I have played around to use it to make videos and a handful of videos with Luma AI but nothing conceptual. If I had more time I would explore further with videos but I am super busy at this point in my life.

Karbala trip - how to pray
-
Keep up the good work and I pray your travels bring you many benefits. To learn to pray recite the part of the prayer you are trying to learn 3-4 times a day. Once that part is memorized you can move on to another part of the prayer.

I don't live in Texas (anymore) however I am in the USA. I was recently talking with a woman who works in the nonprofit sector. She told me that her organization helps people with felonies get jobs and that just last week she had helped someone with several felonies get jobs. One interesting thing I learned from her is that companies that hire people with felonies get nice tax breaks. My advice to the brother is to get a social worker to help him understand which organizations he needs to work with to get placed in one of these companies that gets tax breaks for hiring felons.

I am not surprised. This is happening around the country. https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2025/nov/20/spokane-valley-councilwoman-says-shes-a-proud-isla/ I am not really worried though because it's honestly nothing new and my faith is in Allah.

I went to a BIPOC poetry slam over the weekend and it inspired me to give it a shot. Lol. Apparently, I missed the memo that only the chosen people get a microphone Too preoccupied writing my own vision statement to ask for permission Fortunately, I lost myself and found myself up here anyways Don’t worry about if I am the right kind of marginalized woman To put my foot down and raise my fist for Indigenous perspectives in the field of psychology Just follow the logic. Validity Some people get canceled for words against one group The culture divides on words against that group Here is a new set of word rules for this group Qwoted banned me from talking to reporters When I served my opinion that alarmed their supporters For as long as I can remember I have been oh so dangerous I am the baddie who stands for the oppressed Muslim women are so oppressed Says CNN, Fox News, and some bots on Twitter, Its an upside down ruse by Super Imperialists Funny how the left and the right can agree on one swing When it comes to repeating the same boring things So say goodnight to the bad guy Tony Montana I am staying up late studying my shadow Reclaiming the term terrorist like an Amber Rose Walk I may have been a good American But the matriarch left me for a rock and roll life style She wanted her freedom and independence I wanted to chase her but I didn’t know how to run in high heels A conference of birds tweeted Educate yourself if you want to be invited to better parties I studied psychology for so many years my head hurt Because no one taught me alternative views Or what kind of identity crisis people suffer When their culture is stolen, African Americans and Native American tribes Yet they called me a doctor because I was Institutionalized in San Francisco I cried out, “Where is my teacher?” For crying out loud we have a mental health crisis ISIS was killing Muslims and sparing the colony No more learning from elders They locked the gate and threw away the key How much of your soul do you lose if you abandon your faith? A trick to pick a lock Get a Malaysian VPN A few months later get a Mexican VPN One VPN gets canceled get another one Uncle Sam kept pulling me down from Drinking from the fountain Modern day book burning is blocking Iranian websites Five years after the Iranian revolution I was playing in the courtyard of an Ayatollah Splashing around in his fish pond This was childhood during the Iran-Iraq War While people elsewhere were clutching their pearls I grew up believing the people could rise up and do anything God Willing Am I just supposed to follow the mainstream news the Axis of Evil narrative Without raising my voice for alternate views Isn’t being a judge about hearing both crews? Looking for ancestral lines Spitting lines on a poetry slam Spreading Iranian poetry like strawberry jam Some think I have an authority problem What problems? There are just solutions May they know authority especially His own

Does anyone know any Muslim Shia psychologist?
Essentials123 replied to Meedy's topic in Social/Family/Personal
I only know of female Shia psychologists such as: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/najmeh-hourmanesh-millcreek-ut/167304 https://www.linkedin.com/in/sabnum-dharamsi/ https://shiamuslimcouncil.org/member/layla-naji-mental-wellness/ I would recommend reaching out to the largest Shia mosques in your area and asking them if they can recommend a male therapist. I did this one time and that is how I got the second person on the list above. May Allah make it easier for you. Hang in there; you are worth it. -
It's true people learn more on the job. From an intellectual level, I think university is useless especially with the World Wide Web etc, however some people have to go through the motions to meet the state licensing requirements for what they do. A couple things that frustrate me about the college application process in United States are: 1) There are 6 categories that fold into a successful college app, one of which is AP/IB test scores. Foreign Language is one course students can AP test in however there are no AP tests in United States for Arabic or Farsi. This gives preference in college admissions to students who study French, Latin, Mandarin, Spanish, Italian, German, and one other language (I think Portuguese but I could be wrong) because there are AP tests in these languages. 2) A second of the 6 categories is community service. In theory I understand not wanting to give preference to educating people who only care about themselves. However, for the purposes of college applications, students who have volunteer service hours that get documented by an official organization have preference. This means if I go to an organization and volunteer 3 hours a week to teach children to read then I bolster my college app, however if I spend 3 hours a week for a year tutoring my younger brother or sister who is 10 years younger than me it does nothing for my college app. The same goes with the elderly... if I volunteer my Sunday afternoons to play board games with the elderly at a nursing home and do crafts with them to keep them company I bolster my college application but if I do the same for my own grandparents it does not bolster my college apps.

That’s a good deal to get full pension at 47. My brother is in the HVAC union, but he is suggesting his sons maybe go into electrician union, plumbing union, or elevator operator union. He told me elevator operator union is very good because it is a higher paid trade and while it does require alot of travel the working days are less. in counseling the youth we need to think which jobs won’t be taken by AI. Trade jobs definitely won’t. My job in counseling definitely won’t, probably most medical doctors are safe. I keep trying to add to the list. Definitely would not recommend software engineer anymore. Studying in the seminary is good. Nice to have one students in every family. Shia are blessed because we have to reason and can’t depend on AI to think for us. it’s important to talk to kids young about getting married. Even before they are old enough to be married there should be years of discussion so the idea takes root.

Salaam, I agree many young couples could go back and forth between their parents houses. I am all for people getting married young. I do not advocate for divorce at all however working in the counseling field time and time again I come in to situations where people spend 5-8 years in relationships without getting married then the woman may panic when she is in her mid thirties and it is time pressed for her to have babies. I would advocate for rushing the marriage and praying for the best. Even if the marriage ends in divorce it is better than these 5-8 year relationships and at least people end up experiencing having children. Union trade is what some people I know are planning on doing. It seems like an ok career path because instead of not getting paid in college they are getting paid a low wage the first 2 years. It gets better in years 3-5 and then at year 9 - 4 years past journey man the person can get a contractor's license and bid on union jobs I believe. One thing I have heard is frustrating is once making $80 an hour at year 5, a person has to pay $20 an hour into a 401k plan and they only get it back if they work many years. Some people would rather invest their own money or enjoy it when they are younger.
-
I agree with you mostly. I was saying to some people what a waste of money it is to have a boy studying at the university and providing money for room and board every month. Then the girl's parents are doing the same thing. While she is in college they are spending money on her room and board each month. Instead why don't the two families pull their resources and the young couple can have an apartment and groceries plus other expenses to live on. As it is both the boy and girl's family can only provide such that the boy shares his apartment with another male and the girl with another woman. Instead they could be each other's roommate and spouse. While it makes sense to me perhaps the woman's family doesn't think it is traditional to pay half the cost of the household in a marriage, even though they are already paying half the cost of the household for their daughter to live at the university and have a female roommate.

Salaam, I have no idea if it is possible to find out information about a minor scholar who passed away in Iran in 1989 but I thought I would give it a shot to see if anyone could help me. I tried to find out more information about the person on ChatGPT last night and was unable to. In particular I would like to know what books if any that this scholar wrote and where his burial place is. In an effort to figure out more information I will share what I know: His name is Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Mortazavi Sadrol Hofaz. He was a student of Ayatollah Abdol Karim Haeri. He became the principle "of the second most important madraseh in the city of Rey." Supposedly, the books he has written are in the archives of the Rey Madreseh and his first son is named Abdol Karim after his mentor. Picture of the scholar is attached. Thanks for any help or direction that can be provided.
