La fata illa Ali got a reaction from humble-servant in Recurring Nightmares.
    (bismillah)
    (salam)
Hey Bliss, mind doing an experiment for me???
U see I never dream at all...or as they say, I dont 'remember them' but anyways.
This is from fawaid - e quran: http://www.al-islam.org/fawaid/2.htm

    Surah al-Layl (The night)
There are 21 ayaat in this Surah and it was revealed in Makkah. The holy Prophet (S) has said that the reward of reciting this Surah is so much that the one who recites it will be pleased when he sees it in his Book of Deeds. His inspiration of good deeds (Tawfiq) will also increase.
If recited 15 times before sleeping, one will dream about what pleases him most. Reciting it in the I’sha prayers, carries the reward of completing a quarter of the holy Qur’an and is guaranteed that the prayers are accepted.
So tonight, b4 going to bed, please read sura layl 15 times and tell us what ur dream was about.
    Good Luck.

    Salamun 'alaykum w/r w/b:
Our Sunni brothers often read sura Al-Kahf (the cave) on Fridays.
Is this also recommended for us Shia?
I know reciting quran is always a good thing but do we have narrations that it is recommended to recite surah Al-Kahf on Fridays?
    I found this document from Duas.org: www.duas.org/suraben.doc
If you search for surah Al-Kahf, you will see that it states the following:
    Surah al-Kahf (The Cave)
This surah has 110 ayaat and it was revealed in Makkah. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) has said that whoever recites this surah will be protected from fitna (evil) for eight days. If a person recites the last verse of surah al-Kahf before sleeping at night, Allah (s.w.t.) creates a noor (light) from his sleeping place up to the Holy Ka’bah and in this light are angels who continually pray for the reciter until he wakes up.
It is narrated from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) that if a person wishes to wake up at a particular time, he should recite the last ayah of this surah and then make the intention that he will wake up at a certain time and he will wake up at that time. He (a.s.) also said that if a person recites this surah every Thursday night, he will die the death of a martyr. Keeping this surah (written) in the house becomes a means of protection from poverty and debts.
So there is no mention of reciting on Friday itself.
    1) Does anyone know if there is authentic hadith which says to recite surah Al-Kahf on Friday it self from Shia sources?
    2) Does any Sunni Brothers out there know the hadith which you folk use to convince yourselves that reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Friday is recomended and the benefits in this world and the next of this action?
    Shukran.

I should have been more clear. I meant to say that the few sunni`s that I know, seem to only know that they should read it during the day.
Thank you for the link as I can now show them that it can be read at night or the day.

    Thank you Nader Zaveri.
Yes, I do not know the major books (other than Al-Kafi) but I have a brain and so that is all you need for analysis. I did not appreciate your previous comment at all.
Nonetheless, Your hadith have convinced me to read it on Thursday night just like the document form duas.org suggested.
    Thank you for this.
Again I wanted to highlight that this is different from our sunni brothers as they heavily emphasize to read it during the day portion of friday and it made me curious as to the correct timing.
Again thank you for clarifying that it is Thursday evening that is the best time to recite surah Al-Kahf.
    Much appreciated.
As for Surah Bani Isra'il, yes I have read that hadith before and I hope both you and I get a chance to meet the Imam (atfs) one day! Inshallah.

    Salamun 'alaykum w/r w/b:
    Thank you for the Hadith!
However the argument you have presented seems contradictory.
I am aware that Maghrib indicates the beginning of the next day. However, the hadith clearly states that "Whoever reads it during the day of Friday".
So lets examine this: Maghrib marks the beginning of the night of the next day. i.e. What we call "Thursday night' in North America is actually "Friday night". But a distinction has to be made between the
    1) The Night of Friday
    2) The Day of Friday
The night of Friday begins at Maghrib and goes till the time of Imsak or Fajr (one of the two). At this point...the day of Friday begins and ends at the time of Maghrib which is the night of Saturday and so on.
So your statement "So when it says Thursday night, it means Friday" is not academic enough and lacks the clarity between the division of night and day.
Now lets go back to the Hadith. The Prophet was extra specific to indicate "...Whoever reads it during the day of Friday..."
He did not say "...Whoever reads it during Friday...(which would include both the night and day of Friday together)"
This leads me to believe that if one wanted to follow the hadith specifically, then reciting it during the day portion of Friday (during fajr or after fajr but before Maghrib) is accurately practicing the hadith rather than reciting it during Friday night (Thursday night in North American thinking).
Also, is the hadith that you quoted from a shia book? I am not well versed with the islamic books of hadith.
Please critique my analysis and let me know if you disagree as I really want to follow the hadith accurately. It is important to me whether it is read on Friday Night (thurday evening) or on the day portion of Friday itself.
    Shukran

No, due to a certain event, I realized that Shia's are terrible in supporting the converts and we should do a better job at this.

Also if there are any female converts then I have a sister in faith that would help out in that respect...I am not looking to take advantage of anyone.

Also very curious if there are any Shia lurking in Calgary and depressed thinking there are no other shia here.

I was thinking the same thing but lets do some mathematics.
Realize that we are talking in the billions. So If you combine the world wars (WWI WWII) and all the contemporary wars would that add to the billions?
    Far from it.
Furthermore famine and diseases? Billions of deaths? I can believe this one if you sum it up over the decades (Plague + Spanish flu etc).
Anyways, I pray that we all are alive when Imam (atfs) re-appears and we not only fight for him, but we also experience what it means to live in a just society and I can't wait for the remaining letters of knowledge!!! (Humans currently have 2 out of 27 ish?)

According to current numbers that's approx 2 billion for each third so 4 billion dead before Imam arrives????

    2) What is the interpretation of it and do YOU believe that this is gonna happen...or..has already happened???

guys very simple answer to this. No intellectual requirement really.
If Shimr is a shia, then so are the khawarij cause they all were on Imam Ali's (as) side at the beginning of the battle.
You see how silly that sounds. Similarly, one's whole life is examined. Ill give you another example in the reverse direction.
Ammar bin Yassir , according to some was amongst those who first apostated then returned to islam by being with Ali (as). I could stop at the death of the Prophet (pbuh) and say that Ammar bin Yassir (ra) was an apostate and not examine his whole life.
These tricks are for the weak minded and Shimr (la) was just going with the flow when he fought with Ali (as) and nothing more.

    Ya..two things about ur response:
    1) Mutah will cause a family fight but 4 wives wont fight??? Get married to 4 wives then tell ur experiences!!! Lol
    2) Girls are naturally loyal! That would mean adultery between two married people would never exist! But obviously it exists as it is mentioned in the quran. The true definition of zina is married people having intercourse with other married people. So Girls are just as loyal as men and some are super loyal and some are not loyal.
Mutah is a sunnah of the Prophet (as) and should be praticed in situations where required.

Since about February 2011, I have tried to recite dua Ahad for 40 mornings. Each time I tried, I failed to wake up for Fajr at about the two to two and half week mark. Everytime I was dissapointed with myself.
If I couldn't get to pray fajr for 40 days then forget about Dua Ahad, I had bigger problems.
Nonetheless, I continued to struggle, continued to try and recite dua Ahad 40 mornings in a row...kept failing.
Even though I came home from University, there were mornings that my whole family would fail to wake up for fajr...A really sad state of affairs.
On Tuesday June 7th, I didnt not wake up for fajr...I had failed again. I recited the qaza of fajr at 11 am and for the first time said,
"Ya Allah, without ur tawfeek, is it possible for this task ever to be accomplished? Ya Allah adrikini!"
khair, I woke up for Fajr on Wed, June 8th...and the next day, and the day after that, and so on and so forth till I hit July 3rd. I realized that Alhamdulilah, I had done a good job for waking up for fajr, Also my family had also not missed a single fajr since Wed, June 8th, and I had also recited dua Ahad on every morning since Wed, June 8th. I knew, that this would not have been accomplished without Allah (aj) granting me the tawfeek to do so.
Curiosity overcame me and having the knowledge that I hadnt missed dua Ahad since June 8th, I wanted to see the date of the '40th day' of my endeavour would be.
By Allah (aj), to whom all the Glory, praise, and thanks belongs, I realized that my '40th day' would be none other than the morning of 15 SHA'BAAN ITSELF!!!!!!! (Sun, July 17th)
I promise all of u that I didnt plan for it to be like this. I only figured out on July 3rd that this would be the result and I was over joyed.

    SHAKIR: And you do not please except that Allah please, surely Allah is Knowing, Wise;

La fata illa Ali got a reaction from Al Hadi in Mutah (again!)
No Offence brother but we do not need Ahle Sunnah wal Jammah posting on our issues. Please refrain from posting on these issues, ur opinion is of NO value here.
Feel free to post on the Shia/Sunni Forum.
