  1. “It is useless to attempt to reason a man out of a thing he was never reasoned into.” (Jonathan Swift)

  2. Reasoning will never make a Man correct an ill Opinion, which by Reasoning he never acquired. - Jonathan Swift

  3. "Willing to appear openly to those who seek Him with all their heart, and to be hidden from those who flee from Him with all their heart, He so regulates the knowledge of Himself that He has given signs of Himself, visible to those who seek Him, and not to those who seek Him not. There is enough light for those who only desire to see, and enough obscurity for those who have a contrary disposition." - Blaise Pascal

  4. And recite to them, [O Muhammad], the news of him to whom we gave [knowledge of] Our signs, but he detached himself from them; so Satan pursued him, and he became of the deviators.

And if We had willed, we could have elevated him thereby, but he adhered [instead] to the earth and followed his own desire. So his example is like that of the dog: if you chase him, he pants, or if you leave him, he [still] pants. That is the example of the people who denied Our signs. So relate the stories that perhaps they will give thought.

    [Qur'an 7:175-176, Sahih International]

  5. But if they do not answer you, then know that they only follow their low desires; and who is more erring than he who follows his low desires without any guidance from Allah? Surely Allah does not guide the unjust people. [Qur'an 28:50, Shakir translation]

  6. And if you obey most of those in the earth, they will lead you astray from Allah's way; they follow but conjecture and they only lie. [Qur'an 6:116, Shakir]

  7. He [satan] said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate [Qur'an 15:39, Shakir]
