@Zahra_jan The sister @1472Maryam has not visited ShiaChat since 2014. If you reply in the topic, I'm sure active members will give their advice to you.

  2. (salam) Currently reading Why Does the World Exist? by Jim Holt. (wasalam)
  3. (salam) I am currently reading BOLIVAR: American Liberator by Marie Arana, and on my commute to work I am listening to MY BELOVED WORLD by Sonia Sotomayor. (wasalam)
  4. Salam alaikum, Welcome sister. GreyMatter has given a pretty good list of things to check out, so I won't add anything other than to say to ask us any questions you may have.
  5. (salam) You should be fine. Would you be travelling alone or with others? (wasalam)
  6. (salam) Yes, but the judges are not all knowing, whereas Allah (swt) is aware of all intentions and abilities. (wasalam)
  7. (salam) Thanks for the link. I had always wondered about that. (wasalam)
  8. (salam) I believe that Allah (swt) is just, so if a person was truly mentally incapacitated and unable to distinguish right from wrong, then I have to think this person can be saved. Of course, only Allah (swt) knows for sure. (wasalam)
  9. (salam) I live in what used to be a rural area not far from a major city. Occasionally, when I am driving around, I may see an abandoned house on a small tract of land that has not yet been developed, and it takes me back to what life was like before all the hustle and bustle. When I was there for Hajj, I felt a strong urge to find that "abandoned house". Driving between Medina and Mecca at night, the sky full of stars (where I live, we normally can't see many because of all the lights) really struck me. At least Allah's universe has not been altered by man. Subhanallah. (wasalam)
  10. (salam) EMBERS OF WAR: The Fall of an Empire and the Making of America's Vietnam by Fredrik Logevall. (wasalam)
  11. (salam) I think that what is important in a relationship is that the two people agree upon the place of money in their lives. If not, it can create much conflict. (wasalam)
  12. (salam) I found this to be a most helpful and logical explanation of the Shia historical perspective: http://www.al-islam.org/restatement/index.htm. (wasalam)
  13. (salam) Inshallah, I try to read and contemplate at least 10 ayahs of the Quran everyday. Today's reading happened to include these ayahs from Sura al-Hijr: "But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, and We turned (the Cities) upside down and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. And the (Cities were) right on the high-road. Behold! in this is a Sign for those who believe!" -15:73-77 (wasalam)
  14. (salam) I would say that if you take out the phrase "homeschool her child and" in the previous post, it would be a truer statement. There is nothing inherent in home schooling that makes it more difficult that dealing with public schools in the west. (wasalam)
  15. (salam) Our sons are adults now but we homeschooled them for a number of years. The resources the first responder sent above are all good. I first researched the laws in our state (Virginia) and then looked up lots of different curricula and picked and chose among them. I also used the knowledge of other homeschoolers in our area and planned outings and field trips with them. A friend of mine is currently homeschooling her children using the Waldorf method and she is very happy with it. Feel free to PM me if you have any particular questions. (wasalam)
