  3. I have certainly heard this one before. Well there is a hadis in sahih bukhari where Umar Bin Khattab reference to the prophet(pbuhp) saying. However it has been refuted in the very same book by Aisha: When 'Umar was stabbed, Suhaib came in weeping and saying, "O my brother, O my friend!" (on this 'Umar said to him, "O Suhaib! Are you weeping for me while the Prophet said, "The dead person is punished by some of the weeping of his relatives?" Ibn Abbas added, "When 'Umar died I told all this to Aisha and she said, 'May Allah be merciful to Umar. By Allah, Allah's Messenger did not say that a believer is punished by the weeping of his relatives. But he said, Allah increases the punishment of a non-believer because of the weeping of his relatives." Aisha further added, "The Quran is sufficient for you (to clear up this point) as Allah has stated: 'NO BURDENED SOUL WILL BEAR ANOTHER'S BURDEN.' " (35.18). Ibn Abbas then said, "Only Allah makes one laugh or cry." Ibn Umar did not say anything after that. Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 23, Number 375 Hope this is of some value...
  4. i do that too when im really bored and have nothing better to do!!!!
  5. Personally I think it does make a difference...we being human being are inquisitive and like to know more about ourselves. That journey often includes finding out the meaning of your name and especially who had this name in the past. In the process we begin to admire and acknowledge that person as well making him/her a part of our personality.
  6. Sorry I think you misunderstood what i was trying to say. I wasnt accusing you. I was just implying that a wahabi might have asked you such a question because the same thing happened to me on the 12th of rabiulawal.
  7. im thinkin how far will people go to make the most out of their annonymity.

  15. Salam, Well this question is being raised quite frequently but i dont understand whats wrong with remembering and celebrating the birth of someone all of us muslims claim to be affectionate about.

  17. 1) Certainly 2) Id rather die in a suicide attack rather than chasing after a girl whose family has a taste for my blood.
  18. farewell start button, had some great adventures with you!!
  19. My wahhabi considers making cakes on this occasion also as bidah. He says its against the traditions of islam and blah blah...but i guess their basic motive is that eid milad un nabi or any other event relating to the remembrance of a certain individual is wrong and such events should not be celebrated at all. Wahhabis ,hardliners and moderates alike, rarely spare an opputunity to degrade the prophet(pbuhp) and his family(a.s). Its in their blood or something...!
