    MOHALI: Former

Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood , who is now a British citizen, has finally got an Indian visa and would be joining his

    IPL

    team

    Kings XI Punjab

    soon, skipper

    Adam Gilchrist

    said.

"I have just been told that he has received a visa," Gilchrist, whose side beat Pune Warriors on Thursday, told reporters.

Gilchrist, who is also the team's coach, said Mahmood (37) should be joining the side soon and "that would be nice".

On Wednesday when Gilchrist had been asked about the status of Mahmood, who was picked up by KXIP at this year's players' auction in joining the team, he had said, "It's up to the government because he is not getting his visa at the moment.

"We bought a player we were told was available for every game and we are still unable to access our player. It's not in our hands."

Mahmood, who has featured in 21 Tests and 143 ODIs for Pakistan, was bought by KXIP for $200,000 but had not been able to play in the IPL as he had not been given the Indian visa.

Earlier, the team management had said Mahmood had himself taken a short break because of domestic reasons.

The Punjab team are hoping to bolster their bowling and batting attack with Mahmood's presence as they are also without English pacer

    Stuart Broad

, who has been ruled out because of injury.

If Mahmood plays for Punjab, he will be the only former Pakistani player to feature in this season's IPL.

Alert GAYLE STORM IN IPL -5

5 sixes and a broken nose of a girl

Bangalore: Almost all the Royal Challengers Bangalore fans present at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Tuesday went away with a grin after RCB’s last-ball win over the Pune Warriors. All except a young girl named Tia who had to go home with a broken nose after being hit by a six from the blade of Chris Gayle.

Gayle was the star of the match with his 81 off 48 deliveries that set the Bangalore side on course to victory. After a sedate start by his established standards, the West Indian opened up and hit a record eight sixes and 4 fours, with five of the sixes coming in the 13th over by Warriors' Rahul Sharma.

One of those high and handsome sixes had the misfortune of landing on the young cricket fan, who was rushed off with her nose bleeding profusely.

Gayle was apologetic about the episode and even went to visit Tia after the match was over. He wrote about the incident on his Twitter account @henrygayle: “Visit Tia who got hit by 1 of my 6s, broken nose :( her 1st word to me is to Chill, She's fine! xxx “

Cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar also had something to say about the incident – “Have decided, my kids will not go to the ground when chris gayle is playing...its just too dangerous :)

  2. You can change it on shiachat ! I am not saying in your real documents such as Passport etc...........

@Jugni : varun means very funny according to him

Very Funny Ahlulbayt(AS) ? Are they some kind of Joke !

Ghandi bought freedom to India with non-violence he has read and admired Imam Hussain(AS) Heroic effort in Karbala

Ghandi said : "If Ever India Want freedom they should follow the footsteps of Imam Hussain(AS)"

  3. Yeah varun , change your Nick name on shiachat because As you said "varun" means very funny , You can't associate this name with Ahlulbayt(AS) as they are Infallible . and Ahlulbayt(AS) are highly respected among shias. I'm sure you have done your research on it !

  4. Jugni whats happening why pakistani fans getting converted to Indian fans ? are u pay less money to them ;) or are you bribing Indian fans to support Pakistan ....

    Daal mai kuch kaala hain

Jugniiiiiii jee this is not expected from your end :D dont bring artifical pakistan fans :P why would a paki fan say "jai hind"

  5. In India , Fans will beat up the burn the stadium or stone on the player houses if they wouldn't play well back in old day but every thing get in control with cops coming on scene.

But this is CuRRENT Asia Cup King's and I dont blame afridi for this. As , I don't see any escort by cops in the video from/at the airport around him as a protection for Pakistani National Players, No wonder PCB still cant win ICC heart to play International cricket in Pakistan instead of neutral venues like Dubai.

No security for its national side to ?

  6. World's best Bowling Side Vs World's Best Batting side.

Let the Sachin bat do the talk about Shoaib Akhtar book that he wrote against sachin :P (................

My best knock was vs Pak in 2003 World Cup: Tendulkar. Sachin speaks about his career threatening injury and much more to CNN-IBN. Sachin regard this inning as his best in one day internationals. it was a much awaited match against Pakistan, a very good bowling side which include the likes of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younas, Shoaib Akhtar, Abdul Razzak. The master batsman has just completed his twenty(20) years in odisbest cricket innings ever

    Pakistan salutes record-setting Sachin Tendulkar

KARACHI: Former cricketing greats and fans in

Pakistan paid tribute Saturday to Indian batting superstar Sachin Tendulkar after he became the first player ever to score 100 international centuries

    .

"It is a great achievement which other players of his era and those who come after him will not even think of achieving," former Pakistan captain

    Javed Miandad

said, who featured in Tendulkar's first Test in

    Karachi

    in 1989.

"When he played against us in 1989 he showed glimpses of what was in store for world cricket and the kind of sincerity he has shown with the game has only made him immortal and prolonged his career to 23 years and he can still go on."

Miandad hailed the father of two, known variously as the "Little Master" or "Bombay Blaster", as a role model for the cricketing world.

"I congratulate Tendulkar on this rare feat and advise the future generation of players, wherever they live and wherever they play, to just follow Tendulkar's focus, dedication and hunger for success."

    Another former Pakistan captain

Moin Khan , who played against Tendulkar from 1992-2004, also joined the chorus of praise.

"He has achieved something which will be tough to match. He has been a trend-setter and if players try to emulate him we will get more and more great players, but his records will be tough to erase.

"Tendulkar's speciality is that he is very very professional, he loves the game and lusts for runs. With no controversy in his career he has been a role model to follow for future cricketers," said Moin.

"I would call him the Kohi-noor (a famous diamond) of world cricket," said former leg-spinner

    Abdul Qadir

, who played in Tendulkar's first Test series.

"Great players are not those who do great achievements but those who, with their great character on and off the field, become role models. And Tendulkar is a role model."

Fans in the street also acknowledged Tendulkar's feat.

"Tendulkar is also adored in Pakistan and we are happy at his achievement. We are happy that he has not hit his 100th hundred against Pakistan," said Babar Khan, a local resident.

  7. ITS FACT!

Whenever Tendulkar scores century, India lose that match.

Whenever Tendulkar out without century, India win that match.

Tem dul kar days are over now.......its Kholi boy days when he score century , India will win :D

Fact is : India has defeated Pakistan in Big stages many times including when Pakistan won the World Cup back in 1992 !

  8. Asia Cup final: Giant-killers Bangladesh aim to hunt down Pakistan

With former champions India and Sri Lanka shockingly thrown out of the competition, it is the most surprising summit line-up for the event which is struggling for relevance in a crowded international calender.

Defending champions India paid the price for a stunning loss to Bangladesh in the league stage while four-time winners Sri Lanka failed to register a single triumph this time.

The debacles of the two teams, who have dominated the tournament since its inception way back in 1984, paved the way for an unlikely finalist in Bangladesh, a side which is known to upstage biggies but not for going the whole hog.

The giant-killers thrashed India, chasing down a mammoth 290, but that was seen merely as one of the rare stunners that the Tigers are so well known to throw up in multi-nation events

But Pakistan would look to play the party-poopers.

Misbah-ul-Haq's men have not won the title since 2000 edition, which was interestingly held in Bangladesh.

Pakistan were given a mighty scare in the league encounter that they played against the spirited hosts but would still be overwhelming favourites to win the title for only the second time.

They certainly have the arsenal to complete the job. Their batting looks solid with in form openers Mohammed Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed providing fine starts in the league stage.

Younis Khan and Umar Akmal have made decent contributions in the middle order. Overall, Pakistan have the line-up to post a huge total on board.

What probably might be slightly worrying is the way their bowlers have leaked runs. Pace spearhead Umar Gul has picked up wickets but it is the flow of runs that he has to check.

Aijaz Cheema was ineffective, at least against India, who managed to chase down a huge target of 330 due to the pedestrian effort of Pakistani bowlers.

Pakistan's fielding too needs to improve. The reflexes haven't been sharp enough and it could cost them dearly if Bangladesh manage to continue their superb run.

To sum it up, Pakistan certainly start favourites when the two captains walk out for toss tomorrow but given the high Bangladesh is on right now, it could well be the night of the underdog.
