Right and that’s why you are even willing to fight for Moderrasi’s bizarre claim. If your heart was closer to Rasoolallah you would not entertain such a wild position even with clear cut narrations.
My personal inclination is that everyone should naturally be closest to Rasoolallah as he was chosen by our Creator to deliver Islam. However, I understand this may not hold true in the Shia circles.

I never called you a mushrik. I am not in position to judge anyone--that is for Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). However, I can judge actions. If you want to do sujood to other than Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) then my all means feel free to do so. I think that act is shirk--the gravest of sins. Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) knows best.

Find me any sahih narration in which any Prophet or Imam prostated and pleaded for other than Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى).
Sujood is only for Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). This is the issue here. We are being told to go into prostration and beg for other than Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). If you do not see this as flirting with shirk then you do not see anything as shirk. Tawassul is a whole entirely different topic.
I can’t believe I have to explain myself for such ridiculous matters.

^this is all great and dandy. No one is questioning her status. Just because she has a high status in Islam doesn’t mean we can prostate and plead for her.
would you be okay with sujood and calling out for Maryam (عليه السلام)?

Can we not apply common knowledge and come to conclusion that is not authentic? Lets even take the tawassul dynamic out of it. Just the fact that you are going into sujood and pleading to an entity other than Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) is enough reason for a rational person to dismiss this narration.
We can reach this conclusion without even having to resort for further proofs such as its Safavid origin and Gaali chain. I feel as if you are not counting it out simply due to the bias of the personality attached to it. You would label this unauthentic had it been "Go into sujood and plead Ya Maryam x100", but since it is "Ya Fatima", you cannot find it in you to dismiss it.
I say this sincere intentions. By no means am I trying to get into a personal bout with you.

Here is the logic of the modern ulema:
Zakat was at the time paid with gold/silver coins, wheat, barley, etc--therefore paper money does not qualify for zakat.
Khums was at the time paid (or distributed) with swords, shields, etc--therefore paper money qualifies for khums.
You have to be ignorant to not see the flaw.

Look at the Arabic, this translation has fallen victim to bias. The word Ghanima (war booty) is in there.

If khums is greater than zakat then how come Imam Ali does not address it in Nahjul Balagha even once?

786:) got a reaction from Razza in Is KHUMS really 20% high????
If you look at khums from strictly an academic point, it’s current methodology was added much after the time of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). The scope of khums has been extended over time to adequate the survival of Shiism.
I hate how we are given the fairytale that khums was on income during the life of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). That is so false. The income tax in the time of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) was zakat as outlined in the Quran several times.
I would have no problem giving khums if they were truthful about its history, but you lose trust in such establishment for such deception.

Do the ulema do enough to clean up the baseless rituals and superstitions that come with Muharram? I feel they are very staunch when it comes to certain fiqhi matters but then very lenient and enabling when it comes to Muharram practices and superstitions. Everyone’s thoughts welcomed. If you feel defensive or think this is some Wahhabi post, please do not participate.

Why is it frowned upon in the Shia communities to break up prayers into 5 distinct times? I understand that it is allowed, but this was not the default. Why have we institutionalizated 3 prayers when the sunnah of all the Prophet and Imams was 5 separate?

786:) got a reaction from Essentials123 in Eid al Adha
This day is awfully close to “Eid al Akbar” aka Ghadeer. So this eid loses its luster in the Shi’a communities as most communities allocate most of their resources to celebrate Eid e Ghadeer.
Do I agree with it? No, but that is just what I have observed over the years. Minority groups tend to emphasize what makes them unique and de-emphasize their commonalities with the majority. This dynamic is also at play with Adha and Ghadeer.

786:) got a reaction from In Gods Name in Ghuluw
Started a new thread for this since I am baffled and the other thread is going in different directions. [someone] stated that ghuluw is only calling Imams as God. Everything else is game on. What is everyone's thoughts on this. I find this to be shirk in itself. Of course he presented a narration to support this. But this narration is in clear violation of the Quran. We read Surah Ikhlas several times a day in which Allah says, there is nothing like him. Yet, this brother says Imams can be just like Allah, but it is only ghuluw to call them Allah.
Is this a fringe opinion or is this a widespread belief? Please pitch in.

aha! I have heard this before as well. See this reasoning for me draws up two possible scenarios:
    1) The Caliphs killed Lady Fatima (AS). Yet, Imam Ali (AS) looked passed and squashed the matter in hopes of unity amongst the Muslims.
    2) The Caliphs did not kill Lady Fatima (AS). This is why we do not have one single narration from Imam Ali (AS) that leads us to believe they did.
Pick your poison. Both cases lead to unity. Ironically, those who are stuck on this matter tend be against unity.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Sa‘d ibn ‘Abdallah from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad al-Thaqafi from Ali ibn Mu‘alla from his brother, Muhammad from Durust ibn abu Mansur from Ali ibn abu Hamza from abu Basir from abu ‘Abdallah ((عليه السلام).) who has said the following. “When the Holy Prophet (s.a) was born he remained for days without milk. Abu Talib himself breast fed him and Allah sent milk through his nipples. It continued for several days until abu Talib found Halima al-Sa‘diya and the child was given to her”

@Alchemist check out the wonky Hadith I posted. Abu Talib could breastfeed supposedly. I know the sore losers in here will say “so what? What’s wrong with that? Is it not possible for Allah to do that?” But imagine if such hadith was found in Sunni books on Umar breastfeeding. Imagine how that would’ve been spun and poked fun at. Double standards keep some Shias (and Sunnis) from intellectually growing. Just know the Hadith corpus is compromised at large due to the political climate of the time. The Nusayris use Shia books to prove the divinity of Imam Ali—astaghfirullah. Just my two cents. I don’t really waste much time here anymore due to the insincerity of some members and the labeling I receive by being genuine in my criticism of certain aspects of modern day Shiism being born and raised in a Shia community. And I still identify as Shia politically but my deen is Islam—I guess that’s why I’m lableled. Fi Amanillah.
