  1. Asalam o alaikum I am from Lahore, Pakistan. Have you heard of "Valima" dinner given in honor of people returning from Hajj? is it Mustahib? is this custom prevalent in Pakistan only? Is it given by the people returning from Hajj themselves? or is it the friends and family of the returning "Hajjis" who host the feast? Walaikum Asalam
  2. Please call the relevant news agency in your country and try to get them to cover the sit in at Quetta.
  3. Asalam o alaikum, I dont know of any but I would be interested in knowing if there are some available. I am trying to find some sort of Azan (adhan) application and possibly some sort of Kaaba direction finder also that could work with the built-in GPS of my BB phone. Thanks Khudahafiz
  4. AOA I guess you would also need to know which city of Bangladesh is ur friend going to cause only after then would anyone be able to give u addresses for the Shia Centers available in that city. A Shia center which is more than 2-3 hour drive from ur friends place of temp residence may not be very useful for her. Walaikum Asalam
  5. Asalam o alaikum, this Noha is extremely touching and listening to it makes me picture all events of Kerbala everytime. I have listened to it so many times and each time I listen to, I cant help but cry and cry and cry. Ya Allah, please let me be the kind of Shia that would make Fatima Zahra A.S. happy with me and that she would know that the sacrifice of her beloved son Imam Hussain A.S. didnt go unnoticed be myself and so many of my brothers and sisters. That we strive everyday to follow the life style of our Imams which was preserved and conveyed to us thru the ultimate sacrifice of the family of prophet Muhammad PBUH. Allhuma Salli Ala Muhammadin Wale Muhammad Wajjil Farajahm
  6. Asalam o alaikum May Allah bless you and yours. Your dedication and sincerity to Allah and your love for Ahlul Bayt is very inspiring. I pray that love continues to grow. Allahuma Salli Ala Muhammadin Wale Muhammad Wajjil Farajahm Khudahafiz
  7. Walaikum Asalam Sister, Do you know if your revert friend has easy access to internet? Cause if she does then I would say the best and most economical way to gain Islamic knowledge would be study from the wealth of free Islamic books available on various Shia websites e.g http://www.al-islam.org/ . Other Shia websites are also very helpful but I feel like Al-Islam.org is specially helpful for reverts. I personally dont know of any Shia Islamic center in Canada and/or US that can send her free Islamic books. But what you could do though is that you could go on google and search for Shia Islamic centers within a ~10 mile radius of where she lives and provide her those addresses and/or maybe drive her over there urself if u live close to her. You could also just call up the Islamic centers near to her and explain to them about ur revert friend's desire to learn more about Islam and I am sure they will want to help. Most Islamic centers have a decent collection of religious books on site that maybe they could let her borrow. Anyhow, may Allah bless you for helping a friend learn more about Islam. Allahuma Salli Ala Muhammadin Wale Muhammad Wajji; Farajahm. Khudahafiz
  8. (bismillah) (salam) oh sister... thats some good stuff you wrote. If only all Pakistanis thought like that.... Keep it up sister. Allahuma Salli Ala Muhammadin Wale Muhammad Wajjil Faraja (wasalam)
  9. (bismillah) (salam) The marriage is the "Nikah", and once a Nikah has been performed then the man and woman become husband and wife and they both should behave and act according to the Islamic guidelines for married couples. The wedding function itself is just a formality or maybe a cultural innovation. The engagement holds no significance for the man and woman and they should observe hijab and interact with other like they would with any other non-mahram. But, I am not the best person to ask cause I dont know all of the Islamic rules and guildelines that would apply in a sitatution like this. So I think you may better off asking an Alim. Take care Allhuma Salli Ala Muhammadin Wale Muhammad Wajjil Faraja (wasalam)
  10. (bismillah) (salam) Thanks bro for sharing that with us. Though quite random and dont know how it applies to our discussion......lol... I guess I should say .... "Yes I am, sure I am"...lol (wasalam)
  11. (bismillah) (salam) Truth be told, someone who claims to be a Shia Muslim and a lover of Ahlul Bayt and yet deems "Halal" boring, is not really a Shia is he! Uneventful!!?? Two people are about to secure half their deen, and entering into one of the most sacred relationships which will most probably change both of their lives for all times to come...... and you are saying some people will find such a sacred occassion Boring! Some really twisted sort of imposter Shias such people would be... no? I know such a fine Shia like urself would never think so low, but I only wonder who these low-life Shias are, who would find "Halal" marriages boring. Islam teaches us to submit ourselves to the will of Allah and to always act in Halal ways, not because doing "halal" will rock our worlds! but because doing halal is mandatory. Its those imposter Shias and the deviant Pakistani culture that has infiltrated and contaminated the present state of Shia faith in Pakistan. May Allah show us all the righteous path and give will us the will and courage to follow that path. Allahuma Salli Ala Muhammadin Wale Muhammad Wajjil Faraja :yaali: Ya Ali A.S. Khudahafiz
  12. (bismillah) (salam) Can someone please help me find a Shia month-wise Calendar that lists all of the occassions/dates (e.g. Birthdays/shahadat of Imams A.S. etc). I used to use this calendar up till now ( www.hussainiat.com/calendar/calendar.asp ) but I just came to realize that this calendar does not include all the important dates. So while some were celebrating the Birthday of Imam Ali A.S. which is on the 13th of Rajab, they forgot to realize that just 2 days following the birthday of Imam Ali A.S. was the Shahadat of Bibi Zainab A.S. on the 15th of Rajab. The shia Calendar on Hussainiat.com mentions the birthday of Imam Ali A.S. but doesnt mention anything about the Shahadat of Bibi Zainab A.S. Actually SC has a month-wise Calendar also on its homepage, but its funny cause it on mentions the birthdays of SC members. Maybe SC management can put up another month-wise calendar, only this calendar should be an Islamic calendar. Or maybe some other member would be kind enough to make one and share it with the rest of us. Thanks Allahuma Salli Ala Muhammadin Wale Muhammad Wajjil Faraja (wasalam)
  13. (bismillah) (salam) + 1 Wow. You and I think so much alike. Any unmarried Shia man or woman shouldnt want to get married in an unIslamic way. great post ! :yaali: Allahuma Salli Ala Muhammadin Wale Muhammad Wajjil Faraja (wasalam)
  14. (bismillah) (salam) this is sooo soo funy....lol... so funny.... what is which.... lol... (wasalam) oh man, this is funnny.....lol.... Phir bhi dil hai Pakistani....lol
  15. (bismillah) (salam) I am sorry to hear about that. Inshallah things will get better. I dont think there is anything helpful that I can say you to rightnow or anything that others havnt already said before. However what I will do is to pray for you that may Allah guide you to the right path and may the righteous path become clearer for you. Alluma Salli Ala Muhammadin Wale Muhammad Wajjil Faraja (wasalam)
