the youth. Probably something one should listen to as a constant reminder whenever drifting away from Iman. Very good audio book and I hope it soon will be available in english as well but for now its available in Urdu per the link below. 3 Minutes of Qiyamath It is a biographical discourse of a person who was declared dead for 3 minutes and the predicaments he had to face in the Barzaq in those 3 minutes. The audios were recorded Chapter wise with each clip approximately 15 minutes in duration. The link below consists of 3 chapters. http://www.shiaaudios.com/3 Min of Qiyamat.html
  5. Plzz I have aquestion...I wnt to know if the hadith of 12 hypocrite fit on Muawia and some others?? and how muawia died??? plzz answer me in the light of Sunni and Shia books?? I have searched this topic on internet but no resullts..help me...Allah bless u
  6. I recently heard that a person can be buried in the grave of someone who has already died. Such as a Grandparent or Parent even. The only requirement I heard was that 40 years have to pass before someone else can be buried in that grave to allow for the body to fully decompose. Also, permission has to be had from the eldest son of the prior deceased I believe. Has anyone ever heard of this? Is anyone aware of what the Jafari fiqh says about this? I’m really curious as to this. I really wouldn’t mind being buried with my Grandfather when my time comes as per the will of Allah (as morbid as that may sound).

  8. Imam Khamenei issued message of condolence on passing of Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi December 25, 2018 - 4:20 PM News Code : 922083 Source : Khamenei.irLink: The Supreme Leader of the Islamic revolution—Imam Khamenei— issued a message, expressing condolences for the passing of the great faqih, the chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council, Ayatollah Hashemi-Shahroudi. Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi-- passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018. AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The Supreme Leader of the Islamic revolution—Imam Khamenei— issued a message, expressing condolences for the passing of the great faqih, the chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council, Ayatollah Hashemi-Shahroudi. Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi-- passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018. The following is the full text of the message: In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful, "To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return" {Quran; 2:156} I received, with sorrow and grief, the news of the passing away of the great faqih, the chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council, Ayatollah Haj Sayyed Mahmoud Hashemi-Shahroudi (May God grant him paradise). This heartbreaking loss, after about a year of fighting with a hard and painful disease, distressed all those who understand his status in wisdom and knowledge, and his valuable services to the Islamic establishment and to the seminaries’ fiqh, principle, and law bodies. He was a great scholar in the seminary of Qom and a loyal official with the most important organizations of the Islamic Republic, an influential member of the Guardian Council, and a successful leader in the Expediency Discernment Council, and he left important scholarly works and blessings. Additionally, he was the brother of three martyrs, as well as a great friend, disciple and companion of the prominent and imminent martyr, Sayyed Mohammad Baqer Al-Sadr. On the passing of this prominent scholar, I would like to express condolences to his honored family, his respectable wife and children and his relatives, as well as the Qom Seminary and his pupils, colleagues and enthusiasts. I ask Allah the Exalted to bestow divine forgiveness and blessings on him and elevate his ranks [in the Heavens] to the highest. The prominent religious and political figure had suffered acute ill health for months and succumbed to renal and intestinal malfunctions at Khatam ol-Anbiya Hospital in Tehran on Monday. He was born in 1948 in the Iraqi city of Najaf, which has hosted many Muslim scholars. In Iraq, Ayatollah Shahroudi attended classes held by the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini. He fought against the dictatorial rule of Iraq’s Saddam Hussein and was jailed and tortured by his forces. He was also one of the founders of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq and was its chairman and spokesman for a while before late Seyed Baqer Hakim. Ayatollah Shahroudi traveled to Iran after the victory of the Islamic Revolution to serve as an intermediary between Imam Khomeini and Iraqi scholars and leaders. During his lifetime, Ayatollah Shahroudi served in many other crucial positions in the Islamic Republic. He took the helm of the Expediency Council in 2017 to succeed late Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. The Expediency Council is mainly responsible for arbitrating between the Iranian Parliament and the Guardian Council, which itself supervises the Parliament. Ayatollah Shahroudi also served as the head of Iran’s Judiciary for 10 years. His efforts to speed up due processes and establish close contact with the ordinary people were among the achievements the late cleric was credited for. Ayatollah Shahroudi also was a member and vice president of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, which elects and oversees the performance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He had been a member of the Guardian Council for years as well. Ayatollah Shahroudi published numerous books and articles in various fields, including Islamic Jurisprudence and law. As a religious scholar and teacher, he was well-known for his precise reasoning and robust approaches. http://en.abna24.com/news//chairman-of-irans-expediency-council-passes-away_922082.html Photos: Presence of people, scholars at office of Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi in Qom http://en.abna24.com/news//photos-presence-of-people-scholars-at-office-of-ayatollah-hashemi-shahroudi-in-qom_922095.html December 25, 2018 - 5:58 PM News Code : 922095 Source : ABNA24Link: AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The scholrs and the people came to Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi's office in Qom to condolences his demise. 9. Salam Alaykum What are the ideal "last words" a shi'i should recite before passing away? Just something I was thinking about. Should it be "la ilaha ilallah Muhammad rasul Allah"? Or "Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un"? (We belong to Allah and to Him we return) Or maybe "Asalamu 'alayka ya saheb az-zaman" (peace be upon you Imam Mahdi) What are your thoughts?
  10. Death and the Self Shaun Nichols , Nina Strohminger , Arun Rai , Jay Garfield First published: 22 January 2018 It is an old philosophical idea that if the future self is literally different from the current self, one should be less concerned with the death of the future self (Parfit, 1984). This paper examines the relation between attitudes about death and the self among Hindus, Westerners, and three Buddhist populations (Lay Tibetan, Lay Bhutanese, and monastic Tibetans). Compared with other groups, monastic Tibetans gave particularly strong denials of the continuity of self, across several measures. We predicted that the denial of self would be associated with a lower fear of death and greater generosity toward others. To our surprise, we found the opposite. Monastic Tibetan Buddhists showed significantly greater fear of death than any other group. The monastics were also less generous than any other group about the prospect of giving up a slightly longer life in order to extend the life of another. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/cogs.12590
  11. Is death something you fear of. Before I feared of death and getting killed in an accident. But when I deeply think about it,. I don't fear death at all. If I die then I die and I have taken it in. What are your views of death? And do you fear it. Do you do stuff sometimes to avoid stuff. Maybe for example not riding a roller coaster because you fear of falling of and dying or do you ride it and know with the possibility of dying. (I pick the second one) The only part of death I fear is if I die before my mum dies and knowing how much she will grief.
  12. How do you console your friend who lost their mother? true islamically we say may Allah grant you sabr. what are other means of making a person feel better ?
  13. Salam Alaikum, I was wondering if anyone knows of an equivalent hadith about death on certain days of the week in Shia of Ahlulbayt sources? Also is this hadith (and other similar ones) considered strong/ weak in chain of narration etc.? I would be most grateful for an answer / direction... This is the hadith : Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “there is no Muslim who dies on the day of Friday or the night of Friday, but Allaah will protect him from the trial (fitnah) of the grave.” Narrated by Ahmad, 6546; al-Tirmidhi, 1074 Thanks

  15. Assalam o alaikum. My grandfather, who I was extremely close to, passed away in 2014 while abroad. When I was a child, he'd always give me notebooks, calendars and pens that he received from work. Here's something that's been bugging me for four long years, and I know it sounds crazy, which is why I decided to ask. A few days after he passed away, I was in his study (I used to be the only one allowed to touch his things :')), going through his notebooks sentimentally. I took one of those notebooks - one that he'd made a few lists in on the first few pages - and started using it to write letters to him about how I felt and stuff. One day, I left it in the living room and went to sleep. I don't remember if this was the same day I started writing or a few days later, but the next morning when I opened the notebook to write in it again, there was a sticky note on the inside cover that said "for Mahnoor" (that's my name) in his handwriting. I'm positive it wasn't there before. And he wouldn't give me a notebook he had already used. So i was wondering, is it possible he actually put that note there after he died? I swear to Allah, I'm not making this up. Can the passed away interact with this world's objects like that? Or was I mistaken because I was so emotional at the time? Thank you for your time. I'm sorry this was such a long question.

  18. Assalamu alaikum I dreamed that a lady who was dressed in White took me to a man. Both the lady and the man were looking kinda sad. Then the man looked at me and said that i am from ahlul shuhadaa. That is it. I do want to point out that my uncle and his wife and their son Haidar (my cousin) Were in their car next to a terrorist attack (done by isis) and then my uncle and his wife died but Haidar survived. You have probably heard about the story of Haidar and everything that happend to him when he lost his parents. But Does anyone know what my dream means?

  20. This is an anonymous topic. The member who wants to see this discussion will not be replying here in the topic. Please make no questions toward the member. If you don't understand the topic, please do not reply. Thanks. Assalamu Alaykum. How do people cope with the loss of a family relative? How can they handle it, and what experiences did they have? Are they still affected after a long time? In Islam, is weeping over memories for the loss of someone allowed? Etc.
  21. So there is a question that has come to my mind. A womans husband recently died, about 2 months before his death he was a really good muslim. Before those 2 months he was not. Another case if where a girl died at a young age and she was an average muslim, but about 6 months later she died, and during those months she was so religious and barely did any sin. A young man in England was a bad boy. He was always at nightclubs. He would party and dance and drink. Then THREE WEEKS (yes three weeks) he became the humble and caring person and always offered salat on time. After that he died. Obviously, nobody know when they are going to die. So my question is, If you start being super religious all of a sudden does that mean you are going to die soon?
  22. Plato says the dead have seen the end of war, The silent ones are numerous like the stars For every time I sleep, a soul does not return For every time I awake, a family shall then mourn I wonder then, if do I and others give to our returns, thought Or do we, astaghfirillah, make it an afterthought?
  23. Asalam-alaikum brothers and sisters, My grandmother recently passed away and it has been quite hard on me and my family. However, I have seen her in my dreams multiple times. Does seeing her signify anything? Or the settings I see her in? Or even the colors she's wearing (white and green)? Please help me get some closure. Jazak'Allah khair Thank you -Abid
  24. Assalaamulayekum, For Poisoning of Imam Hassan(as) his wife is responsible under the Influence of Muawiyah. And for Imam Hussain (as), Yazid (la) is responsible for his Killing. If our sunni brother say Shia are only responsible, let them remind that our prophet has prophesied that his nation will slay his son (ie Imam Hussain(as)). It would simply mean that Shia are the only part of his Ummah and sunni doesn't come under his nation. If they include themselves also, it means then shia and sunni shares equal responsibility in killing of Imam Hussain(as), as prophet said his nation would kill him. Basically they are trapped. Nevertheless both person are condemned by our Aimmah (as) in our authentic hadeeth : : Ibn Mahboob from Abdullah bin Sanan who said that I heard Imam Abu Abdullah (عليه السلام) saying: There are there things of pride for momin, and (they are) beautification for him in this world and the world here after, Salat in last part of night; Disappointment which he gets at the hands of people; Wilayat of Imam from Aal-e-Mohammad. He said: and there are three amongst the worst of creation who hurt the best of creation, Abu Sufian, who fought Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله) and was his enemy; Muawiyah who fought Imam Ali (عليه السلام) and was his enemy; Yazid curse of Allah be on him, who fought Imam Hussein (عليه السلام) and was his enemy till he killed him. 25. I remember when I used to post here there was so much spirit in the forum. It was a pleasure to come online and engage in dialogue and discussion with others. There were always activities going on central to the Islamic months.. For instance, in Ramadan there would be videos of selected speakers uploaded and daily contests.. It just seems so stale and dry, as if a tornado ran through it and sucked the life out.. Perhaps its the layout. I don't prefer this Facebook integrated format. It's sad to see this once powerful site go blank.
