  2. Hameedeh's post in Is organ donation allowed in our sect? was marked as the answer
Organ transplantation and organ donation (while alive or after death) are serious questions that have been asked to Shia Ulema and the answer is that it depends on your marja. The links to the document below mention some rulings by Ayatullah al-Khu’i RA, Ayatullah Jawad Tabrizi RA, Ayatullah Sistani HA, Ayatullah Nasir Makarim HA, and Ayatullah Khamenei (also spelled Khamanie). Please read the document carefully because there are conditions to note.

  3. Hameedeh's post in sajda while reading quran was marked as the answer
Salam, Brother Rasmi. That is a good question.
For those who don't know, there are four special ayahs in the Holy Qur'an that if you read them you need to make a wajib sajdah, which means sajdah becomes obligatory:

Surat Alif Lam Mim Sajdah (32:15)
    Surat Ha Mim Sajdah (41:38)
    Surat Najm (53:62)
    Surat al-Alaq (96:19)
  4. Hameedeh's post in Humility and pride - burning question was marked as the answer
Salam. If someone tells you that you are humble, and you agree with this assessment, then you are not full of pride or arrogance but have a modest view of your own importance. It's nice to get such a kind compliment. Unless the person was not sincere. Only you can know if the person was being kind to you or being sarcastic. Be aware of the person's facial expression or body movements to understand if the compliment was genuine. Text message compliments need an emoji to convey the message more clearly.
  5. Hameedeh's post in M.H Shakir was marked as the answer
No, he was not a Shia, as far as anyone knew. According to Wikipedia he was a graduate of Al-Azhar University. His English translation of the Holy Qur'an was not biased toward the Sunni tafsirs so some Shias like his translation.
  6. Hameedeh's post in Can a person do mutah with his sister or mother? was marked as the answer
Salam. In Islam, a man cannot marry his own mother or sister and some other female relatives. Beware: if your son or your brother wants to marry you, tell him it is haram, which means prohibited. See this post which has a list of people that males and females cannot marry, according to Islamic Law:

  10. Hameedeh's post in What is forbidden during Muharram was marked as the answer
Salam. During the Holy Month of Muharram and even until the 20th of Safar (Arbaeen) the Shias are in mourning for the martyrdom of Imam Hussein AS. During this time they refrain from celebrating even if something good happens. Some do not rejoice during the whole month of Safar because it also contains the sad days of when the Holy Prophet SA and Imam Hassan AS left us. Some continue the mourning until the 9th of Rabi al-Awwal (the day after the martyrdom of the 11th Imam AS). So on the 9th of Rabi al-Awwal people celebrate the Imamat of Imam Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance.

If you buy a book (or anything) from Amazon, please go to smile.amazon.com and buy through there. Designate that you want a donation made to Ahlul Bayt Digital Islamic Library Project which is al-islam.org website. Every purchase made through smile.amazon.com will send a percentage to them, without increasing your price at checkout. Those who purchased recently have donated a nice sum of $215+ to al-islam.org website.

  12. Hameedeh's post in I think ramadan was yesterday fam... was marked as the answer
In the US and Canada the crescent moon was seen yesterday, after sunset. It was high in the sky, above the trees, not near the horizon. That height is what makes it's age older. So if you see the crescent moon tonight looks larger, it is because it is older.
If you click on the photo it will enlarge for you. If not, try to zoom the page and see the moon. This photo is from Virginia, USA and you can read the date as May 26, which means today (May 27) is the first day of Ramadan in the US and Canada.

The crescent moon pic is from moonsighting.com
