My twin sister had a dream before she died, 20 years ago. She relayed it to me like this...
She saw herself lying on the floor. A man picked her up and held her in his arms. She thought it was Jesus. She said she didn't hear the word, but she felt it, "Redeemed." She said it washed over her with so much power, she felt in that moment that Jesus was healing her from her cancer. But when the dream ended, she realized she was still very sick, even sicker than before. She understood then that it wasn't that kind of healing.
Just a little while ago, before I read this thread, I asked Jesus to take away my cancer. I had just finished reading these words...
"This was to fulfill what was spoken by the Prophet Isaiah: 'He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.'" - Matthew 8:17
Perhaps my sister's dream is the answer to my prayer.

Our Christian Bible assures us that if we seek for God, He will reveal Himself to us. I am praying you will find what you are seeking.
7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?
10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?
11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! - Matthew 7:7-11
35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe.
37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. - John 6:35-37

We Christians believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. It tells us Jesus said...
30 I and the Father are one."
31 The Jews picked up stones again to stone him.
32 Jesus answered them, "I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?"
33 The Jews answered him, "It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God."
34 Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I said, you are gods'?
35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God came-and Scripture cannot be broken-
36 do you say of him whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?
    37 If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me;
38 but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father."
39 Again they sought to arrest him, but he escaped from their hands.
40 He went away again across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing at first, and there he remained.
41 And many came to him. And they said, "John did no sign, but everything that John said about this man was true." - John 10:30-41

Do you know God wants closeness with you even more than you want it with Him? He wants you to have His peace more than you desire it. No greater love has anyone than to lay down One's life for the object of His love. Before you were born, God knew you. He knew you would sin and fall short of Himself. So you cannot be with Him until you are made like Him in holiness and righteousness. Because He is perfect, you must become perfect, too. But how? Only God could make a way. He took your judgment and satisfied it with His death on a cross in the person of His own Son.

Thank you, PoD. I have never been taught that Jesus claimed Mary was diety. I agree that would be shirk to give any lesser person equal status with God. We do not believe there are three Gods. When we speak about the Trinity, we are looking at the character of God: God the Creator, God the Redeemer, and God the Counselor.
18 And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on Earth has been given to me.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? - John 14:9
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,
17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. - John 14:16-17
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. - John 16:13

    Propaganda of the Deed,
Thank you. This is a very good argument. But the other side of salvation by grace and not by works is that once we have been forgiven we now have God's seed, His Spirit living within us and we do not want to sin any longer. And for the first time in our lives, we have the strength of God to resist the temptations of the world, the enemy, and our flesh to sin.
4 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.
5 You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.
6 No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him.
7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous.
8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.
10 By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. - 1 John 3:4-10

    Warm greetings!
I have pondered the question, How does Jesus save us? I believe His death on the cross paid the penalty for my sins, which cancelled my debt to God, makes me forgiven, sets me free. But there is more. He said of Himself...
"I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment-what to say and what to speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me." - John 12:46-50
    Peace and blessings!

MartyS reacted to 3wliya_maryam in How can you tell the difference between a dream that can be interpreted and a dream that cannot?
    Salam guys,
So this has just crossed my mind, especially today after I went back to sleep. The thing is, I can't really tell whether my dreams are a ru'ya or just some messed up dream. This morning I think I had two or three messed up dreams, and all I can remember is me being in my uni (it looked different) and I was lost. I didn't know how to get home so I reached this wierd place where there were constructions and I asked some builder to help me find my way, and other things happened that I can't seem to make clear in my head, but all I remember was this massive storm, like some wind or tornado and everything was like brownish colour, like a very strong storm. I don't know if such dreams can be interpreted, because I used to always think that if its a forgetful dream, then it isn't really a dream. So, what defines a real dream, one that has a meaning and can be interpreted??

I read some of the Bible from a website (I forgot the name, but it had the word bible in it). It was interesting to know that Hijab, praying, polygamy, etc. were discussed in the Bible too. I think it would be interesting to find these verses in the Bible and search for it. I've seen some Christian women in Hijab. It's exactly Islamic Hijab. They cover all parts of the body except face and hands up to wrist. Clothes are loose and does not show body projections. I saw few of them in US, Midwest.
I think you are Christian. Qur'an has a verse that says: " The closes people to Muslims in friendship are Christians. Those who are holy people and obeying God". Page 121, Qur'an
Iran leader visited a family who lost their son in Iran-Iraq war. The Christian parents were very happy. Here's the video. Look at the Christian woman how she smiles

Job has always been my favorite book. Because it's something that at times, I feel like we can all relate to. Going through trial after trial, all the suffering and pain. Then at the end of the book when everyone is ready for an explanation, God's just like...eh, check out my behemoth, I do what I want, I'm God.
That and I saw Ecclesiastes quoted. Probably my second favorite book. From dust to dust. Always makes me feel warm inside knowing that everything I've worked for in life, everyone I've loved, and everything I identify with, will fade away into non-existence. At least as the physical world is described.

Of course I've read the Bible, who hasn't?
I've read lots of apocrypha and non-canonical texts too. The early church pumped out some crazy stuff, as well as stuff like Marcionism, the Ebionites, the Gnostic sects, Nazarenes etc.
I've also dug into Judaism and it's own unique texts of many kinds (including the Hekhalot literature).

My favorite texts in the Bible (either OT or NT) tend to actually be the wisdom literature rather than the more core texts. Ecclesiastes, Job, Ezekiel and the 'Gospel' of John are probably my favorite texts in the Bible. The Apocalypse of john (also known as "The Book of Revelation") is also a fun read but is essentially a work of occultism tagged onto the end of the Bible.
The Bible otherwise is little more than a cursory look for me as I don't see it to be valid scripture. Judaism and Christianity are still interesting but yeah.

I have read my textbook bible, all of it, several times.
Last month I wanted to re-read something and several times I knew the next line before I turned the page.
Now days, I only reread a few places or lookup stufff.
Same with Qur'an, know the next line as above(in the first translation I got as a gift from a Syrian) and so on. Rereading it currently -a portion at a time.
