  1. Thanks. But I meant places the brother can go and pray within a one hour window. During his lunch break hour. Places close to the tube station or reachable by a short train ride.
  2. AOA Does anyone know of a place a guy can pray zohar asr prayers in or near Old Street, London? A place open on weekdays (not just on Friday) between 2 to 4? Doesn't have to be a mosque, any quiet place will do. Close-ish to the tube station. Googled places but the listed mosques are only open on Friday. Thanks in advance.
  3. It doesn't matter if he has the highest character in the all the worlds...Look, even the Prophet (saww) wasn't meant to be the husband of every single woman, right? If it's meant to be it happens, and if it isn't meant to be, nada. So this girl and guy should think about it carefully. Life isn't a fairy tale Bollywood movie broadway musical. But it isn't a horror movie either.
  4. JazakAllah Khair for your post, but it would suit the purpose of the thread better if you could post the relevant hadith, rather than your personal summary of the events. It would seem that two characteristics of the Sufyani are his location (Sham) and the time of his uprising (the month of Rajab). Please post the hadith if you have any reference (and, to others, please avoid posting without ahadith in this thread. I'm trying to obtain impartial data from the Ahlulbayt all the Shia can agree on).
  5. Wasalam. Not exactly. More like ahadith helping us to recognize Truth and Falsehood by pointing out the characteristics of the Yamani, Sufyani and Khorasani. Pure hadith, no "he said, she said". Only what the Ahlulbayt (a.s) said . Also characteristics of the last age, the state of Islam's enemies and the state of the scholars. Because, as we all know, many many decievers will appear not only pretending to be Imam Mahdi (ajf) but pretending to be Yamani, Khorasani etc. How will we recognize them? And opposed to that, how will we recognize the CORRECT Yamani, Khorasani, Sufyani without data? Our approach just isn't scientific, we can't just blindly see what everyone else is doing and follow them. That in itself is a characteristic of the end times. InshaAllah I too will not be completely useless and post something. Waiyyakum, sister. I really hope this will help all of us inshaAllah. In fact I dedicate this thread and all contributions to it to Imam Mahdi (ajf) and may he reward all his Shia who try to dispel the fog of ignorance from their brethren/sisteren (<--- is that a word? Lol) Of course, by doing so I'm implying that anyone (troll, dissident or otherwise) who attempts to de-rail this thread with Fitna and personal opinion is not on board with pleasing Imam Mahdi (ajf). Team effort, people, the time is now. "O you who believe! be careful of (your duty to) Allah and be with the Truthful." (Surah Tawbah 9:119)
  6. InshaAllah you all are well. Due to the terrible infighting and near-blasphemies I recommend a sticky post be made on the ahadith pertaining to the signs of the Arrival of Imam al-Mahdi (ajf), especially regarding the Yamani, the Sufyani and the Khurasani, the state of the Ummah at the time before Zahoor, the state of the enemies of Islam at the time before Zahoor and the position of the scholars at the time before Zahoor. This way it will become obvious what is Truth and what is Falsehood. There are many hadith in the primary Hadith texts. I am sure there are knowledgeable and honourable members of the forum that can compile a list of characteristics the major players of the time just before the Zahoor (Arrival) will have. That would make a valuable Check List which less knowledgeable Shias can use to discriminate the Right people from the Wrong. "...We cast the truth against the falsehood, so that it breaks its head, and lo! it vanishes..."(Surah al-Anbiya 21:18) After all, if there is a hadith that proves or disproves the status of any claimant then it must be advertised and promoted as much as possible. It's a divine duty all servants of Imam Mahdi (ajf) are subject to. We *will* be asked about it. "And do not mix up the truth with the falsehood, nor hide the truth while you know." (Surah al-Baqarah 2:42) Of course, the purpose here is NOT to say ABC or XYZ is any of the important personalities. Conversely, it is also NOT to say that ABC or XYZ ISN'T any of the important personalities. The purpose is to be a voice of impartiality and neutrality simply listing the Hadith of the Prophet (s.a.w.w) and the Ahlul Bayt (a.s), in English, preferably also with the Arabic and definitely with the source. NO personal opinions, because what value is our opinion in front of the words of the Aal e Muhammad? I believe it will be of great benefit. We all know (or the information is easily available and is widely known) that the sun will rise from the west, there will be the call, the Nafs e Zakiyyah will be killed at the Kaaba, Hazrat Isa (a.s) will pray behind the Imam e Zamana (ajf). But more crucial is the knowledge with which the Shia must arm himself or herself to be able to discriminate Right from Wrong.
  7. God says in Qur'an about Pharaoh and his army "neither the sky nor the earth wept for them and they were not given chance " (Ad-Dukhan). Imam Muslim records in Tafsir of this Ayat, "When Husain was martyred, the Sky as well as the Earth wept on him and weepinq of the sky is its being red." (Sahih Muslim)
  8. Does any one have the rulings of the four jurisprudents of Ahlus Sunnah on the issue of Milad un Nabi? Please don't start debating whether it is Biddah or not. That's such a blegh argument. I just want the rulings. Don't get in a tizzy.
  9. http://www.bartdehrman.com/books.htm Purchase any of the above books and find out.
  10. Can someone name the Sahaba who was born of a Mutah marriage? Also a prominent lady performed Mutah, was it Asma bint Abu Bakr? I can't recall... Bhooka...Mutah is for WOMEN also. What do you mean it is only for "men"? Mutah is the most feminist thing in the world...it preserves the rights and chastity of women as well as men. Duh.
  11. Surah Tukathur: [Yusufali 102:5] Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!) [Yusufali 102:6] Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire! Alhamdolillah, Shia believe that Allah (swt) sent our religion through one who had "Ilm al Yaqeen" i.e. certainty. It is IMPOSSIBLE for any human to have a certain knowledge and to continue indulging in what is harmful to oneself. Like when Imam said "The world is like a snake, small children try to play with it while men (who know it's harm) stay away."

  13. Phone, write to the Egyptian Embassy, demand they show solidarity with people who want democracy. People are protesting worldwide for them, to the distress of Israel and her friends. 16. The Truth About Sahih Al-Bukharihttp://www.shiachat.com/forum/index.php?/topic/234981252-the-truth-about-sahih-al-bukhari/
  17. Of course I could search YouTube and Google for news items etc but I was wondering if anyone had a comprehensive collection (or a link to such a collection) of media items and facts about the tragic Muharram bombing 2009 and 2010 in Karachi. Any information about the victims? Where can I find their names from? We're making a tribute to them but have no idea how to find their names or to contact their families. http://www.pakspectator.com/karachi-ashura-blast-on-ma-jinnah-road/ http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8500077.stm
  18. Errr...not four, 7-9 years :- The Prophet (PBUH&HF) said: "The Mahdi will appear in my Ummah. He will appear for a minimum of 7 or a maximum of 9 years; at that time, my Ummah will experience a bountiful favor like never before. It shall have a great abundance of food, of which it need not save anything, and the wealth at that time is in great quantities, such that if a man asks the Mahdi to give him some, and the Mahdi (as) will say: Here! Take!"Sunan Ibn Majah, v2, Tradition #5083
  19. And what do Sunnis say? That the world will end after Imam Mahdi (ajf) will rule for four years!
  20. Um. No. I 'm not going to dig out the references for you, but I'm pretty certain most Shia laypeople are more aware of what will happen when Imam (ajf) arrives than the average Sunni scholar. I think you know better than others how every Shia no matter how irreligious prays for the Zahoor in every Majlis, while Sunnis...many of them aren't even aware of who what and why Imam Mahdi (ajf).
  21. It's not the Ummul Momineen:- Sahih Bukhari Volume 5, Book 57, Number 116: Narrated Abu Wail: When 'Ali sent 'Ammar and Al-Hasan to (the people of) Kufa to urge them to fight, 'Ammar addressed them saying, "I know that she (i.e. 'Aisha) is the wife of the Prophet in this world and in the Hereafter (world to come), but Allah has put you to test, whether you will follow Him (i.e. Allah) or her." http://www.shiachat.com/forum/index.php?/topic/554-tensiondislike-between-aisha-and-ali-as-from-sahih-bukhari-musli/
  22. Hazrat Hamza is Syed Ush-Shuhoda. Great. No issues. Who is the leader of the youths of Paradise? These youths, I assume, include the shohoda from previous battles. Will the son of the leader of the Ladies of Paradise be leading or someone else?
  23. Sahih Muslim, number 6228 http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_pUEuMkDTfI0/SldOB5nLl4I/AAAAAAAAAHA/ZIkDToKTlUE/s1600-h/6224+and+6225+and+6226a.JPG
  24. "Kafir" literally means "rejector", so by default everyone person who does not believe in Islam (every non-Muslim)is a "rejector" of truth i.e. "Kafir". BUT logic (and Quran) dictates that there is a difference between those who knowingly reject (i,e after proof has come to them or after knowledge has come to them) and those who unknowingly participate in this rejection. Like, there's a difference between Dawkins (who actively debates believers in God about atheism and propagates filthy anti-God doctrines) and a hillbilly holed up in a farm with no TV or internet. Surah al-Nisa 4:97-99:- Surely (as for) those whom the angels cause to die while they are unjust to their souls, they shall say: In what state were you? They shall say: We were weak in the earth. They shall say: Was not Allah's earth spacious, so that you should have migrated therein? So these it is whose abode is hell, and it is an evil resort. Except those who are (really) weak and oppressed - men, women, and children - who have no means in their power, nor (a guide-post) to their way.; So these, it may be, Allah will pardon them, and Allah is Pardoning, Forgiving. But this is where macisaac is right. We can't withdraw the label of kafir from non-Muslims. How can we know which kind of kafir are they? I think it's safe to say that while Allah (swt) alone knows who is worthy of being pardoned and who isn't, it makes sense not to write off every kafir as 100% irredeemable broken goods when we see (like Hindus who convert to Shia) that those who are weak but are given the means to knowledge. But until they believe in Allah (swt) they are still under the label "kafir".
