  1. (bismillah) Here is an excerpt from Ayatullah Ibrahim Amini's book Self Building: It is recommended that in the state of Qunoot one should try to cry and shed tears because, of remembering his past sins and transgressions, God-Almighty Day of Judgment and the Hell's fire. According to Islamic traditions, if one prays for forty believers God-Almighty grants his supplications. Therefore, in Qunoot it is recommended to ask God's forgiveness for at least forty believers, (including your parents, relatives, neighbors, colleagues, scholars, martyrs etc.) in the following manner: (Allahummaghfir ) Oh God! forgive (Mention the name of person, and repeat it for forty people) So, you don't have to ask forgiveness for forty believers (you can do more or less). It's just recommended to do so. (wasalam)
  2. (bismillah) I am not familiar with the prayer you're referring to. However, usually when it mentions more than 4 rakats we are suppose to break them up into 2 rakat prayers. It may not be explicit about how to do it becuase it's implied that you would pray 4 prayers of 2 rakats each. (wasalam)
  3. (bismillah) The most reasonable answer would have to be that the children of Adam and Eve married each other in order to continue the human race. Even though, generally speaking, marriage between brother and sister has never been considered legal in any revealed religion. If there is no other option and the fate of humanity would depend on the marriage of brother and sister, such a case could not be considered sinful. If we are compelled to commit an act, I don't see how that could be considered a sin. Allah (ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì) could simply allow such an act to take place and not consider it a sin, becuase they wouldn't have violated His will. I don't see the need to bring in another creature from heaven just so that Allah (ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì) can circumvent His own decree for humanity. A simple exception to the general rule would suffice. (wasalam)
  4. (bismillah) No, as brother Basim Ali said, when it mentions more than 4 rakats it is implied that you would be breaking them up into 2 rakat prayers. For example, the 8 rakats of Salat-ul-Layl are suppose to be 4 prayers (each consisting of 2 rakats). The structure of the prayer would be just like you do Salat-ul-Fajr. (wasalam)
  5. (bismillah) Excellent poem. Thanks for sharing. (wasalam)
  6. (bismillah) "There are two insatiable types of people who are never satisfied by their quest: the seeker of knowledge and the seeker after this world." - Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) (wasalam)

  10. ÈÓã Çááå ÇáÑÍãä ÇáÑÍíã According to the ruling of Ayatullah al-Udhma as-Sayyid Ali al-Husseini as-Sistani: 527. If a person touches a human dead body which has become cold and has not yet been given Ghusl (i.e. brings any part of his own body in contact with it) he should do Ghusl regardless of whether he touched it while asleep or awake, voluntarily or otherwise. Ghusl will also be wajib if his nail or bone touches the nail or bone of the dead body. However, Ghusl is not obligatory if one touches a dead animal. 11. ÈÓã Çááå ÇáÑÍãä ÇáÑÍíã Well, if the dog simply touches your jeans then it won't make them najis. However, if any part of the dog is wet and its wetness transfers over to your jeans then they will be considered najis. Also, if the dog happens to touch your jeans and its hair sticks to your jeans you would only have to remove the hair and the jeans are still tahir. Hope this helps. áÇ Íæá æáÇÞæÉ ÅáÇ ÈÇááå
  12. ÈÓã Çááå ÇáÑÍãä ÇáÑÍíã According to the office of Ayatullah al-Udhma as-Sayyid Ali al-Husseini as-Sistani: 2444. Woman should conceal her body and hair from a man who is non-Mahram, and as an obligatory precaution, she should conceal herself even from a Na-baligh boy who is able to discern between good and evil, and could probably be sexually excited. But she can leave her face and hands upto wrists uncovered in the presence of Na-Mahram, as long as it does not lead him to casting a sinful, evil glance or her to doing something forbidden; for in both these cases, she must cover them. ________________________________________________ Question : When does a boy become adult? In other words, when is he supposed to begin carrying out religious acts as obligatory duties? Answer : A boy reaches the age of bolugh (adulthood) at the completion of 15 lunar years except for when one of the signs of bolugh appears before that age. __________________________________________ Question: How is puberty confirmed? Answer: Puberty in males could be confirmed if one of three signs was present. 1. First: Completion of fifteen lunar calendar years of age. 2. Second: Ejaculation through sexual intercourse, or seminal discharge while awake or asleep. 3. Third: The presence of pubic hair, of the rough type, similar to head hair. _________________________________________ Source: http://www.sistani.org/index.php?p=616687&id=1127 áÇ Íæá æáÇÞæÉ ÅáÇ ÈÇááå
  13. ÈÓã Çááå ÇáÑÍãä ÇáÑÍíã Here are a couple of questions posted on the website of Ayatullah al-Udhma as-Sayyid Ali al-Husseini as-Sistani: Question: Can I invest my money in the stock market? Answer: There is no objection in it. _________________________________________________ Question: Is it permissible to invest in companies who deal in part, in intoxicating drinks without the possibility of separating one’s investment from that of the others in that line of production? Answer: It is not permissible to participate or deal in the production of intoxicating drinks. _________________________________________________ Source: http://www.sistani.org/index.php?p=616687&id=1227 So, it looks like there is nothing wrong with buying and selling on the stock market. However, we must be cautious when in comes to investing in companies that sell haram products. The above question refers to specifically, intoxicating drinks, but likely the case with all haram products. Hope this helps. áÇ Íæá æáÇÞæÉ ÅáÇ ÈÇááå

  15. ÈÓã Çááå ÇáÑÍãä ÇáÑÍíã The issue isn't concerning an Uncaused Cause. We must concede to the notion of an Uncaused Cause due to the impossiblity of an infinite regression of effects that do not have an original cause. The point of difference between materialists and theists is whether the First Cause is material or immaterial. Both hold that it must be eternal and self-sustaining. Materialists hold that the First Cause could be matter itself. Essentially, that the First Cause is an unconscious entity, devoid of knowledge and intellect. Whereas, theists assert that the First Cause has limitless knowledge and wisdom. The various phenomena in the universe gives a strong indication that such an entity must possess infinite wisdom and knowledge. There are too many examples to cite regarding the fine-tuned nature of the universe. In fact, the theory of evolution gives an even stronger indication that matter, in and of itself, does not have the ability to create such an elaborate and self-sustaining set of natural laws, rather this must be the work of an Immaterial Being. Regarding whether we created God, is objectionable. Here is an excerpt from Ayatullah Muhammad Baqir as-Sadr's book, The Revealer, The Messenger, The Message: Since the earliest times of human history, man had attained faith in God, worshipped Him alone in sincerity and manifested a deep relationship with Him. This took place before man reached any stage of purely philosophical reasoning or the comprehension of the methods of demonstration. This faith was not the child of class struggle, nor was it the invention of exploiters or tyrants as a justification of their exploitation. It was not the invention of the exploited in order to justify their own suffering. This is because faith has preceded all such conflicts in human history. Faith in God was not born out of fear and the feeling of awe in the face of natural catastrophes and nature's unpredictable behavior. For, had faith been born of fear, or had it been the result of awe, then the most religious among men throughout history would have been the ones most given to fear and dread. On the contrary, those who have carried the torch of faith across the ages have been people of great strength, of character and will. This faith, rather, expresses a fundamental inclination in man to be devoted to his Creator. It manifests a pure conscience enabling him to discern the connection between man and his Lord and between God and the universe which He created. In addition, those who contend that belief in God was likely the result of fear does not seem likely. If this was a conscious decision to resort to a belief in God in order to provide comfort during times of fear, it does not seem plausible. How would such a concept provide solace to an individual or society when they are the ones concocting this belief? If it is meant that such a belief was an unintended reaction to the fear, then this may be more plausible. In other words, even if belief in God was born out of fear it doesn't negate the existence of God. The reasons for pursuing a certain thing does not affect its reality or existence. For example, if researchers discover a cure for a particular type of cancer the cure is valid even though it was fear that drove us to spend much time and effort in finding it. As we continue to discover more and more realities of the universe, the probability of it being the result of an Absolute entity with limitless knowledge and wisdom only increases. áÇ Íæá æáÇÞæÉ ÅáÇ ÈÇááå
