  1. This is seriously depressing-- our own Shia are comfortable dissing our Imams and Prophet within a religious forum dedicated to them. To the poster of the topic-- thanks for sharing your music with us. You must be SO refined and classical! Not only do you commit this sin in private but you're encouraging other Shias to do it as well, in public. Imam ‘Ali ar-Riďa (a.s.): “And to be engrossed in musical instruments is also a Greater Sin.” The Sixth Imam (a.s.) has also stated, “The playing of violin promotes the growth of hypocrisy in the heart like water assists the growth of vegetation (algae).” Haven't we been taught that actively watching a sin being committed and not stopping it means we are doing it ourselves? Imam (a.s.) also says, “Desist from listening to music and songs attentively.” Hazrat Imam ‘Ali ar-Riďa (a.s.) has said, “To listen to a musical instrument is one of the Greater Sins.” These hadith should be enough for us to quit cold turkey. Giving music up is difficult but it's a matter of choosing between your faith or your sins. Which do you choose? Another last thought to ponder- The 14 infallibles were undoubtedly the classiest people ever to live. Would they ever be caught actively listening to music or playing it? Don't do anything they wouldn't do.
  2. [1:7] The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors. Not (the path) of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray. Practicing this has actually helped me break off ties with a group of athiests who were trying to promote their views, political and theological to me. I did research and another word for this is aloofness which is basically acting disinterested and not replying as much to the ppl we are disassociating ourselves from. The religion is perfect, our flaws stop us from seeing it.
  3. Thank you. Any tips on practicing this though?
  4. Assalamu Alaykum, Should we practice Tabarra around Sunni people who don't know about/care about the 14 Masoomeen? Around devout Christians and Jews? Tips for practicing Tabarra? Thank You.
  5. If you don't kill a fish while saying the prayer, is it halal?
  6. subhanallah. were you guys doing anything to inform the bystanders about what was going on?
  7. "Chicago gang violence" Yes, people are caught in the crossfire but you don't understand my point. We're talking about anti muslim violence, and being caught in a crossfire at random is not anti muslim it's just inhumane. What are you trying to point out to me? Read the title of this forum then comment.
  8. The word of interest is gangmembers. Unless you're part of a gang or are prone to start conflicts, you won't be victim of violence in the United States (there's always the risk of random spontaneous things though, but those can be rare.) The key to understanding this is while the United States isn't a perfect place to live, they have horrible foreign policy, and they are sanctioning Iran- I'm not endorsing it but I'm trying to get everyone to understand that we shouldn't victimize ourselves and make anti-muslim violence in the USA a problem when we would face even more problems living in "muslim" countries.
  9. Thank you! But is eating najis food wrong?
  10. My Sunni friends were at an amusement park and were in a very long line- well over an hour wait- they did namaz in line! People stayed behind them, even though there was a gap and no people in front of my friends, and people were respectful! This was in the American South!
  11. Asalamoalaykum, At my school a few weeks ago I bought french fries to eat at lunch. The people serving the fries were picking up fried chicken from one pot and putting it in a plate, then picking up french fries with the same gloves and putting it in a different plate. Are the fries haram or halal? The fries and chicken never touched but I'm scared I ate something haram. If you eat something haram your duas are not accepted for 40 days! Help me!!!!
