  1. Syed Asad Jafri has a really good series this year for shahr Ramadhan as well. Just look up Asad Jafri 2019 on YouTube.
  2. That's good to hear, I was of the mindset that subcontinent culture was less open minded than others. I hope there are many more examples of this intermixing and marriage.
  3. One time during lailatul qadr, the sheikh at the Shia center led a 100 rakat prayer and it looked pretty much like this.
  4. It looks like there's an eye on the side of her head
  5. @notme According to Ayatollah Sistani, only intentional vomiting invalidates fast; however even if you feel vomit coming involuntarily, you should try to hold it as best as you can.
  6. I thought only intentional vomiting... will have to look it up. Thank you!
  7. So does my fast count if I fasted yesterday even though I was terribly sick(throwing up, migraine, chills)? And should I be fasting today even though I am feeling much better (still a little coughing and runny nose though)? I made my intention NOT to fast but now I feel a little guilty because I thought I would be feeling as sick as I was yesterday.
  8. I got a notification for maghrib prayer and the adhan played, but I have not gotten any notification for other prayers and no adhan. How do I fix that? Also one request, in the Qur'an section, can you please put the number of the ayah in English numbers (I know it's not called English numbers lol but what else to call them) as well as Arabic. Also, would it be possible to have some kind of bookmarker that saves your place?
  9. downloaded it today and just sort of skimmed through it so far but mashaAllah it looks great and super useful! May Allah bless you tons and tons.
  10. Gold or silver would be nice and festive, but probably hard to pull off.
  11. I do freelance for the past 1.5 years so pros: being passionate about the work I do, brings me peace and joy, flexibility, working from home, improve my skills. Cons: irregular jobs/payment, self promotion, having to ask people "where my money at??" Feeling bad about setting my prices even though I under price myself, competitive market (sometimes).
  12. Yes he does. I only listened to about half but he made some good points. When we have a show like this that portrays Muslims as just as messed up as everyone else, it gives the message that Islam is not the answer to the problems humans struggle with. Muslims are supposed to have it figured out at least a little bit more than others... Otherwise how can we claim it's the key? I think that's the agenda. To show non Muslims that there's nothing to this Islam thing, there is no moral superiority, it's just as watered down as most Christianity these days. Seriously, what benefit does it do anyone to show that a supposedly typical Muslim indulged in every sin under the sun? That we have no self control, no obedience to God's laws, yet we are still "good?" Another effect is that Muslims who may already be on the edge of committing these sins will feel permission is given to them now because apparently Ramy says it's okay. There is a wisdom in Allah's telling us not to publicize our misdeeds. Sleeping with a married woman during the month of Ramadhan? Yeah don't given this show any of your support.
  13. I don't like the feeling of being judged on how I take care of my child. Hopefully motherhood will give me a chance to build some confidence in myself and my decisions. inshaAllah I don't allow my stubborn and rebellious tendencies to prevent me from making right decisions.
  14. I think the circumstances surrounding different events will generate different levels of reaction. Where it happened, how it happened, who did it, who the victims are, etc. And naturally, we as Muslims are going to be more vocal about something that happens to our own, especially when there is a lack of empathy towards Muslim lives in general. We could go on and on comparing how people have reacted to certain tragedies differently. Last month 130 Muslims in Mali were massacred, I don't think I saw anything about that on Shiachat or many other places for that matter. Just as tragic, but no discussion. That could be for many reasons... maybe we are all hypocrites, I don't know.
