  1. Audhu billahi min ash-shaitanir rajeem. Bismillah, ar-Rahman, ar-Rahim AsSalaamu Alaykum, In my humble opinion, we should focus on lessons learned from the Tragic events related to Karbala. There is a wealth of knowledge and insight stored in every action taken/ sermons delivered by Our Master Abu Abdullah Al-Husayn[as], Sayyidah Zainab[sa], Imam Ali ibn Husayn[as], Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas[as] and the blessed companions. 1] What is your understanding of the Message of Karbala. 2] What lessons do you learn from events related to Karbala. [Includes events leading up to Ashura, on the day of Ashura and events after Ashura including the caravan of the oppressed, events in Kufa, Iraq and in Damascus, Syria and their return to Medina.] WS Layman.

However, I am still continuing with the Ziaarat Ashura and then performing the 2 Rakat Namaz ... Below is what I have been receiting ,is it correct? I want to make sure I am doing it correctly, I do not say anything 100x (as per the advise of my mom). However I am not sure if I am supposed to do it exactly. Please advice. 7. Salaam Alaykum, Does anyone know of a Hadith which I believe is from our 4th Imam (as) narrating what differentiated truth from falsehood in the event of Ashura in Karbala? It went something like this: "Both camps were Muslims in Karbala but what differentiated truth from falsehood was that one camp believed in Ali (as) un-Waliullah". Thanks in advance

  12. SALAAMUN ALAIKUM Alqamah bin Mohammed ibn Hazrami (r.a.) narrates ‘I requested Imam Baqir (a.s.) to teach me a dua that I should recite on the day of Aashoora after the reciting the Ziyaarat of Imam Husain (a.s.) – from near his (a.s.) grave or from a distance.’ Imam (a.s.) replied ‘O Alqamah, whenever you wish to recite the Ziyaarat of Imam Husain (a.s.), you first perform two units of prayers. Then turn towards the grave of Imam Husain (a.s.) and while pointing towards it, you first say ‘Salam’ and then ‘Takbir’. Thereafter, you recite this Ziyaarat (Ziyaarate Aashoora). If you do so, then as if you have recited the supplication read by the angels while visiting the grave of Imam Husain (a.s.). Moreover, when you recite this Ziyaarat, then, Allah will increase your grade ten lakh times You will be included among those people who were martyred along with Imam Husain (a.s.) On the day of Judgment, you will be included among the martyrs You will get the reward of all the Prophets (a.s.) who have visited the grave of Imam Husain (a.s.) from the day that he (a.s.) was martyred till date. And the way of reciting the Ziyaarat is like this…’ (Then Imam (a.s.) recited the entire Ziyaarate Aashoora for Alqamah (r.a.) (Ref: Kaamil al-Ziyaarat, Ibn Qoolwayh, Ch. 71, p.194) At the end of this tradition, Imam Baqir (a.s.) says ‘O Alqamah, if you can, then recite this Ziyaarat every day send salutations to Imam Husain (a.s.). You will get all the rewards (of the one who recites it on the day of Aashoora).’ CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE BLOG "THE ZIYARAT OF ASHURAH " FOR THE IMPORTANCE , MERITS , AUTHENCITY AND VARIOUS AUDIO AND VIDEO RECITATIONS OF ZIYARAT E ASHURA IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES
  13. Lamentations, breast-beating and mourning in memory of Husainâs martyrdom are not sanctioned by Islam. Though such martyrdoms are tragic, the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) has forbidden holding mourning ceremonies on the death of any person. People of Jaahiliyyah (ignorance) used to mourn over their deceased then the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) stopped the Muslims. Reply: Azaadaari (mourning) is a means to express sorrow for the hardships suffered by the Ahle Bait (a.s.) at the hands of the caliphs of their time. The words of Imam of Ahle Sunnah Allamah Fakhrudeen Raazi are notable: âIt is our firm belief that one who dies with love for the descendants of Muhammad (s) dies a martyr.â (Tafseer-e-Kabir, vol 7, pg 390) We read in Al-Bidaayah wa al-Nihaayah of Ibne Kasir in vol. 4, pg. 45, Beirut ed. It is narrated by Abu Hurariah that the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) used to visit the graves of martyrs every year. When he (s.a.w.a.) would reach the entrance of the mountain, he (s.a.w.a.) would say (to the martyrs): âAssalamoalaikum bi maa sabartumâ. This means âPeace be on you due to your patience and you have reached a pleasant place due to this.â Then after the Prophet (s.a.w.a.), Abu Bakr also used to come (every year), and after him Umar used to do the same and then Usman also did the same. We read in Al-Bidaayahwa al-Nihaayah vol. 6 pg. 360: Umar said âWhenever I venture out at sunrise, I remember the death of my brother Zaid b. Khattab.â Obviously the remembrance of his brotherâs death did not make him laugh; he was sorrowful (azaadaar). We find in Taarikh-e-Yaqoobi, vol. 1, pg. 3: The father and mother of humanity (Hazrat Adam (a.s.) and his wife Hazrat Hawwa (a.s.)) wept for their son Haabeel for so long that their tears turned into a stream. In Rauzah al-Shuhadaa, pg 30 the same incident has been quoted by Mulla Husain Waaiz Kashifi who adds: Tears from Adamâs (a.s.) right eye were flowing like the River Dajla and like the River Euphrates from his left eye. Perhaps the following tradition may prove more convincing: After the burial of the Prophet (s.a.w.a.), the companions in a state of sorrow were virtually throwing dust over themselves, and were crying due to the separation from their beloved. Especially Hazrat Faatemah (s.a.) was inconsolable; she was looking at the faces of her sons Imam Hasan (a.s.) and Imam Husain (a.s.) and was crying at their plight and her own plight. Even Aaesha was continuously crying and wailing. For several days and nights the voices of crying and mourning rose from this house which became house of grief (Baytul Huzn) and separation. (Madaarij al-Nubuwwah, vol 2, pg. 753-754) Mulla Ali Qaari in his book Al-Mirqaat fi Sharh al-Mishkaat from a narration by Imam Ahmed b. Hanbal quotes Imam Husain (a.s.): âWhoever weeps and cries upon me remembering my pain and miseries, Allah shall grant him Paradise.â (Al-Mirqaat fi Sharh al-Mishkaatwith reference to Taarikh-e-Ahmedi, pg 277, printed in Kanpur) One can refer to the Holy Quran via this hadis in Ahle Sunnahâs authoritative work Tafseer-e-Durr al-Manthoor, vol. 4 pg 31: The Prophet (s.a.w.a.) was asked: What was the extent of Hazrat Yaqoobâs (a.s.) mourning for his son? He (s.a.w.a.) replied, âIt was on par with mourning of 70 men and women.â And what was the reward for this? He (s.a.w.a.) retorted, âIt is on par with one hundred martyrs.â And we read in Tafseer Khazaan vol.3 pg 253: Yusuf (a.s.) said to Hazrat Jibrail (a.s.): Is my father adhering to mourning? Hazrat Jibrail (a.s.) said: The mourning of Yaqoob (a.s.) is on par with 70 men and women mourning. He then asked, âWhat is the reward for this mourning?â He said: The reward for this mourning is on par with mourning of 100 martyrs. Doubt: The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) stopped the Muslims from doing all this and directed them to observe patience by saying âInnaalillaahi wa innaa ilayhiraajiâoonâ. A number of authentic traditions are available on the subject. To quote one of them: He is not from our group who slaps his cheeks, tears his clothes and cries in the manner of the people of Jaahiliyyah. (Saheeh Bukhari). Reply: Please refer to the Holy Quran, which permits crying: âAnd he turned away from them, and said: O my sorrow for Yusuf! And his eyes became white on account of the grief, and he was a repressor (of anger).â (Surah Yusuf (12): 84) If you refer to the exegesis of this verse, it will be clear how much Prophet Yaqoob (a.s.) cried for his son ultimately forfeiting his eyesight in the process. In Surah Nahl (16): 53, Allah declares: âAnd whatever favor is (bestowed) on you it is from Allah; then when evil afflicts you, to Him do you cry for aid.â When Umar heard of Numan b. Muqrinâs death he beat his head and screamed, âO what a pity that Nuâman died.â (Kanz al-Ummal, vol.8, pg. 117, Kitaab al-Maut) As narrated by Tabari in his Taarikh vol. 9 pg. 183 (English translation by Ismail Poonawala): Abbas narrates: I heard Aaesha say: The Messenger of Allah died on my bosom during my turn, I did not wrong anyone in regard to him. It was because of my ignorance and youthfulness that the Messenger of Allah died while he was in my lap. Then I laid his head on a pillow and got up beating my chest and slapping my face along with the women. (Ibn Katheer in al Bidaayah wa al-Nihaayah vol 5, pg 420) Also refer to Ibn Katheer in al Bidayah wan Nihayah: The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) died while he was in my lap. Then I laid his head on a pillow and got up beating my face along with other women. According to Saheeh-e-Bukhaari: Anas b. Malik narrated: We went with Allahâs Apostle (s.a.w.a.) to the blacksmith Abu Saif, and he was the husband of the wet-nurse of Ibrahim (the son of the Prophet (s.a.w.a.)). Allahâs Apostle took Ibrahim, kissed him and smelled him. Later, we entered Abu Saifâs house at that time, Ibrahim was breathing his last and the eyes of Allahâs Apostle (s.a.w.a.) started shedding tears. Abdul Rahman b. Auf said, âO Allahâs Apostle! Even you are weeping!â He said, âO Ibn Auf, this is mercy.â Then, he wept more and said, âThe eyes are shedding tears and the heart is grieved, and we will not say except what pleases our Lord, O Ibrahim! Indeed we are grieved by your separation.â Saheeh-e-Bukhaari, vol 2, book 23, tradition 390 We read in the traditions about the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.): âThe Prophet of Allah (s.a.w.a.) was in a state where he was beating his chest.â References: 1.  Saheeh-e-Bukhari vol. 2 pg 50 2.  Sunan-e-Nesaai vol. 3 pg 305 3.  Adhaan al Mufreed pg 426 4.  Saheeh-e-Muslim vol 1 pg 291 5.  Musnad-e-Abi Awaana vol. 2 pg 292 âThere is nothing against Islam in expressing grief, sorrow or in crying and weeping at the loss of a loved one.â Fayz al Bari fi Sharh-e-Saheeh Bukhari, vol 12, pg 462, Egypt ed. We read in Ahle Sunnahâs authority work Maarij al-Nubuwwah chap 1 pg 248: Hazrat Adam (a.s.) was so distressed that he smashed his hands onto his knees and the skin from his hands caused gashes from which bone could be seen. We read in Al-Bidaayah wa al-Nihaayah vol. 5, pg 243: âWhen Prophet (s.a.w.a.) died on the bed, the women who were around him (s.a.w.) had made their faces red by beating their faces.â Doubt: Even Husain (a.s.), shortly before his demise, had advised his beloved sister Zainab (a.s.), not to mourn over his death in this manner. He said, âMy dear sister! I swear upon you that in case I die you shall not tear your clothes, nor scratch your faceâ¦â Reply: It is obvious from the numerous incidents of Zainabâs (s.a.) weeping in the presence of Imam Husain (a.s.) before his martyrdom that these statements are false and misleading. When the forces of Yazid planned to attack the camp of Imam Husain (a.s.), Hazrat Zainab (s.a.) came to Imam Husain (a.s.) and asked why was there so much noise outside their tents, Imam replied that I just saw Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) in a dream and he (s.a.w.a.) said that I will be meeting him (s.a.w.a.) tomorrow, hearing this Hazrat Zainab (s.a.) started crying and beating herself on the face. Al-Bidaayahwa al-Nihaayah, vol 8, pg 176, Beirut ed. In the same book it is mentioned: Hazrat Zainab (s.a.) heard the elegies from Imam (a.s.). Reflecting on the tragedy of Karbala and the martyrdom of Imam Husain (a.s.) she cried, lamented and beat herself on the head until she fainted. Al-Bidaayahwa al-Nihaayah, vol 8, pg 177, Beirut ed. Similarly, we read in Sunan-e- Ibn Maajah, vol. 2, pg 285, published 1313 AH in Egypt. Saad b. Abi Waqqaas reported from Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) that he said ââ¦shed tears and cry and if you canât cry then make a crying face.â The death of Imam Husain (a.s.) is an event on which not only humans, but even the jinn, angels, animals, birds, the sky and trees, have lamented. Thus, it is written that the sky wept for forty days on (the martyrdom of) Imam Husain (a.s.). Yanabi al-Mawwaddah by Allamah Shaikh Sulaiman Hanafi Qundoozi, Constantinople ed. pg 392 Hafiz Abu Noaim writes in Hilyah al-Awliyaa on the authority on Imam Shaâbee, Zuhri, and Abu Qataadah: When Imam Husain (a.s.) was martyred, the sun was eclipsed (so long) so that the stars appeared. Waqiyaat-e-Karbala pg 75 Shah Abdul Aziz Dehalvi has narrated the lamenting and wailing of the jinn on pg. 96 of his book titled Sirr al-Shahaadatain. He has also quoted the verses of the elegy recited by the jinn while weeping over Imam Husain (a.s.). Umme Salmah (r.a.) has also narrated: I heard the jinn mourning for Husain. 1.     Tarikh al-Kabir by al-Bukhari (the author of Saheeh), vol 4, part 1, pg 26 2.     Fazaaâil al-Sahaabah, by Ahmed b. Hanbal, vol 2, pg 776, tradition 1,373 3.     Tabarani, vol 3, pg 130-131 4.     Tahzib vol. 7 Suyuti states: When Imam Husain was martyred, the corners of the sky remained red for a four month period. (Tafseer-e-Durr al-Manthoor vol. 6, pg. 31) We find in the traditions that even the first and the second caliphs didnât find lamenting loudly un-Islamic or against the Sunnah. Refer to Kashf al-Ghummah pg. 175: Abu Bakr and Umar would cry in such a way that the neighbors could hear them. Again in the same book we read: When Saad Ibn Maaz died, the Prophet (s.a.w.a.), Abu Bakr and Umar cried. Ayesha narrates âI recognized the cries of Abu Bakr and Umar although I was in my houseâ. (Kashf al-Ghummah, pg. 174) Aaesha called people to read elegies on her fatherâs death and she herself lamented. (Tarikh Kaamil, vol 2, pg 288; Iqd al-Fareed, vol 3, pg 65) On the day that Abu Bakr died, the situation seemed as if Madinah would be flooded with tears. (Tarikh al-Khamees, vol 2, pg 330) There are numerous other traditions which prove the permissibility of Azaadaari in the light of the Holy Quran and the teachings of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) and his revered companions. However, some Muslims choose to ignore them and raise the bogey of azaadaari being a form of innovation and deviation. Conclusion Itâs an undeniable fact that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) has given all Muslims the bounty of Islam for which we collectively cannot repay him. However, the only way we could try to do that is to follow the Holy Quran which states: Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my near relatives.. Surah Shura (42): 23 The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) has also stated, âHusain (a.s.) is from me and I am from Husain (a.s). The Quranic verse and prophetic tradition are more than enough for any Muslim worth his salt to acknowledge the excellence of Ahle Bait (a.s.). The least one can do is remember and love the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and his family (a.s.) rather than remaining partial to those who were responsible ever since the advent of Islam for hurting the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) like Abu Sufyan, his son Muawiyah and his grandson Yazid. Shah Abdul Aziz Muhaddis-e-Dehlavi while explaining the philosophy of martyrdom writes in the preface of his book âSirr al-Shahaadatainâ: âThe martyrdom of Imam Husain (a.s.) is in reality the martyrdom of his grandfather Muhammad Mustafa (s.a.w.a).â Last few traditions from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) It has been mentioned in reliable traditions that often Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) mourned for Imam Husain (a.s.), which was obviously before his martyrdom. The well-known scholar of 10th century A. H. Allauddin Muttaqi Hindi in his book âKanz al-Ummaalâ has quoted Ibn Abi Shaibah, who has related from Umme Salmah, the wife of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.), that â” Once Imam Husain (a.s.) came to Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) when I was sitting near the door. I saw that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) had something in his palm, which affected him, making him weep profusely. By now Imam Husain (a.s.) had fallen asleep in his lap. I asked about the matter. He replied: âJibrail has brought the earth of the place where Husain (a.s.) will be martyred and informed me that people of my Ummah will slay him.â Kanz-ul-Ummaal vol. 2 One day, Umm Fazl, wife of Abbas â” the Prophetâs (s.a.w.a.) uncle â” approached the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and informed him (s.a.w.a.), âO Prophet of Allah! I had a nightmare. I dreamt as if a piece of your flesh was flung in my arms.â The Prophet (s.a.w.a.) informed, âThe dream is true. Faatemah will give birth to a son and he will be brought to you.â As predicted on Husainâs (a.s.) birth, he was brought in my lap. One day, I brought the infant to the Prophet (s.a.w.a.). For some time, the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) took his eyes away from the infant. When he (s.a.w.a.) glanced at the infant again, his eyes welled up with tears. I said, âMay my father and mother be sacrificed on you O Prophet of Allah, why are you crying?â He (s.a.w.a.) informed, âI have just been informed by Jibrael that my nation will kill him.â I asked, âWill it be this son?â He replied in the affirmative. Jibraeel also brought reddish sand for me.â Al-Mustadrak alaa al-Saheehain by Haakim Neishapouri, vol 3, pg 176
  14. In the name of Allah the Most Beneficient the Most Merciful Salam Alykum Brothers and Sisters, I have created a presentation on Imam Hussein (a.s.) and Tragedy of Karbala that I would like to share with you. You can view it at, http://karbala-tragedy.blogspot.com Note: It is created using Adobe Flash, so unfortunately its not currently viewable on IPhone, IPad or other tablets/smart-phones that do not support Adobe Flash. I am planning to convert it to a Mobile App so it can be downloaded via App Store in the future. The concept behind the presentation is to serve as an educational tool to highlight important events from Birth of Imam Hussein (a.s.) leading upto his Journey and Martyrdom in Karbala, and why Sacrifice of Imam Hussein (a.s.) at Karbala became necessary for revival of Islam. The Presentation is divided into following sections. Background and Pretext Part 1 (626 CE - 632 CE) Birth of Imam Hussein - Last Sermon of Holy Prophet Part 2 (632 CE - 656 CE) Death of Holy Prophet - Murder of Caliph Uthman Part 3 (656 CE - 669 CE) Imam Ali as 4th Caliph - Martyrdom of Imam Hasan Imam Hussein's historic journey from Medina to Karbala Part 1 (680 CE) Medina - Makkah 27 Shaban, 60 AH - 8 Dhul-Hijjah, 60 AH Part 2 (680 CE) Makkah - Zuhasm 8 Dhul-Hijjah, 60 AH - 29 Dhul-Hijjah, 60 AH Part 3 (680 CE) Zuhasm - Karbala 29 Dhul-Hijjah, 60 AH - 10 Muharram, 61 AH Please feel free to leave comments and share the link with others. 15. (bismillah) (salam) Recently, I had been playing with Twitter data, specifically for the purpose of mapping tweeters that tweet Shi'ite messages during the first 10 days of Muharram. My hope was that we will extract a large data set, comprising Shi'ites tweeting about Ashura, Karbala, or Syed al Shuhada (as). My aim was to plot large Shi'ite communities across the world, from Pakistan to Japan, UAE to South Africa, and from the UK to Western American states. However, after extracting our data, I realised that out of the complete data set, only some tweeters had enabled their Location-tracking service - this meant that a large number of tweeters could not be mapped. Nonetheless... A blog post about the graphic may be read here, and an R script for generating the graph here. This graphic was inspired by the amazing night time world photograph, taken by NASA, and James Cheshire's work. (wasalam)
  16. In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful This topic, the 'Burning Galaxy' was sparked mainly to post and reply poems and make necessary corrections before performed in public. The theme is mainly of the Islamic Events coming from time to time, but I am expecting more on Muharram on Saffar. Insha Allah, the following would be the first poem to begin this journey! Ashurah It’s the 10th day of Muharram We have struggled to come so far It’s the day of Ahl-ul-Bait’s Exam We have come to mourn the star The moon of Hashim was beaten The land of Karbala was ashamed The son of Hussain was eaten The day of Ashura was inflamed Hussain was leaving his tent Farewelling his family the last time After Abbas, his back is bent He pleads to the enemies to come and repent Hussain left to the battle field Providing Islam the perfect yield Fulfilling the promise of the beloved appealed So that Islam can remain in the shield He swung his sword known as Zulfikar Leaving enemies with a permanent scar He does not care of dirham nor dinar He cares only of Islam since he has come so far He got beaten, butchered and wounded The enemies have now surrounded Now he is completely shredded He knows he is going to be beheaded As the anger of the enemies rose They anguished the Prophet’s soul The tents of Imam Hussain did they disclose The blood of the neck of Imam Hussain did they expose The Prophet made 72 glories in his prostration Imam Hussain gave 72 martyrs in his reaction The Prophet raise his head when he finish the declaration Imam Hussain laid his head until the enemy’s celebration They ambushed the family of the Prophet Thinking that that’s the final and worldly asset They forgot of the repayment of this great debt But they continue to threat and threat The enemies of Islam have not been punished yet There will be a time when there eyes will be wet Their faces will bow down and cry in regret For the dreadful act that anyone can never forget Yet we wait for the Imam of our time with Anxiety We continue to mourn for the successor of our deity He will bring peace to the society And eradicate the falsehood and reveal the truthful piety -- Syed Ameed
  17. Why had Imam Husayn (a.s) presented this sacrifice? Is it for gaining power or is it a kind of mischief? Why he didn’t act like his brother?Let us see what Husayn (a.s) himself says about his movement. At the time when he was departing from Medina, he wrote a bequest to his brother, Muhammad Hanafiyyah. Some of the sentences of this testament were as follows: “…I am not taking up arms in order to make merry, or be ecstatic over what I possess. I am not making mischief, nor exercising oppression. But I am ready to fight for the sole goal of seeking reform of the Ummah of my grandfather, the Apostle of Allah (s.a.w). I want to enjoin good and forbid evil and guide the affairs of the people as my grandfather and father were doing.”
  18. What is the role of people in the Imam Husain's uprising? While Imam Husain (s.a) understood that people of Kufa changed their Allegiance, he didn’t change his objection and continued his uprising?
  19. Bani Umayyah (Umayad) forced people to celebrate the day of Ashura (10th of Muharram) as a blessed day, and encouraged people to buy and store their annual food on that day and to fast that day as Sunnah, by fabricating traditions in this regard which were solely designed to overshadow and to cover up the great catastrophe of the slaughtering the household of Prophet (PBUH&HF). To make people believe that Ashura is a blessed day, day fabricated that it was in that day when Allah saved Bani Israel from Pharaoh. this is while Moses (as) and his companions were saved and passed the Nile river in the month of Rabiul-Awwal. They also invented that the repentance of Adam was accepted on that day, while it was accepted in the month of Zil-Hajjah. They say that it was the day that Jonah (Yunos) was saved from the body of fish and the ark of Noah was settled on earth while it was on the 18th of Zil-Hajjah. All those traditions were fabricated By Bani Umayyah to cover their crimes. But scientific research caught their different lies. Shukar al-Hamdolillah. Let us first read this fabricated tradition: First Version: Sahih Bukhari, Book 60, Volume 6, Hadith 202: Narrated Ibn Abbas: When the Prophet arrived at Medina, the Jews were observing the fast on 'Ashura' (10th of Muharram) and they said, "This is the day when Moses became victorious over Pharaoh," On that, the Prophet said to his companions, "You (Muslims) have more right to celebrate Moses' victory than they have, so observe the fast on this day." Second Version: Bukhari, Book 60, Volume 6, Hadith 31: Narrated Aisha: During the Pre-lslamic Period of ignorance the Quraish used to observe fasting on the day of 'Ashura', and the Prophet himself used to observe fasting on it (ashura) too. But when he came to Medina, he fasted on that day and ordered the Muslims to fast on it. When (the order of compulsory fasting in ) Ramadan was revealed, fasting in Ramadan became an obligation, and fasting on 'Ashura' was given up, and whoever wished to fast (on it) did so, and whoever did not wish to fast on it, did not fast. Post Mortem of this Fabricated TraditionIt is very difficult to tell a perfect lie. There are always “Contradictions” when you tell a lie. Same happened in this case where one paid fool of Bani Umayyah fabricated that Prophet (saw) started it due to Bani Israel, while other fool linked it to the Period of ignorance. We all know why we celebrate Eid-ul-Adha (day of sacrifice of Hadhrat Ismael), why we celebrate Ramadhan (Quran tells (Verse 2:185) that the month of Ramazan is that in which the Quran was revealed). But why then ‘Aisha was so much ignorant about the incident of Bani Israel & Moses? The tradition claims that Prophet & Sahaba were constantly observing the fast of ‘Ashura during full 10 years of Prophet’s life in Madina, so there is absolutely no logical reason as to why ‘Aisha was ignorant of this. Moreover, why was Prophet following the Custom of days of Ignorance? There was NO Islamic Calendar during Prophet (saw) era. But there was Arabic Calendar. It was the Era of Umar Ibn Khattab, where proposal came about Islamic Calendar. Ali Ibn Abi Talib recommended to start Islamic Calendar with the 1st of Muharram of the year when Prophet (saw) migrated to Madina. But on 1st of Muharram of Islamic Calendar, Prophet Muhammad (saw) was still in Mecca. All agree that Prophet (saw) migrated to Madina long after it in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal. (After Muharram comes the month of “Saffar” and then the month of “Rabi-ul-Awwal”). (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 245: …. (when Prophet reached Madina) So all the Muslims rushed to their arms and received Allah's Apostle on the summit of Harra. The Prophet turned with them to the right and alighted at the quarters of Bani 'Amr bin 'Auf, and this was on Monday in the month of Rabi-ul-Awal.) Therefore, it was impossible that Prophet (saw) had seen Jews fasting on Ashura at his arrival to Madina. This proves this story to be totally fabricated one. Moreover, the modern scientific study of Jewish Scriptures also reveals that people who fabricated this tradition were telling a blatant lie. Do the Jews fast on the day when Bani Israel were saved by Allah? No, it is a blatant lie. Jews don’t have absolutely any Fasting day for this event. Here is the List of days when Jews Fast. http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Holidays/Fast_Days/fast_days.html The next lame excuse by Modern Apologists of this fabricated tradition is to claim that it refers to jewish “Yom Kippur” which happened on 10th of Tishri month of Jews. Once again, this claim is without any proof and totally wrong. First contradiction is this that the 10th of Tishri has nothing to do with saving of Bani Israel from Pharoah, but it is the day the children of Israel paid atonement for worshipping the calf when Prophet Moses and some companions went to Mount Sinai. As a result of this incident, the Jews fast on the 10t of Tishri. Secondly, scientific research shows that 10th Tishri was months away from 10th Muharram of 1st Islamic Hijri year. Here are two Scientific Tools for you to calculate it yourself. Gregorian-Hijri Dates Converter (Online Link) Hebrew Date Converter (Online Link) * 10th Muharram of 1st Islamic Hijri year is equivalent to 25 July 622 C.E. (+ One day Error) [link] * 10th of Tishri, 4383 of Jewish Calendar is equivalent to 23 September 622 C.E. (+10 days error) [link] As you can see both of them months away with each other and there is no chance that they correspond to each other in that year. The Apologists of this fabricated Tradition further make a lame excuse that perhaps Prophet (saw) didn’t see Jews in the first year of his arrival, but in later coming years. But this excuse is also contradicting the facts. Fact is this that Fast of Ramadhan became obligatory in 2nd year after migration (See Tafsir of Verse 2:185 where all Muffasirrin of Quran agree upon it that this verse about Ramadhan fasting was revealed in year 2 A.H.). But the only time the 10th of Tishri corresponded to the 10th of Muharram was in the 29th year after Hijra (i.e. not even in life Time of Prophet Muhammad (saw)). Another problem with 10th Tishri assumption is this that the month in which God delivered the Israelites from Pharaoh was month of Abib (i.e. modern Nissan), as the Bible clearly says: "Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the Lord thy God: for in the month of Abib the Lord thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night." (Deut., 16:1). And it is also impossible that month of Abib corresponded with Month of Muharram of 1st or 2nd Year of Islamic Hijri Calendar. * 10th Muharram of 1st Islamic Hijri year is equivalent to 25 July 622 C.E. (1 day error) [link] * 10th of Abib, 4382 of Jewish Calendar is equivalent to 30 March 622 C.E. (10 days error) [link] You can see that there is the difference of months between them and in whole remaining life of Prophet (saw) in Madina, they never corresponded with each other. Note: Moreover, 10th of Abib (Nissan) is not even the day when Bani Israel departed from Egypt. Rather, the savior of the children of Israel occurred on the 15th of Nissan in the Jewish calendar and the 15th of Nissan in the 1st year of Hijra corresponded to the 23rd of Ramadan. Lame Excuse: The Jewish Calendar could have been “distorted” (Tehrif) after the death of Prophet Muhammad (saw) and thus Jewish Calendar is not reliable. Answer: No doubt that there were distortions in the “normal” Jewish scriptures. But as far as specifically the “Jewish Calendar” & the “Custom of Fasting” is concerned, then NO distortion has taken place in them after the advent of Islam, but both the Jewish Calendar & the Custom of Fasting stayed the same since advent of Islam. Actually they stayed same “centuries” before Islam. Here one Link about Jewish Calendar and another Link about short history of “Custom of Fasting”, while as far as Jewish Calendar is concerned, then there is absolutely no doubt that Jews were using this same Calendar centuries before Prophet Muhammad (saw). Therefore, if anyone claims that the “Jewish Calendar” and the “Custom of Fasting” have been distorted after 1st Hijri of Islamic Calendar, then such person is a plain stupid. The Truth: 10th of Muharram is a day of “sorrow” and “great calamities” for Jews too Subhan Allah! The truth is this that 10th of Muharram of 1st Hijri was not the day of “joy” for the Jews. But a big Surprise, that was the day of great calamities and sorrow for Jews too. “Tisha B'Av” is also a fasting day of Jews on 9th of the Jewish month Av. Strange thing is this that this Tisha B'Av corresponded perfectly to the 10th of Muharram of 1st & 2nd Hijri of Islamic Calendar. 1. 10th muharram of muslim is equivalent to Sunday 25 July 622 C.E. (+1 day error according to Islamic Software maker). (Link). 2. 9th of Av, 4382 of jewish Calendar is equivalent to Sunday 25 July 622 C.E (Link). Tisha B'Av: The “Saddest day in Jewish History” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tisha_B%27Av The fast commemorates the destruction of both the First Temple and Second Temple in Jerusalem, which occurred about 655 years apart, but on the same Hebrew calendar date. Although primarily meant to commemorate the destruction of the Temples, it is also considered appropriate to commemorate other Jewish tragedies that occurred on this day, most notably the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492, one of the concluding events of the Iberian Reconquista. Accordingly, the day has been called the "saddest day in Jewish history"..... Note: Another very strange thing is this that Jeremiah (see Jer. 52:12–13) dates the destruction of the First Temple to the tenth of Av (52:12ff.), while there is, however, no biblical witness for the ninth. Subhan Allah! Allah is the greatest. [Quran 3:54] But they (the unbelievers) contrived a plot, and God did the like; and God's plan is the best. Was Prophet sad upon killing of Hussain or happy like Bani Umayyah & Present day Nasibies? O Muslims! Do you remember what your Prophet (saw) advised you about his family (Ahl al-Bayt)? Following tradition of Sahih Muslim is telling that Prophet (saw) advised the Ummah "3 Times" to look how they behave with his Ahl al-Bayt after him. Sahih Muslim, Kitab fada'il al-Sahabah: O people, I am only a human being and I am about to respond to the messenger of my Lord [i.e. the call of death]. I am leaving behind Two Precious Things (Thaqalayn) among you. The first of the two is the Book of Allah. In it is guidance and light. So get hold of the Book of Allah and adhere to it." (The narrator, Zayd ibn al-Arqam said: Then he urged and motivated (us) regarding the Book of Allah . Then he said), "And my Ahl al-Bayt (family). I urge you to remember Allah regarding my Ahl al-Bayt. I urge you to remember Allah regarding my Ahl al-Bayt. I urge you to remember Allah regarding my Ahl al-Bayt. But O Muslims! Just tell even after this advice of "3 times" still what happened to the beloved grandson Hussain of Prophet? Sunnan Ibn Majah, Kitab-ul-Fitn (Online Link for Original Arabic Version): Narrated by Alqamah from Abdullah bin Masood: One day we were sitting with Holy Prophet(s) when some children from the house of Bani Hashim came there. When the Holy Prophet(s) saw them, tears welled up in his eyes and he became pale. Ibn Masood said that he told the Holy Prophet(s) "Your face reflects anxiety".The Holy Prophet(s) stated:"Exalted God has granted us,the Ahlulbait, Hereafter instead of worldly pleasure. After me, soon my Ahlulbait will face calamity, hardship and misery till people having black flags will rise from East and seek justice, which will be denied them. They will wage war, they will be supported and will be given what they were demanding. They will not accept until it is handed over to one from our Ahlulbait (i.e. Mahdi) .He will fill the earth with justice as it was filled with injustice. Whoever amongst you is alive at that period, should try to reach them even if he has to tread on ince in that pursuit." (al-Sanadi wrote in commentary of Ibn Majah that this same tradition has also been recorded in Mustadrak of al-Hakim through another chain of Umar bin Qais -- Hakam --I braheem) Saudi Mufti, Al-Albaani records a ‘Sahih’ Hadith: Gabriel came to me and informed me that my Ummah will kill my son Hussain. I asked: ‘This Hussian?’. He (s) replied: ‘Yes’ he then brought me some of its soil that was red. Narrated by Umm al-Fadhal bint al-Harith that she went to the Holy Prophet (s) and said: ‘O Prophet (s), I have seen an unclear dream tonight’. He (s) asked: ‘What is it?’ She replied: ‘I saw that as if a part of your body was cut off from you and was placed upon my chest’. He (s) said: ‘You have seen something good. Inshallah Fatimah will bear a baby boy and he will be upon your chest.’ So Fatima gave birth to Hussain and he was on my chest as the Prophet (s) had notified me. On one day I went to the Holy Prophet (s) and put Hussain on his chest then he turned his face to the side and I witnessed his (s) eyes flowing with tears. I asked: “Prophet of Allah (s), may parents be sacrificed for you, what is wrong?” he (s) then mentioned it (the above hadith). Silsilah Al-Ahadith Al-Sahiyah, Volume 2 page 462 Hadith 821 Witness of Ibn Abbas about mourning of Prophet for Hussain: Translation: “Abdullah bin Abbas narrates that he saw holy prophet (saw) while sleeping in afternoon, his hair were scattered, and full of dust, and he had a bottle filled with blood; I asked him: My parents be sacrificed for you, what is this? He replied: this is the blood of Hussain and his companions, I have been collecting it since day time. Narrator said that when we calculated, it was the day Hussain embraced martyrdom”. AUTHENTICATION OF THE NARRATION: - Sheikh Ahmad Shakir says:- chain is Sahih [musnad ahmad, researched by sheikh Ahmad Shakir, vol 4, page 26, narration 2165] - Imam Hakim says:- Sahih on the condition of Imam Muslim, though he did not write. When he passed Ninawa on his way to Siffin Ali called: Be patient Aba Abdillah, be patient Aba Abdillah by ,the Euphrates river ,then I said: and why did you say? he said : Allah’s Prophet (saw) came to me some day and his eyes were overflowed with tears, I said: O Prophet of Allah did someone make you angry why are your eyes overflowing? He said: Jibraeel left me after he told me that Al Hussein asws will be killed by the Euphrates river. He said: do you want to smell some of his soil? I said: yes. He took some of the soil in his hand and gave it to and gave it to me then I could not hold back my tears and my eyes overflowed. Sheikh Ahmad Shakir says: Sanad Sahih This hadeeth has been authenticated by other scholars as well; like albani, haithmi etc Weeping of Skies and Jins upon killing of Hussain: Ummul Momineen Um Salma (ra) has also narrated as recorded by Imam Abi Bakar al-Haythami: عن أم سلمة قالت‏:‏ سمعت الجن تنوح على الحسين بن علي‏.‏ رواه الطبراني ورجاله رجال الصحيح‏.‏ ”I heard the jinns mourning for Husayn ibn Ali’. 21. The Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, who is a Sunni attended mourning ceremonies with shias. It is a great sign of unity, cooperation and a great victory for shias of Afghanistan, especially since only recently shias have been recognised as Muslims by Sunnis in Afghanistan.
  22. http://www.duas.org/zilhajj/Ziaratarafat.htm In the name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful Peace be on you, O the son of Ali Al Murtaza! Peace be on you, O the son of Khadijah Kubra! Peace be on you, O he whose blood-claimer is Allah, He is the blood-claimer of your father also, as those who persecuted you, your relatives and friends have not been punished for their crimes. I bear witness that, verily, you established the prayers, gave the prescribed share to the needy, commanded to do that which is right and lawful, not to do that which is wrong and unlawful, and sincerely served Allah, till the inevitable came unto you. So, curse of Allah be on those who killed you, curse of Allah be on those who persecuted you, curse of Allah be on those who heard all this and rested satisfied. O my Mawlaa! O Aba Abdillah! I call Allah to bear witness, and also His Angels, His Prophets, His Messengers, that I believe in you, and I am sure of your return, (I follow you) in the matter of my religious performances, day-to-day conduct, and “returning to the Creator”. Blessings of Allah be on your souls and bodies, (when) you are in view (when) you are out of sight, on your style, on your substance. Peace be on you, O the son of the Last Prophet, the son of the first successor, the Imam of the God-fearing, the son of the leader of the riders who will urge their white-footed horses unto the blissful land of Paradise. How it is not possible? You are the gateway to guidance, the pious Imam, the safe handle, the decisive proof (of Allah) for the mankind, one of the five people of “Kisa” the hands of Mercy fed you, the bosom of Faith nursed you, the genius of Islam trained you, frankly I am very unhappy on account of your departure, (because) there is no doubt that you are alive. Blessings of Allah be on you, and on your forefathers, and on your descendants. Peace be on you, O he who bathed in tears, troubles, in regular rotation, surrounded you. Curse of Allah be on those who deemed it lawful to do away with your sanctity, then killed you. Blessings of Allah, harnessed and bridled, be on you, the Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be on him and on his children) is your blood-claimer and the book of Allah is renounced (when) you (the part of parcel of it) are lost. Peace be on you, on your grandfather on your father, on your mother, on your brother, on the Imams, in your progeny on the martyrs, martyred with you, on the angels, who surround your holy grave, and on those visitors who are here to perform your “Ziyaarat” and say “let it be so” for your follower’s prayers. Peace be on you, and mercy and blessings of Allah be on you, My father and mother are at your disposal O the son of the Messenger of Allah! My father and mother are at your disposal O Aba Abdillah! Indeed terrible was the calamity, and your suffering casts gloom upon us, and upon all the people of the earth and the heavens, so, curse of Allah be on those who saddled and bridled their horses, gave reins, and got ready to fight against you. O my Mawlaa! O Aba Abdillah! I move towards your “Haram”, I have reached your resting abode, I beseech Allah in the name of privileges you enjoy before Him, in the name of the position you occupy near Him, to send blessings on Muhammad and on his children, and let me be with you in this world and in the Hereafter, as a favour, bestowed upon me through His generosity and kindness. Peace be on you, O the Inheritor of Adam, the sincerely attached friend of Allah! Peace be on you, O the Inheritor of Nooh, the Prophet of Allah! Peace be on you, O the Inheritor of Ibrahim, the intimate friend of Allah! Peace be on you, O the Inheritor of Moosaa, whom Allah addressed!
