You don't understand Urdu? It's a famous poem by a Sunni Sufi Sheikh (Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti)

Hussein is the Ruler, Hussein is the King, Hussein is fatih, the protector of the religion/faith is Hussein, he gave his head instead of his hands (allegiance) to yazeed, Indeed Hussein is the foundation of La ilaha

I think there's a difference between Irfan and modern Sufism. Well the lecturer said he was in fact a Sunni Hanafi. Didn't he praise Umar and Muawiya? I think Sufi's praise Imam Ali especially, like Rumi did. I agree that his mentioning of wine etc is metaphorical and shouldn't be taken literally. Even in tashayu' deviant beliefs have crept in so we can't be too quite to dismiss all Irfani works.

I'm having a discussion with someone who completely rejects Sufi's and Philosophy and calls it kufr etc. I hate hearing their illogical basis to their claims. The name of the professor was Ahmad Jalali..the lectures were recorded. I'll try to find out when they'll be put online. I don't agree with Rumi's aqeeda, though his poetry and way of thinking is inspiring.

Also he said that questions are always ongoing, if we find the exact answers then part of human endeavours will be ended. Irfan/Mysticism is an artistic understanding of religion/theology. Analogy - An art work is subject to each person's understanding/perception of it. There are many layers to an art work. In the same way no one can transfer their spiritual understanding to another.

Inshallah. I attended a few lectures on Mysticism and the lecturer said that religion is a divine entity and that Islam has manifested itself in different civilisations. Civilisation is a man-made product and can be questioned in the process of development. For e.g: Islamic architecture etc wasn't taught by the Prophet (S), however these were all influenced by the Divine message. So as the Prof said, it's more appropriate to say 'Muslim' Architecture instead of 'Islamic...

that's great. I won't condemn you for it. If I were to start all over then I'd have to go to the bottom of the mountain and climb up it again. Even though I believe that we should be seekers of the truth, I kinda get where he was coming from.

comes* then we will never know the truth. We are lucky to be born Shia so we have a greater responsibility on this Earth. I believe that if a person has good deeds regardless of their faith then in the hereafter they will be tested to see if they bear witness to the Oneness of Allah etc. If they do then they'll be judged on their actions, rather than their ignorance in faith.

I guess I had a set mindset, thinking that my religion is the only path to Allah. But I've come to realise that everyone has a special connection with their Creator and that there is no define way on how we can reach him. Although I do think that my religion is the correct path, what's to say that we are following it the way Allah wants us to? Many Muslims condemn Sufi's for their beliefs but they don't realise that this is how they connect with God. Until our awaited Imam com...

lol why thank you...I choose not to associate myself with that flag. For centuries we've had the shir o khorshid, why the need to change it? The new flag is associated with the 'Islamic' Republic. And with the revolution came so much bloodshed and misery for years followed on. The old flag doesn't represent the Monarchy as some people claim it does. We've had the flag for centuries and it should have been kept that way, not that I have any issues with the new flag itself...
