      Salam Sister

Nothing has changed :) I've just gotten (much) older and more determined in my pursuit of reform. Religious denominations don't mean anything to me, but that's a very personal opinion, and shouldn't sway anyone from their own chosen path.

  7. from hillary to al saud, looks like nobody's in the mood for revolution in Syria

  8. Looks like you're old school on SC. Welcome back in that case :)

  9. on why you're really doing ziarah. i know it's not exactly Hajj, but in a way visiting our Holy Imam's is a sort of pilgrimage. you're returning to your roots, to discover your inner self and the reason you exist, and purpose. Try to read about the lives of the Pure ones you are visiting. The social, cultural and political aspects. Ask questions as much as you can and cry, cry your heart out.

  10. Ammar Nakshawani..yes he's quite good at what he does, may Allah reward him. I'm sure it will be a very eye-opening (and inshallah heart-opening) experience. Try to pre-pare as much as you can before you set off. I made the mistake a few years back and went unprepared to Hajj. Big mistake. If you haven't already read Ali Shari'ati's book 'Hajj' over and over. It will help you focus your thoughts

  11. Allah (swt) and go as soon as you can. If you do go anytime soon, please pray for me so that I get the chance as well.

  12. Wa'alaikum al salam Sister,

Yes I am Iraqi, but left when was very young. I've only been back once in the past 30 years. I'm desperate to go myself, but the opportunity hasn't arisen yet. But I've got enough relatives who come and go on a weekly basis to know that it's safe enough, and organised enough (if you've never been it's best if you take someone alon...

otherwise, you can try books by Seyyed Hossein Nasr in english, who has reviewed esteemed scholars like Mulla Sadra Shirazi, Ibn Sina, etc.

I think Shaheed Mutahhari also wrote a book on Ma'ad which is supposed to be r...
