  1. That would be blasphemy though. I'm sure that's not what he meant.
  2. I watch loads! I do like Iranian films, but I'm afraid Interstellar beats them all.
  3. This thread might as well be closed now, as I had the immense pleasure, on the 1st of January, to watch perhaps the greatest film that I have ever seen.
  4. Apologies, perhaps I misunderstood your point. Of course I didn't mean to undermine the great work of General Qassem Soleimani. I understood your point as it being mainly Iran who was keeping ISIS at bay.
  5. Not for reliability. Not for the past 50 years
  6. Neither of these statements are true. It is the brave Iraqi volunteers, along with the Iraqi army, who have kept ISIS at bay. And there are plenty of good Iraqi politicians who have given everything for Iraq, and have done plenty 'in regards to the current situation'.
  7. Assalamu Alaykum, 1) Implicated by the CIA and Mossad. Not the most objective parties! 2) May Allah (SWT) protect all the sincere lovers of Ahl Al-Bayt.
  8. Long term goal: GT-R, or maybe an FT-1 when it comes out. Short term goal: GT86 I love Japanese engineering. You just can't beat Japanese reliability.
  9. In this particular scenario, no. I've worked in retail - prices often come up cheaper/more expensive. Just a discrepancy between the price on the system and the price on display.
  10. The context is entirely different. As the poster before me said, tyrants would cut off the limbs of Imam Al-Hussein's pilgrims to try and deter them. People carried on visiting the shrines to challenge the tyrants. Self-flagellating, and willingly harming oneself is an entirely different thing.
  11. Half of a yellow sun http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2215077/ Interesting film about Nigeria in the 60s; specifically, the political turmoil that took place after Nigeria's independence. Will have to research Nigerian politics more to say how objective the film is though.
  12. The Hunt. Fantastic Danish film about a nursery school teacher wrongfully accused of rape. A very, very good film. Extremely well written and directed. I highly recommend that you all watch it!
  13. Night of the 1st of Muharram Seyyid Muhammad Al-Saafi: http://youtu.be/sOB3Q0ZX4B8 Sheikh Jaafar Al-Ibrahimi: http://youtu.be/XHkkxTIzmTE
  14. Is that really a phobia? I'd say that's a pretty rational, normal fear.
  15. Assalamu Alaykum, I can't be bothered to find links for you so feel free to just ignore me if you're not convinced. The 'beard' in Islam is the hair on the chin. There is some difference in opinion on this, but most Fuqahaa', most notable of them Seyyid Al-Khoei, have that view. No one considers the moustache as part of the beard, and it is absolutely fine to shave it. So, to answer your question, according to the mainstream view, shaving the moustache and the cheeks is permissible, but shaving the chin is not. However, that doesn't mean that you can't simply trim the chin-hair down to a zero with a pair of clippers. If you wanted to practice Ihtiyat (precaution), you could shave just your moustache and trim everything else down to a zero - or even forget shaving and just trim everything down to a zero, including your moustache! I hope that I've been clear; if I haven't feel free to ask more questions. By the way, I'm very happy to see a fifteen year-old who cares so much about following the Shari'ah correctly. May Allah (AWJ) bless you!
  16. The irony. A Pakistani male is telling us that statistically speaking Middle Eastern men can't control themselves around women.
  17. I got this a short while back too. Haven't got round to reading it yet though...
  18. This is one of the most ridiculous comments I've ever seen on SC. They have dual nationalities because lots of Da'wah members had to leave Iraq under Saddam's rule. A chunk of them went to Britain. By the way, the prime minister denounced his British citizenship.
  19. I don't know if Pakistanis do this, but Iraqis will say 'Ya Allah' to announce themselves if they know there are non-Mahram women around. The women then have a chance to cover themselves.
  20. I'm not arguing with you. I'm just being realistic. He's not the first university student who wants to get married. I'm afraid it's very rarely feasible, and parents who marry their daughter based purely on potential are rare. Again, I'm not saying that he has to be advanced in his career - but I'd say it would be fair to expect that he has at least started it. On another note, I'd be wary of parents who marry their daughters very easily, and are keen to 'get rid of them'. I know it sounds cynical, but in many situations (not all), there is a reason. This has nothing to do with your friend by the way, I'm speaking in general.
