Assalamu aleykum respected brothers and sisters,
According to my understanding one part of the Shi'I aqeeda is that the Muhammad saws, the 12 Aimma, and Fatima have their knowledge directly from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى), if I misunderstood that please correct me.
Now my question is, did the Prophet Muhammad saws teach Imam Ali? If yes, then why, since Imam Ali would have get the knowledge from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) according to the shi'I believe.

I am a Sunni Muslim and I am interested in the Shia. As I know in Sunni Islam it is possible to follow the hanafi Madhab in fiqh but for example the athari aqeeda instead of the maturidi aqeeda, or the hanbali madhab fin fiqh and the ashari aqeeda instead of athari. I read from the Sunni institute Al-Azhar that for a Sunni it is allowed to follow the jafari Madhab.
