(salam) Apart from tickets, all expenses are paid for. It is not a summer course, It is a hawzah. At this moment in time, yes, they wont get admission. But, again, if there are enough single sisters interested we may start a programme for them. Apply normally by sending your CV to: info@zahratrust.com with the subject line: HAWZA APPLICATION - WITH YOUR NAME (in all capital letters). If you demonstrate exceptional qualities/under special circumstances we may make an exception. Minimum, one year. Obviously we prefer for students to stay longer. For married couples we can help, but we would not cover all expenses.

    Study Hawza In Najaf, Iraq

(salam) The experiences of Br. Komeil Tanko, who joined the Hawza last year: My experience so far as a student here in najaf has been full of emotion and learning experience; after a couple of days it becomes clear to whoever stays here why the city is known to be the city of Knowledge. Hawza students are everywhere, teachers are everywhere, there are books available for virtually any subject you could possibly think of: No doubt this is the blessing of the prince of believer. We hear from teachers that even the wind is a source of knowledge in this country. From the social point of view, people are very welcoming and have great respects for Hawza students, in particular those coming from far away to study Islam as taught by the Ahl-Ul-Bayt. Because of the importance of the city as a “city of knowledge” you will hardly find any unsocial behaviour in the street, people observe a traditional lifestyle which will truly amaze any westerner. This seems to be restricted to the area around the haram (shrine of the Imam), because we are strongly advise by all not to venture outside of that boundary as lifestyles seem to differ a lot. Life with other Hawza students in the dormitory is a bit like life in the campus for those of you who have experienced it before; we have set of rules and guidelines to observe. Our mentor and teacher is always available for any matter we want to discuss so overall everything is very good. Of course there are ups and downs due to cultural differences as students come from different parts of the world, and I believe this is part of the whole study system and it helps whoever wants to take on the challenge of being a community leader to strengthen (or build): the akhlaq, patience for the greater cause, conflict resolution skills...and many more. Financially, the major expenditures or living costs are catered by the Hawza itself, so you won't need to worry about pretty much anything. Basics amenities in the house is also looked after by the Hawza, so all you need to do is to purchase the items and log it in the document. All students also receive a monthly allocation for their meals and of course students can have money send to them from abroad for any extra personal expenses. The first difficultly one may face here is the language barrier, the only languages here spoken by most shopkeepers or in fact people outside is Arabic and occasionally the Persian language. So you it is recommended to have as much background in the language as possible before coming, even If it means only knowing names of item: every little helps!!! The other challenge that could be face here is the culture difference, najaf is a very traditional city and there are certain actions that just cannot be done in the street. On top of that, students have to follow an extra set of rules and we always have to observe our behaviour and make sure we portray the best of pictures; not just to the outsiders but mainly to ingrain it in ourselves. A strict dressing code is to be observed at all times by all students. The final point I would like to mention in this section is the importance of cautiousness at all times in the street: we are not yet in paradise just by the gate. The prince of believer will most definitely look after his guests students but we are advised to remain alert with everyone in the street, this may at times include fellow Hawza students. We are all here to perfect our character, some have succeeded, some are on the verge, but others have not or may not be that interesting in self-perfection. In any case, it is vital to have from now (and continuously) a very good and strong intention in such a great cause with the intention of: Only seeking nearness to Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì.
