  1. @Propaganda_of_the_Deed and in Egypt .. Egyptian Society for Merci to Animals (ESMA)
  2. Any healthily bred dog does not drool, and can be taught easily not to lick you. So drool isn't an issue I believe. Grooming is to avoid hair especially when change of season. Many scholars say that the hair is only an issue when wet as well. It can be argued that the dog of ashab el kahf is inside the cave by the entrance. I think the way westerners treat animals is more Islamic than Muslims do.
  3. Any religious opinion. If a person spends 50 years without realizing any mistakes in their beliefs, then they must be wrong. Every normal human must have epiphanies, revelations, etc.
  4. Majority of scholars are wrong if they don’t respect as7ab el kahf. It's ok to wrong as long as its forgiven. Let us stay in line with Qur'an and common sense, while giving space to dog lovers to Express more positive things. It's a big interesting field. If dogs are groomed correctly they wont be najis. Here is a chance to discuss proper grooming.
  5. People should be encouraged to think and reflect and understand. Reasoning should be given even if on a very simple level according to Qur'an and known hadiths. People who follow blindly are destined to failure.
  6. Scholars of Islam who all think they are right about everything, while they might be about some things and wrong about others. Shia like Muslim is just a name but no guarantee.
  7. Depends which breed, and also depends how the dog us kept. Most people are najis too apparently because it seems according to Qur'an that most people are bad. I think people are on average filthier than any dog. And most of the time the filthiness of a dog can be directly traced back to human activity. When left alone, nature is very clean.
  8. Interesting mystery book. In my opinion their public opinions shouldn't be detached from immediate reasoning from Qur'an and hadiths.
  9. Well this can happen. For instant a wahabi scholar studying all his life could be wrong about things while a 7 year old girl on the internet could be right about it.
  10. Every Marja, every scholar is a unique case in front of God. Impossible to generalise, and we should be alert to hypocrisy even among our own creed. Also remember aya Allah is sign of Allah, including verses in the Qur'an. The sun and moon and we ourselves are ayat. Nobody has a claim to monopolize those terms. You and I are also signs of God.
  11. Very old dog visible from the teeth, and looks blind. This breed was bred the wrong way which gives it problems breathing and moving, but there are still people who love Bulldogs, and they do have a certain kind of charm. This picture is like showing a 98 year old human, with all kinds of genetic defects
  12. God is infallible and He has no partners
  13. I think it is healthy to question our scholars because they are fallible. It is not like questioning God who is infallible.
  14. @OrthodoxTruth and @ali_fatheroforphans Did you ever think about what the Marjas teaching you in a more critical sense? Most of the time they don’t share the Qur'an/ hadith reasoning behind their rulings. Maybe they are wrong about more than 1%. Did you ever hear about a scholar who realized something that contradicts his past beliefs?
  15. Personally I disagree but that is not part of this discussion in a direct sense. I know that my opinion on this is at odds with 99.9% of the community here.
  16. Salam, We are all part of certain Islamic groups who are awaiting a saviour. "Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves." So if we want Allah to change our condition and remove poverty, injustice, ignorance, and grief, then we must change what is within us. What do you think your group needs to do? I have certain ideas in case someone is interested that can be applied to each Islamic grouping of today, but in general terms I believe that so-called suni groupings struggle more with nifaq (hypocracy) while so-called Shia groups struggle with shirq (partnering with God). One is dhaaleen (lost) the other is maghdub alayhum (anger upon them). What do you think Mahdi will change in your group?
  17. Salam, Do you treat your marjas as infallible or are you aware that they make mistakes and teach things that are wrong at times? Are you aware that our ideas of Islam could be wrong and what we are taught is full of shortcomings? Feel free to share your experience where you yourself found out that you were wrong about something in Islam, or s great scholar who admitted a mistake in their beliefs. I used to believe - like so many Islamic scholars - that all Prophets friends were great, then I changed my mind about it, and had not problem admitting it. I believe that a good scholar is a person who admits that they are imperfect and who are not afraid to learn, develop, evolve, and change their opinions about things.
  18. Well according to Qur'an Adam was a Zalim which are promised hell in other instances. If you take Qur'an without an open mind to variation, then it will seem to contradict itself in many places. Just like the AHL kitab are described as good and bad in different places.
  19. Definitely our scholars are not perfect, nor their books and narrations. Your Islam is therefore far from perfect, as every creature is imperfect too.
  20. When analysing the qur'anic verses that mention the dog of the cave, it refers to the dog as one of the companions, and does not differentiate. Allah numbers them as one, so according to this we should avoid insulting those creatures and ask ourselves why this fitna has happened. Why is it that every time Muslims think of dogs they think of dirt? Why do they not remember that they are talking about a full fledged member of the companions of the cave, who did not ruin the ambience or purity of the cave he inhabited. I have several theories why shaytan made this fitna, in case anybody is interested. Anybody else have any theories?
  21. There is a verse saying that Prophet was dhaleen making it a weak argument
  22. The Islam you learned is from fallible beings. Even if Prophet and Imams are infallible, then you never met one. So Islam is taught via fallible beings.
  23. Akita has a very famous member and legendary story in Japan. Beautiful dogs masha Allah, and need lots of space so get used to exercising a lot and moving if you plan on getting one. I think people made studies proving that dog owners are statistically healthier, which is quite logic. They force you to move and they bring the good side of your animal instinct out. Vladimir Putin in a big dog lover who even surprised Angela Merkel with his late [Edited Out] in a public meeting, and she turned out to have dog phobia like so many Muslims do. Nice post you wrote in that other thread! Masha Allah. Time to defend those who defended us and the companions of the cave.
  24. Can anybody get me the words "offensive jihad" from anywhere in Qur'an or hadith? Or is it an invented concept and terminology as I've been saying?
