It's amazing how Salafis are criticized for being overly literal readers, and yet some Shias are doing the same. I swear I saw this same exact discussion 10 years ago.
Is the metaphor and analogy a lost art?

    Salaam,
It is with regret that there is news coming from Karbala that 31 people have died in a stampede in Karbala when a rod/barrier broke.
    Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ)
There are also about 100 injured so please pray for them.

Anyway, not here to get into the lions den. Peace out!

I thought that was a common IndoPak trait?
Most I meet are super thin toothpicks who can't lift a box. They lack the Persian wrestling genes. Also why they don't win any athletic competitions.

Yes, the speech style doesn’t translate well to English. It’s not just the words of a language, but also the flow, rhythm, and melody.
There are so many styles that would work better for English. Look at public speakers (or even Christian preachers) for tips on delivery.
My opinion is that most Muslim speakers are not skilled public speakers, and use the Arabic style because it sounds the most “Islamic” and familiar. It’s just tradition.

If we claim Shia Islam is a global religion, every major language needs their style and to be represented. We need English, Chinese, Spanish, French, and many more. Just Arabic, Farsi, and Urdu isn’t going to cut it.

Reza got a reaction from yakubumuhammad246 in Give a Salawat! [OFFICIAL THREAD]
    Salaam everybody:
Here's an opportunity to increase blessings throughout this community and throughout the whole world.  I remember seeing old threads from years past about salawat pledges, but this thread will be slightly different.  The only goal of this thread is to post the salawat as often as we can, and nothing more:
    اللّهُمّ صَلّ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمّدٍ
Allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
O Allah: (please do) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
    Rules of this thread:
    1.  All members are encouraged to post the salawat as often as they like, English or Arabic (but only once per post please)
    2.  Like as many posts as possible (reciting it yourself out loud while you like the post)
    3.  No other discussions or statements please, this is purely for salawat only
Let's see how long this chain will go, and how much blessing we can all accumulate from posting and liking.  More information on the salawat:
    http://www.duas.org/salwaat.htm
    I'll get started:
Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad wa ali Muhammad

It's interesting how some people are super strict on authentication of Islamic sources for fiqh rulings, ralling against selectivity and cherry picking, yet the range of scholarship and opinion by non-Muslim sources is treated with such a lax, whatever suits me type attitude.

Yeah, that did happen, but others continued to disbelieve, or were hypocrites regardless. That’s how many of them got killed (even in cold blood). So obviously simply meeting them was not enough, the inclination to believe has to already be there, which requires a receptive heart.
You tell me, I don’t know.
Give your own alternative view of human nature then. Why should I doubt the one I said?
Guidance is a two way street. There’s a responsibility on both sides. It’s not a passive one way process.
A student has to put in their own effort for internalization, merely being spoon fed won’t do anything.
