La fata illa Ali got a reaction from -Enlightened in Late Start In Schools Improve Grades - I Knew It!
    check this out: http://www.canada.com/Grades+improve+classes+start+later+study+finds/5262224/story.html
A late start is a head start when it comes to first-period classes, according to a new study of more than 6,100 students over four consecutive school years.
Building on a decade of sleep research, the findings tread new ground in directly linking start times with academic performance. The cause-and-effect was so powerful, in fact, that delaying a student's first class by just 50 minutes resulted in achievement improvements "equivalent to raising teacher quality by one standard deviation" — which is a common way of measuring teachers' classroom performance.
Investigators conclude that early-morning start times in high school — and even the first year of college — come at the cost of performance.
"The most interesting finding was that the effect lingered throughout the day," says study co-author Teny Maghakian, an economist at the University of California, Davis.
"It's not just that you do poorly in your first-period class then wake up and do well in the rest of your classes; having an early-morning class negatively affects your performance throughout the day."
Though previous studies have made similar inferences, Maghakian notes that those experiments tended to identify correlation instead of cause. That is, "the effect of starting early was bogged down with a lot of other things happening at the same time."
Her team's study, published in the August issue of the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, controls for potentially confounding factors — grading structure, class selection and teachers, for example — to isolate the "causal effect" of start times on achievement. (Although they draw data from students in their first semester of college, Maghakian says the results are applicable to high school populations because they share the same biological sleep patterns).
The authors conclude that "pushing back the time at which the school day starts would likely result in significant achievement gains for adolescents."
But they recognize that doing so is no easy task.
"If start times are later, then end times are later, which means students have less time for after-school activities, they can't get sports in, they can't work, they can't babysit. And some teachers don't want to work that late," says Maghakian. "So there's lots of hesitation. People always feel comfortable with the status quo."
The effect of start times on achievement is related to teenagers' circadian rhythm, or biological clock.
During adolescence, sleep researchers find melatonin production doesn't begin until roughly 11 p.m. (explaining why teens are such night owls), and continues in peak production until about 7 a.m. By contrast, adult melatonin levels peak at 4 a.m., the implication of which is that waking up a teenager at 7 a.m. is roughly the equivalent of waking an adult at 4 a.m.
In response to these findings — well-established for roughly a decade now — a small but growing number of Canadian schools are attempting to match students' biological and educational timetables.
At Toronto's Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute, for example, a move in September 2009 from a 9 a.m. to a 10 a.m. start time has resulted in lower absenteeism, improved grades on most (but not all) fronts, and students having 30 minutes more sleep each night, on average, than those in a control group.
Trustee Cathy Dandy says any initial concerns were quelled when people realized the change wasn't about creating a new pattern for students but responding to an existing one — something she says most school districts remain hesitant to do.
"Despite paying a lot of lip service to wanting to meet the needs of children, it's very inconvenient for us when we have to change our system significantly to do so," says Dandy. "I'm optimistic this pilot will help change that."

The most important reason is simply because Allah (aj) ordered us to so it in the quran and for me, Allah (aj) hukm is enough of a reason.
    Then all the other reasons.

La fata illa Ali got a reaction from Murtada in Mustahhab To Break Your Fast After Praying
Thanks Yasoob, this is very interesting.
Now I have some questions for you.
I am in the habit of praying Isha in its fadheelat time which is approx 1 hour and 15 minutes after salatul Maghrib.
How are we so sure that the Imam meant both Maghrib and Isha???
I know, it probably means maghrib and isha thereafter iftaar and not just after maghrib but I cant really see how it comes to the conclusion that both salatul Maghrib and ishaa be prayed.
The following excerpt makes one inclined to think both Maghrib and ishaa "... That you pray while you are fasting and that, your salat, be written and so sealed by the fast is more beloved to me."
This is what makes it strongly indicative that combining maghrib and isha in this instance and then iftar is better then praying Ishaa in its fadheelat time.
However, one could reasonably argue that Imam (as) is only referring to Maghrib only???
Of course, shia are no stranger to combining salat so its obviously not an issue at all.
So I guess thats my question:
In Shahr Ramadhan, is it better to combine maghrib and isha while still fasting and then break the fast compared to praying maghrib, breaking the fast, and praying ishaa at its fadheelat time???

I would run around Heaven for the first hundered years screaming my head off with my hands waving in the air saying:
" OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! I ACTUALLY GOT IN!!!! WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"
And then after, lets face it, I would intimately acqauint myself with the Hour al Ain...
And then I would sit down at the grandest dining table ever seen and eat those promised fruits and some bird meat and drink the purified drink.
and then I would have a huge screen that showed me a a live feed of hell and Imam Hussain (as) killers and their torture, for their sever punishment would be very pleasing for me.
And lastly, I would get the Camp Nou recreated and invite all of Jannah to watch the most intense soccer game of all time.
the Prophet (pbuh), the imam's (as) and myself would be one team and we would play an opposition filled with all the worlds great soccer players like: Pele, Maradona, Zidane, Michel Platini, Johan Cruyff, Cafu, Maldini, Tafarelle, Cantona, Ronaldo (portugese and Brazilian), Messi, Shevchenko, Jarzinho, etc
and if some or most of these soccer players were in hell, then I would get Allah (aj) to make replica's of them. Exact Replica's, OR, if he allows, give them respite from Hell for a little while so they can play in the match!!!
    And thats just the beginning...
    EDIT:
Just read an awsome verse, inshallah if we get in, we should all first say:
    sura a'raaf: ayat 43
    (bismillah)
SHAKIR: And We will remove whatever of ill-feeling is in their breasts; the rivers shall flow beneath them and they shall say: All praise is due to Allah Who guided us to this, and we would not have found the way had it not been that Allah had guided us; certainly the messengers of our Lord brought the truth; and it shall be cried out to them that this is the garden of which you are made heirs for what you did.

I think you need to be scared straight kiddo:
    Imam Muhammad al-Baqir () says:-
“Fornication has six types of effects. Three are for this world and three for the Hereafter. The three evils which become evident in this world are:-
    1. The face of the adulterer loses countenance.
    2. He falls into depravity and destitution.
    3. His death draws near.
And the three punishments for Hereafter are:
    1. He is liable for Divine anger.
    2. His reckoning is severe.
    3. He abides forever in Hell.
    Fornicator in the Barzakh
The fifth Imam (as) has also said,
“Whoever commits Fornication with a Muslim, Jew, Christian or Magian woman, whether she is a slave or a free woman; and dies without repenting of his sin, then the Almighty Allah opens three hundred doors of punishment in his grave. From each door many snakes, scorpions and pythons emerge from the fire and burn and torment him till the Day of Qiyamat.”
Fornicator on the Day of Judgement
Imam Muhammad Baqir (as) describes the fornicator in detail and says that when he would be raised from his grave on the Day of Judgement he shall be in a horrible state. The Imam says, “When a fornicator will rise from his grave the stink of his body shall hurt the people. The people will know what deeds he had committed in the world. Till the Almighty Allah would order him to be thrown into the fire.” Then Imam Baqir () continues, “Know that Allah has prohibited Himself the haraam things. He has also prescribed the rules and regulations of life. No one is more modest than Allah. It is His modesty that He has prohibited Fornication.”
I know you have stated that you haven't plunged into technical fornication but u are getting real close. Your death is drawing near if you keep this up...

La fata illa Ali reacted to Yasoob Al Deen in For The Love Of God, Change The Forum Skin
    Salamun alaykum.
This new forum upgrade has resulted in a mass of problems that simply do not justify the upgrade if the upgrade was to gain these new features that are unnecessary, time-wasting, and sometimes lame imitations of the style of facebook.
Examples of poor colouring, other poor style formatting choices while browsing a board, and other problems
Browsing the forum, and reading topics, with this new skin has turned from a quick and enjoyable activity into something not so. The colours are so light, they seem to blend in confusingly/irritatingly.
Let's take this board as an example: http://www.shiachat....eeth-dua-forum/
The "mark this forum as read" button image appears to be missing.
The text in the Shiachat logo is too similar to the surrounding blue colour and therefore unnoticeable.
The three key topics/announcements on top of the posts, such as the Live Chat topic, there is no real distinction between the three topics. Furthermore, the colour of the words is similar to the background colour and light enough to easily nullify the intended easy-reading. The colour of the board description "Discuss Allah's holy book, Hadeeths..." is also so light, one would easily miss it. The same major problem exists for the information underneath the topic (e.g."Started by ruru, 03 Aug 2011"). The same major problem exists forthe page numbers of a topic.
Examples of poor colouring, other poor style formatting choices, and other problems while browsing a topic:
Let's take this topic as an example: http://www.shiachat....the-holy-quran/
The "report" button image appears to be missing.
The title of the post at the top is too large, while the description is too small.
The text in the "like" button is far too light. And the background of the quote buttons are too light, and the text is not dark enough.
The post number "#1" is also far too light and easily missed.
Scroll down to post #2, and see how the new skin has poorly formatted Hameedeh's information underneath her avatar (which was ruined by the upgrade). When Nader Zaveri posts, you can see that the link to his website underneath his avatar goes onto the post; another example of poor formatting by the author of this skin; see
The white background is too light and makes reading the post uncomfortable and more difficult.
If you go to the end of Hameedeh's post, underneath the "like this" button, there is a poorly-placed, lightly-coloured, X button.
Scroll down to post #3, and you will see the formatting of the post has been ruined, because Hamed Agha pasted some Arabic text in.
Scroll down to post #5 and see the signature. Now a standard colour, and standard small size, has become too light and too small.
Scroll to the end of the topic and see the following links: "Back to Quran, Hadeeth & Du'a Forum · Next Unread Topic →". Far too light. Far too small. Don't even look links.
The quick reply box is not distinct due to the phobia of shading anything with a sharp, dark colour.
The "up" button at the end of the page is also far too light.
Examples of the theme's confusing indicators:
The topic icons are uninformative and confusing. What does that star mean? I assume it means that I started the topic or that I posted in the topic or something like that.
Why is the pinned topic "Hadeeths About Crimes Of Enemies Of Ahlul Bayt" surrounded by white instead of the very light blue that the rest of the topics are?
I could go on and talk about other irritations such as when trying to post a topic, but I've said enough.
This new skin is frankly hideous, and unappealing. Yes, I know there will be oddballs who say they like the new skin. But I don't. And I'm sure there are others who don't. It makes trying to browse the boards and trying to read topics annoying.
At the very least, please install another skin into the forums, so that we have choice.
Please voice your agreement or like my post.
