  3. Salamu Alaikum Warah Matullah, May Allah (swt) reward YOU yes YOU a beautiful palace in Jannah :) enjoy reading From the plains of Karbala emerged a legacy of timeless heroes from the most honorable martyr, Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) to the eloquent messenger of Karbala, Lady Zainab to the 72 men of God who stood defiantly in the face of unparalleled tyranny. Neglected however, in the yearly mourning gatherings of thousands of believers, is Lady Umm Kulthum (peace be upon her). Who was Lady Umm Kulthum? What was her role during the tragedy of Karbala and its heart-breaking aftermath? The House of Islam Lady Umm Kulthum ranks among the few historical figures in Islam who have been honored with ties to the house of Islam and the Holy Quran. Her grandfather was God's last messenger and Prophet, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny). She was born in the 9th year after Hijrah (the Prophet's migration to Medina) and two years before the death of her beloved grandfather. Her blessed parents were Lady Fatima Zahra (peace be upon her) who is regarded as Islam's most perfect woman and her father was the commander of the faithful and the Prophet's successor, Imam Ali (peace be upon him). The leaders of the youth of paradise, Imam Hassan and Hussain were Lady Umm Kulthum's brothers and role models. With such surroundings emerged Lady Umm Kulthum's praised personality and character. Her traits resemble the peerless, excellent qualities of her mother and older sister, Lady Zainab (peace be upon her). In fact, historians have consistently mentioned that Lady Umm Kulthum's title was Zainab al-Sughra (the Younger Zainab) with her older sister, Lady Zainab, being Zainab al-Kubra. Lady Umm Kulthum was 2 years old when her mother passed away, marking the opening of her life's calamities. Following the martyrdom of Lady Fatima Zahra, Lady Umm Kulthum lived under the guidance and care of her father, Imam Ali and her siblings. When Imam Ali was struck with the poisoned sword by the misguided and conniving Ibn Muljim, he stayed at the residence of Lady Umm Kulthum. She is therefore the source of the accounts of information on what occurred on the last night of the life of Imam Ali. Lady Umm Kulthum, following the death of her husband Aun ibn Jafar, embarked with Imam Hussain and Lady Zainab towards Karbala. During the events of Karbala, she assisted her older sister in the tents and with the children. However, her contributions to the legacy and propagation of the events of Karbala did not end there. In fact, she had given many sermons and speeches about the sacrifice of her brothers and family in the forsaken fields of Karbala. The Story of Struggle Retold in the Prisons The propaganda by the Umayyads was unparalleled and they sought to ensure that the story of Karbala was erased from the pages of history. However, the story lived on thanks to the bravery and graceful eloquence of Lady Zainab and Lady Umm Kulthum, who despite being taken as prisoners and paraded in the marketplaces of Kufa and Shaam, re-told the story and sacrifice of Imam Hussain wherever they went. In Kufa, the audience had been led to believe that Imam Hussain was a rebel seeking power rather than a pious and God-wary Imam. Upon entering the city of Kufa, Lady Zainab began explaining to the crowd that had gathered around them of the maliciousness of Yazeed. Lady Umm Kulthum also gave a speech which caused both the men and women of Kufa to lament loudly and cry: "O Kufans! May you face evil! Why did you refrain yourselves from rendering assistance to Hussain, why did you kill him? Why did you plunder his belongings and become its possessors? Why did you imprison his women-folk and suppress him? May you be ruined and uprooted! Woe be to you! Do you know what you have brought forth? And do you know what load of sin have you taken upon your backs? And what blood have you shed? And which women-folk you have taken as captives? And what children have you loot? And what belongings have you plundered? You have killed the best of men succeeding the Prophet, while mercy has departed away from your hearts. "Beware, verily the Party of Allah alone shall be the successful ones, and verily the party of Satan are the losers (Surah al-Mujadilah, 58:22 and 19)." (Nafasul Mahmum) She further inquired of the Kufans, who were celebrating the death of Imam Hussain ignorantly with sweets and dancing: What will you answer if the Prophet were to ask you? What have you done while you were the last of the nations To my progeny and household after my death? From them are captives and others covered with their blood This was not the recompense to which I directed you That after me you deal with my kin with such evil Indeed I fear that a curse will come upon you Like the chastisement befalling the previous nations. (Ma'Ali al-Sibtayn) Proses of Heart Break Upon their return to Medina, Umm Kulthum uttered the following prose to reflect her sadness and heart break at the tragedies that had befell the Prophet's family: O my forefather's city, do not accept us With regret and sorrow returned us With all our family members we left you With no man, no child, we return unto you We did gather before moving We are ransacked when returning Under God's protection it appears were we Of oppressor's cruelty and perjury still fear we Our companion was our leader Hussain Homeless and patrollers are we For our brother did mourn we On camels we are carried On rough ones we are carried We are Taha's and Yasin's daughters We did cry out for our fathers The great infallibles are we The bearers of events are we The truthful advisers are we Oh our forefather, the foes desire was fulfilled By slaying us they have been cursed Be disgraced the women by them Be carried forcefully on camels by them Oh Medina! A caravan of sorrow to thee bring I an abundant gift of tears to thee bring I Oh Medina! Not opened your gate I, no one, a gift of sorrow bestows, except I Oh Medina! If a garden of flowers to Karbala took I If my black hair be whitened by grief but glad am I since a clear proof for our being oppressed carry I I swear to friend life, if captive but glad am I In the best way, my duty did perform I Oh Medina, Yusuf of Ali's family took I Now if not return him, but his shirt carry I Oh Medina! None of Hashimites becomes aware, the message of a man beheaded carry I Oh Medina! Stop me not, if return to thou alive I By so troubles, this half dead body carry I Oh Medina look, these captivities cannot prevent I What by my speeches did to enemies I? (Imam Hussain and the Tragic Saga of Karbala by Ali Nazari Munfared, translated by Ali Ebrahimi) A Record of Historical and Academic Oppression It is not uncommon to see meritorious individuals neglected and misrepresented in Islamic history and instead witness the superficial acclaim of individuals who have tainted Islam's name. Lady Umm Kulthum's contributions to Islam have been reduced to the ridiculous claim that she was married to the second caliph, Umar ibn Khatab. This fabricated story has unfortunately taken away from the significance of the work done by Lady Umm Kulthum in spreading the universal values of Karbala. It is an injustice to allow this claim to go un-refuted and to neglect the radiating character of all of the grandchildren of the Holy Prophet. The claim that Lady Umm Kulthum married Umar ibn Khattab is nothing short of academic character assassination. Lady Umm Kulthum was married only once, to her cousin Aun ibn Jafar. Those who wish to detract from her esteemed personality incorrectly claim she was married to the second caliph and following his death, remarried two more times. This could not be farther from the truth and those who slander her whole personality have been unable to respond to its refutations: Umar's daughter Hafsah was married to the Holy Prophet and the Prophet's granddaughter was Lady Umm Kulthum. Why would any man wish to marry the granddaughter of his son-in-law? The Sunni historians who claim that Lady Umm Kulthum was married to Umar ibn Khatab stated that she passed away during the reign of Muawiya ibn Abu Sufyan and yet they accept narrations that state she was alive during the events of Karbala. The Imams have rejected this claim as false: Umar bin Adheena said to Imam Ja'far Sadiq (peace be upon him), "People claim that Imam Ali married his daughter to such a person." The Imam, who was until then sitting down, stood up and said angrily, "Whoever holds such a viewpoint is misled." (Nasehkul Tawareekh, v. 3 p. 408) Umar ibn Khattab had several wives, and a number of them also had the title Umm Kulthum, including Umme Kulthum Jameela binte Asim bin Thabit, Umme Kulthum binte Jarweela Khuzeema, and Umme Kulthum binte Abu Bakr. (Tareekh Khamees v. 2 p. 251) It is widely considered true that Umar ibn Khattab married the daughter of Abu Bakr, Umme Kulthum binte Abu Bakr, and the marriage was agreed to by Aisha, the Prophet's wife. (Tareekh Kamil, v. 3 p. 41; Tareekh Khamees, v. 2 p. 267; Al Istiab, v. 2 p. 795) In order to portray a facade of a close relationship between the second caliph and the Prophet's family, some substituted the name of the wife of Umar to deceive people into thinking the daughter of Imam Ali was married to Umar. Yet this is just another attempt to raise the ranks of those without legitimate claim to leading the Muslim world. The life of Lady Umm Kulthum has survived the oppression of the Umayyads and those inclined towards them who have neglected her dedication to Islam.

  11. Amal to save one from the squeezes in the grave There are many acts (A'amal) to save one from the squeeze in the grave. Here are seventeen of them. (1) Amirul Mo'meneen Ali says, that a person who recites Surah-an-Nisa on every Friday will remain safe from the squeeze in the grave. (2) It is narrated that if a person recites Surah-az- Zukhruf, Allah will save him from the reptiles of the earth, and the squeeze in the grave. (3) A person who recites Surah-al-Qalam in Obligatory Prayers (Wajib Namaz) or Supererogatory Prayers (Nafela), will remain safe from this punishment. (4) Imam Ja'far-as-Sadiq says, that if a person dies between the sunset of thursday and the sunset of friday, Allah will exempt him from this punishment. (5) Imam Ali-ar-Reza says, that the Midnight Prayers (Namaze Shab) is recommended (sunnat) for you. So if a person gets up in the last part of the night and recites Namaze Shab, Allah will save him from the squeeze in the grave and grant him immunity from the fire of hell, and will increase his age and sustenance. (6) The Holy Prophet says, that if a person recites Surah-at-Takasur before going to bed, Allah will grant him freedom from this punishment. (7) If a person recites this supplication (dua') ten times daily will be saved from this punishment. Infortunatly I have lost this dua. Anybody who knows it ? A person who is buried in Najafe Ashraf. Because the earth of that place has got the especiality, that a person buried there will be saved from the punishment in the grave, and will be exempted from the questioning by Munkir and Nakeer. (9) To put Jareedatayn (two wet sticks or branches) along with the dead body in the grave. It is narrated that so long as the sticks remain wet, the dead person is saved from chastisement. It is related that once the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S.) was passing by a grave on which Allah's wrath was descending. He called for a leafless branch. He cut it from between, wetted it with water, and kept one on the head of the grave and the other on the feet. It is also related that to sprinkle water on the grave is also beneficial, for so long as the mud of the grave remains wet, the dead person remains safe from the punishment in the grave. (10) A person who recites ten units (Rak'at) of Namaz on the 1st of Rajab such that in every Rak'at after Surah-al Hamd recites three times Surah-at-Tawheed, will be saved from the squeeze in the grave. To recite twenty Raka'at Namaz on the night of 1st Rajab, such that in every Rak'at after Surah-al-Hamd recite once Surah-at-Tawheed is beneficial to save oneself from the punishment in the grave. (11) To fast for four days in the month of Rajab or twelve days in the month of Sha'ban is also beneficial. (12) To recite Surah-al-Mulk on the grave is an act which saves the dead man from the punishment in the grave. Allamah Qutubuddin Rawandi relates from Ibn Abbas, who says that once a person pitched a tent on a ground not knowing that there was a grave beneath. Thereafter he started reciting Surah-al-Mulk. Suddenly he heard a voice saying that the Surah gives salvation. He related this incident to the Holy Prophet , who replied that, "Verily this Surah frees a person from the punishment in the grave". Shaikh Kulaini also narrates from Imam Mohammad-al-Baqir who said that the recitation of Surah-al-Mulk saves one from the punishment in the grave. (13) It is related from the Holy Prophet in "Da'waat" of Allamah Qutubuddin Rawandi that, when a person is being buried and someone recites this supplication (du'a) thrice, the corpse will remain safe from the punishment in the grave till the day of Qayamat: Çááåã Çäí ÇÓÇáß ÈÍÞ ãÍãÏ æÇá ãÍãÏ Çä áÇ ÊÚÐÈ åÐÇ ÇáãíÊ (14) Shaikh Toosi in his `Misbahul Mutahajjid' relates the Holy Prophet as saying that, if a person recites the following two Rak'at Namaz on friday night, Allah will free him from the punishment in the grave, and save him from fear on the day of Qayamat. In each Rak'at after Surah- al-Hamd recite fifteen times Surah-az-Zilzal. (15) To recite thirty Rak'at Namaz in the middle part of the month of Rajab, such that in each Rak'at after Surah-al- Hamd recite ten times Surah-al-Tawheed is beneficial to ward off punishment in the grave. In the same manner to recite the above Namaz on the night of 16th and 17th Rajab and the 1st of Sha'ban is also beneficial. On the night of the 1st of Sha'ban to recite 100 Rak'at Namaz, such that in each Rak'at after Surah-al-Hamd recite once Surah-at Tawheed, after ending the Namaz recite fifty times Surah at-Tawheed. On the night of 24th Sha'ban recite one hundred Rak'at Namaz, such that in each Rak'at after Surah-al-Hamd recite ten times Surah-an-Nasr. Also to recite fifty Rak'at Namaz such that in each Rak'at after Surah-al-Hamd recite fifty times Surah-at-Tawheed, fifty times Surah-al-Falaq, and 50 times Surah-an-Naas saves one from the punishment in the grave. To recite the same Namaz on the night of `Ashoora' (10th of Moharram) is also beneficial. (16) To keep `Khake Shifa' (the mud of the grave of Imam Husain in the shroud (kafan), or to rub it on the parts of prostration (Sajdah). (17) It is narrated from Imam Ja'far-as-Sadiq in "Anware No'maniyyah" that if forty persons gather near the body and recite: Çááåã ÇäÇ áÇ äÚáã ãäå ÇáÇ ÎíÑÇ æÇäÊ ÇÚáã Èå ãäÇ ÝÇÛÝÑ áå Allah will safeguard the dead man from the punishment in the grave. It is related from Imam Ja'far-as-Sadiq that there was a virtuous man in Bani Israil, regarding whom it was revealed to Prophet Dawood that he was a hypocrite (riyakar) When he died, Hazrat Dawood refrained from attending his funeral. But forty other people attended his funeral and said: Çááåã ÇäÇ áÇ äÚáã ãäå ÇáÇ ÎíÑÇ æÇäÊ ÇÚáã Èå ãäÇ ÝÇÛÝÑ áå Then another forty came and repeated the same, for they were not aware of the hidden reality. Allah then revealed to Dawood and asked him as to why did he not attend his funeral? Hazrat Dawood answered, "O Lord! You said that the man was a hypocrite, and so I avoided his funeral". Allah said, "Verily it was true, but because forty persons bore witness to his goodness I forgave his sins". It is Allah's mercy and beneficence who thus forgave His servant with any trial or tribulation. It is for this reason that the believers (mo'meneen) in the olden days kept their shrouds (kafan) with them, and wouldrequest other believers to write down their testimonies on it The sight of the shroud made them remember death and increase the fear of the hereafter. We too should follow this example and request other Mu'meneen to write down their testimonies on our shrouds, and preserve it with us, so that we are always reminded of the hereafter
  12. What is the dependability of this hadith? From Imam Sadiq that says: " Allah has a thousand thousand Adams and a thousand thousand earths".

  18. SAlamu alaikum warah matullah The best adornment of the believer's garment is precaution and the most blessed garment is belief. As Allah said, æóáöÈóÇÓõ ÇáÊóøÞúæóìó Ðóáößó ÎóíúÑñ And clothing that guards [against evil]; that is best. (7:26) Outward dress is a blessing from Allah in order to preserve the modesty of the sons of Adam; it is a mark of honour which Allah has given to the descendants of Adam. He did not give that honour to any other creature; it is given to the believers as a means of carrying out their obligations. Your best garments are those which do not distract you from Allah, those garments, in fact, which bring you closer to remembrance of Him, and gratitude and obedience to Him. They do not, however, move you to pride, conceit, pretence, boastfulness or arrogance: those things are the scourge of the faith, and their legacy is hardness of heart. When you put on your clothes, remember that Allah veils your wrong actions with His mercy. You should clothe your inward part as you clothe your outward part with your garment. Let your inward truth be veiled in awe of Allah, and let your outward truth be veiled in obedience. Take heed of the overflowing favour of Allah, since He created the means to make garments for covering physical immodesty and opened the gates for repentance, regret, and seeking succour, in order to veil the inward parts, and their wrong actions and bad character. Do not expose anyone's faults when Allah has concealed worse things in yourself. Occupy yourself with your own faults, and overlook matters and situations which do not concern you. Beware lest you exhaust your life in other people's actions and exchange your irreplaceable endowed wealth with someone else, thereby destroying yourself. Forgetting wrong actions brings about the greatest punishments of Allah in this world, and is the most ample cause for punishment in the next. So long as the bondsman occupies himself with obeying Allah, with recognizing his own faults and leaving alone whatever might devalue faith in Allah, he is spared ruin and is immersed in the sea of Allah's mercy, attaining the gems and the benefits of wisdom and clarity. But as long as he forgets his own wrong actions, is ignorant of his own faults, and falls back on his power and strength, he will never be successful.
  19.      i know how you feel sister, stay strong and be patient and never stop making dua for his re-appearence....The TIME is veryy close as we can see around us and its scary ..... :( may Allah strenghten our eman and taqwa... Yaaaaaaaaa MAHDIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII ADRIKNIII
  20. salammmmmu alaikum warah amtullah Fear Allah and be where you wish to be among any people you choose to be. There is no conflict for anyone in a state of precaution. Precaution is desirable for all parties; in it is gathered all goodness and maturity. It is the measure of all knowledge and wisdom, of every accepted act of obedience. Precaution is the water which gushes out from the spring of Allah's gnosis: every branch of knowledge is in need of it. It does not need any confirmation of knowing how to be still in awe of Allah and His power. Increase in precaution comes from Allah's acquainting His bondman's secret with His subtle mercy: this is the root of every truth. Falsehood is whatever cuts you off from Allah- every group agrees on this also. Therefore avoid falsehood, devoting your secret to Allah without any attachment. The Messenger of Allah said, 'The truest words that the Bedouins spoke are the words of Labid when he said, ‘Indeed everything but Allah is false And every blessing is most certainly ephemeral.' So cling to what is agreed upon by people of purity, piety and precaution in the roots of the faith, the realities of certainty, Allah's pleasure, and submission. Do not enter into disagreement and disputations among people, for then things will become difficult for you. The chosen community has agreed that Allah is One and that there is nothing like Him; and that He is just in His judgement, does whatever He wishes, and governs what He wills. One does not ask 'why?' about anything of His making. There has not been and will never be anything that is not according to His will and desire; He has the power to do what He wills, and He is true in His promise and His threat. The Qur'an is His word, and it existed before phenomenal being, place and time. The creation of phenomenal beings and their annihilation are the same with Him: their creation did not increase His knowledge, nor will their passing decrease His kingdom. His power is mighty and He is majestic, glory be to Him. If someone brings to you anything which falls short of this fundamental truth, do not accept it. Devote your inward being to that and you will see its blessings close at hand. You will be among the victors. " Overlook and forgive the weaknesses of the generous people because if they fall down, Allah will help them." I Ali.
  21. (bismillah) (salam) young dear brother i suggest hawzah for you. :)
