I prefer the green (sometimes blue) logo with the masjid in it.

That being said, I love the new site layout/style. It's much easier on the eyes.

Some folks were surprised how many people turned up to the anti-shia rally.
I had to remind them that 30,000 showed up to kill the grandson of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم).

In Shi'a fiqh, drawing is allowed but making sculptures or statues of living entities (humans, animals) is forbidden.

It makes more sense to celebrate Karbala and Ashura than than to mourn.  Imam Hussein (عليه السلام) didn’t lose, he was victorious.  Islam was saved on that day.  It should be an Eid.

it makes sense to cry on Ashura, but not for Imam Hussein (عليه السلام) but for ourselves and how we have not lived up Imam Hussein’s (عليه السلام) teachings.

It is all a matter of perspective.  You see.

    Salam,
Would it be permissible to work in a company which works as a platform/service provider for television channels such as Sky in the UK where the while the platform itself does not indulge in any haram activity however it's clientele could include TV channels which promote haram content such as adult channels or movie channels which would show haram content however would also include news channels and even Islamic TV channels perhaps neutral content such as news, sports etc being in the majority. The role would be more management of operations ensuring things are working in the company but not having any contact or work with these TV channels etc.

Temperature checks and hand sanitizer at the door. Face masks required to be allowed to enter the establishment. They have social distancing markers on the floor. It isn’t perfect, there can definitely be more social distancing happening versus what’s happening now (at least what I see as a lady on the ladies side) but overall people are coming if they feel healthy, and with a mask in case.

    Salaam,
I am not a Sunni but 2 years ago I went into a crisis of understanding the Shia faith I was brought up on. When I think about where I was in 2017, I was mourning Ashura confidently, was talking about Imam Ali (عليه السلام) when I could, and just understood that there were 12 imams. About a year later or so I went into a dark phase where I had so many thoughts and questions about imamah, and what the truth was, and why Shia do certain things, I really was so confused and I felt very sad and dark inside. I would pray to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) to guide my heart and I told Him that my desire is to worship Him in the right way. SubhanaAllah, let me tell you. The more I learned and listened and read about Islam and its history and Hadith, and our belief system, I entered a peak a few weeks ago in my faith. To me there is so much evidence that Imam Ali (عليه السلام) was the rightful successor to the Prophet (SAWW). After months and months and months of pondering and sadness and confusion I reached a peak and light in my heart where it was just so clear to me. I told myself I can’t deny this. And from here, I’ve been continuing to work on my faith and understanding. I still have a bunch of questions and there are some things I still don’t 100% understand, but SubhanaAllah I feel much more at peace now. Feeling way better than where I was then.
Ask Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) for guidance every day. Ask Him to make the Truth so clear to you that no doubt exists and you can’t deny it. Research. Learn. Ask questions. Don’t give up. This is your faith and as someone else referred to here, it feels to good to learn about your faith and follow it than just inherit it.

I ask because, as a Sunni, I’m in this process of learning about Shiism and finding a lot of it correct. Though I don’t think I’m at the point of identifying with the sect.

So I’m just curious about hearing other people’s stories.

    Salam brother,
I’m a Palestinian and Egyptian born “Sunni”. I say “Sunni” because to be honest I was just born into it and inherited my faith. My mum reverted to Shiasm like 4 years ago so my mother would always tell me about Shia Islam.

When I was 17 I became friends with a girl who happened to be Shia. After talking and my previous exposure/ research I told her that I wanted to become Shia. We eventually cut ties and this is when my faith was really tested. Was I in it for the culture, friends etc or actual deen? My reversion wasn’t an easy process and far from linear. I kept going back and forth because I didn’t have a good base of knowledge and was scared of change. After actually reading, speaking to shiekhs etc I realised the depth of the truth that my brain could not deny despite social/family pressures.
So here I am, 18 years old and a “Shia” alhamdulilah. I can say that I’m learning my religion instead of inheriting it. Although I was introduced to Shiasm before and claimed to be one, only now can I say that I have the yaqeen I was yearning for.
On a side note, I call myself in this post a Shia to keep things simple but really I am just a a Muslim who follows and accepts what is truth and that is what our beloved Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) told us to do follow:
“Behold! I am leaving for you two precious things. First of them is the book of Allah... The other one is my Ahlul-Bayt.”- [Sahih Muslim]

so I don’t really like to label myself because I feel like such words such as Shia have different connotations in today’s society and to be honest, I don’t agree with everything some “Shias” do such as self flagellation, drawing depictions of how Imam Hussain looked etc. I just hope that I can follow haq and hold tightly on Allah’s (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) rope and not create divisions.
al-Islam.org is a great resource btw.
Insha’Allah whatever decision you make is based on facts and evidence,
    Ma salam.

Salaam, I first joined ShiaChat about 2 years ago to genuinely gain knowledge on matters pertaining to Islam. When I posted this it wasn’t really a matter of objection outwardly, rather to just understand the matter generally so then I have an understanding of where our fiqh lands so then I have an idea where to be land/be. Most of my posts on ShiaChat are actually of this matter. I apologize if I seemed to be an outward critique on my post. Maybe I should have worded it better, but I wanted to understand. I actually do thank you for contributing to my thread, it does help!
