  1. I am looking for the source of the phrase "la hawla wala quwwata illa billah". Is it part of an aya in the Quran? I am having trouble locating it in any verse. Also I have seen many translations of the phrase, with much confusion about the word "hawla". Any details and explanations on the topic is appreciated!
  2. Thanks for the reply. What about qada prayers and the niyya for that? Any more opinions would be appreciated.
  3. I have some questions regarding the niyya (intention) that is done before some acts. Any informed opinion would be appreciated. 1. For the niyya before prayer, is stating the number of rakats (units) a must? If so how would it be said? Or would it be sufficient to say for example: "usali salat al fajr qurbatan ilallah ta3ala" (I perform the morning prayer, seeking nearness to Allah) without stating the rakats since I assume simply by stating what prayer you are performing it is understood how many rakats it has. 2. What is the recommended niyya before starting wudu? 3. What is the recommended niyya before starting ghusl for example for janaba?
  4. Whenever the Quran is recited, it is done so in a rhythmic melodic tone. Does anyone know the reasons for this and why this is done? I dont think there are any rules to it since every recitor has a different distinct tone. Any feedback would be appreciated.
  5. "Is not He (best) Who answereth the wronged one when he crieth unto Him and removeth the evil, and hath made you viceroys of the earth? Is there any God beside Allah? Little do they reflect!" (27:62) I hear this verse recited on many occasions specifically in Shia mosques during occasions like Ashura and Ramadan. Does anyone know the reason why this verse in particular is always mentioned?
  6. (salam) Bro Your-Best-Friend I cant read your post. Anyone with more info on the topic please post links. Lets keep it drama free.
  7. (salam) Often when the azan or iqamah is recited in a mosque or any other place, I see many worshippers doing sajdah and reciting something.. is anyone familiar with what acts is recommended to do when you hear the azan? Some also stand and put their right hand on their head and recite something.. I would like to know what is recited in both instances.
  8. Dua Ahad is nice. Anyone know some other nice short duas to recite on different occasions.. like after salah
  9. (salam) Whats your favorite thing to recite after finishing your daily salat prayers..... or after any other specific event?
  10. Thank you for the reply. Anyone have more links or information on the issue? Does Sayyid Sistani talk about the issue?
  11. This question is specifically for men. Has anyone heard of the "Istibara" method of tahara purification? Is it wajib obligatory for men to do it after urination or are there other ways purifying yourself? Also I heard that it is makrooh (not recommended) to urinate while standing up, and a sunnah for men to sit while you urinate, is this true? Any links and advice would be useful.
  12. He is a humble man I must admit. I didnt know he went to Medina already? I thought he arrived in Saudi on Monday and started Hajj immediately?
