  2. Atheistic doubt is rooted in the ignorance/lack of metaphysics and philosophy regarding God. The scholars of Shiism such as Ayatollah Khomeini & Allama Tabatabai have stressed that metaphysics and philosophy shouldn’t be limited to the Islamic Semianries but to all believers. There are many great books in English about the teachings of Mulla Sadra which delve into the nature of God’s existence. https://www.amazon.com/Triumph-Mercy-Philosophy-Scripture-Mulla/dp/1438443404?keywords=mulla+sadra&qid=1538247624&sr=8-8&ref=mp_s_a_1_8 https://www.amazon.com/Mulla-Sadra-Makers-Islamic-Civilization/dp/0199451176?keywords=mulla+sadra&qid=1538247665&sr=8-9&ref=mp_s_a_1_9 https://www.amazon.com/Mulla-Sadra-Shirazi-Philosophy-Supplement/dp/0199297428?keywords=mulla+sadra+sajjad+rizvi&qid=1538247689&sr=8-2&ref=mp_s_a_1_2
  3. Music is the production of sound in a pattern which stimulates the human mind and emotions. Various Maraja have differing views on music. Ayatollah Sistani differentiates music into forbidden and permissible music. He states that forbidden music is that which is played at haram gatherings or contains indecent lyrics/ideas which can lead an individual to committing haram. https://www.sistani.org/english/qa/01246/
  4. Thanks for the idea of putting a plastic foil on the wound and wiping over it, doing jabirah. However do you think that is sound per the ruling of any marja? Really appreciate the responses from all.
  5. Yes there is a bandage covering the stitches around my head & the doctor said no wetness should touch it.
  6. SA, I had surgery recently and my doctor said I cannot put water on my head because I have stitches. I recently have become in a state of Janabat. How can I do ghusl if my head cannot become wet? I follow Sistani and I’m a man.
  7. How? If it is frowned upon in the community and young western women don’t like the idea of marriage, then how can it be the best time period?
  8. In Shia Islam we have this significant practice known as Muta which is to keep us away from sins like fornication, pornography, and masturbation. However the intricate laws of Muta (chosen by Maraja in non-western Islamic countries) and the societal circumstances are absolutely opposed to practicing this act. Within a Shia community, a man or woman cannot do muta with each other because they will be looked at in a negative way in the community. Shia Men cannot do Muta with Christian and Jewish Woman because let’s be honest: Western women will freak out when you mention marriage and then you try to make them repeat some Arabic verses. I’m a Shia Man who wants to do Muta but I’ve come to realize that it’s almost impossible due to the impractical rulings which cannot be applied in a Western country.
  9. Which Hawza city (Qom, Najaf, etc.) is best for learning Irfan? Which specific program do you recommend? Are these degrees connected to Academic degrees like Masters and PhD. I want to go to Hawza and focus primarily on the science of Irfan. I know it will take many years to master. I want to focus on theoretical and eventually practical Irfan.
  10. Salam, There is this Marja that I would like to follow but he has passed away. Can I Do Taqlid to a Marja that is dead? **I'm planning to follow Ayatollah Sistani on new issues**
  11. Salam, I am curious if there is any Marja that permits the eating of Lobster and Crab. Maraja that classify Lobster and Crab as Makhrooh are mentionable as well. I know Ayatollah Sistani and Khamenai say Lobster and Crab is haram. I am looking for Maraja that say otherwise.
  12. Yes you can hang a photo of the Buddha as long as you do not worship it. The Buddha is a symbol of high consciousness and Knowledge, also known as Ma'rifa. I would however advise that the photo be away from your prayer area.
