As of now this is my favourite:

I'm gonna hijack your thread for a second( :P ), and ask if anyone has any good Farsi ones? If I don't understand the language it doesn't affect me as much..

Yep. In my family we've all kinda been brought up as siblings, so wearing the hijab in front of them was weird at first, cause its like 'EW, I don't see them romantically and vice versa' but Allah (swt) knows best. If it helps, everyone gets used to it after a while.

How pathetic. We need to learn to live our own lives and stop obsessing over certain members in our community. When we do that we lose the plot of what is really important. I frankly don't care about this situation but in general we always find people saying things which we may disagree with. Get over it. Instead of saying 'this man should no longer be invited to your centers to speak. for too long have you tolerated his nonsense. he goes on abtv!' you can go do something constructive like doing your own research before accusing others and stating that they should no longer be allowed to speak in centres. How absurd. Nothing wrong with criticism but belittling a known member of our community on an online forum is seriously not cool. You could have made a thread without mentioning any names. But no you decide to be a troll which is obviously expected. I thought we were rid of you. Scholars have different interpretations of what Shia Islam is, Shiism has been distorted somewhat throughout the centuries so there's no such as pure Shiism hence it's obvious that we may not see eye to eye on all matters. The only time we will have the absolute truth is when Imam Mahdi (aj) rules so I suggest everyone gets over themselves and focus on their own deeds. I'm almost glad that I haven't been on shiachat for a few days.

We will have to agree to disagree on that point, yes your body needs salt but you get all the salt you need in your food already, I was referring to adding extra salt to your food, you can make the same argument for having an unhealthy diet generally. Eating irresponsibly is just as bad as smoking for your health long term, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and even cancers are all related to diet. The quote you have from Ayatollah Sistani's website seems to be concerned with long term effects on health too, so it would be interesting what advice would be given with regards to diet.
In any case, for what its worth, I think smoking is a terrible habit which I wouldn't encourage or even condone.

Seriously.. People need to start thinking for themselves just a bit.
If you feel like films impact you negatively as they have various haram things, then avoid them. If you think that they don't, and have postive effects on you, then watch them. Or moderate what you watch. There isn't a blanket statement for everyone. :donno:

Always baffles me as to why guys on this site seem to be so interested in what women choose to put on their face, but anyway. The general rule I go with, is that if it's an 'addition' to your natural face/features and it stands out then it is better to avoid it. For example, wearing blue eyeshadow, no one has blue upper eyelids; but foundation would be fine asmatches your skin tone, and most people wouldn't realise that you are wearing it anyway.

The OP is asking for a verdict, either haram or halal. I'm saying that there is no such ruling, and it depends largely on the individual, their judgement and the film in question. 'Film' is a very broad term and encompasses many genres. 'These movies', I wasn't talking about particular films, but just generally. Also, I have watched many films without fornication/drinking/clubbing, or anything else haram.
Not for me personally. I enjoy films because they allow me to view another life and different viewpoints while not actually having to experience it myself as well as being an escape of sorts. I don't and have never felt that I have wanted to do those things or that I have become more comfortable with another way of life to substitute it for my own- for example: the idea of losing my sanity to alcohol or drugs still scares me, even though I've seen many fictional characters partaking in such activities. A film can show great truths, but that doesn't make it my personal reality.

Good God... You know, I had this maid who seemed to know all the crooks and monsters in the world. By her accounts, in her neighbourhood there were cases of necrophilia, incest, pedophilia, rape etc every minute. She came with a new story every day, each more Jerry Springer material than the previous, until we had to plead with her to spare us. Somehow, her tales were sympathetic towards women, as in they were the wronged amidst hordes of testosterone-high Neanderthals. Remembering her stories, and now reading yours, makes me again wonder how much individual perceptions and world views affect our reporting.
Btw, I don't think women are all angels. I'm one myself, and have seen a fair number of twisted ones. However, I've also seen good-looking guys, been out with the husband, cousins etc, and even when the female group was away from them, ie they were just a bunch of seemingly available meat, we didn't see throngs of rabid females clawing onto them. There might be an occasional girl trying to come on to someone, but it would be rare enough for us to remember and laugh over it. May be you just have animal magnetism. You're obviously against materialistic gains, or I'd have suggested you start selling off pieces off yourself, and make a fortune

Hey OP, words of advice, you are doing it wrong.
There are guys and girls who are really possessive, they don't want their partner to have a Facebook picture, or a Facebook account, or they don't want their partnet to ever smile, say Salam, and talk to the other gender at all costs, even at work.
Guys with this much insecurity will usually be happy if they get a full on Hijabi :Hijabi: wife. Not those 'fly/sociable/friendly Hijabis', I am talking about the 'awkward in mixed settings Hijabis'.
You my friend need the type of a girl I described, since a friendly, sociable girl will always give you attitude for limiting her freedom, be it posting pictures on Facebook, talking to the opposite gender and so on.
Same applies for girls who go mental if their partner goes on Facebooks, talk to the other gender and all.
To be fair, if the guy/girl is talking (Facebook/Phone/Texts etc) lots and lots to one friend of the opposite gender, hugging/kissing, or flirting with the opposite gender, then it's wrong of course.
But a fiance/girlfriend maintaining casual friendships is fine, and one shouldn't be jealous/insecure.

I couldn't help but compare your country to my country of origin upon reading the OP. Impossible to live in it. Men stare at women like hungry vultures waiting to swoop at prey mercilessly. Walking on the street is not an option. Siting in a car and being driven around town sucks because people look into your car to stare. If you have the misfortune of going to the beach then you become the centre of attraction for some reason. Shopping centres are a no no so its better to happily wear clothes chosen by family members. Stepping outside the house should involve a niqab and massive veil. When my 12 year old cousin visited us from the UK her first comment was that people stare. She was so uncomfortable the entire visit and would just sit at home all the time. Hell, even women stare. Especially the niqabi ones. Their eyes bulge out and look like they will pop out of their sockets. And old men, like really old men, some of who sport those orange beards stare rape you.
Oh right, you're from Pakistan as well.. I never realised men faced this dilemma tbh. We are absolutely plagued by a Tarney ki bimari. I didn't mean to rant in your thread, but I did, because I got angry when I realised you're a man from Pakistan. A woman's perspective should also be shared because we have it worse than you. Taru Mard hazrat need to lower their gaze..
