How dare you not address him as Grand Ayatolla
Oh yeah there really isn't anything you can do about it. He has ended it and you have to do iddah for 45 days (I think).
Did he say anything to end it? Or did he just say he will not be seeing you for the rest of the 3 weeks? If he didn't say what needs to be said to end it go find him and demand he say the words to end it.

Sometimes as women we feel distanced from Allah during this time of the month because we are unable to pray, fast; and reading Quran earns us less reward. I stumbled across these hadeeths and I think they should put a smile on all your faces.
    (mustadrak 2/41)
The Prophet said, "A day of menstruation is better for you than the worship of one year in which you fast its days and pray its nights"
    وَ قَالَ ص مَنْ مَاتَتْ فِي حَيْضِهَا مَاتَتْ شَهِيدَةً
He (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) also said, "A woman who dies while in state of menses dies a martyr"
He (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) also said, "Whoever makes ghusl for menses or Janaba, Allah will give him for every drop (of water) a spring in Heaven and for every hair on her head and her body a castle in heaven; seventy times more than the breadth of the world. No eyes have seen this, nor ears heard of such, or has come to pass in one's imagination".
"And if she makes ghusl from menses, Allah will forgive her sins and no error is written for her until her next menses"

i was actually just thinking about it again, and really, you are right, it all depends of what your defenition of modesty and where you are, if modesty is simply being covered, why not 'bend the rules' to suit your own tastes, i mean lets face it, as far as bending the rules go, i would say that some mens abuse of mut'ah is shameless, i can't imagine it was supposed to be used the way some men the way it is, so people shouldn't be quick to judge others.(mind you, i doubt its the men who do 100 mut'ahs a year who would compain about a womans modesty-but there are some shameless hypocrites out there)
especially when it comes to those we don't know,we should just live and let live ^_^

It's harder If ur a revert so u have to go through these insane obstacles and build years of "rapport", far as born Muslims? The men are ready and the women are picky. In my opinion all these people who say they really wanna get married are not really wanting to get married and set their own self made obstacles in the way.

it is a nice story. Those times, no one was materialistic. Everyone has money on the mind. If you don't own anything or have any income, the family will not accept the marriage. Even for the guy, he will not have the most pleasant life with her. Because to girls, money bring security.
For myself. I do not care if he is rich, just as long as he can stand on his two feet.

I understand but did you know that our Prophet married the greatest woman that had all the most money in the world for just 100 $ ? if you really did want to get marry and fulfill the other half for muslims money wouldnt be the issue because you have your faith in Allah.
a Story that Sayyid Falli said :
A woman once came into the mosque where Our prophet was sitting with a few guys , and she told him i want to get married and the Prophet (swt) instead of shouting at her or telling her what is this disgrace ask her for what her name is , and then he asked the fellows sitting with him who would want to take this girl for marrige one guy said i would and the Prophet said what do you own ? He answered him back with nothing , but he said i know Sura al bakara , so the Prophet said the muhr would be teaching her sura al bakara and now i pronounce you husband and wife - SALO 3ALA MUHAMMAD WA ALY MUHAMAD :)
This is how i remeber the story ( Please forgive me if i said anything wrong or missing in the story ) :)

Because of our society and culture to be honest. Males are females are always separated from each other in Muslim countries so you hardly ever get the chance to meet a girl. When you do meet someone you simply can't go up to them, well you can but it might turn out very bad. For example, if a guy went up to a woman he will either get a bullet in his head by the dad or the female will look at him like "You.. pfft".
And like someone said, in today's age, people have different priorities than marriage and other factors effect the fact if you can get married or not.

    Dear Brother,
    Do You Offer Sallah(Nimaz/Prayer)?
Do You Know How Imam Hussain(as) Offered Sallah on the AfterNoon of Ashura?
Do You Know that Qamah Zani is Banned By Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenayi?
Have you ever wept for Imam Hussain(as)?
Have You ever read the Sermon of Hazrat Zainab(sa), which she gave in the market of Kufa.
Do you Know that our Blood is Najas(unpure) for us & for others, we cannot offer Sallah if we have blood stains on our Clothes?.

May Allah help All of us to understand the meaning of Qayame-Hussain(as)........Rather than do Qama Zani to show a sign of Bravery....
We have shown our Bravery in Iran, Lebanon, Yemen & will continiously be showing it when it is needed.....we have given our blood & will be giving if Islam Needs it..........

I think he is young, he should wait for some more year. 13 years old kid man. I mean i feel sad when I see pictures of these small kids who are not even 5 years old are forced to do qama by their parents. The kid is crying and shouting in pain but the parent is still doing it. The 13 year old is doing it by his own will but still, I think he should wait for couple of more years. For the time being he can do other types of mourning and mataam. Others might have a different opinion. But as far as the age group is concerned, i would say. No, wait for a few more years, because he is still in the development stage, i.e. his head, brain, emotional and religious strength etc.
    I agree with your comment.

I went to school to be an AODA counselor and drug addiction has got to be one of the worst things a person and family can go through. Personally, I think that drug treatment programs do not always meet the needs of the addict. I remember during my internships (one at an inpatient facility, the other outpatient) the quality of care for those who were inpatient was not always good. The counselors made them fill out boring worksheets and bad mouthed the patients if they were caught doing drugs somewhere. There are too many drug counselors and other professionals that do not truly understand what it means to be a drug addict and the patients suffer because of it. They think someone will miraculously recover and NEVER do drugs EVER again just because they completed their program. It's absurd. It's proven that a drug addict cannot be cured, just in recovery. You can be in recovery for 30 years and never touch alcohol or drugs but you are still a drug addict, just a recovering one. Also, a drug addict cannot be changed unless they want to change, which is why so many of them hate being in rehab. I have found in my personal experiences (I'm not an addict btw) that AA and other recovery oriented groups work very well. It gives addicts a chance to grow in the recovery process, talk with others who are suffering, but I think importantly it's something they can go to and not feel overwhelmed about someone wanting to change them. It gives them the chance to recover at their own pace, talk to others who are also in recovery and have a sponsor. Having a sponsor is HUGE. It's so important to have healthy people in your life who you can go out and do non-drug related activities with. Overall, a drug addiction is hard and ruthless and needs time and patience. Even the worst cases can be saved with time, patience, effort and love. A good read is Beautiful Boy by David Sheff.

what if your father and grandfather are dead? or what if they are not muslims and would only choose someone who would do haram things like theirselves like drinking wine or beer. And in some enviroments fathers prefer their daughters to date for about two years then get engage for another then marry and they go by how much money the man makes and nothing else. How can fathers and grandfathers like this be of any help?. Not all muslim women come from muslim families.
And if a woman from a non-muslim family chooses a wali from a muslim community who is to say that wali will not refuse to help her find a permanent husband until he can marry her first? Things like this do happen u know. The only options left for a new muslim woman is to get some muslim woman to help her find a husband or find a husband herself and in many cases the women she may know may not remember to help her due to their own unfortunate situations within their families.

If Allah (swt) takes action, literally action that shows people there is a God which is higher than humans, how will Allah (swt) seperate the good humans from the bad??
    1) Its Allahs (swt) generosity that he made the hell and heaven.... in a way you expect that imam hussein (as) and yazid (la) both should go to heaven togethere.... now this would be clear injustice..... when it comes to justice he is the best.....
    2) Now this would be clear injustice, so people who are bad from the beginning are bad till the day they day?? Ofcourse not. I have seen people who were once upon a time killers, but then they went to the path of Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì, and look how Allah (swt) was generous with these people and he even forgave them for their sins, he even made the lifes of these people more happy and he (swt) gave more blessings to these people......... Allah (swt) is so just that he wants to give every human a chance to prove themselves...... In a way your literally saying if the teacher knows i'm failing why does s/he let me take the exam.....
    3) People say all sort of things, but it doesnt mean its true. These people who have made these comments have they been to hell?? Or are these sayings from a hadith if it is please put it forward....
I am telling you there was a time, I felt like this but then I repented because I knew at that time the Satan was literally whispering in my ear negative things........... If you really want to find Allah (swt) start with his name and trust me whoever intends to find a Allah (swt) with a pure heart, Allah (swt) will make himself visible with the enviroment around us, the everyday blessings and .
There are times that a feel like i'm like a spinnign wheel, and if it isnt for Allah (swt) I would never be able to move on in life, not even take a single step...........
I hope tha you remove these negative thougths of your head and you start to live again by starting with Bismillahe rahmane rahim...

Salam-This reminded me of something this old woman told me one day( she is a hard core Christian lady) She was telling me how one day she was at someones house, and when she walked through the living room, 3 young women were watching a really violent movie on T.V.She says she literally saw 'evil' in the form of some black, wispy substance leaving the images from the T.V. and travelling directly into the eyes of the young women...She claims she observed the same thing while standing in line at a grocery store-the man in line infront of her was staring at one of those magazines that portrays almost naked women on the front cover. The message Is clear when you consider what and how these images effect us psychologically, mentally, and spiritually. Peace:)

    Salaam,
Sharing this here for those who listen to music, or are sitting on the fence about its permissibility. I myself alhamdullilah have stopped listening to it but sometimes hear it when I am outside and try not to since it gets in my head. It's definitely true the ahadeeths they say about it being a tool of Satan to mislead.
I had some other things in the dream I will not share here, but here is the relevant part: I was in the company of two esteemed people and there was a small little walkman/portable music player sitting there between us... Suddenly we notice black filmy things growing on the palm of one individual, and we're wondering what it is, we smear it, and it smears like black mold smears. So it was mold growing on the palm. And in the dream one of those two people said this is the effect of music. (As in it causes mold to grow) -- this is consistent with the hadeeth about music creates an algae on the heart.
I'm just posting this in case others find it helpful/to do a bit of naseehah.
    Ma'asalam

One of the most common factors for errors when thinking about the previous worlds (before this creation), the coming worlds (purgatory and day of judgment) is that people always forget that the rules don't apply across the board. We must keep in mind that the worlds coming or the worlds past are completely different in nature and therefore everything that we know of here is not applicable there. This shows the true importance for us believers to learn about the day of judgment and purgatory because that's where we're heading next. Unfortunately, most of us have no idea what lies ahead.
That being said, there is no way for anyone to talk about the specifics of the experiences of the day of judgment or other worlds to us because we are not able to think about things that we have no relations to. If someone is blind and you try to explain to them what the color red is, there is no way for you to do that. This is the reason that we see metaphors of delicious foods or gardens or whatever else. This does not mean that will be the reality, it only signifies the level of comfort and enjoyment, and perhaps some deeper meanings which can be no understood upon further studies.
A similar idea is presented by Sayyid Tabataba'i in Almizan where he says that things in the Quran such as "Alqalam" which means the pen, although it literally refers to something that we know physically and we can comprehend, are actually references to much deeper meanings and the pen is simply a signal.
