313_Waiter reacted to Eddie Mecca in Isa (as) Nafs is different from Allah ((سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى))
Aren't we all partly divine? Didn't Allah breathe His divine breath into each and every single one of us when Adam was created? I thought all three Abrahamic religions were more-or-less agreed on this

313_Waiter got a reaction from Eddie Mecca in What's The Issue With There Being A God But No Religion?
God is closer to us than our jugular vein (50:16).
Of course, He is transcendent, but He is also immanent - “wherever you look there is the Face of God” (2:115).
God‘s infinite mercy encompasses ALL things (7:156).
In 2:31, Adam is taught the Divine Names, making him worthy of the angels bowing down to him (2:34). Ultimately though, it is Allah (azwj) alone we bow to . All praise is his (1:1).
Wsalam

313_Waiter reacted to Eddie Mecca in What, in your belief, is the nature of God?
God is absolutely transcendent and distant and unmoved and remote...for example, He's The Eternal, The Absolute...Allah is above His Throne and above and beyond all His creation...but Muslims are taught that He's simultaneously, "near", "aware", "cognitive", "intelligent", "involved" etc....Also, He's "kind", "caring", "loving", "merciful", "beneficent", "compassionate", "forgiving" etc....He's Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Omnibenevolent...He's absolutely equitable and fair...He can be "wrathful" and "angry" and "angered"...the attributes used to describe Him are sometimes juxtaposed in the Qurʾān...some are general and some are specific...some are literal and others are meant to be descriptive...they're often side-by-side and complementing one another...Muslims realize that human language is being used, and no matter how lofty or refined, it can never capture the true essence...the various descriptions are estimates...the Most High cannot be truly captured and recounted...but revelation attempts to paint a portrait or snap a panoramic photograph of the unimaginable and unfathomable...descriptions found in revelation are an approximation of the divine...this is more-or-less the understanding of every traditional Muslim...the Salafi interpretation is much more anthropomorphic and literal..."He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed. He is the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise." Chapter 59, Verses 22-24

Salaam,
If you want to watch some videos on the subject matter, I refer you to Dr. Sheikh Farrokh Sekaleshfars you tube page. There are also videos by Khalil Jaffer on you tube.
I will tell you that dr sekaleshfar is a very special speaker. You will not find someone else like him out there that speaks at the level he speaks at and explains in detail the different concepts and the Arabic grammar and the irfani side of the religion, not as far as English speakers go. That's just the boat that all of us converts/reverts are in. And since the majority of us cannot read Farsi or arabic, books by the great urafa/irfan scholars like Ayatollah Bahjat(رضي الله عنه) Ayatollah Hassan Hasanzadeh Amoli(رضي الله عنه), Ayatollah jawadi Amoli, Ayatollah Khomeini and others are all in farsi or arabic so otherwise unavailable to us as they're not translated into English yet, but the good thing about Dr sekaleshfar is that he teaches directly from their books so while you and I can't just order one of these books online and read it ourselves, he teaches from them, so that's why I highly recommend if you want to learn this subject, to refer to him and his lectures. Also you can contact him at his email that he's available to answer any questions at: fbsekaleshfar@gmail.com
He knows the English speaking portion of the ummah is thirsty for this type of knowledge So He makes himself available for questions.
I highly recommend the books written by Ayatollah Khomeini because his teachings are so deep.
As far as videos go, If you go to Dr sekaleshfars YouTube channel, you will find that he has a series in 13 parts on Ayatollah khomein's Adabus Salaat. The series actually goes up to 18 parts but for some reason it's very hard to find the remaining five. You would do good with those first 13 though.
To make it a little easier for you, here are some of the books with hot links to online pdf sources if you want to go that route.
Kernel of the Kernel (Lubb al-Lubab) by Allama Muhammad Husayn Tabatabai7.
An Introduction to Irfan by Ayatullah Murtadha Mutahhari2.

If you were referring to schools you can attend online, I am unaware of any school that you can just sign up for right now without having any Islamic schooling prior and without speaking at least Farsi and having some Arabic behind you because irfan is a subject that gets taught at the very minimum 10 years into your schooling at a hawzah, so if you don't plan on going to any type of formal school and working at it for many many years, you're going to have to self teach until you're able to maybe find somebody that can kind of guide you but that would come much later because in islam, you're very first "mentor" is mastering the Shahria to where you don't sin and stay in a purified state. Of course, you can read all these books and do your best to implement those teachings into your life, and that'll take a good while.
So start with these books and some videos and give yourself some time and move slowly, making sure to actually ingrain these teachings in your soul and in the framework of your mind and life.
I've been at this for like 10 years because I didn't even know there was a spiritual side to islam, that's how much it's missing from what we usually experience at a masjid. This is a complaint a lot of people have, that a lot of the masjids don't go deep enough into the spirituality of the religion and instead continuously talk about the same stuff over and over or talk about jurisprudential points, which all the stuff has a place, but you can't ignore the spiritual aspect of our religion because that is the core of what our religion is about---our soul.
That's why I found the study of the inner dimensions of the religion to be so important. In fact, I almost walked away from the religion one day 4 years in....I was sitting there at the Masjud for Friday prayer one day listening to the content of the speech and I was thinking, is this ALL this religion is about is don't do this, do that, don't do this, don't do that?? I have enough rules I follow on a day-to-day basis already without all these extra rules.. right after I had that thought, it was the month of ramadan, and a sister who lived not far from the mosque came up to me and said would you like to stay in my place for the month of Ramadan because I'm going to Lebanon for the whole month, and I said sure! Because I live very far from the mosque and I wanted to be there every evening to have iftar, so I drove up to the city and started staying in her place, and then that very same night, I googled something on the internet, I don't remember what it was and then all of a sudden a video of sheikh sekaleshfar popped up and I was like, who's this guy?? Cuz I was familiar with who all the famous speakers were that travel around and speak at all the masjids like Hasanain Rajabali, Amin Rastani and others, but I didn't know who THIS sheikh was, so I started his video and within 5 minutes I said out loud, THIS IS IT! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR! WHY HAS IT TAKEN 4 YEARS FOR ME TO FIND THIS?!?
(Mind you, this was after going to the masjid regularly for every program they had and really trying to integrate myself into the community so I was there for everything and I was never exposed to the spiritual side of the religion.. Im just still amazed at how that's even possible...)
So anyway, if that's what you're looking for, start with these books and with this sheikhs lectures.
Salaam

313_Waiter reacted to Eddie Mecca in Trump says US will take 'take over' Gaza: 'We'll own it'
Muslims didn't exist in 1492?
It's not based on my whims...it's based on historical fact...you're the one encouraging a massacre...I'm arguing many historical atrocities could have been averted had the Muslims acted swiftly and decisively...but the Safavids and Ottomans were too busy fighting each other like idiots...there are some End Times narrations that mention the possibility of many doomsday prophecies being averted if the Muslims act in a proactive manner and act timely...the time to act was 500 - 1,000 years ago...many of these problems go back to the time of the First Crusade in 1095...now we're hurrying and scrambling and trying to cram for the test the night before the exam...most, if not all, End Times prophecies will be fulfilled now

313_Waiter reacted to Eddie Mecca in Why did Assad fall so easily?
It's a delaying tactic and a derailing strategy..."after we fight Hezbollah then we'll fight the Zionists"..."after we challenge Iran then we'll repel the American presence from the region"...after we accomplish a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, etc. etc. (i.e. never-ending objectives) then we'll take on NATO...and that day will never come...they'll keep making empty promises and dangling that silver carrot before the donkey (i.e. clueless masses)...they're filibustering and waiting for the clock to run out of time...the sun will exhaust itself and burn out by the time they reach the Americans

313_Waiter reacted to SO SOLID SHIA in How to connect with Shia women for marriage as a young man?
I think maybe you are relying on marriage or the company of a female to make you happy, so it seems. My advice would be to work on yourself. Work on a skill, create things (not children) and use your skills to build a business or something constructive. The more you work on yourself, the more you will realise that the happiness you are craving lies within you. Of course you will get married one day, but it doesn't have to be now. Go to the gym, smell nice, dress nicely, carry yourself confidently, strive to become wealthy but always being humble. All that marriage stuff follows you after...all the aunties in your community will find out who you are and will all want you for their daughters. Right now you have to understand that no aunty circle is discussing you for their daughter, they want Javed the Accountant or Mrs Rahmans son who is a heart surgeon....do you see where this is going my young G ? WORK on yourself, at times the journey will be hard, the struggles will be real, the challenges that will be presented to you will be difficult but you will overcome them and be a wonderful man. PEACE

313_Waiter reacted to AbdusSibtayn in Would an Iraqi do Mutah with a male convert?
Don't ever randomly walk up to a woman in Iraq and ask for mut'ah. It is considered very insulting and degrading, and people everywhere are especially distrustful of foreigners.
Be especially careful around girls from Bedouin tribes- their families will skin you alive and make a doormat out of your hide if they sense that you have some evil design on their daughters.
Ziyarah should be, first and foremost, a spiritual experience. Don't chase sex during a pilgrimage. Don't go looking for trouble. There's a time, place and manner for everything.

313_Waiter reacted to Eddie Mecca in Has the Axis of resistance failed
I look in his eyes and I see sincerity...I believe he's committed to either death/martyrdom or making extremely significant changes in Pakistan...the measure of a man can be determined by his actions, his mission statement and the quality of his enemies...Imran Khan has all the "right" enemies...his ideas are progressive...he's in favor of renewable energy...decades of charitable activities and events that have raised millions for the needy and destitute (e.g. he singlehandedly raised $25 million worldwide for Pakistan's first cancer hospital)...he's an opponent of US-led "war on terror"...he was a detractor of the Iraq War (2003)...he criticized the US drone campaign in Pakistan...he's a strong proponent of domestic anti-corruption reforms...before being overthrown he was building ties with Vladimir Putin (Russian Ambassador to Pakistan...Danila Ganich...stated that Khan's visit and friendly overtures to Moscow might have been one of the main factors contributing to his removal from power)...like Iran, he congratulated the new Taliban for ousting the Americans...like Tehran, he has a love-hate relationship with the Taliban...they (Pakistani Taliban) threatened to kill him in 2012...a few months later, they (Pakistani Taliban) offered him protection and unyielding commitment when he spoke out courageously against US targeting of Taliban leadership through drone strikes (note: similar to Israeli targeting of Hezbollah top commanders in Lebanon through bombing raids back in September)...in 2014, when the Pakistani Taliban announced "armed struggle" against Ismailis and denounced them as non-Muslims...Khan countered by releasing a statement describing "forced conversions as un-Islamic."...Khan's foreign policy staunchly aligns with Tehran's on major regional issues..."One of the more striking elements of Imran Khan's message on foreign policy is his overtly pro-Iran statements...it's been quite some time since a top Pakistani leader has expressed such sympathies to Iran."...he's trying to move Pakistan away from the Anglo-Saudi orbit..."Throughout Khan’s tenure since 2018, Pakistan’s relations with the United States, Europe and the Arab Sunni Gulf states were far from cordial. Instead, on some occasions, Islamabad’s bilateral ties with its traditional and time-tested allies reached the lowest depths."

313_Waiter reacted to Eddie Mecca in Syrian civil war is reignited.
Sufyani rule in Syria is described as a caliphate...not a monarchy, not a democracy etc. but a caliphate rule...the specific term caliphate is used in ahadith...Syria hasn't been governed by a caliphate since Ottoman dissolvement in 1924...something to consider

313_Waiter reacted to PureExistence1 in Sufism corrupted shi'sm?
Salaam, sorry, i dont know who this author is but what i do know is Reality/Pure Existence/Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) has been around a LOT longer, since pre eternity, so the concept of wahdatul wujud is not something that "came into shiaism" from anyone-it has always been and always will be the Reality of which creation manifests from. (The Necessary Existent)
The author quoted simply doesnt understand things. There were things Aristotle, Plato, Socrates etc. said that are true, and just because the same truth is in islam and shiaism doesnt mean one came from the other.
All schools of sufism trace their lineages back to Imam Ali(عليه السلام) except one (dont remember who they are) and Imam Ali(عليه السلام) learned islam and spirituality at rhe foot of the Prophet (SAWS) and Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) so sufism didnt come out of Ismaili Shiaism. It all came from the Prophet(Saws) to Imam Ali(عليه السلام) then to his descendents and was disseminated through Imam Jaffar Sadiq(عليه السلام) who then taught his students, some of who went off to form the 4 Sunni Madhabs, but yea, i dont know how this author arrives at the conclusion hes arrived at...he should reach out to the hawzahs in Qom and ask someone there before writing books about something that even lay people know is incorrect:/
Something that i probably SHOULD mention is that sufism is not irfan although sufism has some aspects that are the same as irfan, because again, Truth is Truth.
