Why not? I always thought the "man proposing to the girl" was just a cultural tradition. This is just psychologial, to make the girl and girl's family feel like they are wanted. That they are special.
Personally, I don't care. As long as people are getting married and it is a good marriage, I don't care. I hate all this cultural stuff clouding the clear path of nikah.

I went in too naive and excited, and then just got heartbroken when the first few semi-serious contacts all fell flat for XYZ reason, and you are already so emotionally attached to the process.
Many of these girls are confused themselves, not serious, or very wishy-washy. My message to girls: do not post profiles casually for fun, for laughs, or just "to see what is out there". You have the potential to really mess with guy's heads and hearts.
I first thought that online would be the future, and would give you more options and easier accessibility than real life. But I guess not.

    Shiachat people:
A while ago I made a thread about whether or not I should join a certain marriage website (not saying which).
Guess what? I did. And its been awful.
It's been about three weeks now, and this is what I've dealt with:
    1. Girls with promise that I communicate with briefly, then disappear without a trace without any message back. They don't log into the site anymore and are no where to be found. This has hapened so many times. Can someone explain why this happens? This is not an isolated case, this has consistently happened with almost everybody.
    2. Girls who reject me because I'm Shia (my fault for messaging Sunnis, but I'm desparate).
    3. Girls who reject me because of everything else (ethnicity, age, location, wanting children NOW which i don't want)
    4. Girls who are too old. So many of them.
    5. Girls who have super annoying ways of writing, like using "u", "y", "r". GOD, I hate that...
So far, I have nobody. Sad? Yes. Depressed? Yes. Confused? Definitely yes.
Another thing: I swear that more than half of these female profiles are either fake or joke accounts.

    No.
Saying that industrialization leads to human progress is the same as saying that porn satisfies natural sexual desire or that gluttony is the cure for hunger.
Industrialization as we know it is against fitrah, because it is not dependent on divine ethical values to function, but by technological and economic indicators, and the only default option is expansion at all costs. It becomes out of human hands, and becomes an autonomous system fueled only by unnatural and animalistic unnatural desires.
Sure, ethics are "interjected" into the process, just like social democrats for a free market. This is either to sugar coat it to make it easier to swallow, or perhaps just to give the impression that humans are still in control. But it's still a rapid and uncontrollable animal, no matter big the paper cage is.
Industrialization is NOT the same thing as technological progress, economic expansion, or social change. It is merely a perverted form of such.
