  1. I've obseved this too. Sad really. People have made the hadith the guide of the Book of guidance!
  2. Listen up, you're just going nowhere at all with your self-made logic. Islam prohibits making images/idols like the polytheists do. We don't need to try and make it sound correct. When the Prophet/Allah say something, you listen and obey. Secondly, I don't care what the wahabis and sunnis say about that subject. Stop this sectarian labeling. I never labeled myself anything else than Muslim, so respect that. Third, "House of Allah" was used for the Kaaba by Hajj Hassanain Rajabali which is well-known to most of you in this video . It's a metaphor, so please stop the nonsense, I don't even understand why you even need to fuss about this expression.Fourth, Islam doesn't have any idols or status. Idol: A graven image or representation of anything that is revered, or believed to convey spiritual power; A cultural icon, or especially popular person. Islam is void of that. Allah sent Prophets over and over to get rid of theses things. The thread concerns the use of charms to repel the evil eye, such as this one presented by the OP. Islam is clear about it: it is kufr to carry charms, talisman, believing that by carrying them you are being protected. Symbolism is often used by magicians, and when magicians are involved, jinns are not far away. Keep away from theses things. End of discussion. (salam)
  3. NO, BUT IS IT NOT PROHIBITED IN ISLAM TO MAKE IMAGES OF GOD? IS IT NOT PROHIBITED TO VENERATE STATUES, LET ALONE BUILD ANY IDOLS? ACTUALLY, IF YOU TELL THEM TO GO AND DESTROY THESES STATUS THEY VISIT, THEY WILL FEEL OFFENDED. SECONDLY, ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. YOU SAY THEY DON'T BELIEVE THESES STATUES HAVE ANY POWER, THEN TELL ME, WHY DO THEY GO TO THEM AND MAKE DUA TO THEM NEAR THEM? JUST LIKE THE MUSHREKEEN OF NUHS TIME, THEY THOUGHT THAT BY GOING TO THESES IDOLS, THEY WILL COME CLOSER TO Allah. AND WHAT WE SEE TODAY IS THE SAME EXCUSE SOME "MUSLIMS' USE TO INVOKE OTHER THAN Allah. MORE ON THE SUBJECT: ANY RELIGION THAT INVOLVED SHIRK HAVE PORTRAYED WHAT THEY CALL UPON. THE CHRITIANS CALL UPON JESUS, THEY MADE STATUS AND IMAGES OF HIM. THE HINDUS DID THE SAME. THE BUDDHISTS DID THE SAME. NOW WE HAVE PEOPLE WHO CALL THEMSELVES MUSLIMS WHO HAVE PROTRAYED THE IMAMS, AND GUESS WHAT? THEY CALL ON THEM TOO. IT IS NOT A COINCIDENCE, THIS IS THE NATURE OF SHIRK. BUT YOU'LL GO ON DENYING IT LIKE YOU DID WHEN I QUOTED THE QURAN VERSE AFTER VERSE ABOUTTHE PROHIBITION OF MAKING DUA TO OTHER THAN Allah. "HOUSE OF Allah" IS A METAPHORE JUST LIKE "HANDS OF Allah" IS. WHAT DID ISLAM SAY ABOUT CHARMS, TALISMANS AND MAGIC? THIS IS WHAT THE THREAD IS ABOUT. All the Islamic jurists have declared the learning and practicing of magic to be unlawful and prohibited. Wasaail al-Shia'h, ch. 25 from the chapters of Maa Yuktasabu bihi, tr. 7 Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) has said: An evil omen affects only in the measure you consider it to possess. If you take it lightly, its influence would be trivial, but if you regard it seriously, it would affect you immensely and if you totally disregard it, it would have no effect. Read : http://www.imamreza.net/eng/imamreza.php?id=3112 THIS SHOULDN'T BE EVEN SOMETHING TO DISCUSS AS IT IS CLEAR AND UNDISPUTABLE. ALL MAJOR SCHOOLS OF THOUGHT DEEM THIS AS KUFR.
  4. (salam) I need DETAILED biographies of each Imam. The only things I came by were very small historical accounts of their lives. Anyone have books about their lives in detail? (wasalam)
  5. UH, IT'S CALLED THE QIBLA? YOU DON'T BOW DOWN TO IT, YOU BOW DOWN IN IT'S DIRECTION, AS COMMANDED BY Allah? SECONDLY, DID THE PROPHET BELIEVE THAT THE STONE CAN PROTECT HIM, OR DID HE KISS IT OUT OF RESPECT FOR THE QIBLA/HOUSE OF Allah? THOSE WHO MAKE DUA TO OTHER THAN Allah ARE MUSHREKEEN. NOT ALL SHIAS CALL ON OTHER THAN Allah. Can you please read the quran once in your life? What did Allah say on those who INVOKE other than Allah for help/protection/etc ? Ah yes, He said they are mushrekeens. How does rebuilding the Kaaba equate touching an idol believing it protects you? Obviously there's no comparison.
  6. Sect just means "a group of people". What if this group of people promised paradise are those who don't divide the ummah through their speeches and actions?
  7. (salam) What if the truth doesn't come in the form of a sect? What I mean by this is that whenever someone tries to find the truth, he looks for "groups", "sects", "denominations". For example, when someone finds Islam, they see shia, sunni, etc, and in most cases, they chose to follow a particular sect. Would it not be possible that for example, the truth might exist in both shia and sunni, meaning that some thing the shias say is true, while others are false, and the same goes for sunnis? Maybe A is true and B is false in shia, while A is false and B is true in sunni. Why is it that people try to defend a certain school pretending that everything in it is Truth, instead of defending Truth no matter from what school it comes from? I've seen people from both sects twisting things just so it fits their thoughts because they can't accept that the other sect is right on a certain subject. Thoughts?
  8. Bro The symbol predates Islam, this belief predates Islam. We're ordered to have faith in Allah, not in man-made accessories. If you drop that thing on the floor, it can break. You think that thing can help you fend off evil when it can't help itself from braking? This reminds me of the story of Prophet Ibrahim (as) when he destroyed all the idols except the biggest one to make people realize theses are just stones and that they can't procure protection. Recite Suraht Falak as it is a dua to protect you against all of theses evils. In fact, this surah is a dua to protect you from people who practice witchcraft too. Don't be fooled, there's no such thing as good witchcraft, just like there's no such thing as good kufr. Whatever is related to magic is haram, even if it disguises itself under the Islamic banner. You don't even need ahadith, the Quran is clear on the subject.
  9. (salam) What does the Quran say about: Who enters Hellfire? Do Muslims enter Hellfire? Can anyone get out of it once he's thrown in it? (wasalam)
  10. There's a question even more important than the one you're asking: I'm questioning your question. In all seriousness, you think that the existence of all of theses sects isn't confusing in the first place? If someone is afraid that the kids are going to be confused, believe me, they will be confused when they will stop swallowing whatever you oblige them to accept, when they will see that there are dozens of different sects in Islam. So many learned men that arrive with different conclusions using the same sources, are ending up calling each others khawarij, kafirs, nawasib, ahlul bida, etc. For what purpose? Ah yes, to serve our enemies through our divisions. Sunni School of Law Hanafi Shafi`i Maliki Hanbali School of Belief Ash'ari Maturidi Murji'ah Mu'tazil Athari Zahiri Movements Salafism Barelwi Deobandi Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimun Jamaat-e-Islami – Jamaat-e-Islami Jamaat al-Muslimeen Shia Twelvers Usulism Akhbarism Shaykhism Ismailism Nizari Mustaali Dawoodi Bohra Sulaimani Bohra Alavi Bohra Hebtiahs Bohra Atba-i-Malak Druze Zaidiyyah Jarudiyya Sulaimaniyya Salihiyya Dukayniyya Shia Khalafiyya Khashabiyya ‘Alawi Alevi Kharijite Ibadi Sufi Qadiri Bektashi Chishti Naqshbandi Oveyssi Suhrawardiyya Mouride Quranist Ahmadya Mahdavism Submitters ETCETC (quick wiki search) That's confusing isn't it.
  11. LOL I thought he said efendi as in the real meaning of the word.
  12. You can't justify in some cases. Can a Muslim justify wearing a christian cross? Can a Muslim justify bowing down to a statue? Can a Muslim justify participating in Majoos rituals? Can a Muslim justify going to a shaman for divination? Please understand that haram exists BOTH in intention AND in actions. One cannot steal to give sadaqa, one cannot commit zina to cheer up a lady, one cannot do kufr to worship Allah. All that I am saying is that talismans/charms/horoscopes/hand reading/throwing salt on someone/reading the pictures in a cup of coffee etc, theses superstitions (action and belief) are haram. Theses are cultural phenomenon that we often see people of our regions doing out of ignorance. As for "skirt of bibi Hajjar", never heard about it.
  13. There are certain actions that get you out of Islam. Prostrating/Venerating an idol is an act of shirk. One can commit shirk through actions, not just in beliefs. As for beliving that the eye can fend off evil, you are putting your faith in a talisman/charm, which is the basis of whichcraft, is haram and kufr. "Suleiman (Solomon) did not disbelieve, but the devils disbelieved teaching men magic" (2:102) Reciting Surah Falak will protect you, not an ancient pagan symbol. Total Verses: 5 Revealed At: MAKKA 113.001 YUSUFALI: Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn PICKTHAL: Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the Daybreak SHAKIR: Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn, 113.002 YUSUFALI: From the mischief of created things; PICKTHAL: From the evil of that which He created; SHAKIR: From the evil of what He has created, 113.003 YUSUFALI: From the mischief of Darkness as it overspreads; PICKTHAL: From the evil of the darkness when it is intense, SHAKIR: And from the evil of the utterly dark night when it comes, 113.004 YUSUFALI: From the mischief of those who practise secret arts; PICKTHAL: And from the evil of malignant witchcraft, SHAKIR: And from the evil of those who blow on knots, 113.005 YUSUFALI: And from the mischief of the envious one as he practises envy. PICKTHAL: And from the evil of the envier when he envieth. SHAKIR: And from the evil of the envious when he envies
  14. You very well know nobody actually touches the stone. Secondly, about the black stone, kissing it is not equal to believing that it can protect you because you kissed it. Charms, talismans, and the likes is magic, beliving, participating, or encouraging magic is kufr. Read the quran.
  15. I don't know about this, although I do know is that symbolism is something that is often associated with superstitions and magic, so It's kinda instinctual that I stand away from theses things. I know in turkey they sell the eye in different accessories, and although many people just like the design and the way it looks, but culturally it's often associate with shirk beliefs such as that eye being able to protect you. They end up putting their faith in an object and they somehow feel protected when they wear it, and needless to say it's like the pagans who touch their status thinking they will be protected during their journey or w/e. wiki pretty creepy. especially when we know people such as the masons or the sorcerers use symbols for magic. May Allah protect us from any form of hidden shirk.
  16. I believe Allah's Mercy is greater than any of my sins, and I believe that nobody can answer my dua except Allah. The Quran is clear about it. No dua in the Quran was ever sent to other than Allah, and no sin makes you too distant from Allah's Mercy in answering dua, since Allah even answered Shaytan's request. This whole concept of calling on intermediaries instead of Allah is against monotheism.

  17. I don't associate myself with a particular sect. Just doing what Allah has asked us to do. Please, let's be honest in our approach ok? Consider me an ignorant person who's just asking questions to make sense of things. Can you help me? Is there sahih shia narrations where Ali spoke of Muhsin? Or narrations that Fatima was comforted by Ali after the event? My other request is, why would people invent praises to the sunni personalities, and what would it serve politically at that time?
  18. So why are you not silent when people praise Yazid, maybe they were calling on Allah through Muhammad, just like you call Ali and expect us to believe that you are calling Allah. There are certain things that do not need intention to be called haram, such as making dua to other than Allah, bowing down to a statue, fasting for Vishnu, paying zakat to glorify Buddha, saying that one is god, insulting Allah, etc. Don't compare creation to the Creator. Allah does what He wills, while you are to respect the commands of Allah. If He says it is shirk to call on other than Him, you shut up and obey. Instead of asking a question to why Allah does things the way He does, you should have asked "Why did Allah create" it would have summed up the position that we are not to Question Allah's ways, rather we will be the ones questioned by Allah. Stick to the quran and leave your cultural practices and stop mixing Islam with superstitions derived from a culture that was exposed to polytheists all over it's history.
  19. 1. Wrong verse 43:84 And He it is Who is God in the heavens and God in the earth; and He is the Wise, the Knowing. 43:85 And blessed is He Whose is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and with Him is the knowledge of the hour, and to Him shall you be brought back. 43:86 And those whom they call upon besides Him have no authority for intercession, but he who bears witness of the truth and they know (him). 2. Intercession here is "shafaat" which means Mercy, just like one says to his someone who is in power over him "ishfe2 3alaye", meaning "have mercy". What this verse means is that those who call on other than Allah cannot grant you mercy/cannot save you, and only Allah can save, therefore those who bear witness to the truth will be granted shafaat of Allah. I don't care who holds this position. the fact is you're using sectarianism as an argument. The sons of Jacob were next to him and asked him to make dua to Allah. Jacob wasn't physically absent. They didn't make dua to Jacob so that he makes dua to Allah. So please, stop exaggerating and twisting theses verses. 4:64 We sent no messenger save that he should be obeyed by Allah's leave. And if, when they had wronged themselves, they had but come unto thee and asked forgiveness of Allah, and asked forgiveness of the messenger, they would have found Allah Forgiving, Merciful. 12:97 They said: O our father! Ask forgiveness of our sins for us, for lo! we were sinful. Same. They didn't invoke their father in his absence, nor did Allah command anyone to call on the Prophet. Read the verse, it says "if they had come to you". It doesn't say, "if they have invoked you". Pathetic really. It is called sihr (magic) to invoke the jinns and the angels. Allah equated magic with kufr. It follows that you can't call on people who are in the realms of the unseen, except Allah, which he has commanded over and over in his Quran that you people have twisted and ignored time after time. Solomon disbelieved not; but the devils disbelieved, teaching mankind magic ... 2:102 And when My servants question thee concerning Me, then surely I am nigh. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he crieth unto Me. So let them hear My call and let them trust in Me, in order that they may be led aright. 2:186 Allah says he listens to your dua, and He COMMANDS you to make dua to him. Allah equates making dua to trust, meaning if you don't direct your dua to him, you do not trust Him, no matter what your excuse is. [shakir 21:28] He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they do not intercede except for him whom He approves and for fear of Him they tremble. Again, shafaa has been translated as intercession, while if you ask a person who reads arabic what the verse means, it means that Allah knows everything, and Allah won't have mercy except to those who believe and fear him. It doesn't mean anything else at all, especially not like it is portrayed in the translation. Please don't use a word you fail to understand it's meaning. I don't care if there's a hadith that says salams reach him or not. Allah has commanded us to do salams to the Prophet, but He never said we can invoke him. The matter weither it reaches him or not doesn't render invoking him permissible. Again, stop twisting the verses like you want them to mean. Does the answer change the fact that you have been commanded to call on Allah only? No it doesn't. You refuse to differentiate tawassul with calling on the dead. You think it's the same thing, while they are not. So in other words, kuffars and sinful Muslims are alive in their graves. This destroys the literal meaning of the verse often misused for intercession that says "martyrs are not dead, they are alive". Here alive is therefore a metaphor, for even kuffars are alive in their graves, otherwise they won't be punished and they cannot be questioned.
  20. The examples cited were never made a ritual. They were reactions done on the spot, without planning to do them before hand. It's like comparing someone fainting unintentionally due to severe stress and someone causing stress to himself intentionally in order to faint. 2 different things. Exaggeration is futile.
  21. Shall I take (other) gods in place of Him when, if the Beneficent should wish me any harm, their intercession will avail me naught, nor can they save? (Qur'an 36:23) ---- Now let me remind you that all cases you used to infer that the prophets asked forgiveness to others, they were alive on earth. Nobody ever invoked them, alive or after they passed away. Read them again, they asked the prophets directly when they were in front of him physically, stop exagerating the events and inventing stuff out of thin air. "When they oppressed themselves, would they have come to you (i.e. MUHAMMAD) to ask Allah's forgiveness for them, they surely would have found Allah an acceptor of their repentance and the Most Merciful." "They said,"O, our father! Ask forgiveness for our sins, for we were really at fault." "He said," Soon I shall ask my LORD to forgive you all, for HE is indeed often forgiving and Merciful"" ---- Intercession is not what you do. What you do is making an idol out of a saint. You can't call someone and oblige him to be your intercessor. Firstly, we already said it is something that happens at the day of judgement. Secondly, Allah appoints the intercessors, you can't just put someone between you and Allah like that, at any time, anywhere. Thirdly, the intercessors will make dua to Allah, you're not making dua to intercessors and then making dua to Allah. Fourthly, the verses in the Quran prohibit us from making dua to other than Allah, because dua is an act of worship just like salah. Fiftly, Allah said thesespeople you call upon can't hear you. Six, Allah said that even if they could hear you, they can't help you. All we see is that you refuse to accept Allah's clear words, repeated over and over again. ---- Now, I want someone to answer this simple question: Are kuffars getting punished and questioned in their graves?
  22. First off, I'm not a "wahabi", so there's no point in using sectarianism in your approach. Secondly, nobody said that the imams are seeking revenge, rather, my question is why did Ali stay silent when a grave injustice was committed against the daughter of the Prophet? How can you put this together with the fact that Hussein didn't remain silent? In one case an Imam stayed silent to oppression, in another case he used his sword. Explain. Did Ali express what happened to Muhsin? Did he express his grief? Did he comfort his wife? Important questions.
  23. 2:165 2:186 4:116 4:117 6:14 6:19 6:40 6:41 6:56 6:63 6:64 6:71 7:28 7:29 7:37 7:55 7:191 7:192 7:194 7:196 7:197 10:18 10:66 10:104 10:106 11:101 13:14 13:16 15:96 16:20 16:27 16:53 16:86 17:22 17:39 17:42 17:67 18:14 18:15 18:52 19:48 22:12 22:13 22:62 22:71 22:73 23:117 26:213 27:62 28:62 28:64 28:74 28:88 29:65 30:13 30:35 30:52 31:32 32:4 34:22 35:14 35:40 39:3 39:8 39:38 39:43 39:49 40:12 40:14 40:20 40:60 40:66 40:74 41:47 41:48 43:86 46:4 46:5 50:26 72:18 72:20 72:22 74:48 Ignore the Quran more. As for "The problem is your god is so inferior that you are threatened when we speak of Ali's (as) attributes your faith in your god is shaken." My God says this: 22:73 O mankind! A similitude is coined, so pay ye heed to it: Lo! those on whom ye call beside Allah will never create a fly though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly took something from them, they could not rescue it from it. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought! 40: 60 And your Lord says: "Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer): but those who are too arrogant to serve Me will surely find themselves in Hell - in humiliation!" End of discussion. The verse is clear. May Allah destroy those who disrespect his unity and his attributes by giving a share of his deity to others. To those who read this thread with a sincere thirst for truth, look at the evidence and judge according to what Allah has said, not according to what people, culture, stories have been narrated.Look at how they give asma' al husna to other than Allah by their practice. Look at how they believe that Ali is nearer to us than Allah, when Allah has said "we are nearer to him than his jugular vein". Read the verses, don't do what this guy is doing by twisting, inventing concepts, and ignoring the Book of guidance. Look at how he hasn't given one dua in the Quran when other than Allah was invoked. Look at how shaytan, the most evil of beings, didn't invoke other than Allah and Allah has granted his wish, thus destroying the basis of the idea that a sinner cannot invoke Allah or that Allah will not answer them. Look at the Quran and judge accordingly. 1. Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us: For Thou art the All-Hearing, the All-knowing [2:127] 2. Our Lord! Make of us Muslims, bowing to Thy (Will), and of our progeny a people Muslim, bowing to Thy (will); and show us our place for the celebration of (due) rites; and turn unto us (in Mercy); for Thou art the Oft-Returning, Most Merciful [2:128] 3. Forgive, then, those who turn in Repentance, and follow Thy Path; and preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire! [40:7] 35.
