  1. @alshemary Thank you for the explanations and the videos. Do you know which books have the narrations related to the first video? I would like to read them. jazak Allah Kheir
  2. Would you be able explain the first one for me? I have no idea what is happening in either.
  3. Assalaam aleikum So I was having a conversation with a sunni brother, and he presented me with these two videos. Unfortunately my Arabic is not good enough to understand what exactly is happening. Can someone please explain this to me. I would also like to see evidence for the actions in the videos (Quran and Hadith). Thank you so much! jazakallah kheiran http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEUmw7FJxtk&feature=related
  4. I am studying at the American University in Cairo. It's not only my first time in Egypt, but also my first trip out of the US. It's going to be amazing. I read through the thread that was mentioned earlier, and it definitely helped me add things to my to-do list.
  5. Thank you to everyone who posted, I am studying there this summer, and I have extended my to-do list.
  6. I am studying in Cairo, so that's where I'll be spending most of my time. I do plan on going to Alexandria and Sharm al-sheikh, and all the museums I can find. I will definitely read through that thread. Thank you so much!
  7. I had the same problem when I first reverted. It wasn't until recently (3 years later) that my reversion was accepted among the Muslim community where I live. It takes patience from both sides. Reverts tend to ask a lot of hard questions, some which only scholars can truly answer, but eventually it all works out. insha'Allah this becomes less of a problem.
  8. ÓáÇã Úáíßã I am travelling to Egypt this summer, and I looking for places that are not normal tourist spots. I will be seeing the pyramids, mosques, and markets; but I want to know some of the places to see that most travelers don't get to see. jazak Allah
  9. I would just ignore them, it's none of their business what kind or how much makeup you are wearing.
  10. I think it is nice when anyone says sallam whether you know them or not. I don't think women should find it creepy, it's similar to smiling or saying hi to a stranger. There isn't anything wrong with it, and it might even make their day better. That said, I find it uncomfortable when a man says sallam, only because I do not wear a hijab and I wonder how he knows I am a Muslimah. ;)
  11. Masha'Allah! I have dealt with these questions as well when I am talking with either non-muslims or sunnis who question my faith as a shia
  12. I have actually decided against it because I do not know for sure if this is going to lead to a permanent marriage, and because he wants to keep it a secret. It is not the right time for any type of marriage whether it is temporary or permanent. شكرا جزيلا
  13. I am actually of age, I have been looking into mutah and it's implications and I was unable to find an answer to this questions. I don't think my parents have any say over the matter because they are not Muslims. I am the only one in my family, so situations like mutah are hard for me to figure out. Thank you for all of your responses.
