Actually people who suffer from some psychiatric conditions (like schizophrenia) may look perfectly healthy. Their problems could start during teen-age years and continue for a long time afterwords. Some of their symptoms resemble that of "jinn possession". Once diagnosed and they start taking medicines regularly there could be dramatic improvement in their condition.

I am not saying that Br. Sajjad has that condition. But regardless of the cause, it is crucial to first rule out any medical conditions that could be causing his problem. His family should be involved and he should get a full neurological and psychiatric evaluation.

i understand completely where you are coming from, but brother sajjad said he was perfectly healthy when he had undertaken medical tests. i guess because we know so little about how the human brain works (despite all psychological research undertaken, psychologists only provide theories, not solid fact about certain conditions) and we know even less about jinn and how they function, we have to consider both possibilities. but either way, whether it is a medical condition or actual jinn, worshipping Allah in any way will reduce the effects significantly (not to mention it will strengthen ones iman) and one has no power but to make dua to Allah and pray that whatever they are experiencing to be gone.

everyone feels that they are distant from Allah at times, and like you said, the wajib prayers and reading quran sometimes do not reduce that distance and you still completely feel lost, confused and very miserable. i have recently noticed that our sins and lack of thought about what we do is what increases that distance. and this is probably going to sound weird, but the thing that is going to motivate you to become closer to Allah is guilt. you should reflect about the major and minor sins that you have committed, thinking about them in a way that you have directly offended Allah, the prophet (saww) and ahlul bayt (as).

the guilt will make you want to repent, and ask for forgiveness, and you should put all your heart into it, even cry if you have to. reading dua (like dua al tawbah) will really wake up your conscience, but make sure you are understanding what you are reading and actually mean what you are saying.

i also suggest praying salatul lail everynight, it does wonders for your iman, and dua al haseen after you finish praying. tasbih and constant reminder that Allah is watching you will keep your thoughts always on Allah, consequently drawing you closer to Him. there is no use reading dua, quran or praying if your heart and mind are not in it, i've come to realise that.

you should always do these activities alone, so you can feel that you are facing Allah and praying to him directly.

i hope that helps, inshallah your path will be enlightened

  3. i understand that people are very skeptical about the whole jinn issue, and the first thing they do if you mention it to anyone, is, give you a sympathetic look and ask, 'have you seen a psychologist about this?' and they kind of plant it in your mind that what you are feeling is actually your brain playing tricks on you. that could be true if you are going through a stressful time, but if the effects last for such a long time, despite that you are perfectly healthy, then there is obviously something wrong and its not a psychological issue.

i was wondering why is it that if a jinn sticks to someone, they dont let go?

some of the effects that you are experiencing brother sajjad are pretty intense, and like you said, reading quran, dua, going to the ziyarat does not completely rid you of the jinn, but they do reduce its effects but it doesnt go away!

i suggest that you do the following

    1. print out small palm cards of ayat al kursi and stick them around the house, in every room, stick the ayah on the four corners of the room

    2. let the athan recite constantly around the house at high volume

    3. read surat al jinn at least 5 times a day

    4. pray salatul lail - really helpful

    5. do not have a shower at dawn or dusk, (ive noticed that it is most active at those times, especially dawn)

    6. to stop all the nightmares (of any kind) read surat al fatiha (3x), surat al ikhlas (3x) surat al nas (3x), surat al falaq (3x) ayat al kursi (5x) before you sleep and make sure u do wudu

    7. always let surat al baqara recite around the house

    8. leave the quran next to your head when you sleep

those guys that think they can make the jinn go away by reading quran or dua are wrong, it doesnt change a thing!

hope that helps and inshalah you will get rid of it

  4. Realplayer is probably the best downloading tool, it downloads any clip or video on any site, by just clicking on the tap on the right hand corner of the video/clip 'download video'. you can also convert it into any format with the new realplayer. completely free.

    http://www.real.com.au/

if you are using firefox, downloadhelper is a useful add on that downloads any video on the page you are on.

    happy downloading!

  5. i did psychology last year at uni, really hated it because most of it is just theories that have no solid proof, everything is just 'it could be this' or 'it could be that'. and dont get me started on developmental psychology and freud and his stupid theories!

but i studying for it is probably easy, because its more memorising than anything else, and the concepts are pretty simple. i suggest making notes, that is, just look at the outline of what you have to know and under each category put down what you have to know by summarising from your text book. if you cover all the topics outlined than you've basically learned all the answers to most of the questions that your teacher could have asked.

good luck with your exams and inshallah you will do good!

  6. i have the same problem at uni, and i usually just say 'sorry i can't' and its really embarrassing because they give you a weird look. i usually avoid all men to save me the trouble, but the problem is when your friends introduce you to 'their' friends, which are usually non-muslims. i understand your situation, because i still cant find a solution to the problem, its really embarrassing, but i guess living with the embarrassment is better than compromising your religion.

this issue has been bugging me for quite some time and it makes me so angry when muslims are depicted as terrorists even though it quite the opposite, that is, that we are getting terrorised. it just made me realise how stupid people are to believe that!

you see, if they would stop and think for one second that how can muslims be terrorists when the bombs and attacks are all occuring in muslim countries such as iraq, pakistan etc. and that muslims are the target, specifically shias???

furthermore, the only event that was a major attach against non muslims was 9/11, and even then, muslims also died in that event. but why cant people SEE that? its so obvious and it just makes me wonder why the non-muslims hate us when we are the ones getting killed?!

somebody please enlighten me because i dont understand, i dont understand what America and Israel have against muslims, i dont understand what the Wahabis have against shias! why are they trying to create hate between the sunnis and shias, and between the muslims and non muslims? its not like there is a great war coming up and they are trying to weaken the enemy or that there is a prize for the most powerful or most conniving force! plus, the world was pretty stable before the terrorism issue come up after 9/11, the muslims werent seeking power so America had nothing to fear, so why strike all of a sudden?

everyone knows the 9/11 was just a ploy that America pulled so that they have something to pin on the muslims. AS IF some random idiot could out-smart American security and hijack a plane!

but the question remains - why?

why all of a sudden the muslims were depicted as a threat?

i hate politics, but this issue really bugged me!

  8. Does anyone know a good Du'a to read everyday to increase spirituality? Some days I feel super spiritual, other days not so much, so I wanna keep it up. Any suggestions?

    salam

Dua Al Tawbah definitely is one to read everyday, it makes you reflect on your sins and wrongs, as well as beg forgiveness from Allah. this is the link to both the audio with subtitles

    hope that helps!!

    salam
