  1. Thank God we don't have one of those psychos who think Malala and her father are CIA agents because they were pictured with Richard Holbrooke. But okay, let's address the elephant in the room. How exactly is the US allegedly using her to promote its interests? I'm all ears. (salam)
  2. Great work Mu3lam! Really appreciate it. Though I think you can probably omit the superfluous details. For example in the tutorial about how to create a hyperlink showing how to copy the URL and pasting it wasn't necessary. Keep up the good work. JazakAllah. :) (salam)
  3. And you did not read my answer carefully enough. Imam Baqir's [a] maternal grandfather was Imam Hasan [a] and paternal grandfather was Imam Hussain [a]. He was a descendant of both.
  4. This is the verse: إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian. [15:9] I think the verse is open to several interpretations, don't you think?

  6. You seemed to be casting doubts on Malala's motives in your previous post. That's not the same as being manipulated. If her message is being manipulated that's not her problem. Her message is solid and one that needs much promotion. That's the only reason anyone who supports her does so. Education. End of story. Sometimes, just sometimes, let's learn to shut out the conspiracy theories. Agreed. But you don't have to teach kids that they need to sort problems, that are not their to take care of, out with AK-47s either.
  7. ^Why? That was pretty creative, and brilliant satire if you've been following the Saudi campaign to lift the ban on female drivers.

  9. I don't see a difference between the Taliban and this mindset then. They teach young children in Madressas that violence is Jihad and this mindset advocates the promotion of violence by young girls of influence. Way too similar.
  10. Oh but the subsequent Imams [a] weren't from Imam Hussain's [a] bloodline alone. Imam Baqir's [a] mother was Imam Hasan's [a] daughter. Case closed. If your question was why the Imamah went to Imam Hussain [a] instead of going to a son of Imam Hasan [a] then answering that is kind of pointless. Can you tell me why Nabuwwah went to Prophet Haroon [a] after Prophet Musa [a] instead of going to Prophet Musa's [a] son? It was the Divine Will. It's as simple as that, and there's always hikmah behind Allah's will. Do you see Imam Hasan's [a] progeny living today? Imam Hussain's [a]? There's your answer. (salam)
  11. I'm sorry, but no. Malala is speaking for herself and a teenage girl absolutely has no business trying to fight/incite violence against bearded savages. Think about it. Would you prefer a Malala who says she wishes to put a bullet through the Talib's head or that she wants to stab him to death because 'he attacked her'?
  12. Have you been to Swat to be able to make such a bold claim? There are good English-medium schools everywhere. Her father owned and ran a chain of schools in the area.

  14. There are shahadats of Aimmah [a] in Rabi ul Awwal, Rajab and Shawwal. Yet we 'celebrate' in these months and think of them as auspicious for weddings. Okay, maybe out of respect you can avoid major celebrations until Arba'een [Chehlum of Imam Hussain [a]] but it's nothing to cause discord in the family over, in my honest opinion. There's absolutely NO reason, religiously speaking, to extend the mourning period beyond that. Last week of December is way beyond that date. Besides, it's not like you're getting married yourself. Walk in, congratulate the couple and their parents, talk with a few people, eat and walk out. End of story. Can you identify anything sinful in doing that? Me neither. (salam)
  15. Umar is age in Arabic (as well as in Urdu). If you wish to ask someone how old they are in Arabic, you ask them: 'Kam umrak?' - 'كم عمرك؟'
  16. Good heavens guys, how hard can it possibly be to stick to a topic? The point of the thread, which many of you seem to have missed, is to discuss an idea and not individuals. I've cleaned up the thread for now but if I see this or any other threads being derailed by the same people for the same reason one more time, suspensions will be handed out immediately to everyone involved - no questions asked. Don't complain that I didn't warn you before taking action.

  18. (wasalam), I know it's late, but your post count says you're still new so welcome to ShiaChat. We apologize profusely for the inconvenience. We've had a recent influx of spammers and trolls that pushed us to enforce some stringent measures which unfortunately affect all our members. But we had to take these steps to maintain the quality of the forum [and it seems to be working, Alhumdulillah]. The new rules state that after your first 10 active posts, the authorization/preview restriction will be lifted [an active post is one which has already been approved by a moderator]. You still have 2 more posts to go to reach that threshold. You should also know that not every post you make will be approved. If it is off-topic/breaks one of the forum rules, it will not be approved. You also can not like any posts or vote in polls until you are an advanced member. To become an advanced member you have to make at least 50 posts. You can view the complete announcement, with the new rules, here: http://www.shiachat.com/forum/index.php?/forum-0/announcement-15-attention-new-restrictions-on-all-members/ (salam)
  19. There's an announcement in the al-Mahdi [ajf] forum which you probably didn't read: The issue has been raised too many times in the past, and each and every argument debunked several times in threads that went on for 20+ pages. As of today, 18th October 2013, you and others from your cult are still not welcome on the forum. Thread locked.
  20. Thank you for this. Are you, or anyone else, interested in voluntarily writing more similar guides? We're looking for such helpful folks. :)
  21. Sorry, we have no place for such stereotypical, racist and futile threads on ShiaChat. Also, yukapuka2 consider this your final verbal warning. Start acting like a normal person or we'll be forced to take sterner action. Thread locked. (salam)
  22. (salam), You sound like villagers in Pakistan and Bangladesh who believe that the ultimate Raziq is Allah [well no doubt about that obviously] so they can and should, as a result, make as many babies as their gonads permit. It's normal for men to have 8-10 children per wife [excluding stillbirths and miscarriages] who continue to starve and struggle with preventable and curable diseases like measles, dengue, malaria, cholera and scabies for the rest of their poverty-stricken lives. After all, God will provide for them. Allah of course does provide for mankind, we're helpless without Him, but not in the sense that burgers and 'pure' medicines shall rain from the sky. We're not living in frikkin' Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs (and Paracetamols!). -_- He gave us intelligence, and the modern medicines developed today are a product of the God-gifted intelligence. He has essentially provided for us. If someone says no to medicines (and vaccines) he's basically saying no to Allah's help and acting like a complete lunatic. Think long and hard about this statement in the Qur'an: "[...] surely Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change their own condition [...]" (13:11) And then look up the Arabic proverb (which is often said to be inspired from an incident in the Prophet's (pbuh) life): Trust in God but tie your camel.
  23. (salam) Shi`a = follower. What does a follower do? Follow and obey his leaders (Prophet [pbuh] and Imams [a]). There are tons of traditions that accentuate the significance of mourning Imam Hussain [a] and his family. You are asked to remember and mourn. Period. How you do it is completely up to you as long as you don't do something Haram (like, physically hurting yourself so much it's no longer mourning but madness or marring the reputation of our creed around the world). Rest assured, you will find no ahadith that specifically recommend hitting your chest to mourn Imam Hussain [a] nor any one that says you've exited the madh'hab if you fail to do matam. The consensus among 'ulema is that azadari (in the form it exists today) has helped maintain and further the message of Imam Hussain [a]. The elimination of matam, according to them, would mean the elimination of the sacrifice of Imam Hussain [a] from the hearts and minds of the people. As long as Matam exists to serve this purpose, of keeping the message of Imam Hussain [a] alive, you are to perform it as a duty. The moment Matam turns into something else (Riyah, competition etc.), it shall be akin to King Kong stupidly beating his chest. (salam)
  24. (salam), Main ne haal main aik movie, 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' dekhi jo ke Mohsin Hamid ki isi naam ki kitab par mabni hai. Is movie ke aakhir main lead actor aik shair parhta hai jo ke yeh hai: Ye Mehr-e-Tabaan Se Ja Kay Keh Do Ke Apni Kirnain Sambhal Ke Rakh le, Main Apne Sehra Ke Zarre Zarre Ko Khud Chamakna Sikha Raha Hun! یہ مہر تاباں سے جا کے کہ دو کہ اپنی کرنیں سمبھال کے رکھ لے،میں اپنے صحرا کے زررے زررے کو خد چمکنا سکھا رہا ہوں! Main ne yeh shair Google kia to kuch logon ke mutabiq yeh shair Iqbal ka hai. Kya koi is ki tasdeeq kar sakta hai? Shukria.
