    BAMYA
    1 pound fresh or frozen okra
    1 pound stewing lamb or beef.
    2 tsp oil
    1 16oz can tomato sauce
    3 cloves garlic sliced
    ½ cup lemon juice
    ½ tsp salt
    3 cups of water
    Wash the meat and sauté it for 5 minutes. Add the garlic and water and tomato sauce and simmer on low heat for 40 minutes, till the meat is tender. Add the okra and salt. Cook in the sauce for 20 minutes. Add the lemon juice and simmer for 10 more minutes.
    Serve it with white plain rice.
    SHORBAT 3ADIS-Lental soup
    1 cup red lentils
    1/4 cup rice
    1 large onion chopped
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tbs. curry powder
    1/2 tsp. ground cumin
    6 cups boiling water
    3 tbs. olive oil
    Place the lentils and rice in a bowl and wash in warm water. In a nonstick pot, saute the onions in oil and add the spices. Pour the hot water over the onions and simmer for 5 minutes.
    Strain the lentils and rice and add the the pot mixture. Bring to boil and simmer for 25 minutes. Skim the scum that develops on top. Stir the lentil to make sure it doees not stick to the bottom of the pot. Add the salt and more spices if you like. You could fry some onions and add them to the soup.

    Maye Laham
    1 pound lamb shank or stewing lamb
    2 medium size onions sliced
    2 cans chickpeas
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. Arabic spice (mixture of clove, cinnamon, allspice & black pepper)
    6 cups water
    Wash the lamb and saute it in a the pot for 5 minutes. Add onions, water, salt & spices. Bring the pot to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour or until lamb is tender & falls off the bone.
    Drain the chickpeas & add to the soup. simmer for 20 minutes and add more salt if needed.
    If you are using dry chickpeas, soak them overnight in water. Drain the water and add to the meat and onions to cook together for an hour.

    Salam alaykum!
    So basically, I help run this club on campus and we are in dire need of someone who's good at using photoshop and can help us to make posters. We're specifically looking for a shia because our events are catered towards those kind of events. It wouldn't even be that many...we're just looking for someone who can make an event poster for our major events (so like 4 maybe). I know you SCers are talented in many ways !
    Ofcourse, you will be rewarded...with THAWAB :) And lots of prayers from your fellow shia brothers and sisters :)
    If anyone is able to help out, please let me know!

    TMA has only been around for about 6 years (going to 7 i think). Anyways, they are doing their best to be active...I mean like Mash'Allah the group started out years ago in one location and now its spread around other Universities in Southern Ontario! And, they are also located in Dearborn, MI...
    Insh'Allah they will contact you for events that they'll host ..=)
