  1. Can anyone tell me any hadeeths from the Prophet(saww) or Imams(a.s), regarding qaza times for namaaz? With references, would be great. JazakAllah, khair.
  2. Salam, brothers and sisters. So,i was reading this book named "Ain-al-hayat" authored by Allamah Baqir Majlisi and came accross the following hadeeth. Iam confused about one part of the hadeeth. It is the part where the Imam talks about the 10th bounty from Allahسُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى. The tenth bounty that the Imam(a.s) talks about is the superiority of "Men" over "Women". I have had a hard time grasping the meaning of this. Is it esoteric or exoteric? Does anyone have any idea or can anyone relate to any other hadeeth or tradition? JazakAllah, khair, brothers and sisters. Link to Book: https://www.al-islam.org/ain-al-hayat-essence-life-muhammad-baqir-al-majlisi This is the hadeeth: The Prophet of Allah (S) said to his companions, “Tell me which of Allah’s Bounties is the first one?” Everyone made his guess about the bounties. Some said dainty food is the best Blessing, another said that the children, and more particularly the male child, are Allah’s best Bounty. Alas, when the Prophet (S) was not satisfied with any of the replies, he asked Amir’ul-Mu’mineen ‘Ali (as), “O ‘Ali! Tell me. Of the countless Bounties of Allah, which one is the best?!” The Prophet’s Vicegerent said, “O Prophet of Allah! You know better than me and whatever I know has been taught to me by you! But since you are ordering me to respond to your question, I am complying. Of the Bounties of Allah, the best is the capability of invention. When there was nothing, He gave us the faculty of existence and observation.” The Prophet (S) said, “O ‘Ali! You are right. Now, What is the next best Bounty?” Amir’ul-Mu’mineen ‘Ali (as) said, “The second Bounty is that Allah has not created us like the flora and the minerals (mountains, rocks, trees etc) but He has endowed us with spirit and animation.” The Prophet (S) said, “Verily! You are right. Tell me what is the third Bounty?” Amir’ul-Mu’mineen ‘Ali (as) said, “The third Bounty is that Allah has bestowed to the human-kind the best features of face and body” The Prophet (S) said, “You are right. What is the fourth Bounty?” Amir’ul-Mu’mineen ‘Ali (as) said, “The fourth Bounty is that Allah has gifted the human beings with the external and spiritual senses.” The Prophet (S) rejoined, “True. What is the fifth Bounty?” Amir’ul-Mu’mineen ‘Ali (as) said, “The fifth Bounty is that Allah has given intellect and wisdom to the human beings.” The Prophet (S) said, “You are right. O ‘Ali! What is the sixth Bounty? Amir’ul-Mu’mineen ‘Ali (as) replied, “The sixth Bounty is that Allah has gifted to us the wealth of the True Faith and has not created us in ignorance.” The Prophet (S) said, “This too is true. What is the seventh Bounty? Amir’ul-Mu’mineen ‘Ali (as) said, “The seventh Bounty is that Allah has bestowed us with immortal life in the Hereafter. The Prophet (S) said, “True! What is the eighth Bounty?” Amir’ul-Mu’mineen ‘Ali (as) said, “Allah has created us free and not slave to anyone.” The Prophet (S) said, “You are right. What is the ninth Bounty?” Amir’ul-Mu’mineen ‘Ali (as) said, “The ninth Bounty is that Allah has created the earth and the sky and all they contain for our benefit and gave us full control of these elements.” The Prophet (S) assented and asked, “What is the tenth Bounty?” *Amir’ul-Mu’mineen ‘Ali (as) replied, “The tenth Bounty is that Allah has created us men and superior to women.”* The Prophet (S) asked, “O ‘Ali! Tell about more Bounties of Allah!” Amir’ul-Mu’mineen ‘Ali (as) said, “O Allah’s choicest of creations! The Bounties of Allah are uncountable. My entire life shall be insufficient to enumerate them.” The Prophet (S) said, “O ‘Ali! Truly, you are the inheritor of the knowledge! Whosoever follows you will be on the Right Path. Your friends shall find Deliverance! Your enemies and adversaries shall be deprived of the rewards on the Day of Judgment!” Then he (S) said, “the way to achieve nearness of the Creator is to talk more of Him. The best prayer is the supplication of the pious person!”
  3. Brothers, my original question has not been answered :p " The narrator gives the reference of a book titled " Qabasaat " authored by Ayatollah Najafi himself in which the Ayt has narrated the whole incident. I want to know if there exists an English version of the book. Secondly, i would love to read further incidents where Ayatollahs have met the imam(a.s). Can anyone recommend any books to read which contains such content? Or any other resource? " Any help is appreciated.
  4. Salam, brothers/ sisters! I was researching a bit and i found this youtube video where the narrator talks about an instance where the Ayatullah met Imam e zamana(a.s) and the imam(ajtf) gave him some council/advices LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NIiYwsKHNQ The video is in urdu so i will briefly translate the major points told my the imam(a.s) in the video for people who donot know the language. 1) Recitation of the Holy Quran 2) Ziarat ( Pilgrimage ) of the Shrines of the Imams(a.s) and their Aal ( i.e imam zadeh ) as well. 3) Respect for the Saadat ( Sayyeds ) 4) Serving/ your parents ( Whether dead or alive ) 5) Putting an aqeeq stone in the mouth of the dead body that has the names of the 14 masoomeens(a.s) engraved on it 6) Performing the 5 prayers in congregation 7) Researching Fiqh, hadees, and their tafseer. 8) Research Of nahjul balagah and Sahifa e sajjadiya and their memorization The narrator gives the reference of a book titled " Qabasaat " authored by Ayatollah Najafi himself in which the ayt has narrated the whole incident. I want to know if there exists an english version of the book. Secondly, i would love to read further incidents where Ayatollahs have met the imam(a.s). Can anyone recommend any books to read which contains such content? Or any other resource? May Allah bless us all and the blessings of the Ahlulbayt follow with it :) Jazak Allah, Khair!
  5. Something eye opening i heard during a majlis. Prophet Musa(a.s) asks Allah; " Ya Allah, Make me so that every being is pleased by me. " Allah responds by saying: " Musa(a.s)! You are the Created and I am the Creator. I bestow upon the people every blessing, every basic necessity from dawn to dusk and yet they keep on complaining to me. Musa(a.s) donot try and please everyone." Something to absorb and ponder upon, i guess!
  6. Salam, brothers and sisters! I came across an article titled "The Philosophy of Life in the Rasail Ikhwan al Safa: Ishq & Love " and found a disturbing paragraph in the article. For those who donot know what Ikhwan us safa is, let me elaborate on what little knowledge i have about it. The risail of Ikhwan us safa is a collection of rasail's ( manuscripts ) that the ismailis claim to have been written and compiled by their imams ( later ones ). They include knowledge about this world and the hereafter and have insight on topics such as ilm, soul, music, philosophy , math and others. So ikhwan us safa are the writers of the rasail ( meaning their imams ) Anyways, i found this article on a site called " fatemidawat.com " ( a site by dawoodi bohras ) When i read the paragraph i got the idea that it might be talking about reincarnation. I will share the excerpt as well as the article link here. Need your opinions on the matter. Paragraph: "If the individual soul fails to attach itself to the Imam and is not purified, upon death that soul is not freed from the fetters of matter, but remains bound within the world of generation and corruption. It will have to traverse through the cycle of nature and rise in the levels of the muwalladaat, created things, until it once again reaches human form. This according to the Ikhwan al Safa is true hell. " Article link: https://www.fatemidawat.com/assets/images/Published Works/Ikhwanus Safa/ikhwanus-safa-rasail-ishq.pdf P.s. The specific para i pointed out is on page 3 of the article ( the last paragraph ) Wassalam! May Allah guide all of us to the straight Path! Ameen
  7. Brother @Qa'im, Thank you so much for such a comprehensive answer! I asssume this is something that you get a better understanding of as you progress hadeeth sceinces! Jazak Allah, Khair!
  8. Salam, brothers and sisters! I had this question in my mind for a while and it would not let me sleep, so i decided to share it with you. Hopefully, someone can either answer it perfectly or at least point me in the right direction. I am aware of the methodology used to authenticate the hadeeths, i.e. through Ilm e rijal. My question is: What if the chain of narrators itself is forged? Meaning that is it possible that the chain of narrators are wrongfully put into a hadeeths isnad to make it seem valid for the people who will then study the chain and realize that the narrators are fine and the hadeeth is sahi, but they wont knoe that the chain itself is not right. Cannot seem to wrap my mind around it. Any Thoughts/Opinions/Facts Based Reasoning? Wassalam! May Allah bless you and the blessings of the Ahlulbayt(a.s) follow with it! Jazak Allah, khair!
  9.  Assalam-o-alaikum, brother!

I was browsing the Shia chat forums and threads and came across the thread " Understanding the Bohra Beliefs" or something similar. I noticed that you called yourself an ex-bohra there.

So, my point is, If you are fine with it,I need to talk to you about something, privately. I need someone who is an ex bohra for that ( You'll understand when i share what i want to, later )

But i want to discuss it privately. Unfortunately, i am unable to message you as the website isnot allowing me. It says " You can send 0 messages per day " ( maybe because I am a new user )

Is there any way we can talk, maybe via mail? OR any other medium you have in mind?

I would really appreciate it! And you would be doing me a gigantic favour!

    Jazakallah, Khair!

May Allah bless you and the blessings of the Ahlulbayt(a.s) follow with it! :)

    Fee Aman Allah! :)

  10. Assalam-u-alaikum, brothers and sisters! Iam currently pursuing BS(CS) and am interested in android app development and website development. So, i thought why not do something beneficial for the community. I wanted to know if you guys have any ideas for an application or website ( or both ) that could benefit the community in any way. It could be anything that you think would be a good idea to implement( digitize) keeping in mind the nature of the people living in your country of residence. It could even be a game( minimalistic ) for the kids to teach them about religion in a way that attracts them. But i cannot think of something creative or constructive right now. Your help and ideas would be appreciated! I am excited to hear your opinions and views! May Allah bless you all and the blessings of the Ahlulbayt(a.s) follow with it!
  11. Assalam-o-alaikum brothers and sisters. This is my very first post on ShiaChat and this is the actual reason i made the profile anyways. :p So, let me explain my query. I want to know whether a student studying in the hawza of Qom can take up a full/part time job as a means of livelihood? I will the dissect the question into simpler sub questions. 1) Is there any legal issue with taking up a job or personal business in Qom while being a hawza student? **By legal issue i mean, any restrictions from the hawza or authorities** 2) If the answer to the above question is yes, then how can a hawza student provide for their family ( wife and kids in the future )? 3) if you can get a job, is it allowed to be full or part time and how does this affect your study time at the hawza? I will apply to the hawza insha Allah in the near future, but i want to do a job as well because I will have a degree in BSCS and my parents have expectations and secondly i want to stand on my own feet. Any response you drop is appreciated. May Allah bless you and the blessings of the 14 masoomeen(a.s) follow with it! Insha Allah! P.s. Please, mention the source of your information and how valid it is. Much Appreciated!
